Yeah she MADE IT LOOK EASY... because she cut out the part where she was cussing because she couldn't get it lined up or it wasn't sticking here or there.. it's not as easy as she made it appear.. painting would have been cheaper, faster, easier and more tenant friendly...
If you don't like it, it's not for you. Do your own tutorials and see what happens. Nobody is perfect and at least she is trying. She is not giving advice she is showing what she loves and enjoys doing. She is creative and doing it her way. If you don't like that she paints it, keep strolling. When you d I your own tutorial, don't paint yours.

@@dontatmeev3r depends on the brand depends on where you live and the humidity level in your home. Just because it worked out for you doesn’t mean it’s a good hack and it works for everyone. I’m glad it didn’t mess with yours but I’ve heard more horror stories and seen them then good reviews.
Use wallpaper that isn’t pre-pasted (doesn’t have glue), and use a mixture of corn starch and water to glue it to the wall. It’s completely removable and very strong. Sometimes peel and stick can still remove your paint, so I’d test a small square and try taking it down after a few weeks before doing an entire wall.
I would use the removable tabs that come with hooks and set them sideways. When ready to leave apartment, pulling trim off then tabs will keep drywall on ceiling from getting torn.
Please don't use those, i literally had a landlord specifically ask me not to use them because the tenant before me use dthen and the apartment walla had missing patches.
Thing is, you would never actually know unless you waited the amount of time you’re gonna keep it on there. You can’t actually spot test with certainty Edit: spot test this sort of thing
As a property manager - DO NOT DO THIS. if anything goes wrong with that wall you can kiss your deposit goodbye. Please please please check your local leasing laws and check thoroughly how your deposit is protected by law but one thing I can say is - do not give them any excuse what so ever. A deposit tribunal will look at that wall with that paper and then after shots when the tenant has moved out! You can kiss your deposit goodbye.
It would be better and cheaper to just paint the damn wall and repaint if you’re using matte black wallpaper. If you were doing a patterned wallpaper, affix sheets of MDF with easily removable screws on the wall to protect the drywall surface first, then add whatever you want for wallpaper. Then unscrew the boards when you leave and patch the holes. Never use sticky stuff.
Bad idea don't do this. I used to do residential management. CONTACT PAPER is PERMANENT not temporary. I recommend back splash cling film. It isn't permanent and is easily removable from surface.
Yall need to relax. This stuff doesn't peel paint like it used to, unless you get the heavy duty adhesive backing. Typically those rolls are 2-4x times the normal price of these easy to peel off ones. I allow my tenants to use these kinds of things so I don't have to deal with removing layers of paint
i am so confused by american renter situations. in germany, we can do everything and anything to rental property. i could paint my walls black. only if i want something bigger done like new tiles or electric work in the walls, i need approval. if the next renter likes what i did to the flat, i don’t have to change things back. if they need to renovate/modernize the flat after i move out (because i lived there for 20 years and work is due), i don’t need to change anything. if no one likes what i did to the flat, i need to paint over it in a light neutral color like white or beige. no big deal 🤷🏼♀️

Well because as a renter you do not own the property and therefore have no right to do things to it without permission from the property owner. How is this hard to understand?

One of my former roommates decided to paint half her room purple. Looked sick. People should be allowed to make their homes feel like their homes. I had it in my kitchen and bathroom for years. Works great and didn’t take any paint off when I removed it. My guest could write on my walls and my nieces and nephews loved it when they came over. It’s contact paper not wall paper so it peels off easy. The only issue I had was it doesn’t adhere as good as traditional wallpaper. I put clear thumbs takes on edges and seams to keep it from falling down.
This paper comes off smoothly guys. Relax. I’ve used it plenty of times. It won’t damage surfaces, especially if you take it off correctly. Idk about the border trim tho.
My parents did this in the late 80’s early 90’s. Just a black peel and stick wall from contact paper and they put really brilliant art with gold frames all over the black wall along our dining room and it was so stunning and impactful.
It's called crown molding. Never knew this type crowd molding existed. From a distance you would never know. And its LIGHT no pricey handyman prices. it was a whole vibe of these things.
I just paint right on my walls. I've painted flowers and mountains and I did one of my daughter's wall like dalmatian spots. They just want it to be painted white before we move out which I don't mind doing cause I like to paint obviously lol but the paper takes a lot less time and easier to clean up

My builder told me those "lightweight" Styrofoam coving is the most flammable thing you should never use in any home Reno, plus it voids home insurance.

For your American audience also, there is a lot of orange peel, or knock down texture on walls here. It makes it quite a pain to apply peel and stick too walls with texture.
I have literally had a landlord tell me "of you wanna stick something on, don't. Just ask us and within reason I'll let you use nails, since a hole is much easier to fill than the patch of wall ripped off my the thing you stuck on."
What would you suggest as a room divider in a studio apartment to separate the bed from the living room. I want something sturdy to hang pictures from on both sides. Big pictures not family photos.
There are all kinds of stick wallpaper that leave no glue residue on the wall ( too expensive)... Most of them do, and after removal, you need to remove the glue, sand to remove the paint job and redo the wall... Too much money either way. Just paint the walll (owner's permission necessary) and return it to it's original state before you leave.. Costs less and at least you won't lose your guaranty...
Every time I remove that peel and stick from my cabinets and drawers, it leaves some glue behind. It’s shinny, in patches , not consistent and it takes off some varnish from those surfaces. Putting it in a wall, I see paint coming off and the wall being sticky and or shinny. The wall will need to be repainted.
I stick to command stripping a contractors thick paper/thin cardboard around the edges. Doesn’t peel off paint like these do after a year of being on there.
Depending on what kind of paint not necessarily will the paint come off. Man so many comments and replies yet most of which are not familiar with newer products and processes available to prevent damage yet allow for a change in decor
DO NOT DO THIS! This is quite possibly some of the worst advice you could give to somebody renting. I guarantee you your landlord will be pissed because now, instead of simply repainting...they'll have to remove all of that and repair the drywall.

Contact paper adhesive sticks harder to the paint the older it gets. Peels paint off when you try to remove it. And for sure if the renter or landlord [before you moved in] didn't bother to prep the wall properly before repainting so they could turn the rental around sooner. Short cuts you don't find out until the paint starts chipping when you go to pull off the command strips. Painting is easier, costs the same and if you lightly sand and clean the wall before applying new paint, will last. Plus you have to contend with the texture on the wall when smoothing out the paper. For an accent wall the cost of 7 rolls of contact paper is the same as a gallon of paint.
100% cotton material and soak in liquid starch. Wring out slightly. Spread on wall. Trim. Nice stick when dry last forever. Pull off with absolutely nothing left on wall and absolutely no damage

The sticker wall paper is great but that ‘super strong adhesive’ can peel paint and require mudding and painting to fix. Not the end of the world but I’ve spent a lot of this last month fixing a lot of marks left by ‘harmless’ stickers, and it’s been a real pain in the ass.
I think what she means by "renter friendly" is that she technically is not putting "holes" in the walls or "painting the walls".. Doesn't mean it'd be ok with the Landlord tho.. Haha

Another option is using very thin foam board held on walls with command strips and seams between foam boards filled in with caulk or dry wall putty then put peel and stick over that. Saves u from the sticky residue upon removal from using cheap or off brand peel and stick wallpaper.
Not when they see the corners! You are supposed to mitre the corners as coving is for the whole ceiling. If she’s just lobbed two straight strips up it’s going to look like a joke!

Yup. That peel and stick will leave a residue all over the walls and just give you a major headache later on.
Plus paint will go over the inevitable texture on most apartment walls that does NOT look good through peel & stick vinyl.

I hate to say, but double sided tape leaves a wicked glue film that requires solvent and a lot of elbow grease to remove. But that coving looks great.
Spot test anything you stick to your walls to make sure it will come off!! Just because the Amazon listing says removable doesn't mean it will be!

Remove outlet/ switch covers before putting up the vinyl. The finish will be so much nicer and it only takes a few minutes

When it comes to a lets you would do better making an X and then pushing the outlet out for a snug fit but the styrofoam blew my mind. Nice

Great job. I used the peel & stick on some furniture. I was surprised it isn't like the old contact paper. It's easy to remove. Didn't catch the product name for the molding. Can you plz send?,
Hang high quality fabric/curtains against your wall to add color to a room. Easy install and removal.
Looks really nice. But when you peel that peel and stick wall paper off it will ruin the dry wall.

... i wonder how many people think 'peel and stick' is the same as removable/temporary wallpaper. Its not. Its just pre-pasted and your going to need adhesive remover after you remove it💀

Another option is using very thin foam board held on walls with command strips and seams between foam boards filled in with caulk or dry wall putty then put peel and stick over that.
Saves u from the sticky residue upon removal from using cheap or off brand peel and stick wallpaper.

Another tip: wash your walls with 50/50 mixture of alcohol and water to make sure the wallpaper would stick.

Not when they see the corners! You are supposed to mitre the corners as coving is for the whole ceiling. If she’s just lobbed two straight strips up it’s going to look like a joke!
