      Nice vid. I did something similar and where the verticals meet the baseboard we just cut a taper with the chopsaw so it flushes with the top of the baseboard. Not necessary at all but it looks pretty cool.

  • @antalbano
    @antalbano 26 дней назад +6

    I see people screaming to change the baseboard. No need, simply take a piece of cove trim, flip it upside down to create a flat edge for the verticals boards to rest on. It will avoid the verticals looking like they’re hanging off. Great job!

    Baseboard looks super weird. Other issue doing it that way is usually you are going to get a different look from the paint on the painted wall. Also in a lot of different areas of homes you could have all sorts of texture differences original to the house. Or if someone updated it you could have a Sun Valley or more modern texture. Even if you are in an older house it could be plaster and have dips and what not that are going to be noticeable. Not to mention again the sheen of the paint showing different on the two different materials.

    PEOPLE STOP DOING THIS! the point of doing something yourself is to save on labor cost. You're not saving yourself more money by doing the work incorrectly. If you know what should be getting done then invest the time to do it correctly so it has a higher value in the end. Remove the baseboard, put a 1x along the bottom. You're working inside corner to inside corner. Easiest possible scenario for an accent wall. All this saved anyone was the price of one more board.

    Typical hack job . Do you notice he did not mate the vertical boards to the colonial molding claiming it was faster and easier. What is the rush ? This install will be there for many years into the future so take your time and be proud of your finish product. But guess these days every one is looking to see how quick a job can be finished with as little effort as possible. With some basic tools like a saw and wood file I got a perfect joint between vertical boards and floor trim . Yes, it takes a little more time but he should have gone the extra mile to show all that watch this video the proper way then give the option for a hack job instead of the other way around.
