Reminds me of my fast food job in high school. The place was ran by high schoolers after we got out of school, and the place was super chill. We had a good team, worked well during rush hours, we'd close down and BS for an hour or so till we went home. The owners decided to completely change that up for whatever reason, and I was the last one to leave. The only job I've ever walked out on.

My favorite part of these is just how disappointed or genuinely baffled some of the characters get. Totally normal people thrust into wild and odd situations was a weakness I never expected to have.
We live in wild times that would strike someone from the VHS era as more like a movie premise than a future that could happen. Its like we live in a dumb cyberpunk movie, but it's the real world so mundane shit goes on like awkward conversations. So, I think we've all been both the goblin man, confused and disappointed that the other person isn't acting the part or showing much enthusiasm, and we've all been the galactic emperor, endlessly annoyed at the try hard and just wanting the day to get done and just so tired of having to care all the time.
Also it could be that awkward conversations between weird characters and a straight man are a comedy cliche, idk man.

That's a great idea! Like if the good guys trained and had their character archs and all that and they go to meet the big baddy himself and his son inherented the throne some time in the half way point and is just like " yeah I'm actually a pretty chill dude I'm not really into that evil stuff umm... Want some refreshments or something?"

An underrated art style
It’s definitely not rotoscoping. The artifacting tells me this is some machine learning algorithm. They probably draw the characters first and then the images match irl footage with the AI.
@@noahpeltier I figured they’d first rotoscoped a couple frames out of each shot and edit them to look like what they want, then get an AI to apply the same effect the rest of the video. That’s how you’d preserve those same facial lines on the image even as the face moved...
@@noahpeltier I suspect it's "ebsynth". It's a bit of a reject from AI research, in that it's actually entirely free of machine learning, it's a traditionally handcrafted algorithm. It's described in the paper "Stylising video by example" by
Ondřej Jamriška et al. from Technical University of Prague, published at SIGGRAPH 2019. They came up with a new mathematical formulation for "optical flow", a transformation that follows the movements of a given video, with the difference to prior approaches that it tracks potential occlusion at estimated edges, and also uses edge estimation to maintain sharpness. You paint over several key frames of the video and it propagates the movement forward and backward. The bulk of the paintover can be done for just one frame out of the sequence, and then you can do partial paintovers for a handful other frames to fill in the missing bits and fix interpolation mistakes.

its hilarious because the green guy looks so funny, typical henchman. There is he is, giggling because henchmen are supposed to further the nefarious machinations of the evil galactic emperor. He does his his job, but the emperor is like wtf? So the henchman is just kneeling awkwardly
He is right, if you start big on your first day, like destroying a planet, you have nothing where to go. No one will be amazed, if you destroy another planet, this will just be redundant. I speak from experience here.
Yeah so true, maybe large scale battle formations, banana Republic a few continents then kinda work your way up to that as Grand Finale. BTW if you can only destroy an planet so many ways cosmic radiation insta-kill, Exterminatus through heavy orbital bombardment, meteor strike, Metallic core implosion, but my personal favorite is Super Nova their solar sun.
I started laughing the moment it showed the emperor, just because of the slumpy face and body language. This animation style really does something unique.
Yeah I love it. It has that 70s era sci fi over it but in a very casual, sloppy way that makes it so brilliant to me as visual.
