My #1 Wash day trick - NEVER EVER skip a deep conditioning treatment. My hair is the healthiest and fullest it has been in years since I stopped applying heat… and started deep conditioning regularly.
Wash Day Trick: covering my hair with a plastic cap AND winter hat for insulation of hair treatments if you don't have a thermal cap and/or need to run errands. Body heat works too.
@@ileanasantamaria2364 Let us know if that works. I prefer the winter cap since it also catches any leakage if you unfold it by the nape, but a swim cap might prevent that.
My #1 wash day trick is to towel dry my hair in sections before adding product. I couldn't figure out why it was taking my hair so long to dry and this was it. It also allowed the product to absorb better because my hair was more damp than wet. Literally cut my dry time in half!
I do the same. I also shake the excess water off my hair similar to the way a dog shakes water off its body🤣. I use an old t-shirt or a t-shirt towel and gently squeeze the water out of my hair.
Finger detangle (from a high porosity gal) when you have high porosity hair it’s no fast wash day…that’s if you want length retention, tangle free and hair filled with moisture…you best not mess any of those steps…lol at least for me I’m not lol I just carve out 1/2 day…throw on some Jazz music and go for what my hair loves ❤
Agreed with all the tricks! My number 1 trick is washing my hair more often once a week during winter twice a week during summer my time in the shower is definitely shorter since then
Prepooing with coconut oil and washing my hair in sections. My hair dries a lot faster since it's not taking in excess water, and it's easier for me to moisturize and comb through since it's already in sections.
I think my no. 1 and the one I have to work on the most is getting in the right mindset. Happy hands and happy thoughts are key to hair care. It should be fun and freeing not a chore. Planning on getting some more hair content on my channel. Thanks for this video!
I love African Pride PrePoo, it has so much slip and the curls are popping! You are so amazing and thanks for all you share, Happy to be Nappy, thanks to your education.
Yes! I spritz my hair with water and add shampoo. It loosens as I detangle and add just a touch of conditioner. Then I wash it all out and warm up some nice oils to put in my head with the conditioner. Then I play in the mirror and detangle until I feel like washing it out. 20 minutes max!!
I 100% agree with you.. seeing “wash day” as a “self care” day really helps changing that negative mindset of the thought of “having” (chore) to do your hair. I love prepooing my hair b4 wash. I normally use aloe Vera or a mixture of aloe Vera with a conditioner (that Normally) has no slip. My favorite brush is tangle teezer (the purple one) love it to detangle & also style my hair.
I’ve changed the way I handle & care for my hair . I never use anything but my hands , I d’étranglé my hair with my hands, I massage my scalp with my hands . I wash my hair & deep condition my hair in braids . My hair is very healthy & I moisturize my hair 2 - 3 times a week in those same braids. Using my hands instead of tools has been a game changer for me . I pull those same braids in a ponytail all week long so my hair stays stretched and moisturized .
Hey Friend. 💙 My number one trick is using my conditioner or deep conditioner as a leave-in to style my hair. I’d rather not wash it out. One less step during wash day 💁🏾♀️
Are you using a conditioner specifically designed to be a leave-in? Otherwise I saw where that can actually damage the hair and follicles from build-up
Thank you for the reminder to stay consistent on my self-care routine because I've been made to think that I was "doing too much." I seeing after myself: in every area, it doesn't mean that I'm high maintenance or the reverse of it.
I have learned so much from watching this TY channel, it’s hard to pick a #1 wash day tip! 😂 So I’ll pick that comes to mind first: I’ve learned how to wash my hair in sections. I use to feel so overwhelmed when washing my hair and it never felt 100% clean. Now I break it up into sections and use a bottle with a nozzle tip on it for shampoo to get through my thick hair and to my scalp better. It’s been a lot easier and my scalp feels more clean.
Detangle while shampooing. Take out those loose hairs. Detangling after conditioning used to take forever but starting with the shampoo has cut down so much time!
That fantasia product is the GOAT. My mom's been using it in my hair since forever. You've reminded me to go buy an extra bottle to replace the one I just finished.
Patience. I have type 4 140% density (thick) high porosity hair. I have had to accept the challenges of my hair type are indifferent to the product used. Thou shalt still be wet in the morning. Thou willest embrace twists the day after wash day. Thou will embrace length check with heat only on special occasions (MY birthday and New Years) The protective style, with proper maintenance, will last 2-3 months if I act right (lol) Happy New Year Queens and Kings
I dread taking down my plaited/braided hair😫 And I dread having to comb and then plait my hair after washing it It's not the washing that puts me off. It's the 1 day of unplaiting my hair and then the 4 hours of having it plaited once I'm done washing. I need to change my mentality
I wash my hair every 10 days and I don't prepoo or wash in sections or deep condition with heat. Just regular conditioner letting it sit for 5 min and then detangling with it. Never understood why ppl call it wash day. It takes me 30 min to wash, condition and detangle my hair.
My trick is using Aunt Jackie's Knot on my watch detangling therapy with my prepoo ( coconut oil or olive oil), and a wide tooth comb. Works great on my 3c hair.
Great and informative video. Please could you do a video about using the fantasis IC leave in. In addition you mentioned some brushes that was good for the hair. Could you mention the name brands. Thank you
I’ve been using a boar bristle brush and a wide tooth comb to detangle my hair and as long as I’m consistent, it works for me! My hair is a little too fine for most detangling brushes
Thank you. For the info to make my wash day even shorter than usual. Comb my hair out wash & rinse do my conditioners & an oil rinse & I'm done with the water.
Siiiiis, after reading the heading, I never clicked so fast on a video link, lol. I'm here for SHORTER, because I have the 4c hair as we call it. Thanks for all your content sis.

Great video friend😁 thanks for sharing again!! For me? My hack would be my nozzle bottle honestly, my hair is thick so it’s hard to focus the shampoo on my scalp before it touches my strands and I feel like the nozzle just helps me with application😅
I can never remember this as well but I don't worry about it anymore because the way I see it is that when I put that plastic cap on, it's going to get wet anyway from the Heat. So I just apply it and then put the plastic cap on with a terry cloth tie over the plastic and then a winter knit hat over that since I don't have a hooded dryer or anything like that or heat cap. Trust me it'll warm up and get wet or damp.
You apply the coconut oil to dry hair. A good video of hers to watch on pre poo is “Revisiting the PMP method for natural hair! Even better moisturization!”
Thx T. I would like for you to do an assessment of the ingredients in the miche products. I think their stuff is greeeattt. But would love to know what you think
Definitely using a conditioner as a prepoo and then using the shampoo. And then DC😉 Can you use witch hazel alone or does it have to be the fantasia IC??
Can you take baking soda and water wash your hair then with apple cider vinegar and water and then rinse your hair out and then put clove water on your hair and then rinse it out
I'm not a hair expert but I wouldn't recommend. But it depends on your hair, the ratios you use to make all those products, and what outcome are you trying to get?
My wash day trick make ppl look at me like 😨😂 but I use a deep conditioner as my prepoo at times since my hair is prone to dryness, after shampooing I use a conditioner, shower, rinse then head about my day. Less time in the shower, more moisture retention for me. And yes, the conditioner as prepoo is the same just not as strong i guess
Can you please recommend an aloe Vera gel that is good for both hair and scalp? Fruit of the earth aloe Vera gel has recently stopped selling at Walmart and the price has been blown up on Amazon
Hey Curly Chemist, Is it okay to use different products on wash day than you used the last time. Or does this stop the growth of your hair. Can you alternate 2 or 3 different brands?
My landlord is cheap. So my hot water only last 20 minutes. So that’s how long my wash day is. 5 mins shampoo. 10 minutes deep conditioner. 10 minutes detangle, by then the water is cool/cold. Dassit.
Well if you leave a deep conditioner on for an hour or so I don't think you'd want to stay in the shower that long unless you take a chair with you and turn the water off in between time. However, none of this affects me because I shampoo in the sink.
I love wash day! I always pre-poo, but I cannot, under no circumstance, use a detangling comb/brush.. finger detangle only for this gal😰🥲it is what it is, so I take the time necessary.

What's the difference? I add warm oils to my regular conditioners and let it sit as I detangle throughout the whole thing. It still feels good I guess
I tried the dryer and it didn’t work for me either. Always felt dry afterwards
No heat? Not a blow dryer or a Revair or do you mean no flat ironing?

I love detangling my hair under the water with my wide-tooth comb or a detangling brush and conditioner.
Fantastic tips as usual, Pre-pooing a day before has helped to shorten my wash day. Happy New Year and all the best for 2023.
I stooped Detangling in the Shower, I stopped deep conditioning except when necessary, I stopped pre-pooing and it has been so rewarding
Sectioning and keeping it that way from detangling, shampoo, deep condotioner and stylers. Save your scalp, hair, time and stress!
