I've gotten carried away before but this takes it to another level. CI Games asked me to make a 5 minute animation for Lords of the Fallen, a month later and Alex Martens and I got so caught up in the story we wanted to tell that we wound up here, with this behemoth of a project. these are by far the best ads possible. they are actually enjoyable. they get to tell about the game through joel and im entertained.

@@caprimann87sure, but from what I’ve read/seen lords of the fallen looks to be a decent game, it may have technical flaws at launch but what games don’t nowadays? The ad he did was for Elden Ring it’s amazing that Joel is getting big ad opportunities like these, and the creative freedom to make them in his style of humour
@@TheOldYoungOne yes, some of the flaws can be ironed out, im sure. I dont know so much about the limited variety and the faulty camera. without any recent elden ring/souls-hype this would probably be an overlooked mediocre/good game.
@@caprimann87 I’m not too familiar with most of the problems the game is facing I have been too busy trying to catch up with the recent releases lol, but with the umbral lamp mechanic alone makes me want to check out the game, looks very unique for a souls-like
The best part is they're enjoyable to re-watch.
The absurdity of the dad sitting in the dark then turning on a lamp that immediately burns up when lit cracked me up. Great work.
The roon lit up for a split second and then it turn dark again😂
I had to stop and laugh at that moment...
The dad clicking the lamp on just for it to incinerate was one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

This was an insane two weeks !! I haven't worked this hard on a project in years, and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. So damn proud to say we accomplished this, just the two of us!

Because the friend he made along the way must have rescued the lantern from that horrible monster. All so he could come and rescue his new friend from the horrible Umbral afterlife he had been told was just suffering. I wish I had a friend like that.

First time I’ve ever donated to a creator for just making content period. This here is the best work you’ve made since the RPG line of videos. Seeing his friend with the lantern behind him at his lowest point was honestly kinda moving
This is incredible. Like, legitimately moving. It never fails to amaze me how he crafts such heartfelt stories with objectively ridiculous characters. A constantly panting ghoul family wouldn’t have this level of heart coming from anyone else. Such a Genuinely talented storyteller and all round sweetie pie too.

This is how an actual ad should be. No low effort "buy it now" quip, no annoying talks men person explaining the product, or any artificial scenario involving the product. What we have is a genuine and passionate sponsorship told as a rich story that made me go out and buy it. Thank you for never selling out and the people for the amazing game sponsorship.
That would require content to be good, devs to be allowed to complete a game in a sane time period for a liveable wage without doing 80+ hour workweeks. And if we didn't do all that, how would EA make another $1.2bil this year?

I am so happy his friend went through the congregator of flesh to get his lamp and even went to search for him in the end. I thought this was gonna have a sad ending.
This concept is really funny and maybe wasn't meant to be read way deeper into, but as someone who was raised with my family coercing me into a cult that I didn't want to be part of, cutting me off from the outside world, and then telling me they would cut me off if I changed my beliefs, I resonated a lot with this, like to leave hell, you'd be letting your family down, because they all love hell. It actually made me a little emotional, embarrassingly, but very funny, very good!

I like how all of Joel's videos have a message. In this case, that the real meaning of life is suffering an eternity of torture with your family because it makes your dad proud. Truly an uplifting theme.
I like the Elden Ring one where the message was: if you put your mind to it, you can get over the chest high wall
I think the message was that no matter how bad things get a good friend can make anything tolerable
What... I don't see this at all. I see a story about about the power of friendship more than 'making dad proud." At best, he came to accept his place and role his father wanted but never stopped missing what he had. At the end he discovered his bond with his friend went both ways. His friend missed him too.

Imagine a film maker that can make an advertisement that is actually enjoyable to watch. Joel only you, Alex, and Ryan George are able to pull this off. Some film makers, and actors come alone that just bring something magical to the screen. Joel you and your team are them. If a project comes along someday where you want to film on a 24 acre farm with 100+ year old houses, and a 100+ year old barn just come on down to TX. I'd love to meet you guys.

you have such a way with incredibly impactful endings, the fire scene especially was STUNNING. perfect ending, absolutely adored this. please, make sure to take extra care of yourself in the next few weeks. aftercare is a surprisingly important part of creating art, especially when creating at this level of magnitude in both the physical and emotional/mental effort it took to create and release this. You two are amazing ♥
