I was on this flight and wasn’t to far ahead from you, it was such a great flight and one of the best in Canada. I was part of the dancing group that danced at Toronto air north event after we landed. So cool you showed are First Nation’s flag (Vuntut Gwichin)
Didn’t realize they’d equipped (at least one) -500 with winglets. Didn’t know it was even an option, if I’m being honest. Looks sharp, and looks like they keep their plane(s) in great shape. 👍🏼 Congrats to Air North, “the little airline that could.”
i actually thought that, being an inaugural flight with ? the company president? on board, they might have run the plane thru the wash bay first. I dare say the majority of people can't tell a -300 from a -800 (or max even) but the time worn look of the wings sure made it look "tired" to my eyes. Still a nice video and beautiful views of the vastness of Canada.
Shouldn’t be a problem to equip a -500 with winglets. I work at Southwest. Most of our 300s had winglets installed except aircraft that were leased or were close to retirement. The -500 has the same wings, same engines, just a shorter fuselage. No problem with winglets. I personally loved the -500! Being lighter than the -300 and having the same engines, it was overpowered sort of speak. Less passengers, better range. A -300 wouldn’t be able to do this flight I can guarantee it unless it was empty of passengers and cargo. I do miss the classics sometimes however the Max makes me realize how good we have it now lol
The company I work for is actually responsible for fuelling Air North when they come to Ottawa. It's always nice having them come in as it's a nice mixup from our usual customers of private, medevac and business aircraft, and the crews are always very pleasant.
Thanks so much for keeping us in the loop about the different Canadian airlines and the new routes and services they offer. A service long overdue in my opinion. I also enjoyed your trip form Calgary-Vancouver with the inaugural flight of the new Lynx Air. Canadians need to know of these services to take advantage of them, and as far as I can see you’re the only person taking the time not just to point them out, but actually fly the routes and report on them. Much gratitude and keep up the great channel. PS- Believe it or not one of my favourite episodes was your flight fro Edmonton-Calgary on a Small twin engine job, (Saab?), the name of which escapes me at the moment
This is a game changer for the Yukon. I lived in Whitehorse fir 18 years in the 70s,80s and early 90s and it was always a pain having to fly to Vancouver for 2 hours and then start flying east. Give me those old Southwest seats over the new ones anyday.
Glad you were able to take this flight. As a Yellowknifer who moved to Ottawa for university in 2016, I've benefitted greatly from Air North's previous YYZ-YOW nonstop
I had no idea Air North provided so much excellent service! If I ever find myself going to Whitehorse I will definitely look forward to this airline! Wow!
Fascinating! Amazing to see the variety of Canada’s indigenous languages written on the board at check in and the welcome speeches!! Never flown on the 737-500 but I’m sure when I hopefully visit Canada, I’ll fly on one and other retro aircraft and travel the country. Super footage and in depth review on this then new route. Impressed the interior is in such great condition! Ace video 🙌
I just love Air North. I already flew on their 737-500 and 737-400. On a flight from Victoria to Whitehorse we had two full drink services, a snackback with a sandwich, oranges and cheesestick. And of course the hot cookies... Just amazing 🤩👌
What a great flight! Something I'd like to try out one day. Perhaps Air North may be incentivized to obtain a 73G or 738 to make this flight a nonstop one from Whitehorse in the future.
Wow, in the past few days, we got Condor Airlines back at YVR, FlyBe back in service, and this new inaugural route! I would definitely like to try Air North sometime!
Great video. Congratulations to the good people of The North and best of luck to Air North in this and all their future endeavours connecting fellow Canadians.
Alex, thank you for taking an AWESOME compromise seating position. You can still see the engine, but more importantly, you can see the flaps do their thing! Great video!
Great video and coverage. What a wonderful airline. Everyone seems to have such a sense of pride. The Toronto flight will probably do very well for them. Meal service is a bonus, and it looked delicious!
I have flown on all their 737 and all their ATR for 3 years. In all of their 737, row13 Alpha and Foxtrot seats auto recline when takeoff thrust is set. I have complained to flight crew. Nothing done.
Hy Alex, Have you ever done a trip repot on one of the Buffalo Airways flights in one of their vintage aircraft? BTW, really have enjoyed all of your trip reports!
I don't imagine there are very many southern Ontario people eager to see the Arctic. Mostly territorial officials travelling I imagine. I was a bit surprised to see that the MP sent to represent them was an Anglo who could"get things done rather than a ceremonial First Nation who couldn't even find a bathroom or even knew they existed!
Same name, but totally different airline than I tried to experience in 1990 when they flew DC-3s and despite booking with mention I had bicycle, despite arriving early and announcing myself to check--in, by the time I had disassembled and packed my bike and luggage, one of the pilots came and told me there was no room for me. Thankfully the airline next door ( second check in you showed for Air North next to windows) was Alkan Air told me they had a flight but I should first check with their people downstairs. Check in brought me to airside on tarmac with my bike, and I spoke directly to their luggage people who asked how much O could disassemble bike and then they said "sure, we can fot it in, just arrive early". So they sold me ticket. So I arrive later in afternoon, get my ticet and proceed to the baggage folks on tarmac, disassemble the bike and hand everythiong to them. The aircraft was twin engine Piper PA31 and the whole back was filled with mining equipment and somewhere in there was my bike. I have a photo whyere all you see is the seat protruding from some large bags of stuff :-) We were only 2 passengers with the pilots. When I landed at Dawson (amazing landing BTW), the Air North DC-3 was there. At least I got to see it. They had mechanical and made emergency landing and couldn't continue to Old Crow.. had so been loking forward to flying DC-3, but their treatment of me permanently turned me off them, certaintly not the spirit of the North that I experienced on other flights. (Forst year, they held the Delta Air flight from Yellowkife to Whitehorse for me (came in from late CP flight from Inuvik) and the CP flight attendant told the baggage folks to get my bike and baggage direct to teh Delta Air plane. Passed through the office and onto the plane. I had delayed the lieutenant governor and his wife who had come back from long trip across the Arctic. The best ? I only bought the ticket after we landed at Whitehorse. Yes they held the plane for someone who had called in a reservation and hadn't paid the ticket yet ! Obviously, today's Air North is different from what I experienced. But there used to be a number of samller carriers in the Yukon (such as Delta Air that did Whitehorse-Yellownife and others) and they all seem to be gone now.
Very enjoyable video...I flew out of Whitehorse many years ago and liked seeing it again. When I was there the DC-3 was on the ground. Thanks for the post.
Great video Alex. It's nice to see some smaller airlines linking the North to Canada's largest cities. Same thing is happening here in Québec. Air Canada has totally neglected and abandoned the North; not enough money to be made I guess.
I Love this Trip Report with Air North Airlines I hope to see them upgrade there fleet with Boeing 737-700's and 737-800's Next Generation Jets hopefully in the upcoming years then to the Max later Awesome Video Alex keep going.

I've only ever flown one trip on Air North (Vancouver -> Whitehorse -> Dawson City), but they were a class act. Have to do it again some time.
I had no idea Air North provided so much excellent service! If I ever find myself going to Whitehorse I will definitely look forward to this airline! Wow!
The complimentary food on such a flight looked delicious. Surprised they didn't give the flight a water cannon salute in Toronto.
Congrats to AirNorth Welcome to CYYZ . And Same to Alex Welcome back to CYYZ. Happy to have you all !!!! Thomas
Always loved those old SWA seats from my Texas and Oklahoma days.
Even if I am 11 year's old, I still love aviation and I love your videos!
That feeling when you are in an inaugural flight...wow🤩🤩
Nice video ❤

Beautiful to see Air North’s flight to Toronto. Delighted to see our smaller Airlines expanding.
I just love Air North.

how about acquiring A220s?
@@mississaugaicedogs far too new for a relatively small airline like Air North.
They have ordered two A220s
Love this ❤️ I worked for Air North back in the days when they flew DC3s, loved them then and feel so proud to see how they have grown
Thank you for telling the world about air north I’m from Whitehorse
Wow, in the past few days, we got Condor Airlines back at YVR, FlyBe back in service, and this new inaugural route! I would definitely like to try Air North sometime!
Congrats on the inaugural, Alex! Wow wow! I'll put Air North on my to-do list for when air travel gets a little less restricted.

The interior is straight out of 1995, but I would not expect much more from a Northern Airline.
Great video. Congratulations to the good people of The North and best of luck to Air North in this and all their future endeavours connecting fellow Canadians.
Incredible clarity .....great video.
Well done and interesting video. Great detail on the aircraft and Air North.
Alex! Thanks so much for sharing this exciting inaugural flight, hope they decide to increase the frequency if it does well.
I like your video and Thanks for your sharing
Air North makes me wanna visit the far north! Someday I will! Thanks again for another great video Alex!
Bison sheppard's pie? Interesting, I made myself a bison frittata today for lunch.
Great video. This aircraft has a very cool history!
Alex, thank you for taking an AWESOME compromise seating position. You can still see the engine, but more importantly, you can see the flaps do their thing! Great video!
Great flight, nice video!
Thank you for providing your videos in a concise way and which satisfies the aviation enthusiasts "want to see." You're the best!
I love Air North and there cookies I will be checking this route out soon
This was one of your most enjoyable videos, keep them coming.
Great video and coverage. What a wonderful airline. Everyone seems to have such a sense of pride. The Toronto flight will probably do very well for them. Meal service is a bonus, and it looked delicious!
Awesome video Alex. Love seeing the beauty of Canada. Best wishes from your neighbors to the south in the United States.
Excellent video.
Wow, that is so awesome, and great video as usual Alex.
Great video! That meal looked awesome. Comparable flights in the US give coach passengers a Biscoff cookie.
I think it would be kinda neat being at Pearson airport and see the orange Air North fly in.
You should fly out to Comox soon and check out the military operations there, it’s pretty awesome
IT SAYS MARGARINE RIGHT ON THE CONTAINER ALEX GODDDDDD
Awesome video Alex! The last time I flew on a 737-500 was in 2006 with United. They’re not easy planes to find anymore.
Never really where. The 400, 500 and 600's never sold all that well. The vast majority of 737 classics where the 300's.
Great trip report Alex...:):):)
Lol I saw u in the plane with the cam ❤
Great upload as always!
very nice
Really great!
Great Success!
Awesome!
I wish I got to be on that flight but a couple of my friends were so tons of photos.
Amazing that they serve free hot meals !
But no arrival water salute?

Hey Alex great video! Was curious the flight tracking software you were using!? Would love to use something like that while in flight
Very nice 👍
Let's go! ✈️
Great video!
Brandon at the end lol 😂. Great video, Alex!
Very nice!
Interesting that Air North gets to use the T1 facilities at Pearson.
T3 is supposedly out of gates, plus they have interline baggage with AC so I think that may have played a role.
Pretty sure it’s just the gate space since Lynx Air services T1 instead of T3 too
Very enjoyable video...I flew out of Whitehorse many years ago and liked seeing it again. When I was there the DC-3 was on the ground. Thanks for the post.
I noticed the plane stopped at terminal one gate. Is it somehow affiliated with AC/Star Alliance?
Was that Quinton from QFS Aviation?
What is the app you use in the video during the flight? You show it at 12:04 in the video.
Same question here 😅
What camera do you use?
Great video Alex. It's nice to see some smaller airlines linking the North to Canada's largest cities. Same thing is happening here in Québec. Air Canada has totally neglected and abandoned the North; not enough money to be made I guess.
They have the 737-200's right?
@@RunawayTrain2502 2 operators in Quebec have 737-200; Nolinor and Chrono Aviation. Air Canada has the 737 Max.

An amazing video of a very exciting new route! Just curious, what software were you using to track your flights progress while airborne?
Foreflight
Try Cayman Airways
You must be from Trono
Alex is from Calgary, he explains this in many videos!
Now the big question is, did you wear your party hat off the airplane? 🙂
I think I just heard someone in the background say "I'm a Libra"
Did they give you a free ticket, or if not, what was the fare?
$254.45. I always disclose if the flight is paid for (which is far rarer than most think).
Tronow or Toronto?
Good trip report but if you're going to make a video about flying, don't fast forward through take off and landing.
Could you please slow down on your commentary, so it can be absorbed by everyone. It seems that somebody is chasing you. You don't have to cram too much information on your nara time.
