    I am 64 and have been doing these excercises for 2 years now , everday when pain is particularly bad, I find you very watchable and like the pace that you go, there ar one or two that I find difficult when my pain is bad but I adapt or do another that I can do from my weekly yoga class. Thank you for helping me.

    Hello, my sciatica pain has been getting really bad on my left side. The chiropractor was breaking my wallet and new mattresses are VERY expensive. Finally, after giving in, I decided to search youtube and found your video. Not only does it help my sciatica pain, but when you say "let your eyes sink into their sockets" at the end, it helps me go to sleep at night. I'm one of those "lay there for two hours trying to go to sleep, over thinking" types so thank you, for the sleep and the pain relief!! I owe you big time so if you are ever in Florida and want to sail, look me up!

    Love your video. I have been taking yoga, body flow, Pilates for 16 years. I was taking a body pump class and was not properly stretching before and after each class and developed very tight hamstrings, calves and low back pain sciatica. Have been going through pain for two months. Seeing a PT now, but I just did your video and i feel better. Thank you for this video Candace.

    Hello Candace! Just wanted to stop by and thank you for this healing yoga practice. I have herniated disc in my spine which causes sciatica pain down my right buttock and leg. Sometimes the pain is so severe, it’s difficult to walk. I was experiencing some pain for the past few days. After completing this practice, I feel much better! Thank you for this video :) I love all of your videos (even though I'm still novice and can't do all the poses). I have had sciatic pain from the time I was 7 months pregnant to now (which has been about a year and a half. It comes and goes, but this video helps so much! It's only been three days of doing it consistently and I can already tell a difference. Thank you so much!
    Ps. I am very partial to your videos. They are very straightforward and to the point. I have yet to find another on RUclips that I like practicing with. So thank you and I hope you have a great evening.

    This has really helped me, thank you! I'm so glad you don't have the cat-cow stretch in this video - so many videos claiming to help with sciatic pain include this! Maybe these people never had sciatica - it's VERY painful to round your back when you have it! Your video helps me release tension and increase flexibility in my hips, thighs, legs, and back. SO helpful

    Thanks for the illustrative video. It appears I now have Sciatica pain in the right hip. Started a week back with current shock like sensation once in a while, and today it became a continuous pain, and afraid to put weight on right hip. I have been doing yoga asanas regularly for the last 8 to 10 years 5 to 6 days a week including back routines, and surprised with onset of Sciatica. Are all these stretches meant for Sciatica>

    Great Video Candace! I always find Cow Face Pose is rather difficult to do. I have a question though. Is it bad for the knees to do this pose and the quad stretch? I always feel some bit of tightness when I do those poses.

    • @yogabycandace
      @yogabycandace  9 лет назад

      RishiToronto No, tightness is ok. As long as you're working within a pain-free range you should be good.

    I have horrible sciatica and have been working to get rid of it. As much as I loved this video some of it, especially the split, I could not do. Should I be able to do these moves? Is this a beginner level video or should I start somewhere else?

    • @yogabycandace
      @yogabycandace  9 лет назад +1

      Christopher Grant If you're dealing with major sciatica, I would suggest something like yoga nidra for pain management: yogabycandace.com/online-yoga-classes-1/ or this restorative hip class: yogabycandace.com/blog/hatha-yoga-video-for-hip-flexibility (although this might be too much movement for you right now). Ultimately, if you're dealing with serious sciatica, then no, you probably won't be able to do all the poses. My best advice is that (provided you are cleared by your doc/chiro), to just do what you can do - really focus on opening up the hips as much as you can, and then also look into strengthening the core with something like this: yogabycandace.com/blog/2013/8/28/yoga-sequence-for-core-strength because sometimes strengthening the core can help with posture which may in turn help with sciatica. Whew, that was long winded, sorry! Hope something there is helpful to you.

    Love this video, Candace! Thanks so much for sharing it to help out us unfortunate souls with sciatica. Question: I recently tweaked my back (chiro thinks it's a mild slipped disc that can heal on its own). Do you have recommendations for specific yoga and weight training movements that will stretch and strengthen the muscles of my back/core to help keep my spine healthy going forward? Thanks! Oh, and...#snapfam :-)

    • @yogabycandace
      @yogabycandace  7 лет назад +1

      Heyyyy snapfam! Ouch, that sounds so painful. Once you get the okay to exercise, I would do some poses like any locust variations or supermans. If you hit up the gym and weight train I would focus on the posterior chain because honestly everything in the body is connected. Sometimes weak back means weak hamstrings, so work on hamstring strength with regular deadlifts, sumo deadlifts, RDLs and good mornings. Back or front squat will also be great. Pull ups also great. Rowing. Oh, and ab work! A solid core can be very helpful for low back issues. Hope that helps!!

    overall this a is good sequence but Forward folding is really not recommended for sciatica

  • @timgascoigne2548
    @timgascoigne2548 6 лет назад +1

    Unfortunately this is click bait for sciatica. I spent 15 minute suffering through terrible poses for someone with a tight piriformis. Someone with sciatica cannot do those forward folds as this is what irritates the nerves.

    • @yogabycandace
      @yogabycandace  6 лет назад

      Sorry you feel this way. I was actually suffering from the pretty bad sciatic pain when I shot this, so we'll have to agree to disagree that this is click bait.

    • @jodietroup5197
      @jodietroup5197 4 года назад

      @@yogabycandace Actually I agree with Tim . Not necessarily that it's click bait, but I suffer from sciatica and there's absolutely no way I can get myself into these positions. The yoga might be a bit advanced for me too, but most of the positions, like THE SPLITS are a bit tricky considering any sort of bending causes shooting pain. I can only assume your sciatica is easier to deal with
