Flying Flair Airlines ACROSS CANADA! 737-800 Edmonton to Toronto

  • Back in January, I had the chance to try out Flair Airlines on one of their longer flights, from Edmonton to Toronto, with their 737-800.
I've only ever flown with Flair on shorter flights (less than 2 hours) before this, so I was curious to see what they had to offer on this 3.5 hour flight!

Alex… just a tip from a flight crew member… in the future to save some money bring the dry soup with you that you can buy in the store for 30 or 40 cents and then just ask for a cup of hot water to add to the soup. We would never charge for just hot water. Oh… in don't forget to bring a spoon as well.

Ha! Great tip, sir. Now, can you help me out with some other things I would love to sneak through the "free physical exam" from airport security? The airlines never serve enough with meals, such as: salad dressing, salt, pepper, hot sauce, and butter? The rolls are dry as cement. There is not enough salad dressing for even a bite. The salt, pepper, and hot sauce are just there to give flavor to the main dish. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank-you Alex for your succinct, yet very informative review of your Flair Airlines flight review. Indeed, what you pay is what you get, and I have absolutely no problem with those who wish to travel in this manner. I can see how convenient this type of travel is for those only wanting to make a day trip somewhere or travel to where their clothing and personal items are already available. Pretty much, you all have a very nice flying bus.
I did think it was very nice for the flight attendant to provide you with the free soup. I also think it is great that the airline pulled up to a jet bridge for boarding and deplaning rather than park on the tarmac somewhere that would have exposed you to the elements. At least that small perk keeps the passengers out of the elements, which comes in handy during inclement weather and during the winter. Furthermore, when it is cold, passengers can pack their winter coats instead of doing hand-to-hand in the confined aisle of an aircraft when taking them off and redonning them.
Except for that green livery, Flair Airlines seems to be an incredible convenience for Canadian travel. My only problem is being tall and the aircraft having a limited number of seats with extra leg room. I would have to limit my flights to less than an hour without the extra room.
Again sir, thank-you very much for your review. I’m looking forward to your next post.

Never been disappointed in the many airlines I've flown or aircraft such as 727s, Dc-9s, Embraer 195, 737s since the 1970s. Just put me on a plane and I'm happy and not particular.

I heard one person say buying food & drinks on a Flair flight was cheaper than the airport stores. I googled Flair the other day and it came up as No #1 Canadian carrier with the most complaints, but in actual experience I've heard passengers complain way more about A.C. I heard Porter offers free food & drinks but you're also paying a bit more for the fair. I think nowadays in 2023 all airlines are charging for the checked baggage except the one you carry on able to fit underneath the seat.

Flew with them twice last year and once this year a few weeks ago. They are an awesome airline. They offer a lot of value over the other two airlines and their staff, especially the flight crew are super friendly. I really don't know why they aren't more popular. This isn't like jetsgo and zip and all those weird startups from the past that all failed.
Their older 737's had some really old interiors but I think they sold them all and now just have the new 800's which are nice. They seem to have it together for the most part and I can actually afford to see family and friends who are scattered across the country. I wished they had more destinations but recently they added some big ones. Finally going into Sask which is where most of my family is. Hoping they continue to grow and keep the prices low

    Hi Alex
My family and I had a flight last year with Flare from Edmonton to Vancouver on August 22/2019. Upon arriving at the airport 11:30am for a 1:30pm they told us there will be 7 hour flight delay with no apologies and a take or leave attitude. It turn out to be a 8 hour delay. We finally took off at 9:35pm. We will never fly Flare again.

  • @slukas1375

Glad to see Flair gaining ground and adding more planes to their fleet. Canada def needs more (way more) airline competition. I hope they continue to grow and gain market share. More competition = better pricing/options for Canadian travelers. I will definitely give Flair a try once it's safe to travel again.
