Leftover #2 from the marathon 👍
Never been a fan of Tainted Love. Lol. Let me suggest one you guy will love… Gold by John Stewart & Stevie Nicks. It’s a fantastic song and I think you all would love it. 😉 Great job guys
This was the subpar remix for their 1991 release. The 1981 original 12" mix that segues with "Where Did Our Love Go?" is the version people should react to.
Yes, this
Or go deeper into the 70’s and react to the J. Geils Band version.
Nick is correct. This is quicker than the version that I remember.
This was a HUGE dance club hit, so good to hear it again!
Yep I certainly remember dancing to this at the clubs😂
I remember there being a version by Soft Cell where at the very end of Tainted Love, they went right into singing their version of the Supremes’ Where Did Our Love Go? It sounded really good - it isn’t on the version you just played. That version is on RUclips as well.
It isn't the original promo video for this songg by Soft Cell and is a remix version released much later :-)
Fantastic track. Over here in the UK during the Eighties this was huge and was extremely popular, not just with the young but also the parents too. The clubs always played it, the crowd demanded it and the crowd all sang along in unison. Brilliant days and brings back great memories. 😊
Im a Virgo as well, Ty. 9/18.... I love the late 70s and the 80s. I grew up during that time and it was the best!
This was huge in the 80’s! Loved the new wave scene-My kids can’t handle thinking 8:09 of their almost 70 year old mom in zebra spandex and purple hair. They handle my hippie 70’s look better 🤣🤣
This is the club version, faster than the original as you thought. Great tune!
This is a remixed version that came out in the 90s.
It was remixed in the 90s. It’s actually about the same Bpm as the original with extra beats layered over the original with new vocals.
Right. The original radio cut was better.
classic 80's synth
There is an extended version with Where Did Our Love Go?
Some radio stations played the long version, which is NOT on the album. I eventually found the long mix on a 12inch single. It morphs into a cover of" where did our love go" by the Supremes
This extended version is the one I grew up on (my local alt station regularly played it).
Brings back some fun memories 😀
Why am I seeing the scene in CONEHEADS with this one 😆
❤Everyone loves this song. Even Marilyn Manson covered this song.
Eerie creepy version but it rocked 🤘🏽😎... the video was more sexual though 🤭😁
Ty, I'm a Virgo as well. And the 80s was the best music and decade to be in your teens 💯
Same. I love the 70s as well
@trb2021 💯 I was born in 1965, so i spent my youth in both decades, which were a blast!
One of biggest hits of all time
❤ I so love this song! Thank you for covering it. Great to see you Ty! 😊
All right, guys, here’s what you need to know:
The answer to the trivia question WHAT SONG KNOCKED “HEY JUDE” OUT OF THE TOP SPIT FOR MOST CONSECUTIVE WEEKS IN THE BOLLBOARD TOP 300.
And you’re correct, the second song, or the addendum was called “Where did our love go?”
and was the second half of this double song.
TAINTED LOVE/WHERE DID OUR LOVE GO? was only released initially as the TAINTED LOVE half. As it was fading down the charts to its eventual place off the charts, a funny thing happened; it was being played in the dance clubs with WHERE DID OUR LOVE GO? Attached to it, and the “new” double song started its climb all the way back up the charts like 13 months after it peaked. Because it never officially dropped off the top 300, it’s rebound caused it to pass “HEY JUDE” for top all time!
Hey fellow Virgo! Always great seeing y'all's "guest" 😊
This song screams The 80s! Thanks guys.
Great song guys!
Had many hits in UK… all of them brilliant!
Those 80s videos were hysterical!😂
This video is from the 1991 remake of the song.
Great song from the early 80's! Great to see Tyler again!
If I remember correctly, Marilyn Manson did his own creepy version of this which is actually pretty good.
Yup. The boys were finding the dressing up box. So many massive 80s hits that pushed the gay cause into the spotlight and had a huge influence on the struggle for gay rights. And you didn't have to be gay to enjoy them because they were mostly all total bangers. This is a cover version but check their own song, Say Hello, Wave Goodbye. Top of the lot for me though is The Communards single Small-town Boy. Check it out. It's all in the lyrics, same with Soft Cell. Us straight chaps danced our socks off back then
😊💜 Classic 80's dance club song too!! 😊🎶💜
This may be the best cover ever. I put it right up there with the Beatles cover of "Twist and Shout". When this came out I was a junior in high school (at Moore in the 502) and I didn't know for years that it was a cover. Seems Gloria Jones' original wasn't that big of a hit here. It at least didn't get much air play on the oldies stations I listened to back in the day (shout out to WRKA). She ended up singing backup for T. Rex and had a romantic relationship with Marc Bolan with whom she had a son.
Fun stuff with the one liners from the guys on this video. It seems like there were several "one hit wonder" groups in the "New Wave" era from the early 1980s out of the UK that did covers of 1960s American songs with more updated arrangements. Personally, my favorite from that era is "There's Always Something There To Remind Me" by Naked Eyes. It is simply a very good song and the cover does a nice job of paying homage to the original but also presenting the song in a fresh light. I would strongly encourage that song/version as a future video. Again, good to see "the dream team" back in action as their takes helped make this a very worthwhile video.
Nick you are very correct the original is a bit steadier this was an awful dance version
“Sex Dwarf” off this album is a synth masterpiece.
Entire album excellent
I like this song more now than when it was first released.
These guys got more than one hit in the United States...
But in Europe they have many hits.
They're more popular outside of the United States. then within.
I didn't know it was a cover. And I never saw the vidoe (not an MTV fan). Thanks for the review. Enjoyed it.
Please react to "Vehicle" by Ides of March. OHW❤
Yep this is the correct speed. But the original has a heavy bass. In clubs the bass was the real hook. This is so high end and tinny it gives the impression of going faster than it really is.
It is so eighties...I love it. 😁
Hey from Cincinnati!!!
🔥🔥 Looking forward to this one
The '81 version is so much better.
That will be interesting. I think it's the song we all heard but never actually stayed with it for longer. All best to you guys!
After watching this vid: I feel like it has always been a great car song for the night railway ride.
Very eighties, fantastic
Spandau Ballet- song "True". Surprise sax.
This song was a cover of a 1964 tune by Gloria Jones. So even the '81 radio version was never original. Ah yes, the '80s, the decade of cover songs.
Interesting thoughts guys! This is catchy to me. Not as long as I thought.
"This song is for horny people." "Grotesque" "Toxic" "Spoiled" "Expired"--You guys are HILARIOUS!!!
🔥
Great tune sounds so much like the band Squeeze so much so that I thought it was done by Squeeze!
oh and yes this version has a more prominent dance bass that the original did not I believe. Over all makes the track way more cheesy
I get it exactly. Is easy to like things. "But not that much". Fits this reaction perfectly.
Have a listen to mark almond and gene Pitney , something’s got hold of my heart
Definitely faster!!
Not the original Soft Cell - sounds like a newer production
This version was totally unnecessary.
Yes, unfortunately it's not the original Soft Cell version
Say hello, Wave goodbye, theirs or David Gray's version.
In the video they were playing with the latest tech of the time that was really high tech in 1981 they weren’t the only ones everybody did it
Nick you are right... There is something off about this version/video. This like remastered or something. Not a fan of this version. The original has a song Baby Baby by the Supremes in it. I have never seen the video. The invisible dot guys are creepy. I like the (original) song - super catchy and super 80s. Another song most everyone has heard
My go to karaoke song 😂
"Say Hello, Wave Goodbye" (1981) may have been a more interesting choice ...
I love that song!
@@csymindspring Yes! And such a creative video ... 🙂
This is not the version we heard in the 80s, I dont like it at all, but originally it was fire
Leonard Cohen - Avalanche
I vote for "expired" as the next word. 😆
"Let's face it. This is a song for horny people."
I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW - that I LOVED this song - as A 10 YR. OLD LITTLE GIRL! - Would you care to take back those words please! 😅
'Soft Cell' is a riff on 'hard sell'....geddit?
You just love saying the word "TAINT" over and over again, Nick. Maybe some therapy is needed there. 🤔🧐
"Tainted Love" was a humongous hit, both internationally and nationally. (I believe this song was #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 for all of 1982. This song reminds me SOmuch of my first semester in high school, cuz that's when the song came-out. (Yes, I'm early-Gen-X.) Loved this song the very first time I heard it, and I've not stopped loving it since then. Even after I became a Metalhead a year and a half later, I have never not loved this song. Still do and always will. ❤ This song became a major gay anthem, too. I absolutely love this song. ❤️
You are correct - this is sped up.
Try Nik Kershaw wouldn't it be good reminds me of this video too
Yep 🤣🤣🤣 looks tainted to me 🤣
Y’all had me 😂 ✌🏽
Would be better to review the original Soft Cell version that was played on the radio. This sped up version in this video is a mess.
I like miore the Top of the Pop version from 1981😊not this
Soft Tainted Love Cell
But, have you heard Sex Dwarf? 😂
yep, you could hate this song, but when it comes on you will sing it and even move sometimes.... lol The original with them signing is better.
You know you guys only did6 Band Maid songs. You still got more than 110 to go.
Do you want some suggestions
No video games them, well maybe Pac-Man
Bro pls can react to enginne no.9 by deftones? If You guys likes passeger i know You gonna love it
Ya it’s always been up beat! Dance song
this is the normal version
This isn't the hit version of the song! Here's the 1981 hit version: ruclips.net/video/CCTBuOheUpE/видео.html
Spoiled Love? 😂
Soft Jail Cell, like in padded cell....
Yeah, the repetitive aspect is what makes it club-worthy, or a "bar song." It was a huge song in its time, not something I'd visit now. By the way, you kept saying "tainted" and all I could think of is "t'aint." Look up the slang of that, you "t'aint" repeaters.
This shockingly horrible video , which I never seen, makes me not like this song as much as I once did LOL
Its a great song. I think when you review a song using the associated video you end up really reviewing the video and not so much the music. Nothing like really listening to a song and analyzing it that way.
I hope it's the long version!
I can already see from the video in the background that it's the "wrong" version. It's Marc Almond's 1991 re-recording. The 1981 original is the only way to go.
0:00
Me too, but it probably won't be. I see what I'm pretty sure is the official video for the remix in the background. That video ends at "Tainted Love". I'm yet to see a reactor play the song straight through the long record version.
@@PaulWhytcrossYup.
This isn't the original radio version which was better.
Not the best version, the mix from the 80s was better.
This is why you should never rely on RUclips. This must be the most awful mix of a great song in the history of mankind.
Not the original version
one hit wonder, i think not
Soft cell had a number of hits and good albums so not really one hit wonders
Love the song, but the music video sucks... 😵
Marilyn Manson's version was slower, The 80s was fast, it will never hit the chart if it's slow imo
This version isn’t the good one !
nope, same speed as always................
Not the correct version :(
Bah, they only played half the song.
Never slower
The worst of 80’s synth pop!! Pet Shop Boys, Dephece Mode and Thompson Twins are what needs to be reacted to!!
I think 80s music is meh.
This is not the right version
Great song. Awful video.
