  • Here are all of the additives for this recipe:
    - White Metallic Powder
    - Black Dye
    - Black and White Spray Paint
    - Copper Spray Paint
    Our Store and products: www.stonecoatcountertops.com/...
For optimal adhesion please follow these instructions. This is a 4 step process when applying the Stone Coat Platinum.
Step 1: Use 1 ounce per square foot of Stone Coat Platinum as a wash coat aka undercoat. (Avoid using our epoxy undercoat with the Stone Coat Platinum, the water off-gassing may cause poor adhesion.) The wash coat will replace the undercoat when using our Platinum system. A wash coat is applied by tinting the Platinum with our dye then using a large popsicle stick or squeegee to spread a thin coat that's tinted to hide the color of the substrate. When coating over existing non-porous materials such as laminate, be sure to create visible scratches in the surface using mechanical sanding to promote adhesion. Bonding primer can also be applied but be sure the water has fully escaped prior to installing the Stone Coat Platinum. The purpose of a wash coat is to promote adhesion by pushing the coating into the substrate as well as adding an undertone color to hide the original color of the substrate.
Step 2: As soon as the wash coat is applied you can add the color coat. The color coat is the decorative process of applying our color additives including Dye, Metallic Powder, and Spray Paint. Mix 3 ounces per square foot of Platinum for this coat.
Step 3: The clear coat is applied the next day. Sand with 120 grit sanding discs using a random orbital sander. Wipe with xylene, then apply the clear coat. We mix 3 ounces per square foot of the Stone Coat Platinum for this coat. As we have continued testing adhesion in all climates and temperatures we advise this method of application. (As soon as the xylene is flashed or dry, pour the clear coat because the xylene is going to make the color coat sticky which will promote optimal adhesion)
Step 4: Apply the Ultimate top coat for extreme scratch resistance, a natural sheen, and ultimate durability. Follow the instructions for the Ultimate Top Coat.
This Stone Coat Platinum system differs from our other products because it's been designed for the professional installer who has a need for a fast turnaround time and the ultimate non yellowing hybrid coating technology. The materials set up and cure fast, requiring experience. Please practice on a small project first and get ready to take your epoxy business to the next level! YOU GOT THIS!

I agree with you about the brick and mortor stores helping to get the product to the customer. I tried using Lowes and they were not very organized at all. There inventory said they had it and I went to the store and then vertified with 2 employees that the inventory was in the store. The department that it should have been in, did not have it. That employee was very rude and I walked out. Bottom line I purchased my product from via internet directly from Stone Coat and saved almost 55% on the purchase I was expecting to spend. The summary of my experience purchasing from a box store just told me that they donot carry the product but lure you into letting them upcharge you and then order from Stone Coat for the customer. My advice would be to leave the middle man out and order directly from Stone Coat.

I love to add gold spray paint when doing Carrara marble. It looks like iron pyrite which I have in my real Carrara. But it floats on the surface and sanding it for a flood coat sands it right off. I can tell you about my experience recently with the Platinum. I was outdoors and just poured my color coat... there was a area of the top that was in the sunlight and those areas blistered up terribly. Now I sanded that first coat with 120g and even opened up some of the bubbles. I then poured my second clear coat and they all filled in fine. My problem however is it literally set off in a few minutes...I had no working time at all. Luckily I just did a bucket pour but still that was ridiculous. Obviously you have to trade off the working time with the non yellowing...and I'm assuming that you have no other choices in giving it more working time with whatever this product actually is. My feelings are its more of a poliaspartic or similar. I was pretty disappointed in how very little working time I had. It basically left the bucket and once it hit the surface it was done. You are getting a lot more time than I did for sure... which leads me to think the humidity plays a huge part in it. So what exactly are we dealing with I wonder in this "hybrid surprise"?

Mike if it’s one thing I’ve realized watching all your videos is you never make mistakes even when you make mistakes. I have a countertop job tomorrow and I wish I would have saw this beforehand it’s all the colors they were looking for! Great job as always👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Elegant is the perfect word. This piece is beautiful. The busy pieces look good but they are so complex to layout. This was the pattern I was looking for (at about 25:04).

Could I make a walk in shower out of this product cost effective
I am a disabled vet and on a tight budget and need a walk-in shower because I won’t be able to get in and out safely.

Favorite trade here. I told you in another video I own Epoxy Express in Boston and I never go to work when installing a floor because I love the trade. So its more like I’m going to install a beautiful seamless floor today or counter top, or shower/tub sealing.. Lol. Stay safe all!!!

As a contractor that does this quite often, i am ordering platinum for sure!i have used at least 8 different kinds of epoxy over the years.scatching is my biggbiggest issue with customer countertops! I really like the idea of the speedy setting ,as i have always been shocked at how much my patterns ive created change as im wait till next day to see set up product. Noticed your pattern stayed the same! Thanks for info video!
