    My neighbor makes conference tables like this that start at $14,000, he does about nine to twelve a year not as psychedelic as these. He's 85 and loves going to work everyday in his barn while his wife does stained glass in a shop next to the barn. Sometimes I have a beer with them over looking their Koi pond.

      @scooter6334 Год назад +8

      I am a 40 year sign shop veteran. You do not want to seal the bottom side of the cabinet wood always has moisture in it and it needs a way to escape. It will go up and hit the Apoxsee and then it’ll turn down and go out the bottom. If you sell the whole thing up it will take the Apoxsee right off the top or end up taking your paint off the bottom.😢 Moisture in the wood will take the least resistance to get out.

    I used to install granite countertops years ago. Something that extravagant back then would’ve probably been $80-90 sq/ft. We also hung our sinks with silicone. We didn’t screw them in place unless they were cast iron farm sinks. We’d silicone the the sinks without tape as well. Smooth em with your smallest finger and then wipe over it with a paper towel soaked with acetone. Perfection.

      I don't even know how I ended up on this channel, but tomorrow I start a new job for a company that only does two things. Waterproofing, and silicone caulking.
      Looks like I'm buying a couple of bottles of acetone on my way in in the morning. Maybe they already use that technique, or maybe you just gave me a shortcut from the lower pay rate as a trainee, to the higher pay rate as "competent".
      I've done tiling before, but always just relied on spit and ya finger for smoothing joints.

    I am very impressed and your countertop looks awesome. After ready many of the comments and understanding the pros and cons, I still think epoxy countertops are a great option when granite, etc. are not in the budget. Although I have 27 years of commercial / industrial construction experience and enjoy taking on challenging DIY projects, I would be hesitant taking on an epoxy counter top of this complexity without an experienced advisor to guide me. Although I’ve completed many DIY projects with little push back from my wife on the design, etc., I think having the professionals at Stone Coat Countertops design and fabricate our countertops would save me from a domestic. LOL 😉
    P.s. I really like the finish product however, I would’ve painted (flat black) the underside of the overhang to give it a finished look. I might of also installed a reglet and LED strip lighting in the overhang to give ambiance lighting to the cabinetry. Thanks again for sharing.

      @@StoneCoatCountertops It would be very nice if some low-key color work were done on the back too -- at least, the overhangs AND the rest of the back could be done in clear epoxy to protect the wood. Also, it would have been great if the hole for the faucet were cut out before itself (perhaps, slightly larger) to allow the colors to flow over the edges of the hole, thus sealing and protecting the wood. A larger hole would make it seem as if the stone top were real.

    I am totally blown away....I am subscribed and I am ready to learn as much as I can from you guys. How long did it take you to be proficient at creating the works of art you create.
    It is so awesome that your offering to teach people how to get to your level... well maybe
    I have had to retire from being a contractor for the last 30 years so I am opening my woodshop to the public. I have built basic woodworker items for family and friends but never sold anything publically. That is going to change and having the ability to create projects that I hope to someday be as beautiful as what you produce is another iron in the fire so to speak. I would say $4500 - $5500 dollars for a piece of stone with the colors infused in this piece. That is a total guess because I have never purchased a slab of any kind. Did you say that the final epoxy finish can stand up to 375 degrees of heat without damaging the finish or was it more or less. My brain is firing on all cylinders, swimming in possible things that I could possibly create. I am almost ready to buy a 4' x 8' cnc router so I could just make basic signs and epoxy in the letters. I am sure they would sell. I am very interested in using the epoxy system for doing inlay work connected to designs built on the cnc router. Create unique front entry doors with inlaid epoxy's..etc...... the builds are endless. Your imagination will be the only thing holding you back because you can create some very unique items. Thanks for taking the time to teach all of us out here in Tube land. I really appreciate the effort it takes to shoot the videos and create a well produced video like you produce and they are very well made with a straight forward format. The video doesn't have a bunch of wasted time like some of the other "free" videos out there. The one thing is the constant 8 chords the guitar guy was playing did get a little annoying but that's a small price to pay for what you are teaching.
    Peace
