Back in about 1992, young me was the owner of only 4 vhs tapes: Gremlins, The perfect weapon, Project A and Jaws 4, so I watched this movie sooo often that I'll always have some love for it.
@@Prof.CliffDavenport. They are:-) I have of course upgraded all of those four movies to dvd and/or blu ray. The perfect weapon is one of those exellent martial arts movies way to few have heard about.
@@trondwillyfry8000 Yes it’s a shame Jeff Speakman didn’t make any other movies up to the calibre of Perfect Weapon. I seem to recall reading an interview with Bill Lustig, who was directing a film with Speakman and they fell out BIG TIME. Lustig absolutely slated the guy in the interview.
@@Prof.CliffDavenport. Ah, cool, I didn't know that. The expert is for sure not a good movie. I have in my collection 6 or 7 Speakman movies, and the perfect weapon is way above the others. I'll also give street knight a pass as at least good'ish
This was the first Jaws film I saw as a kid, I think it must have been in 1988 or 1989 when it made it's way to TV. I was 8 years old in 1988. The following weeks the same TV channels also showed Jaws 2 and 3 and for a few years Jaws 4 was my favorite of those 3. I didn't see the original Jaws until a few years later.
A shark that roars, Micheal Caine being bone dry when he gets out of the ocean, Mario van peebles surviving. Lorraine Gary imaging scenes from jaws that she wasn't there for, an embarrassment of riches bryn, I went to the pics to see this in 87, it got more laughter than a comedy , that said I can actually enjoy Jaws rhe revenge for its awfulness. Great video bryn have a lovely weekend
I agree with the first 4 of your reasons (would exclude the roaring shark though...) and would add two additional reasons: 1) The music score - Michael Small music for this movie is fantastic, his use of the classic John Williams shark theme in a fast paced version is great and the rest of the score just perfect. 2) The poster - I was very excited to see the movie in 1987 just from the poster, seemed so adventurous and scary - aways loved it. It was the only Jaws I managed to see in theaters (when I was 13 yrs old and a big fan of Jaws and had just managed to see 2 and 3 on VHS). Still remember going to see it with my brothers when it was released here in Brazil, end of November 1987 (with the reshot exploding shark ending). It was near christmas time and in the summer just before we travelled to the beach, the ideal time to see it! Another thing I loved at the time was the Brazilian TV spot promoting the movie when it was released - I never found it again (it is different to the US TV spots you find in RUclips) still search it from time to time in RUclips. I remember it was very well edited and made the movie seem much better than it actualy was.
Thanks for sharing! I agree with you on the music score and poster - both were very good. Really interesting to hear your memories of seeing it in Brazil, I’d like to see that trailer.
Though I'm not a fan of the movie myself, I absolutely love the quote Michael Caine made during an interview when someone said to him some time after the film's release, “I saw that Jaws 4. It stinks.” To which Michael Caine replied, “I haven't seen it, but I've seen the house it bought my mother and it's marvellous!”
Ain't seen Jaws The Revenge for quite a few years now, so I don't remember too much about it, but great video, Bryn. Excellent scenic view of Horror Hands Beach too.
Great idea Bryn, its good to hear someone's explanations about why they like things. Even if it differs to other people's taste it can make things much more relatable and offer new perspectives
This movie sounds fun! I'll come back to this vid after I watch it. I've only seen the first movie so far. Sometimes, sequels are a lot of fun, even if they're not as perfect as the first one.
Excellent video Bryn. Loved it mate. I’ve only seen the first Jaws film, and absolutely loved it, so I definitely need to get round to watching the sequels. Glad you enjoy this film mate.👍
Hi Bryn. I love me some Jaws the Revenge!! It’s way more fun than Part 3 for me as it just drifts off into a sweet spot of Bonkers that I really enjoy. Ellen Brody screaming at a Shark, “Come and Get Me you Son of a Bitch” 🤘🤘
I'm sure when I finally get to watch the rest of the Jaws film I'll love it as much as you do. Films people find trashy, I tend to enjoy. Nice one Bryn. Trev
I’ve never seen this all the way through!! I’ve only ever seen bits of it on the telly but just not got round to watching it in full yet, though I’m in no way opposed to giving it a proper go. I initially got put off by all the bad reviews and then what I have seen of it has never really prompted me to explore further. I will watch it at some point though. Really enjoy the Jaws franchise, my thoughts are thus: Jaws - Probably the greatest/scariest horror movie of all time and when I first saw that as a kid I think it scarred me for life! 😄 I remember going to Scarborough on holiday in about 1980/81, something like that, and outright refusing to go paddling in the sea because of that movie! Jaws 2 - Very decent. Jaws 3 - A lot of fun. I last watched this in proper 3D round at my mates house on his massive 3D TV a few years ago and we had a right laugh.
Thanks, Cliff! Definitely try and see it all the way through, if only to witness all of its craziness! Agree with your assessment of Jaws 1 and 2 but never liked Jaws 3. I would love to see it in 3D however in the manner you described!
@@horrorhands879 The 3D jaws flying out of the screen at the end were so much fun! I remember when Jaws 3D came out and they made a big thing out of the 3D at the time. This movie is just as bad as everyone says and maybe even worse. That's why it is such a fantastic guilty pleasure (treasure?). I'd add a sixth important reason--- fabulous make-up artistry. The make up dept. really did an outstanding job making Lorraine Gary look like the dude on the American dollar bill. And Michael Caine really does deserve a Hand for his awesome contributions to schlocky horror. Great video, HorrorHands!

The first 15 minutes of Jaws the Revenge works well, then it becomes more of a Family Drama than a Shark movie. How they ever greenlit that silly cheap underwater Shark is beyond me. Maybe if we got more Shark Kills, and a Director that knew what he was doing, who had passion for the project, we might have got a better film. Sadly, there's just not enough Shark Kills in it to call it a Jaws movie, it should have been called 'The Brody's Go To The Bahamas'. Jaws 4 has many flaws, but do I consider it to be one if the Worst movies ever made, No! There is way worse Killer Shark movies out there. Great video! 🦈
