The twist is that it's not a limitation of the game. She just happens to be an idiot.
Honestly, that's kinda true for a RPG romance. Their role and the story and whatever side quest that makes up the courtship may be written well but once you tie the knot then all they do is stand around the house/base/ship whatever and repeat like 5 lines.
nah she's good just she had some red bar issues and they kind of just lobotomized her before the clarity clinic opened since that was the previous most efficient method
@@joemorgan2390Yen in W3 for me. Amazing romance that spans the entire game feels so empty when she repeats one voice line in the toussaint house. At least Persona 5 had later (specific holiday) romance events and you could still finish their social link usually.

peasant clothes actually boost the luck stat, and there are very few items that can do that

The Drayloth subplot is so wholesome.
I enjoy the fact the every NPC is so complex in this game that they are able to contemplate the meaning of life, suffering, and peace, yet the player decided to find the one NPC that only says two things without even a cycle and decides that's the true wife material.

In a lot of RPGs with wife mechanics, stardew valley for example, the NPCs have personality before the marriage because that’s what gets you interested in marrying them, but after the marriage, the route is considered “done” and all the wives, no matter who you chose, will have the same bland personality. I believe that is what he is referencing

A therapist that doesn't make any sense to their client, and for the therapist not to pick up on that and ask "would you like to talk to somebody else?" would be a sign for the client to move on. I love how every npc is a highly intelligent AI capable to having emotions ans choosing their own role meanwhile the players wife is just a bot repeating the same two lines
Prev patchnotes stated she was a bit buggy. And whenever she tried to operate any vechicle it would result in an ingame bug of her crashing. For now the devs keep her in bot cycling till they can properly update her.
I'm sure Mods will "fix" it. I'd love to see the topic of Mods that as the next episode.

I love how the only character in the game who is truly limited in character growth is the main character; the NPCs get all the growth lol (except the wife).
To be fair he had a ton of growth already from all his previous videos.

For fun, take a bunch of cheese wheels into a room where the enemy uses missle weapons. Build a cheese wall and then use it as cover.
The cheese part being a very important showcase of how the world in the game is completely static and does not respond or reflect on anything you do outside of maybe mentioning a quest you completed.
Only part he missed was Modding the game itself...

This isn't even a funny skit anymore. It's a whole world Joel just created and displayed through a mockumentary of what it's like there. And that little detail at the end where the annoying green guy finds a gun but they don't explicitly say it, just play the sound, is pretty sick.

Yeah, it's got the theme of "we've defeated the villians and/or redeemed ourselves, now what are we going to do for the rest of our lives?"
Also it continues the theme of how finding meaning purely by killing people is not a sustainable profession, even if the killings are done for respectable and honourable reasons. Eventually you run out of people to kill for respectable and/or noble reasons. Also it points out that most killings are not done for respectable and/or honourable reasons.
Also the series continues the theme of how it's immoral and irresponsible to kill someone unless you are ABSOLUTELY sure it's a moral necessity and/or a necessary evil.
Also it points how how hollow most RPGs videogames are. Many of them are mostly just about murdering people and collecting items.

Part of human history is about war, conquest and plunder. The rest is about other stuff.
Like say a war mongering civilisation like the Roman Empire, Genghis Khan's Horde or Nazi Germany successfully defeated every possible foe. Eventually there'd be no more foes to fight. Then it's far more about stuff like farming and crafting stuff then fighting off rebels and crushing rebellions or fighting any new smaller enemies that they encounter.
Also the vast majority of colonial empires did not pick fights with other kingdoms and empires just to engage in perceived honourable combat and/or protect their citizens, they did it to gain land and resources. Eventually the fighting mostly ceased or subsidied and the tasks of farming conquered fields and strip mining resources dominated.
Life is more "The Sims" and "Farmville" then it is "God of War", by physical necessity.
Edit: I wrote "then it's all about" instead of "then it's far more about" the first time by mistake
Getting a wife and Kid in Skyrim was the most immersion breaking thing. It's one thing doing quests for cardboard cut out people, its another trying to pretend to live together with them.
Stardew Valley is a little bit better - but then your children stop growing. You get home late at night to see them standing with vacant eyes in the darkness, long after your spouse has gone to bed.
They have stopped playing with toys as they once did, they do not speak to you. And the moment you think they are still as the grave, they bolt forward at astonishing speed, and race off around your darkened dwelling...

It's just like blatant requests the first few times and then it slowly becomes more insane and vague eventually resulting in hidden quests like

We will miss how his brain used to be firm and functional, alas it is now mushy and soup.
Apparently the worst thing the old king did was hand government contracts out to his friends instead of putting them up for tender. Which is corrupt, but just a little. Such a shame.
