Bashi…you are the SQUID MASTER!!! I was looking for an ultralight setup to use exclusively for squid. I settled on a 4wt. graphite fly rod with an ultralight spin fish reel with 6# test line. It’s brand new and I haven’t even wet a line with it…but I want to. I’m a beginner to squid fishing in every way…I’m counting on your videos to help me get on the squid! I’ve even got 2 store bought jigs (1 red/glow white and 1 green/glow white). I’m really itching to go. Maybe even give it a try tomorrow evening! You’ve inspired me to try it for sure!
Hi my friend, I was using a 5wt fly rod, but 4ft should work just fine; Squid fishing is not hard, with the fly rod you can feel the bite easily. Now is the right time, wish you get a lot of them.

what do you mean by mark or ping your line to the reel 5:40 how do i do that on my fishing pole? im constantly counting to refind where the depths are for the squid

bashi i love your smaller 1/5oz jig. i use a glass top jig, the 1/5 jig, and a weighted 3/4oz jig. the 1/5 jig gets around half of them!

In the side of your reel, you can find a small part which you can pin your line in, it's usually a small plastic piece.
