As a Lyon fan I think you haven't talked enough about the late Aulas period. Aulas methods were absolutely outdated and the club priorities felt way more on the business side than the sporting, we were constantly selling promising players for cheap instead of waiting for them to play regularly at Lyon before selling them for a better price (without any pressure from the DCNG), constant investments in non sporting projects (leisure facilities around the newly built stadium) and we haven't seen any of that return in the transfermarket. Truly weird sporting choices such as buying Kadewere, or Dembele... instead of trusting youngsters like Gouiri, and more importantly TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT Aulas always favoured his friends (such as Ponsot) who were behind those decisions, we didn't even have a scouting cell FFS for a club as big as Lyon it is truly appauling (that's part of the outdated methods). When Juninho came back to the club and brought some changes as sporting director with the recruitment of Paqueta and Guimares he couldn't do his job correctly because Aulas wouldn't let him, he had entered into a more or less open conflict with the former management and was forced to leave. Clearly Textor is also at fault but half a season of management doesn't explain all those failures, it was only the continuation of what the club was doing regularly failing to qualify for champions league. Also Aulas influence maybe behind why the DNCG chose to come back at Lyon this hard this season. Finally parting ways with both Dembele and Aourar absolutely made sens. Aoura was only the ghost of his former self, and Dembele didn't have hsi place in the squad with Lacazette coming into the squad

@@ChaingunCassidy I'm in love with him, he's our captain and I couldn't be happier about it, he represents every value that St Pauli stand for, and on top of that he is an amazing player, controls the gaming style to perfection
In the past, Lyon is used to face the European giants like Real Madrid, Barcelona, AC Milan, Manchester United, among the others. However, Lyon considered Real Madrid as the most luckier one. Because everytime both sides played each other in the Champions League, the French side went unbeaten between 2005 and 2010, winning three games (all at home) and drawing three games (all away). They also had two Champions League successful runs in 2010 and 2020, and you know who is the club that ended Lyon's big dream in both cases? Bayern Munich! The Germans beat them 3-0 in the semifinal.
I’m probably not educated on the business workings of FIFA but why in tarnation do they allow one person/entity to hold majority ownership in multiple clubs? How is this not seen as a gigantic conflict of interest?
6 month later Lyon had the best second half of any teal in France 20win out of 27 games, currently in the Coupe de France final and 6th in the league (Europa League)
Vizeh did similar video on Lyon, but he didn't go into details and his research was lacking as well. When comparing to Adrian video breakdown on Lyon downfall. There was much more depth in Adrian breakdown than Vizeh. Just something I've noticed lately 😌 😕

There is one thing that should be added in order to avoid people saying the DNCG is killing Lyon. Lyon is actually in breaching of regulations regarding financial security of the club and many lesser clubs have been relegated or denied promotion for less important breaches than Lyon. If anything the DNCG saved the club by not handing them an administrative relegation.
Lyon has been bought by leverage buy-out. Textor has no money himself, he sell the club properties (the women team, the venue next to the stadium...) to pay for his debt. He didn't have a cent to spent in the transfert window and so we only got low cost player who clearly don't have what it take to be competitive in Ligue 1.
With him saying that this team is central won’t this lead the fans of the other teams to think Textor is treating their team as feeder club for central club?
Textor is destroying so many clubs atm... My club went from 4th division to first in 5 years or so. When Textor came in it all went to shit... Blud should've stayed overseas
Even after the scolding they received from their ultras group after a 4-1 home loss to PSG, they STILL haven’t won a single game and we’re 11 matches in! Absolutely unacceptable and pathetic for such a storied club!
Rabona, please do a feature on the evolution of European football clubs that have been purchased by Americans. Short story: aside from Liverpool and to a lesser extent Arsenal, it's not going well anywhere. And not even Liverpool are top dogs in their country. All of these clubs have been turned into money-making machines that win very few titles and mostly don't even compete for these titles.
In Brazil, there were some clubs who recently got relegated like Botafogo and Vasco da Gama. Even Santos, who produced the great talents like Pele and Neymar, could face the same worst scenario after sitting on bottom of the league following a Mineirazo-esque humiliation at the hands of Porto Alegre-based Internacional.
This is the result of the coagulation of football riches. As more of the moneh goes to fewer clubs, the positions of historically successful teams below that absolute top tier of Europe become more and more precarious. Ajax, Lyon, etc. Teams you would never imagine in the relegation zone or getting the drop.

As an American, I agree any American billionaire should not own any football club if you are not willing to have a winning mentality and investing in players, academy, and getting results. Football is totally different from NFL, NBA, etc.
So far American owners around European clubs have been failing. Rather stick with baseball? its a different game, different rules mainly out the pitch, I guess nobody takes them serious, Im also worried that PSG actually pays off courts and such in order to screw other clubs. I mean if they don't get penalties and restrictions on spending how is Lyon getting this persecution?
Hi, a bit of context from a french supporter : DNCG didn't block Lyon from transfering because of à too large debt; but rather because of how Lyon ( and Textor ) were justifying the debt. The DNCG wanted 60M added on the Lyon bank account, whereas textor wanted to create à 60M account but under Eagle (the company managing all of textor's teams), saying that this money will Only be used for Lyon but failing to give garantees it will be used only for the french team and not Botafogo for example. Why PSG hasn't faced the same issues ? Because PSG, although having huge depts, has always proven to the DNCG it had the means to cover such debt if necessary. French Football, as pretty much all european teams, is loosing money every year, surviving only on added debt so the DNCG isn't too restrictive concerning having debt, but is monitoring quite strongly if clubs have enough resources to not be crushed by it. Hope it help !
