I miss this band terribly! I love all the other projects from SW, but none of them ever reached that quality, emotion and unique sound. In my opinion this song is just a perfect ending for that wonderful chapter that Porcupine Tree created over almost two decades.
Amen... Wilson is right, dragging it on forever would only retract from the level of awesomeness they achieved. Cherish the memory of them and move on, Steve's solo projects are awesome in a whole different way! Perhaps some kind of reunion in the distant future is all we can (and should) secretly hope for.

What sets Wilson and Porcupine Tree apart from most progressive rock acts is the magnificent pop song writng. It's very heartfelt and literate. One of favorite songs by them here and this live rendition is better than than studio

I was there, and it was amazing. I hope they find a way to get the live video of "Hatesong" out one of these days, because that energy from the Chicago crowd, as well as the performance itself, was just incredible.
Watched them live somewhere in london back in 2001, they were just brilliant. I remember when they played voyage 34 there was this guy watching from the balcony, he got so ecstatic and crazy i was expecting him to jump from up there..That live was so good and to think of it now i feel like "shit. Time flies indeed" 2000 and f 1
Theres like an instrumental loop going around in my head of parts of this song, just imagining all the random patterns Gavins playing, it's a nice thing to imagine!
It's a rarity that's slowly being integrated by modern bands, many are unaware of a fretless existence and are mystified by it. Unfortunately, orchestral music as a whole is largely underrated and often overlooked.

His solo stuff doesn't hold a candle to PT, RTRTS was a good album and it went downhill after that, very mainstream music!
