Flew in the E2 from Vancouver to Toronto this week, really impressed with these aircraft. The Pratt and Whittney engines were absolutely smooth as silk on take off and crazy quiet. Hope Porter's venture into longer haul service pays off. Also, hats off to their wifi, it was flawless and I had zero issues with it.
Flying in an embraer plane is a wonderful experience, comfort, silence and 2x2 seats... today I choose my flights by aircraft and the E2 is the best. Porter is to be congratulated.
I flew a round trip with porter from Vancouver to Toronto, they honestly offered amazing service, but i felt like E195 is not really a good aircraft to fly this long distance because of its narrow legroom
Agreed, took my first Porter flights a few weeks ago and they far surpass Air Canada and Westjet and any of the budget airlines in terms of service, flight prices and their cabins are very clean, both on the Q400 and E2. They had to cancel a flight because of an electrical problem, but they rebooked us easily, and when my bag was stranded behind by the baggage crew accidently, they did everything to get it to me and delivered quickly.
@@tube.brasil This same channel has a review of the new WestJet's 737 Max interiors, and the E2 has lots more space and comfort, for example, it's way more smooth and silent.
Love Embraers. Did 4.5 hours on a JetBlue e190 from Boston to Houston and honestly it was more comfortable than flying a 737 and about on par with a 319/20/21. Hope the E2 gets more market share moving forward
I flew Porter for the first time recently from Vancouver to Toronto (return). Thumbs up. I love the 2x2 seating format. The E195E2 has a very modern and comfortable cabin and is very quiet. Furthermore, who could complain about the free WI-FI! Wish them success, I think they got a winning product. I had an opportunity and was looking forward to the experience of flying on an Air Canada A220 a few months ago, but about a month or so before the flight, they switched my flight to a 737-Max8; otherwise I would have been able to compare these two jets that are competing in a similar niche.
Flew Porter Reserve Edmonton to Toronto and return the first week of September. Excellent service. Really good passenger load in Porter basic both ways. I'm sold. Sorry Air Canada and WestJet.

Amazing video! I hope to fly them again sometime soon. Perhaps, when they launch US/Caribbean routes on the E195-E2. Loved how comfortable and quiet these aircraft are, especially on longer flights like the YYZ-YVR inaugural back in Feb 2023.
Porter is such an under-rated airline. Ultimately I think this venture into Pearson as a new hub is going to be a bit of a fail. I flew Toronto to Ottawa on the E2 and only 11 seats were filled, it felt like a private plane especially with Porter’s fantastic complimentary selection and in flight wifi. No idea why a q400 wasn’t used but was much appreciated regardless
They use a lot less Q400's for Pearson flights and prioritize them more for the YTZ flights. As for the less passengers on the E2, make sure you're signed up for Porter's loyalty program because on flights like that it can bump you up to a PorterReserve seat for no additional cost! I was randomly bumped to the first row because of that on a Toronto-Halifax flight.
Porter is awesome, the colours and the plane itself are amazing and the flight was comfortable. Ran into some delays but I can't complain all the flights were delayed. Watching the mechanics working on it was worth it, better to fly safe and I'll take a delay no problem.
Glad you enjoyed your Porter Experience! I work for Porter and I think our new jets our beautiful. Also at the time of this post we did in fact receive our 11th jet just a few days ago!

Your comment on Porter's lack of pax is definitely on point. I've taken them 3 times now between YEG and YYZ, the busiest I've seen has been approximately 60% capacity. Which is more than bamboozling to me since the on-board product is miles above even the legacy carriers while the price is comparable to Lynx and Flair. It might just be marketing. Another stunning video (as always) Alex! It's great to see the E2 finally getting itself a place in North America with Porter, I think the type will work well for them since it's not a really big jet with 150+ seats to fill up on routes with stronger airlines competing like this one, but it's still a bigger-sized aircraft than the Q400 with a respectable range to give them some flexibility. Greetings from South America!
Yeah, Porter uses both the E2 and Q400 to the best of their potentials and its working really well. Glad that it pushes Air Canada and WestJet to try to improve their regional plane cabin and service too.
Great video as usual Alex, the E2 along with Porter both appear to be winners and setting the barriers higher, I think the other Airlines will have to raise theirs or suffer the consequencies.

This was Porter's original plan to extend the Toronto Island airport runway. It was rejected by the federal transport minister. So not going to happen. Porter has firmly decided to move to unreliable Pearson with delays etc and loses an advantage they had by being at the small airport with small planes. I know they pretend they will keep a presence there, but they will need to feed their lonhg hauls from Pearson so all cities will start to see flights to Pearson instead of Toronto Island. The writing is on the wall. As happened with City Express, as soon as Porter leaves Toronto Island, so will Air Canada. Except this time, they will leave behind a rather expensive piece of infrastructure compared to the original terminal that was as big as a suburban home 🙂
shortest connection i’ve ever had was about 3 minutes, at LAX of all places. my flight from phoenix landed about 20 minutes behind schedule, and parked right next to my flight to oakland. i got off, walked 10 metres to the left, and i was one of the first on the second plane. truly the best connecting flight experience i’ve ever had
I heard that direct flights toronto to Victoria are starting with Porter, I'd love to see that flight although it would be similar to this just a bit longer
I'm flying Porter from Montreal to Vegas (connection in YYZ) soon. Thanks for the trip report and letting me know what to expect. My ticker was less than half the price of the Air Canada Rouge direct flight on an ancient and cramped A319. Well worth making the connection for almost $1000 in savings! And on far newer equipment too.
Awesome trip report, when I was a kid in 1991, my dad and I flew from Calgary to Toronto in a Boeing 767, and after changing planes, we got into a DC-9 to Halifax. By the time we got into our hotel it was already night time, heh
Thanks for all the info! I fly Porter to YYZ next week and am looking forward to trying them out. Sadly I couldn't swing Porter Reserve, but still looking forward to their experience.
Alex hi from YYC. Thanks for the closer look at Porter. I certainly have know doubt they will make a go of it in the western market. I suspect in the long run they will position themselves in nicely beside Westjet. It will just take some time and marketing as this is a Westjet city for obvious reasons. The new Embraer's look fantastic inside and out. Thanks see you next time.
Nice report Alex, thank you for posting this. I'm flying Porter from YOW to TPA return in December (via YYZ) in PorterReserve, I'm looking forward to giving their E2 a try. Cost was just under CAD$1,000 which seems pretty reasonable to me for quasi-business class. I've done YOW to YTZ a couple of times in their Q400 and was impressed.
Waiting for Porter to fly out of Regina to both Toronto and Vancouver. Since my children live in both places I often go to both ends of the country to visit.
I’ll be going to Ottawa with my mom this late August from Vancouver, and I settled on this airline after realizing what they offer, and that they plan to do direct flights between both cities starting this summer. But seeing this video only further solidified that I couldn’t have picked a better airline for what is a great deal doing a round trip. Alex, if you get the chance, can you do a trip report of Porter’s inaugural flight from Vancouver to Ottawa?
Glad you enjoyed it! The flight loads have definitely been a bit topsy turvy, but there has been steady improvement this spring/summer. The loads between YYZ and YUL/YOW are generally pretty light as far as I can tell. I thought it was because we were kind of cannibalizing our own flights (already have fairly high frequency to both airports from YTZ) but apparently they are serving a purpose, the shorter turns get line indoc sectors done quicker for new pilots (I remember Air Canada initially deploying their first few 787s on Ottawa/Montreal/Halifax turns out of Pearson in 2014 for this purpose), plus we are picking up Transat interline passengers and a few others things. Apparently we picked up a number of YYZ slots that WestJet recently vacated, which had significantly better arrival/departure times compared to the original slots- so that, along with the busy summer travel season, has helped fill up the western flights a decent amount. I've jumpseated on the E2 several times, and the last 2 or 3 times I had to take the redeye flight coming back from YVR since the other flights were all full. I agree there should definitely be more emphasis on advertising/awareness out west since Porter is still building a presence in Western Canada. My head is still stuck to the ceiling in the E2 washrooms as well, but I'll take the touchless flush, soap and hot water any day over the "outhouse" I'm accustomed to using on the Q! 😁
Great coverage of Porter, Alex! Fingers crossed that Porter as well as the other ULCC's (Flair, Lynx) make a go of it. We most definitely need more airline competition in Canada. I'm looking forward to Porter's start up serving Kelowna. Thumbs up from YLW.
Pratt and Whitney seem to have a thing for whale tones on their engines-their GTF and their PW4000s all have this whale tone on spool up, to me one of the best sounds in aviation.
Wow! You had a really good idea for that video! 🎉 anyways i fly WestJet out of Calgary to Halifax to visit my dads parents (they live east coast) I love the Embraer fleet and your adventures! 😊 also the sounds of those engines at 4:24 amazing! 🥲 wish I went on a flight again

Hey Alex, Loved the video! Truly wanted to know what it was like flying Porter and now I can see that I might change my loyalty. If I may, I think me and other viewers might enjoy seeing more of your face, especially in the bathroom tour. At least it matches the sound to a face 😂 as you come across as someone very cheerful and I think that might add a bit more of a touch. Anyways, always looking for your next video. Keep up the great work! 👍💯
Alex! You yada yada’d the departure from Toronto 😂. Just my opinion, but you could have left the entire climb out in the video. I really enjoyed my one and only trip on Porter. I look forward to flying with them again. Another great video, Alex! Thanks for taking us with you.
if he uploaded the entire climb, the video would have been alot longer and would take alot longer to upload and edit. a majority of people skip the climb anyway so that would be bad for audience retention
You hit the nail on the head with the reference to limited options over on the east coast. Hopefully now that Swoop is amalgamated with Westjet, those former Swoop aircraft will be used for Westjet to fly more airports in the east coast again that they cut early this year.
Alex, thank you for this review! Porter's value proposition from YYC are for bargain hunting & leisure flyers. If you're a rare flyer going for a vacation or such, their pricing, service, & fewer density in the plane is really lucrative. But for business travelers like me, Aeroplan & Star Alliance is a huge difference maker. Delayed flights in winter & waiting it out in a lounge and knowing your flight is covered are enough for me to opt for the relegated service of AC. Really hope Porter succeeds & that they can maintain their service levels coz they are bringing Asian carrier level service that we badly need in this airspace.
I'm excited to try out Porter from Edmonton someday soon. I think their superior passenger experience will differentiate themselves from the crowded competition on the Toronto routes.
@@richardbanks6025yeah after trying them, you are definitely wrong. I have a Porter status so I got to try both Porter Reserve and their regular PorterClassic seats and I must say Porter has done an amazing job with these new planes because I have never experienced such great legroom on a domestic Canadian flight. I hope they really survive the competition on these new routes.
Just booked a Porter flight from Ottawa to Vancouver return. Price was good but an extra 400 $ for seat selection and one carry on each. Looking forward to it.
Been watching a huge new hanger being built at the south end of YOW. The Porter name has recently been put on it. Assuming this is great news for Porter.
Very solid flight and airline service indeed! I like that you added some music as well, Alex :) I try to add music background into my videos as often as it is suitable. It helps a lot!
I have wanted to fly Porter for years but never had the opportunity. Last fall sitting on my plane at YYJ I saw a Porter plane next to us. "Ulo, ulo?". They were training their ground crews and were going to start YYJ to YYZ service. "Yes!". Last week I finally flew with them. It was great. Not so big on their marketing, but the actual flight and service were great. Like a throwback to the 60s or something. Plane left on time to YYJ and a bit early (with all accounted for) back. Plane was only 2/3 to 3/4 full and I had nobody beside me. I am taller so if plane was full I might have found it tight. Staff, food, snacks all great. The only bad part of my whole trip was the drive home on the 401. But it is worth the drive to fly Porter, rather than Flair or WJ. Flair was pretty well always late, and the last two times WJ has canceled my YVR to YYJ leg.

shortest connection i’ve ever had was about 3 minutes, at LAX of all places. my flight from phoenix landed about 20 minutes behind schedule, and parked right next to my flight to oakland. i got off, walked 10 metres to the left, and i was one of the first on the second plane. truly the best connecting flight experience i’ve ever had
I love the engine view here. I don't know why, but I absolutely love when you can see through the engine because of how large the bypass section is.
I heard that direct flights toronto to Victoria are starting with Porter, I'd love to see that flight although it would be similar to this just a bit longer
Breakfast looked very good!
I like both the quality, as well as the simplicity!
We flew from Toronto to Vancouver, and we really enjoyed the trip. The service was great
I'm flying Porter from Montreal to Vegas (connection in YYZ) soon. Thanks for the trip report and letting me know what to expect.
My ticker was less than half the price of the Air Canada Rouge direct flight on an ancient and cramped A319.
Well worth making the connection for almost $1000 in savings! And on far newer equipment too.
They are terrific
Love you Trip reports. Such a pleasure to watch. Thank you!
I was super excited when Porter came to YYC, I can't wait to fly them next week to YYZ, hopefully theyll have flights to Orlando soon!
Porter announced they will be starting service from Winnipeg to Toronto September 2023, so happy about this!
Yes, that's correct, but now codeshare with Transat, the loads for YUL quite full
Porter did a great move, jet engines are way quieter. Also i think they want to change the company image, not just flight for business people but also for everyone
Nice review, wish to see porter expand further.
It's coming. USA hot destinations I'm waiting for them to make the right time to announce this year
Nice video, and looks like a great airline. Good job!
Loved the video Alex. I've always wanted to go on Porters E195-E2 😅
Welcome (back) to my part of the world! Porter looks like a fantastic product for fligts of this length
Surprisngly. Norway has their own version of porter. Although much older, they also only operate dash 8's and E-JETS.
Your meal did look nice and tasty and a rather unique way of serving it....thanks!
can't wait to try next time!!
Ya those trailing link landing gears give soft landings almost every time. No other airliner has them. A small detail but an interesting one....
I'm excited to try out Porter from Edmonton someday soon. I think their superior passenger experience will differentiate themselves from the crowded competition on the Toronto routes.
Flying from YYZ to YVR in August - been waiting for this video for a long time!! 😅
you will hate the seats for that long haul
@@richardbanks6025 Air Canada, Westjet and Lynx all have worse legroom
@@richardbanks6025yeah after trying them, you are definitely wrong. I have a Porter status so I got to try both Porter Reserve and their regular PorterClassic seats and I must say Porter has done an amazing job with these new planes because I have never experienced such great legroom on a domestic Canadian flight. I hope they really survive the competition on these new routes.
Love the E2 GTF engines! Sound like baby GENXs when spooling for takeoff.
Just booked a Porter flight from Ottawa to Vancouver return. Price was good but an extra 400 $ for seat selection and one carry on each. Looking forward to it.
Beautiful video!
Been watching a huge new hanger being built at the south end of YOW. The Porter name has recently been put on it. Assuming this is great news for Porter.
Oh wow, the breakfast looks great! Good for PD
Very solid flight and airline service indeed! I like that you added some music as well, Alex :)
I try to add music background into my videos as often as it is suitable. It helps a lot!
Thanks! Flying Porter tomorrow!
I love watching these airline videos. Ive never heard of porter and enjoyed the video. New Sub!!
I would Love The fly on Porter Airlines Embraer E195-E2's whenever there ready for The Caribbean flights Awesome Video Alex nuff respect to all your Videos on Aviation and Travel keep going and Dream Big on Aviation 100%
Can't fly to the Caribbean, don't have the range
@@richardbanks6025i think embraer is planning on making an ER, dont count on me tho lol.
