I said that over 10 years ago when I first heard PT. When I started getting into all the old PT catalog I told one of my friends that Steven was this generations Robert Fripp. I was lucky enough to meet Steven in Baltimore once and I also spoke with Steven at length over the phone back when I was involved with an internet music website. A real gentleman and a true artist.
I remember when I was a kid, I listened to the popular radio stations all the time, and times were good. As an adult I branched out and found things that didn't make it onto the radio, and I never really went back. When you get away from the big labels, and mainstream music, artists are free to do more of what they want, and that's where the real talent is. Steven Wilson has always been interesting, but in the last few years he's really put out some amazing stuff. Raven and Hand Cannot Erase are both great albums.
Yes, great to single out Nick for special praise, he adds so much and some may not realise that. A special talent indeed. And i agree with everyone one else here too.....Steven Wilson is a genius and we are grateful and lucky to have him. Take care all.
That ending has to be one of the most pleasing prog moments in the history of prog music - haunting, powerful, sad, reminiscent and beautiful all at the same time i'm finding it hard to grasp how the fuck the universe didn't crumble when shit like this exist

I have seen over 200 high quality shows and the Porcupine Tree concert at the Roxy theater was by far the best sound I have ever heard at a show. Was 2nd row of the balcony. Flat ass incredible. Steven Wilson always surrounds himself with top flight people. Guthrie Govan is one of the best guitarists in the world. This drummer is very very good but still love Gavin Harrison (he's doing quite well with King Crimson and The Pineapple Thief)
Check out Porcupine Tree's Gavin Harrison. It's Stevens band before this. Gavin is the best modern drummer IMO. He's so musical as a drummer and top precision player. He is currently one of the 3 drummers in King Crimson and you know Robert Fripp only has the best. ruclips.net/video/R-Y6DqlNNMI/видео.html
We're so lucky to have steven Wilson . this album absolutely fantastic , it has nothing short of 70's Progressive Masterpieces like Red by King Crimson or Close to the edge by Yes . and Goddamn Marco Minneman is awesome . what a drummer
schpleeb your comment was 2 years ago but may I just say I love your profile pic. I am also both a fan of Steven Wilson and Karl Pilkington (what an odd combination lol)
Just found out about Steven Wilson in the last few weeks. I am amazed by his music. He reminds me of my favorite classical composers with all the nuances he brings to his music. He is a great musician, composer, and singer.
This must be one of the sickest solo's i've ever heard. In a Positive way. I thought Drive home was one of the best, but this one makes me very very happy. This must be the only album with 2 solo's from my top 10 ranking solo's. This is EPIC!!!!!!!! GUTHIE FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!!!!
This song is so perfect it`s scary. And that solo... seen Guthrie live 5 times with various lineups, including S.Wilson and of course The Aristocrats, he is alien for sure. No human can do all that.
The whole song is a immense layering of emotions and every musician on the stage has a huge contribution to the overall feeling of it. The flute guy, the mellow but steady bass section and the keyboard which are awesome. Marco Minneman gives sustain and strentgth to the solo, which is fantastic in his own way, with a stunning drumming. Powerful but groovy as he's capable to do and did.
Absolutely spectacular , emotional , sublime and epic all encapsulated in one song. Steven Wilson's immense vision coupled with an absolutely outstanding compliment of talented artists. For fans of musical truth and art this is a superb experience! Steven Wilson - Guthrie Govan - Adam Holzman - Theo Travis - Nick Beggs - Marco Minnemann >>BRAVO!

Let me just say, God bless Steven Wilson (and all those who play with him) and move them into all truth and righteousness. The Kingdom of God is coming.
I believe the 2:04-4:00 fragment to be one of the most beautiful, dreamy and touching pieces of music I have ever heard in my life. I only wish it'd lasted longer. What a masterpiece....
Yes it reminds me of similar short passages in the early Genesis music particularly their masterpiece Selling England by the Pound album which if you haven't already heard I can strongly recommend giving it a listen.
I like the emotional ride in the melody when the flute comes into the instrumental. This is as good as early prog from Genesis, Kansas, and Gentle Giant
Beyond his compositional brilliance, Steven Wilson has been hired by multiple rock and prog bands to remix/remaster some of the greatest prog albums ever made.
