Consistency is what finally made my hair grow thicker and healthier than ever, I can't believe how lazy I used to be. Now, I'm still a lazy natural BUT NOT at the cost of the integrity of my hair and scalp.

I had to stop doing length checks so damn much. Once every few days. Twice a week. Once a week. And taking out the tape measure! Like omg. 😳. lol Once I stopped obsessing about it my hair was like, “thank you for not pulling us” lol. That extra pulling all the time to check my length is what was hindering my length in the first place. Thank goodness I’m over that now 😂

My hair absolutely hates coconut oil for some reason. I was wondering why some products wouldn't work for my hair and saw coconut oil high on the ingredients lists in products my hair said no to. Stopped ACV rinses and will never do them again. I had no idea that acv breaks down protein and kept doing them jumping on the bandwagon. My hair kept falling right out of my head and thinning and finally got to the point where it fell out in clumps and had to big chop. While they work for some, they don't work for everyone. One thing I had to stop doing is using a brush to detangle my hair almost every step of my wash day routine. Before I use a brush I would ensure my hair was moisturized and finger detangled. FYI. I would use a brush to detangle during pre-proo. Then I would use a brush to detangle with conditioner and use a brush while I apply my leave-in in the shower. And then also use a brush while styling. I figured because I was using a highly recommended detangling brush that I needed to use it for every step to prevent tangles because my hair is super prone to tangling when it is exposed and shrunken.
Although it is helpful to detangle my hair with a brush, I was using too much mechanical manipulation and I would be pulling a lot of hair out of my hair every wash day. Now I only use a brush to detangle during the conditioner step and sometimes styling, I finger detangle for the other steps and I believe it has reduced the size of my wash day hair shed or breakage. When I first noticed the problem, at the end of every wash day, I would save the hair balls from my shedding/breakage , dry them, put them in a ziploc bag and label the date of my wash day. I did it for several(6-8) wash days every 2 weeks to compare the size of the hair balls overtime. And since I decreased the amount of steps I use a hair brush, my hair balls have been decreasing. Also after every wash day, I examine the hair ball to see how much shedding vs breakage I had. I realize I was shedding a lot and started incorporating green tea rinses and Ayurvedic herbs. So now I use a very wide tooth comb, and finger detangle. I only use a brush for 1 or 2 step.

Shanta, I was also suffering from a scalp infection. This has helped me a lot!!! That my scalp is back to normal now. Every two weeks I would wash my hair. I would make four sections, then on the scalp only apply apple cider vinegar (8oz water to 1.33Tbs of apple cider vinegar) for 3 mins per second then wash it out after wash my hair with shampoo in four sections put shampoo on scalp if you have a shampoo brush, apply shampoo then with your finger TIPS no nails gently scrub scalp then use shampoo brush scrub then rinse out then apply shampoo again use finger TIPS only for about a minute scrub then move on to next section do this for all the sections . Always use lukewarm water. Then after on hair only apply deep condition and detangle a second make a twist leave deep condition according to the instructions on the bottle rinse out with Lukewarm water then move on to next section. After use a Leave -in conditioner on hair only no scalp then on the scalp I would apply sulfur 8 then make twists, I would keep them till next wash day in two weeks I did this for two months and my scalp is back to normal I hope it helps ❤️

Coconut oil is evil to my hair. The breakage is not pretty. Whether permed or natural. My hair was rough, and it didn't dawn on me until about five years ago. The weak spots in scalp always suffered. I made my own butter and oil blend from two sistas that really know hair. One suggested that coconut may be the culprit. My butter and oil blend was making friends and family hair look great, mine...not so much. Once I forgot coconut oil for my mix. I would make these every spring and fall,, different blend for different seasons. My hair took off in the growth category. I had health issues in 2020 through 2021. My hair still grew like crazy, I thought it was the steroid therapy that I was on.. It's softer and longer still 4c, I guess, well it could combination 4b/4c and can see that now. One grandmother had thin 4b and my other grandmother had that thick 4c. I don't mind having both on my head. My hair is thriving with moisture treatment and oil/grease every two days. I use the LCOG method, hair is still thirsty and this works for me. Thank you young lady, The Nana has a head full of hair.

Hi Tonya, I was just recovering from protein overload but I used aleovera because I thought it was ‘hydrating’ I ended up with hair as stiff as stick and I am scared that I have started another journey of protein overload. Do you have any tips? I have seen more hair breakage this year than I have ever seen in my entire life. 😢

Hey quick question. Is it true Water damages your hair. For example is it bad if I soak my hair in the shower morning and night. As an athlete I shower twice a day. If true can you explain. I like how your channel backs things up with science. Thanks

Hey can Ucuuba butter penetrate hair strands? I am also very confused if olive oil can penetrate hair strands (i see a lot of conflicting studies) or it just best as a carrier oil.

Do you think AHAs weakens hair strands, for example if I use glycolic acid or lactic acid, or salicylic acid on my scalp do you think it would negatively affect the hair strands

Get screened for diabetes as well. It affects every system/organ in the body including skin and hair. DM interrupts the life cycle of a hair follicle. Ask me how I know 🤦🏾‍♀️

I don't recommend baking soda on our hair, it's too risky and can lead to damage.
