Otis is easily my favorite singer of all time. He was so talented. Fun fact: he recorded Sittin on the Dock of the Bay in Memphis at Stax just before he died. They have part of that studio preserved in their museum in Memphis and it is a spiritual experience to visit. Highly recommend it!

Same. Followed closely by Sam Cooke. The beautiful music they would've made....

This young man died at the age of 26 but yet left such an indelible mark on music. Imagine if he would have lived a long life.

This is as good today as it was back then. While Dock of the Bay may be what you first think of with Otis, I loved everything the man sang. What a voice.

He died, in a plane crash, just 3 days after recording "Dock...", and it was released posthumously, and, strangely, was his only no. 1 hit !!!

Their chartered plane crashed into Lake Monona killing him and 4 band members. 😢 We lost a legend too soon.

This song was first performed in 1932 and a lot of artists covered it. But Ottis Redding's version is the most popular to date. Check out the Three Dog Night's life version as well.

If you have Max, watch the new Stax Records docuseries. He was a genius. The BarKays were still in their teens when they went on tour as his backing band.

ABtheKreator, the live version at the "MONTEREY POPS FESTIVAL"and "WOODSTOCK " but I do treasure this version. To me ,the mic has nothing to do with the performance, its the singers/singer that got the job done.

No one can compare to Otis. Al green is in the same division. But they’re both absolutely amazing I their own way. They both have a special place in my heart and brain chemistry.
