A candidate for the greatest singer of his generation. Died way too young. I love everything Otis ever did.
I saw a part of the wreckage in Las Vegas. Weird how in part of that plane wreckage was part of his name.
The part just says ,
“Otis”.
All facts! Such a huge talent lost.
I second all that. One of the greats
Play respect, satisfaction, and fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa by Otis
Got my vote!
Otis Redding..Marvin Gaye...Al Green...Sam Cooke... the Mount Rushmore of soul singers....🙏
Few others would have a shot at the list.
James brown, Smokey, aretha, ray charles and maybe stevie wonder or luther.
Completely agree
Gonna throw in Joe Tex and Solomon Burke and let's not forget Wilson Wicked Pickett
James Brown.
and wilson pickett
The legendary master at work...Rest in peace Otis.
Otis didn't invent soul singing... but he perfected it. I think this is his greatest recording. Gets better with every repeated listening.
Asia & BJ, You'll love his "These Arms Of Mine" !!! Arguably, the best male soul singer of all-time!!!
Absolutely!
Great song!
This song was used in a funny scene in the movie Pretty In Pink. If you can find the clip, it’s worth watching. Gotta check out Solomon Burke. Cry To Me.
I always think of Duckie doing his dance in that scene when I hear this!
All I think of is Duckie 😆❤️
After Otis did this song, everyone tried to imitate it. You couldn't go to any concert without them doing this song. No one came close to this.
Love Otis Redding and this song! You HAVE to watch him do this live at Monterey Pop Festival in 1967! This man's soul is off the charts. It's so true - being a bit more tender to one another can make all the difference in the world. Thanks so much guys for reacting to this one!!🧡🦋
Yes. Otis doing this live is 10x better.
The hippies went wild.
Rumor had it that he was nervous about playing Monterey since he thought most of the audience was coming for the rock groups. He had them all in the palm of his hand within seconds though!
🥰 Hello 👋 Friday night 🕺🕺 to the Legend's ☺️ hope your doing well 🌹🍹🍹 enjoy life's adventures ... Your right about Monterey Pop!!!!!! Great live performance 👍
🤞 Try Smokey Joe's Cafe by the coasters it's early 55 or 56 👋👋🤠✌️
@@johnboydTx Hi johnboydTx! 👋I will check out your suggestion thanks😊Hope you are doing well and enjoying the music!😻🕺💃
Otis and this song are masterpieces. PERFECTION. ❤❤❤❤
You gotta try Otis live. He takes it to another level.
Monterey pop festival late 60s live with Otis and Janice Joplin. Great.
Definitely do more of his music, what an amazing gift he had
Otis is all good! ❤️ so many good songs! Try “I’ve been Loving You Too Long”
My absolute favorite of his. He is singing from from the bottom of his soul on that one.
Love Otis Redding nicknamed the "King of Soul". Sadly he died in 1967 in a plane crash at only the age of 26. But he left us some beautiful music. Some of my favorites are "I've Been Loving You too Long", "(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay", "Respect", "These Arms Of Mine" etc.
Otis Redding is"The King Of Soul"!!!!!!!!!!
This song dates back to 1933... a real oldie but goodie. It's been done by practically every singer who could get in front of a microphone. Redding changed the entire nature of the song with this R&B version.
Love this song. The only other singer/band to do it fair justice was Chuck Negron with Three Dog Night...very good cover, would love to hear it here as well.
Andrew Strong with the Commitments did a fantastic job.
@@richhahn2443 always despised that movie and the version😂. He did it well but it was the only version i heard for years. Its nowhere near as good as the original.
Actually it's Cory Wells on that one, RIP.
Cool reaction. Otis Redding was only 26 years old when he died in a plane crash along with his band members. One of my favourite songs. 😎
"(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay" was released right after Otis died and became the song he is perhaps best known for, but "Try A Little Tenderness", "I've Been Loving You Too Long" and "These Arms Of Mine" are ballads that showcase the soul that Otis had in buckets.
Now THAT'S my kind of church!
👍❤🤙
The Bee Gees wrote the song “To Love Somebody “ for Otis. They were on their way to take it to him when he was killed.
One of the most touching songs ever
Marvin and Otis.. Legends of truth!
There’s no one like Otis!❤️🤘🏻
Such a great song, and if you haven't watched Pretty in Pink on your movie channel yet, there's a scene in that where the main character is this girl who works in a record store and has a nerdy admirer who comes in and does a song-and-dance to this song to woo her. Once you see it, you can't unsee it when you here this song, such an amazing song and Otis was truly one of a kind. Cheers.
Soul doesn't get any better than this. There is a video of him performing this at the 1967 Monterey Pop festival. Fire!
He was definitely on fire at Monterey Pop Festival.
Y'all know y'all ain't ready for this!!! Otis is my fellow Georgia boy. He from from Macon I'm from Columbus 100 mi away. I cried when his plane went down I was still a young lad. Probably one of the greatest soul singers the world has ever known. Just remember BJ when Asia gets tired of your game...... Try a Little tenderness!!!!! 💕
You want to hear what he was like live? Listen to his live version of this at Monterey Pop
his Monterey Pop performance was EPIC Try A Little Tenderness & I've Been Lovin' You Too Long....are amazing....(Booker T & The MGs as his back up band....puh-leeease)
This is the pure definition of SOUL.
Otis is the best
This was an absolute classic when it was released in the mid sixties by Otis. It is actually an older song from the 1930's.
I didn’t know that. Who did it originally?
@@Noelle0026 Ray Noble a British band leader.
Ray Noble Orchestra first performed it in 1932, but it was written by the songwriting team Jimmy Campbell and Reg Connelly together with Henry Woods. Otis Redding jazzed it up from the original version.
Try A Little Tenderness was one of the last songs that Otis Redding performed, in his last his last live performance. It was in Cleveland, Ohio, on December 9, 1967. On that occasion, Redding appeared on “Upbeat,” a syndicated musical variety show that regionally rivaled American Bandstand and aired on WEWS.
Otis is the man you don’t make music like this no more freaking legend wow
Otis was an absolute icon! And rightfully so, for obvious reasons.
Another absolute icon! My favorite tune by Otis.
You guys are crushing this content lately . Anything Otis , Jackie Wilson , Temptations is pure fire.
Otis and the Memphis(Stax)sound owned the music scene in the late 60's-early 70's!
One of the greatest voices we've ever had....left to soon...They all do.
This song was written in the 20's, and Otis made it his very own. Check out his live version at Monterey Pops; performed just a couple months before he died in that plane crash. It's the first time I ever heard him, and I'll never forget it.
Oh my gosh. This reminds me of my dad! He died in 2013 but loved Otis Redding and Percy Sledge.
I miss Otis. I still listen to those Stax recordings weekly. Before I went to Viet Nam I saw him at Monterey Pop festival in 1967 .Blew everyone away.
That had to be so amazing to see. From the video of he was definitely on fire.
🇺🇲hooah!! 🤜👊🤛
OMG. One of the most beautiful songs ever. Beautiful build up. So true.
Women need to be heard and seen. Makes a world of difference.
Yes, BJ, back at the time this song made women melt. And it still does.
He's Incredible..one of my favorites
Lmao!!! The way Asia would go into the deep Otis Redding voice and made BJ laugh, you two are my absolute favorites to watch!!!!
Asia and BJ great job you two. I love your interaction with each other. I'm a 71 year old white man, and I have seen and heard plenty in my time. I wish I could take you back to see how great it really was. Well enough of this. I would like to recommend one of the two greatest love songs of ALL time. RICK JAMES and TEENA MARIE ( FIRE AND DESIRE ). Please, you won't be disappointed. Enjoy
One of the greatest Soul Singers ever IMO !!!! Gone way too soon.
One of my top 5 voices of all time in any genre.
Otis had it for REAL...man, what a great vocal. He left us all way too soon. Thanks for sharing this treasure.....DAMN good.
The "original" soul man. Otis was a one of kind. Amazing performer with a phenomenal voice
Otis was incredible. He was so likeable, too. I recommend reading his biography. A beautiful man.
When you listen to Otis Redding sing it brings a smile to your face and then sadness to your heart thinking of all the wonderful songs he didn't get to sing because he died so young. He put so much feeling into every song, to me he was the epitome of soul!
I've always loved how he starts out all mellow and slow, and by the end he's belting the lyrics out.
I just get the chills when I listen to Otis!! He is THE MAN!!
Keep in mind, Otis wrote a lot of songs, probably the most well known of which would be R E S P E C T!
Otis owned the stage, He was one of the most dynamic performers ever!
This live has a much more emotional power to it. Listen to a live version of this sometime.
Such a great singer and a great song. Andrew Strong did a very good version of this in the movie "The Commitments"
No song has a greater build than this.
How can anybody on planet earth not know Otis Redding and love him and his music! Icon!
Always loved the version of this in the indie film “The Commitments”. Great movie for y’all BTW! You will love it!
This song is from the Great Depression and first recorded in 1932
One of the best songs ever, regardless of genre. So much soul.
One of my favorite tunes…Rod Stewart covers this song and is worth a listen.❤
One of the best songs by one of the best singers. Who could not love that song?
Love Otis Redding! Of course he is well know for “Sittin On The Dock Of The Bay”, but man does he have so much more. The Black Crowes hit, “Hard To Handle”... that’s an Otis song.
He does a fantastic duet with Carla Thomas called “Tramp”. Great tune! Give a listen👍
Good choice. We all knew "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay," My favorite is "Security." Otis had that one in a million voice.
He's my favorite soul singer.!
Wonderful song, incredible vocals, and still 100% true. Life is hard for many of us, we all have suffering and grief and a little tenderness in our lives makes it so much easier to bear.
Tiny criticism is that BJ needs to up his pausing game. DO NOT pause Otis Redding just as he's about to go off. There's no pausing Otis.
Legend. Just a little trivia...when Duane Allman (of The Allman Brothers) was doing session work in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, he worked with Otis, and some others. There was something in the air at that place back in the day. The "Swampers" of Muscle Shoals also get a nod in _Sweet Home Alabama_ from Lynyrd Skynyrd.
This song sounded much better when he performed it at the Monterey Pop Festival which you should watch as well.
React to Otis performance from the Monterey Pop Festival called "I've Been Loving You Too Long".
My freshman year in college and as valuable a life lesson as I heard the whole year.
Otis was the best and accomplished more by 27 than most of us can dream of in twice that much time. RIP
Wonderful reaction to my favorite Otis Redding song.
Asia has an uncanny ability to mimic a singer’s voice, love it😊…
Yep. This is the reason he's considered the King of soul music!
"Legendary voice, legendary song, legendary feeling." Right on, BJ!
He was So great!! I loved him !!! Legend 💜💜💜
I do not view all of your reactions but I did want to see you react to Otis Redding because I’m familiar with this song.
I have heard you comment more than once about an artist taking you “to church.”
With that in mind, check out Al Green - not just his music but read a little about his life.
Love Otis Redding, ❤️ thNk u guys , hope your having awesome day, this song reminded me of my pop , he died recently ✌️🕶
Such a great song. I highly suggest you hear Three Dog Night's cover of this. Cory Wells was pure blue-eyed soul and could sing his azz off.
"Try a Little Tenderness"

Songwriter(s) Jimmy Campbell, Reg Connelly, Henry Woods
"Try a Little Tenderness" is a song written by Jimmy Campbell, Reg Connelly, and Harry M. Woods.
Remember this song of a Bounty commercial on tv in the 80's.. still a great song, thx for reacting 🎤🎶💜
My mother told me to do this with my wife and now we about to celebrate our 49th❤❤❤
This may be may be my favorite Otis Redding tune and that says a lot because he has some great songs! I love how it starts slow but by the end is a fever pitch! I can’t believe he was only 26 years old when he was killed in that plane crash because he left a lot of great music! He is definitely a legend!❤❤
Love it!
Love y’all!
Love Asia’s vocals, even when she’s imitating Otis Redding.
Keep on, keepin’ on
Much love from Austin, Tejas
R.I.P. OTIS REDDING AND THE REST OF BAND .
WHO DIED IN THE PLANE CRASH
WHAT A VOICE .
Otis Redding was and is the real king of soul music. What a talent had to go so early and didn't even see his international success and breakthrough - it's really tearful. My older brother and his friends heard the records and infected me when I was a kid. Thanks for sharing and best regards @all from hamburg (germany)
Good old soul music there's nothing better
"These Arms of Mine" is probably my favorite Otis Redding song.
Love Otis Redding. Definitely check out his #1 song Sittin On The Dock Of The Bay
Otis Redding one of the all time greats! so sad he was gone way to soon, I cried even though it was before my time
One of my favorite Otis songs. Been waiting for yall to do a reaction to this song!! Otis at his finest!!
We were SO blessed! I'm so glad I grew up when i did!
Absolutely one of the best songs of that era, and still today. You have to appreciate all the different beats and tempos in this one single song. I always think of the movie DUETS when I hear it. Good movie too. ❤️
Written in 1932 by a trio of guys I never heard of; Great Depression guys who probably wore their pleated pants high up on their waists, lol. Crosby and Sinatra both tried it. Only mention it to illustrate that those versions are forgotten; Otis Redding's version is the best!
Sampled by Jay-Z and Kanye West on their song “Otis.”
I was a teenager when this came out. I tried my best to take his advice!
This is one of my all time favorites. Thank you ❤️
The great Otis Redding. Amazing.
Gone way too soon, RIP KING 💕
He had so much soul I can still feel it
