I think you nailed it when you said they're buying players for tomorrow and expecting results today. I'm no football manager, but it seems to me like there needs to be a balance of youth and experience in clubs. Chelsea have stuffed their team with youthful raw talent that don't have enough seasoned players to guide them and help them believe in themselves.
Newcastle is buying young players as well but they are slowly being involved in the first team instead. You can't simply buy a new group of young players and then expect them to click and deliver results within a few months. In a lower standard league maybe, but not in a top flight one.

He won the conference league with Roma in his first year, and led them to the Europa League final last year. The man is a serial winner, he wins wherever he goes. Let's not forget what he has achieved with a shambolic Manchester United side, winning the Europa League and finishing 2nd in the PL. Even when he was at Spurs, he led them to a Carabo Cup final and was sacked right before that game, I'm pretty sure he would have won that final if he was still in charge. And with the amount of funds he would have had at his disposal at Chelsea, they would have been in a much better predicament (maybe win a few trophies) then they currently are.
I love Mourinho but I doubt he would’ve won the league in this era of the prem with Chelsea. He is a great manager but his antics have kind of caught up to him. It used to be that his managerial expertise and skill outweighed all of it but now it’s definitely just the antics. He’s still a good manager but I think he’d need to become very versatile tactically to even compete with Pep or Klopp

Mourinho knows exactly the type of players he wants and would work in his system, the last 2 successful strikers at Chelsea were Diego Costa and Didier Drogba both of whom were brought to the club by Mourinho. Chelsea have spent more than a billion since Boehly took over, and have only been going backwards. The point I'm making is, Mourinho would have built a strong competitive team that would have competed against the likes of City and Liverpool with that much money at his hands.
Didn't Chelsea fire a manager after winning the league? Blue Co took that to 12th place, and points wise the worst season since 1988 (35 years). Add to that exit in the first game in both domestic cups. I'm not an Arsenal supporter but AFC did learn their lesson and they stuck with Arteta for several seasons. Under Arteta Arsenal finished like 9th and 8th in two his first two seasons and people were questioning his ability to revive the club. Tbh I think it was more a case of the owners having no ambition and not really caring about the results. There were a lot of people saying arteta out for a long time, and he managed to get it right in the end but I think it's kind of pure luck for the owners that he did - I seriously doubt any decisions were made with footballing glory in mind

Klopp at Liverpool is another great example of how being patient with a manager to allow a project to unfold. First back when he first arrived, and last year when the squad needed an overhaul. The problem with Chelsea's "project" is that it is unclear whose project it is. Are all these players they brought in during the summer players that Poch wants? Were they brought in because they fit the system that Poch wants to play? Before they can get a cohesive structure for the club, I don't think their "project" os going to succeed.

While possession and passing based football is great it doesn’t fit the play style I remember from bayern (high pressing/fast counter) so I want them to lose a title or two to put in perspective how lucky we’ve been and the changes that need to be made both on the pitch and behind the scenes. That being said, do I want BVB to win? Not quiet but I fully expected it going into the last match day last year and it almost made me happy, not for BVB but for REUS to finally get his title. If it wasn’t for him id have been disappointed that they couldn’t have lost to a side like Freiburg or Hoffenheim.

The fans around me at Chelsea are so shortsighted. I’m not seeing that many people calling for Poch’s head but when Tuchel was fired, people were straight at Potter. They were calling for the sack as soon as Tuchel was sacked. Tuchel wasn’t doing well during the season either. He’d lost a lot of the dressing room because he’s not an amazing man manager, more so a tactician who treats players like chess pieces at times. I’m sure we would have seen him come back over time because the dip in his form might have been due to injuries and of course the uncertainty of sanctions placed over ownership. I have to disagree with one point you made. Chelsea, imo, are a terrible squad.. They are unbalanced and there doesn't seem to be many leaders in their at the moment. Newcastle and Brighton have recruited exceptionally well in recent windows while Chelsea and their recruitment team have not. The contracts are laughable at least the length of them are and they are trusting players who were almost out of the door to play key roles mere months later. From an outsiders perspective they seem to be trying to one up their "rivals" in the top 6 and trying to stop them from buying their targeted players as opposed to building a balanced squad that can match and adapt to the managers style. Given the age profile of the majority of their recruits learning to be tactically flexible shouldn't be too much of a problem but if they don't focus on finding a way to balance the squad they will not go anywhere really. Depth in the defence, at least quality depth because they have struggled for the last couple of years without James and Chilwell and a proven goalscorer. They have good players who could be great but they really do have one of the worst squads, when you take what is needed from a modern football club squad in to account, in the league.

This channel deserves alot more views than it gets. As a Chelsea fan I feel like this analysis does a good job of going over all the salient points and putting them into context. As an older fan who's seen and heard alot I try to be less reactionary with football and I'm trying to do the same with Chelsea. The strategy from the owners might work in the long term but in the short term it has failed.
I hear...a lot of us younger fans are also keen to see the project work over the long term. But I get the people who are mad and calling for the sack of literally everyone. A slump is one thing, but the club has had a complete downturnand the 3 managers we'vehad since the takeoverjust have this air of cluelessness. And I think one of the most frustratingthings is the recruitment. Like how does the club buy a plethora of wingers, but no real goal threat. Sterling is great as a secondary goal threat, the Nkunku situation was unfortunate but we must remember that these guys unironically purchased Aubameyang, they set themselves up to have any and all future decisions questioned aggressively. It's so weird seeing a european football club treating players contract like US sport teams. In US sports you can tie players to a long contract and if they fail, just trade them for 6th round pick and you're free from the wage. But in eu football, you're fkd if a long contract player become a bust (see Hazard). Saudi not gonna always be there for them, they either gonna be good enough to not accept overpaid chelsea players, or the saudi's league itself gonna implode like china's league. I'm betting the latter.

This is too quick, we dont know this yet, there is no indication perceived turmoil now is indicative of some critical flaw. We have had so many iterations if amazing attack with uncoordinated defense, then unfinished attacks with solid defense. The foundation if self-belief and consistency takes time if you want to get it right, and no league punishes this more than the prem, which is by far the most competitive. The owners' ambition is right, and they are far too smart not to have learned from their mistakes and seen what remains good strategy. The thing I keep thinking about is just how young this squad is, with an average age around 22-23. I think once that number hits 24-25, Chelsea will be a much better side.

I think you are a bit to gentle when discussing Pochetino's time at PSG. There is no shame in failing to win the Champions League with PSG, but failing to win the League with them is. You can always fail to win the cup, even the best team with the best manager can have a bad match and be eliminated in a knockout game. But being inconsistent enough to get fewer points than a club who has about twenty percent of their budget over thirty eight matches is unacceptable and has only happened two times since they became that rich.
I mean if it certainly paid off, every football club should be buying costly teenagers and just be patient with it, it's the perfect plan, what could go wrong? Answer, everything. There is no assured certainty in football. We've seen it with our predictions start of every season. This is why fans panic, not every fan is a barbarian that doesn't understand a project/process. Fans also do understand there needs to be a hedge in case things go wrong. What was the hedge when Graham Potter was hired for big money long term contract? None. Chelsea relied on his goodwill to relieve major percentage of the owed money after the sacking, and lucky that Potter complied. This is why Pochettino has a shorter contract. The hope with this project is that with time there's enough of the signed youngsters firing to keep the club financially sustainable. While it might be enough to keep the club financially sustainable, no fan that has supported a top four club in recent history want to sustain mediocrity, specially a club like Chelsea that's synonymous with trophies. The project only truly wins if majority of the youngsters are a big success, which is low on probability scale. Name a club where they signed handful of teenagers and all have gone on to contribute to the club winning tons of trophies and titles for the club. There's almost none, because it's not highly probable. Chelsea have boatloads of them. So unless there's some change in the way things are operated at Chelsea, this is a low-medium probability high risk move. Already seen a bit of it having the worst season in 35 years (since 1988) last time out. If the luck is on the side then fantastic, but without a hedge of any kind it puts the club into a major uncertainty. Fans have every right to voice what they feel; good or bad.

They've signed way to many players where majority of them are very young and have very little experience with basically no leaders or experienced players leading them. I don't have much trust in the ownership or the directors, but Poch regardless of his flaws has my trust simply because we need stability and he fits majority of my personal wants in a manager

The "Is it broken" kinda... well, broke the video for me. The attacks should be launched on supporters, the entire pyramid, from the ruling bodies, through the owners to bottom, is responsible. Supporters desiring wins and showing impatience is just a symptom, not the problem, of the overcommercialized nature of football, with investment groups throwing money at a brand (that's what Chelsea FC, sadly, is) for expected return. So yeah, Chelsea is selling people a product, no wonder people treat is as such when it's not "working as intended" i.e. winning right away.

He won the conference league with Roma in his first year, and led them to the Europa League final last year. The man is a serial winner, he wins wherever he goes. Let's not forget what he has achieved with a shambolic Manchester United side, winning the Europa League and finishing 2nd in the PL. Even when he was at Spurs, he led them to a Carabo Cup final and was sacked right before that game, I'm pretty sure he would have won that final if he was still in charge. And with the amount of funds he would have had at his disposal at Chelsea, they would have been in a much better predicament (maybe win a few trophies) then they currently are.
I love Mourinho but I doubt he would’ve won the league in this era of the prem with Chelsea. He is a great manager but his antics have kind of caught up to him. It used to be that his managerial expertise and skill outweighed all of it but now it’s definitely just the antics. He’s still a good manager but I think he’d need to become very versatile tactically to even compete with Pep or Klopp

I'm not an Arsenal supporter but AFC did learn their lesson and they stuck with Arteta for several seasons. Under Arteta Arsenal finished like 9th and 8th in two his first two seasons and people were questioning his ability to revive the club. Right now not only Arsenal are back on track but footballers seem to show desire to play for Arteta. Maybe they got lucky in finding the right guy for them, maybe they'll falter again soon, but Arsenal has done something few clubs do--- showing patience.

The faith showed to Arteta isnt a blind faith. Arteta came in with a plan, the 5 steps plan, and the owner bought into it. Arsenal had backed Arteta in more occasion over the years, even publicly showing it by giving him a new contract while Arsenal are in a losing streak (that is part of Arsenal all or nothing documentary). They even take it a step further by willing to payout the contract for players that arent part or supporting that plan (Edu convinced the owner this is an investment, not a lost). Watch Arteta's first press conference in Dec 2019, he said what his plan and vision for Arsenal are and it is starting to bear fruit now. Theres more to it that just Arteta been given time.
Tbh I think it was more a case of the owners having no ambition and not really caring about the results. While possession and passing based football is great it doesn’t fit the play style I remember from bayern (high pressing/fast counter) so I want them to lose a title or two to put in perspective how lucky we’ve been and the changes that need to be made both on the pitch and behind the scenes. That being said, do I want BVB to win? Not quiet but I fully expected it going into the last match day last year and it almost made me happy, not for BVB but for REUS to finally get his title. I have to disagree with one point you made. Chelsea, imo, are a terrible squad.. They are unbalanced and there doesn't seem to be many leaders in their at the moment. Newcastle and Brighton have recruited exceptionally well in recent windows while Chelsea and their recruitment team have not. The contracts are laughable at least the length of them are and they are trusting players who were almost out of the door to play key roles mere months later.
From an outsiders perspective they seem to be trying to one up their "rivals" in the top 6 and trying to stop them from buying their targeted players as opposed to building a balanced squad that can match and adapt to the managers style. Given the age profile of the majority of their recruits learning to be tactically flexible shouldn't be too much of a problem but if they don't focus on finding a way to balance the squad they will not go anywhere really.
Depth in the defence, at least quality depth because they have struggled for the last couple of years without James and Chilwell and a proven goalscorer. They have good players who could be great but they really do have one of the worst squads, when you take what is needed from a modern football club squad in to account, in the league.

This channel deserves alot more views than it gets. As a Chelsea fan I feel like this analysis does a good job of going over all the salient points and putting them into context.
As an older fan who's seen and heard alot I try to be less reactionary with football and I'm trying to do the same with Chelsea. The strategy from the owners might work in the long term but in the short term it has failed.
I hear...a lot of us younger fans are also keen to see the project work over the long term. But I get the people who are mad and calling for the sack of literally everyone. A slump is one thing, but the club has had a complete downturnand the 3 managers we'vehad since the takeoverjust have this air of cluelessness. And I think one of the most frustratingthings is the recruitment. Like how does the club buy a plethora of wingers, but no real goal threat. Sterling is great as a secondary goal threat, the Nkunku situation was unfortunate but we must remember that these guys unironically purchased Aubameyang, they set themselves up to have any and all future decisions questioned aggressively.

In US sports you can tie players to a long contract and if they fail, just trade them for 6th round pick and you're free from the wage.

I think you are a bit to gentle when discussing Pochetino's time at PSG. There is no shame in failing to win the Champions League with PSG, but failing to win the League with them is. You can always fail to win the cup, even the best team with the best manager can have a bad match and be eliminated in a knockout game. But being inconsistent enough to get fewer points than a club who has about twenty percent of their budget over thirty eight matches is unacceptable and has only happened two times since they became that rich.

There is no assured certainty in football. We've seen it with our predictions start of every season. This is why fans panic, not every fan is a barbarian that doesn't understand a project/process. Fans also do understand there needs to be a hedge in case things go wrong. What was the hedge when Graham Potter was hired for big money long term contract? None. Chelsea relied on his goodwill to relieve major percentage of the owed money after the sacking, and lucky that Potter complied. This is why Pochettino has a shorter contract.
The hope with this project is that with time there's enough of the signed youngsters firing to keep the club financially sustainable. While it might be enough to keep the club financially sustainable, no fan that has supported a top four club in recent history want to sustain mediocrity, specially a club like Chelsea that's synonymous with trophies. The project only truly wins if majority of the youngsters are a big success, which is low on probability scale. Name a club where they signed handful of teenagers and all have gone on to contribute to the club winning tons of trophies and titles for the club. There's almost none, because it's not highly probable. Chelsea have boatloads of them.
So unless there's some change in the way things are operated at Chelsea, this is a low-medium probability high risk move. Already seen a bit of it having the worst season in 35 years (since 1988) last time out. If the luck is on the side then fantastic, but without a hedge of any kind it puts the club into a major uncertainty. Fans have every right to voice what they feel; good or bad.

The new owners have come in and made to many changes to quickly.
They've signed way to many players where majority of them are very young and have very little experience with basically no leaders or experienced players leading them.

The "Is it broken" kinda... well, broke the video for me. The attacks should be launched on supporters, the entire pyramid, from the ruling bodies, through the owners to bottom, is responsible. Supporters desiring wins and showing impatience is just a symptom, not the problem, of the overcommercialized nature of football, with investment groups throwing money at a brand (that's what Chelsea FC, sadly, is) for expected return.
So yeah, Chelsea is selling people a product, no wonder people treat is as such when it's not "working as intended" i.e. winning right away.
