      I saw a part of the wreckage in Las Vegas. Weird how in part of that plane wreckage was part of his name.
      The part just says ,
      “Otis”.

    After Otis did this song, everyone tried to imitate it. You couldn't go to any concert without them doing this song. No one came close to this.

      Rumor had it that he was nervous about playing Monterey since he thought most of the audience was coming for the rock groups. He had them all in the palm of his hand within seconds though!

    Love Otis Redding nicknamed the "King of Soul". Sadly he died in 1967 in a plane crash at only the age of 26. But he left us some beautiful music. Some of my favorites are "I've Been Loving You too Long", "(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay", "Respect", "These Arms Of Mine" etc.

    This song dates back to 1933... a real oldie but goodie. It's been done by practically every singer who could get in front of a microphone. Redding changed the entire nature of the song with this R&B version.

    "(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay" was released right after Otis died and became the song he is perhaps best known for, but "Try A Little Tenderness", "I've Been Loving You Too Long" and "These Arms Of Mine" are ballads that showcase the soul that Otis had in buckets.

    Such a great song, and if you haven't watched Pretty in Pink on your movie channel yet, there's a scene in that where the main character is this girl who works in a record store and has a nerdy admirer who comes in and does a song-and-dance to this song to woo her. Once you see it, you can't unsee it when you here this song, such an amazing song and Otis was truly one of a kind. Cheers.

      Ray Noble Orchestra first performed it in 1932, but it was written by the songwriting team Jimmy Campbell and Reg Connelly together with Henry Woods. Otis Redding jazzed it up from the original version.

    Try A Little Tenderness was one of the last songs that Otis Redding performed, in his last his last live performance. It was in Cleveland, Ohio, on December 9, 1967. On that occasion, Redding appeared on “Upbeat,” a syndicated musical variety show that regionally rivaled American Bandstand and aired on WEWS.

    This song was written in the 20's, and Otis made it his very own. Check out his live version at Monterey Pops; performed just a couple months before he died in that plane crash. It's the first time I ever heard him, and I'll never forget it.

    I miss Otis. I still listen to those Stax recordings weekly. Before I went to Viet Nam I saw him at Monterey Pop festival in 1967 .Blew everyone away.

    When you listen to Otis Redding sing it brings a smile to your face and then sadness to your heart thinking of all the wonderful songs he didn't get to sing because he died so young. He put so much feeling into every song, to me he was the epitome of soul!

    Love Otis Redding! Of course he is well know for “Sittin On The Dock Of The Bay”, but man does he have so much more. The Black Crowes hit, “Hard To Handle”... that’s an Otis song.
    He does a fantastic duet with Carla Thomas called “Tramp”. Great tune! Give a listen👍

    Wonderful song, incredible vocals, and still 100% true. Life is hard for many of us, we all have suffering and grief and a little tenderness in our lives makes it so much easier to bear.
    Tiny criticism is that BJ needs to up his pausing game. DO NOT pause Otis Redding just as he's about to go off. There's no pausing Otis.

    Legend. Just a little trivia...when Duane Allman (of The Allman Brothers) was doing session work in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, he worked with Otis, and some others. There was something in the air at that place back in the day. The "Swampers" of Muscle Shoals also get a nod in _Sweet Home Alabama_ from Lynyrd Skynyrd.

    Otis Redding was and is the real king of soul music. What a talent had to go so early and didn't even see his international success and breakthrough - it's really tearful.     Absolutely one of the best songs of that era, and still today. You have to appreciate all the different beats and tempos in this one single song. I always think of the movie DUETS when I hear it. Good movie too. ❤️

    Written in 1932 by a trio of guys I never heard of; Great Depression guys who probably wore their pleated pants high up on their waists, lol. Crosby and Sinatra both tried it. Only mention it to illustrate that those versions are forgotten; Otis Redding's version is the best!
