'Luminol' taken from the 'Get All You Deserve' Blu-Ray & DVD by Steven Wilson out now on Kscope. Get All You Deserve, is a high-definition 4 disc (Blu-Ray, DVD, 2cCD) audio-visual set from Steven Wilson.
Filmed in Mexico City and directed by long-time visual collaborator Lasse Hoile during the Grace For Drowning Tour, the set is a superb representation of the spectacular live experience that Wilson and Hoile created for the tour.
Grace For Drowning was the second album released under Wilson's own name, following 2009's exceptionally well-received Insurgentes. The album, released in September 2011, entered the UK top 40 album chart at #34, both the Dutch and German national charts at #22, the US Billboard Rock album chart at #19 (#13 in independent chart) and debuted at #7 in the Polish national charts.
Following the release of Grace For Drowning, Steven embarked on his first ever solo tour, assembling a virtuoso band, featuring Marco Minnemann (drums), Nick Beggs (bass), Theo Travis (flute and sax), Adam Holzman (keys) and Niko Tsonev (guitars), to accompany him. For the shows he worked extensively with Lasse to create a show unlike anything else he had attempted with his other bands, Porcupine Tree, Blackfield, No-Man or Bass Communion.
The shows submerged fans in a rich sensory experience: rear speakers provide surround-sound effects, giant screens show off Lasse's films made specifically to accompany these songs, and cutting-edge lighting designs giving texture to each song.
Get All You Deserve captures one of the key shows from the tour. Recorded at a sold-out Teatro Metropolitan in Mexico City, the gig features tracks from both Wilson's solo albums along with the new, as yet unreleased, track Luminol.
    Tracklist:
    1. Intro ('Citadel')
    2. No Twilight Within the Courts of the Sun
    3. Index
    4. Deform to Form a Star
    5. Sectarian
    6. Postcard
    7. Remainder the Black Dog
    8. Harmony Korine
    9. Abandoner
    10. Like Dust I Have Cleared From My Eye
    11. Luminol

    13. No Part of Me
    14. Raider II
    15. Get All You Deserve
    16. Outro ('Litany')
The limited deluxe edition of the 4 disc set (Blu-ray, DVD & 2CD) is packaged in a DVD sized hard-back 40 page book and is now available to pre-order from the Kscope store for the early bird price of £24.99 (+ P&P).

'Grace For Drowning' is the second album released under Wilson's own name, and builds on the artistic inroads he forged with 2009's exceptionally well-received 'Insurgentes.'

I think that 10 years from now most people will realize that this was a great era in Progressive Music, led by Steven Wilson. His music incorporates much older, classic stuff from 70s/80s, and at the same time it feels as if his music is way ahead of time. Brilliant musician.

      @TFOLLT 5 лет назад +21

@@psychodelian Oh I think this kind of music will last... But not just Porcupine Tree, the entire Prog genre is a huuuge hidden gem, and one day the world will realise it. Probably not in ten years though, more likely in a 100. Untill than, we, as unknown fans from unknown bands, will continue to preach our children, friends and family the true gospel of Prog, so that it is able to exist for eternity, going from generation to generation(May Pink Floyd be our inspiration). Existing bands like Dream Theater, The Pineapple Thief, Riverside, SW's solo-albums which are almost as good as Porcupine Tree... They will be acknowledged for their true greatness one day, since their music is more than just a message or just a tune, it's a true art, it's pure heart but at the same time extremely technically skillfull and hard to recreate, it's everything combined in all. The flock is just blind yet. One day they will see.

I have had the privilege of seeing Porcupine Tree in Melbourne Australia twice, and both times I was totally impressed with how down to earth Steven Wilson was. The fact they brought the whole touring band, (inc John Wesley) with all their own gear, to a reasonably small show, demonstrates the attitude toward the music and the fans. I would say that Steven Wilson is not only a rare talent, but genuinely respects his audience.

Steven Wilson is for me one of the most interesting musicians of the modern music scene, his broad musical culture allows him to compose music with many facets ... Moreover he is a guitarist of high flight, a singer of great talent, in the current lack of creativity, Steven reconnects with his predecessors of the 1970s ... filled with creativity. I send him all my friendships and admiration! I'm 61 and prog rocker from an era of ELP, Yes, King Crimson, Todd Rundgren's Utopia, Gentle Giant, Tull and on and on. These type groups set the stage for great musicians like Steve Wilson. Fortunately, technology has caught up with some of the groups I mentioned, so they can still play their classics on par with groups like Wilson's, who have been able to play with newer tech since they started. Add it all up and prog never faded, it's the non prog audiences who now get it.

One of my all time favourite Steven Wilson songs that has influences ranging from King Crimson to Jethro Tull to Yes Rush and many of the classic jazz fusion sounds of the 70s / 80s but it stil sounds very exciting and fresh. This is a band of true stars and they deliver an epic live performance for the ages. Nothing but love and respect for these amazing players.

What a beautiful piece. I've listened to this live version over and over, and it never grows old, a bit like Steven! The whole barefoot persona is a homage to his childhood where he disliked wearing shoes or socks at home. It's such a silly thing to nitpick at...he's an artist. In the truest sense. Still in his prime at 45, rocking out and pushing boundaries to spectacular effect. I whole-heartedly believe we haven't heard his best work yet.

NEW Progressive Rock at its' best... A little melancholy at times, but Steven Wilson is like that.. A Miles Davis Keyboardist, Marco Minneman on Drums, a Modern Virtuoso... The Guitarist was later replaced in a bold but brilliant move, by the GREAT Guthrie Govan. Look him up...

Steven has a lot of dark moments; yet they are profound and inspire magical musical stories, such as this, Drive Home, Arriving Somewhere but not Here, to name just a few. Testament to the true genius that is Steven Wilson, and all those with whom he chooses to collaborate. Their sounds and the experiences they emote have made my life a pleasure these hard years worth every day because I get to hear them .
