I have to agree with you whole heartedly, I've owned approximately 35 bikes in my time and have rode all through winter on my 2017 africa twin DCT not because I have to but because I love to. Used every day to commute as well. I've not swung a leg over my panigale since taking ownership of the honda. Horse power doesn't come into the equation its just a mega fun bike on and off road. Cheer Shakey
Absolutely. I only started in DEC21 and have loved touring my 125 and 748. I love the bikes but a recent podcast asked are you a motorcyclist or a traveller. I’m guessing I’m the later but the interest has many different angles. I went out today and had a lovely ride. I had a rough idea where I wanted to go but happily got lost and explored a little. I had planned to be out for an hour or two…was out even longer and was almost late for work. Anyhow, nice video and shows a little of the feel,of moving through a land experiencing the change in climate that is lost on motorists.
I've always said on a bike you become a part of the scenery rather than a spectator. I still love cars but bikes are on another a whole other level when it comes to involvement.
Shakey has been a brilliant addition to the channel, really enjoy his honest and balanced opinion. Would love to see a larger group of bike tests, I don’t know how much media training Shakey has had but he comes across completely natural and likeable with a professional delivery style. A very sensible and informative review, it’s important to bikers that someone of his experience lets you know what the handling and feel of a bike is in cold and wet conditions. I know he wasn’t supposed to mention the scenery but as a proud Welshman it was good to hear him wax lyrical about the scenery 30:25 even when the weather is cold and miserable.
Shakey is a Pundit for both World Superbike & British SuperBike along with Jamie Whitham and Matt Roberts on eurosport, so has about 4+ years of TV Journalism Experience. 👍
Samieb155 oh he has much more than just 4 years as a journalist, Shakey has been working with motorcycle magazines since the early to mid 90's most famously when he worked with fastbikes, there are plenty of fastbike videos on RUclips from that time. Eg how to pull wheelies and impress people, this was before his bike racing really took off and he won the privateer championship in bsb on a silver gsxr750.
Thank you. Well, if we can keep growing the audience and the sponsorship partners (EBC have been excellent to get us this far) then we'd love to bring long form (varied) bike content to TLBS.
Totally agree with your choice, I have the CRF 1000, I came from a Honda Blackbird, I see more of the world when I'm riding the AT, as I ride slower and have time to look around more.. 100 bhp is plenty on the road these days.. I've ridden mine to the Black sea and back, it was the perfect bike for me to do the trip.. Oh .. In my humble opinion, it's the best looking of the adventure bikes.. great vid ..
I got rid of a blackbird partly for the reasons you list. Curling up like a possessed woodlouse and hammering the piss out of it wasn't that big or clever. I've gone to COMPLETELY the other end of the scale and got some honda Cubs now and have 10x more fun. I think the reason for that is how limited they are. They are just enough machine to propel you forwards so anything you manage to get done on them feels like a proper achievement.
Have done 12k miles on my AT. Agree with Shakey. Don’t need 140 hp and loads of electronic gizmos to feel the freedom of riding. The AT will take you anywhere in comfort and confidence. The BMW is the obvious choice. The AT is the thinking person’s choice. Or to put it another way, how many nice hotel rooms on tours will the money you save with the AT buy you! It’s the best, the cheapest, the least likely to let you down. And you won’t be another GS puppet mindlessly copying everyone else. Fab bike. Fab video. Thanks Shakey!
Really enjoyed this review 👏 And totally agree with the result. This Honda is one of the most universal bikes for touring purposes. Engine performance is just enough, you can easily go on or off road, suspension so smooth, the sound of standard exhaust 👌 It’s not about driving 150+ km/h, even if it is still possible. I have my second Africa Twin in last 6 years. First was 2018 basic AT model. Last year replaced it by newer 1100ccm ATAS and this could definitely be the only bike for the rest of my life ❤
Beautifully filmed and edited. Shakey's review is a welcome real world change from the usual, without loosing too much fun, blurring tactically applied to parts of the screen, as the grin factor grew.
Just love the sound of that Africa Twin. And love how the DCT uses the low down torque on that engine to just chug about effortlessly with out needing to wind the bike up. It maybe less powerfull but also lower compression ratio and has peak torque lower down the RPM
I agree wholeheartedly with the early swiss army knife analogy. I've had sports bikes, naked street bikes and sports tourers, and i really can't see myself on anything other than my adventure bike from this point forward. You can be a hooligan on them, go on and off road, for a quick day long jaunt, or a full 8 hours of motorway riding. They ride empty, or laden up with luggage and pillion. They really do absolutely everything, extremely well.
My preference was also the crf 1100 AT. I used R 1250 gs adv more tham 10 thousand km. I also owned an AT at the same time. I bought the BMW due to environmental pressure. Although my wife liked the comfort of the gs, the spirit of the AT appealed to me more. I sold my gs adv. Now I continue my life with the AT.
I think this video sums up nicely why Shakey was (is) such a popular biking champion. Who else would retain real world relevant points in such a great understated style while having more riding ability if blindfolded compared to most of us. Great viewing.
Shakeys a natural road tester 🙌 I remember the old days and the Fast Bikes videos down to the South of France on Busas etc 😝 they were fu$%in crazy times lol
Another great video, Shane is a natural at this. I had a GS1150 in 2001, the wind noise was terrible. Sold it and not bothered with an ADV bike since. Time to get a test ride on the AT.
Owned a BMW R1200 GSA TE Black Edition for 4 years, brilliant bike. Just bought a new Triumph Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer and it is as good if not better (and it is definitely more comfortable).
What a great video, really enjoyed that, thanks. I'm a big fan of the AT too, as you say not the fastest, most powerful or lightest, but there's just something about it. I noticed the editor didn't spot the secondary display on the Africa Twin when the speedo was being blurred 😂😉
I used to live just off the A5 in this area and I totally agree with Shakey, the roads around there are absolutely brilliant, world class even. Great show mate, a real review from a real bloke. Nice one guys....
Tried the manual version of the Africa twin last year to compare to my 1200GS. From the "go" felt at home and confident on the Honda and the gearbox compared to the GS so much better. On paper the GS is the better bike all round except for weight, but there's something about the Honda that makes it so nice to ride and so tempted to make the switch.
I had the BMW GS Adventure Rallye fully loaded, superb bike. However, I sold it and bought a 2022 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports and I have to agree with Shakey… the AT is an amazing bike, more like than it’s let to believe, it’s definitely underestimated. I can ride it fast, I can ride it slow and smooth, I can be aggressive or go on comfortable long rides, it does all and does it really well. It’s fun, it’s got plenty of power with loads of torque, it’ll power wheelie in 1st and 2nd gear, it even has Apple CarPlay. Stunning look also. Would I like an extra 25/30 hp? Yes. Is it needed? No. What can I say Honda has a winner. Great and most importantly unbiased review!
Great review, being 6ft 3 I've been aiming for one of these for a long time, BMW has always been the gold standard, but the triumph has really caught my eye for a while now
Just for info I’m 6’3” with long legs. 20 years ago I had the R1150GS and that went all round Europe in blissful two up comfort. Fast forward through Harley’s old and new ish, a Buell, a Yamaha MT-01 (a very underrated machine) and a 2016 R1200R. The R1200R was sold because it was too cramped. Lovely bike but just a touch too short in leg room. The salesman caught me in a weak moment and for an extra 11hp and an undisclosed (how much…..) sum of cash a year old 2019 R1250GS Rally TE was mine. If you’re tall it’s an incredible bike. The Adventure is a different dynamic, now I never thought it would be but I rode the GS & the GSA back to back. It’s the GS all the way. Love to know how you get on, in early March they will no doubt have a surplus of part ex’d bikes with the registration change. Snap up a low mileage one old man owner. I know I did 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@@PhilbyFavourites thanks mr. i ran a 2005 Kawasaki Z750S for 8 years and well that was small and i toured on it for 9 months, cramped didn't sum it up, after 50 miles I'd be stretching in all manners, so I think anything more upright for me will be heaven
Finally a review where it isn't about money. People are also strapped for cash these days. Fewer are able to drop 20K! On a bike. Fantastic presentation, camera work, post production. Well done to "Everyone" on the TLBS. Keep Em Coming.
Great vid as always... I can totally understand Shakey's verdict; I owned three bikes in my fairly short biking 'career' and the one that still pangs of regret for selling it is the least powerful but most involving.
I have the Africa Twin and despite having less power its a wonderful bike with DCT. It shines on road and humbles many a more powerful bike and shines even more for a big bike when taken off road. Most are drawn to the power figures which maybe lacking, but the AT is the under dog on power but packs the greatest punch, delivering fun on and off road. One of the most versatile bikes money can buy.
I first sat on the Africa Twin in May 2016. Didn't ride it, just sat on it at the dealership. It was the first one in at a dealer in the United States and had already been sold. It felt right. Everything about it felt ride. Got mine (DCT) in August, and let me tell you, those were 3 long months. I gingerly rode it home, didn't have a lot of experience. DMV, then work, first thing in the morning. Carefully rode home that night. On day three, I basically had gone from being a driver to being a rider. 20k miles in the car per year became 20k miles on the bike per year. Last time i'd ridden a motorcycle was a 150cc jobbie in Zimbabwe in 1991. I'm on my 3rd one now. All have been DCTs. Still love every thing about it and only lament the lack of cruise control.
Perhaps one of the most genuinely enthusiastic reviewers and good to hear a few criticisms too.. It's funny with bikes. Some bikes I expected to wow me but for some strange reason, didn't. Where as something that on the spec sheet could be called a bit below par, you end up gelling with.
Brilliant episode, test and location !! I really enjoyed your reference regarding the different emotions you got from riding a double quick race bike to riding one of these and how much more relaxed and more able to just enjoy riding a motorcycle for its sense of freedom. I personally own a 2017 Afrika Twin and chose it because it was the nearest thing I could get to my previous bike a KTM 950 adventure. The reasons being it had that purposeful look about it as did the 950,( backed up by my test ride. nimble and fun) apposed to the battle ship look and feel that the 1200 plus cc bikes have and it doesn't leak oil. I've had the AT 5 years now and wouldn't change a thing about it, enough power, great comfort, looks the part and it wheelies like a gooden !! Thanks Late Brake Show and Shakey, keep doing what your doing !!
Down to earth honest review, respect Shanes on track results and his new career on this channel is spot on! Authority and knowledgeable always trust Shanes opinions keep it up
Are you doing some more of the Byrne Out episodes? It's without a doubt some of the best presentation and knowledge I've seen in these kind of tests/reviews. Also all the bike collection episodes are addictive. Please please please are you doung some more.? Thanks Martin
Another great video Shakey. I'd have to agree with the Honda, it just seems a more balanced adventure bike, the BMW and Triumph seem more touring focused. And for anyone who thinks you need 135-150hp just remember the original Ducati 916 made about 105hp. Check on You tube the original fastbike videos in late 90's with Shakey doing incredible things with 996's, Suzuki TLR and Honda Vtr and the most a couple of those made was about 120 ish hp.
There’s one big thing going for the Honda…£5.5k cheaper, than the others. However, you can see why it’s so much cheaper. The quality of materials may be good, but it’s not exactly the doyen of technology or engineering. That swing arm looks like it came off a CB125! Again, that does mean that it’s cheaper to fix, especially when you drop it. It also means that buying a second hand one is cheaper too. Unfortunately, there’s those of us who prefer a BMW, and to pay a premium price for a premium bike. I chose an RT over the GSA, but I didn’t ever consider anything other than a BMW having owned one before and other bikes. Ownership is always better with the Beemer if you can afford it.
Hey Shakey. Cracking video. Agree result. Bmw and Triumph are brilliant but have more than enough of power, gadgets etc for any situation. Rode Africa Twin recently, hits the sweet spot. Comfy with enough go for the road. Snowdonia is superb,.. can't wait to visit again. Have you tried North Antrim Coast road? C 😀
It doesn’t surprise me at all the Honda AT1100 won this. I used the predecessor to this model during an off road weekend with the Dave Thorpe riding school a few years ago, when they were still based in Wales, and it was brilliant and intuitive to ride on and off road in very challenging muddy and mucky conditions. The fact is costs so much less to buy than the Triumph and BMW seals the deal. I could have an AT plus a fun retro in the garage for the price of one BMW, or spend the change on a lot of tours and holidays actually enjoying the bike!
The standard exhaust on the Africa twin has a valve too. Additionally the Africa twin will keep up with the bmw easily but suspect you didn’t have the dct in the sports setting. In D it shifts early.
Had a crash on my 6 month old gs. Ended up with the 1000 africa auto no frills version from insurance while my was being repaired. I was determined to hate it but ended up loving it. Perfect for a scotland trip we did as the bike took care of the riding while I looked round at the scenery 😀
Totally agree… I’ve got a Standard 2021 Africa Twin DCT and would only swap it for a new Africa Twin DCT Adventure Sport for the same reason you said… you feel at home soon as you climb on! I didn’t even find the left hand switch gear hard to get the hang of which seems to be a common complaint
Loved the comparison- although I think it would’ve been interesting to have at least a rough dirt road ; or some easy off-roading in the “test”. Bounce over some rocks or wet the wheels - at least to get an idea of the suspension and weights of each. You have an easy enjoyable style. Thanks.
Loved this video. These are exactly the types of bikes that I am most interested in. I just feel so much more comfortable on normal roads sat in an upright position. Our roads in the Uk are so bumpy that you just don’t want a stiff bike and 100bhp is plenty, so the Honda feels just like the right choice for me too. Well done Shakey!
A half decent rider on an adventure bike will be just as quick on welsh twisties, I’m not even a quick a rider and I ride with knobbly tyres and a lot of sports bike riders I come across aren’t that good in corners.
I have the Africa twin. I bought it new in March last year and I’ve put nearly 6000 miles on it. I also have a sports bike but since buying this the sports bike is redundant almost. I can get from a to b just as quick and with less drama on the Honda. It’s got so many features and I can even scrape the pegs in summer. To the point my sports bike mates don’t feel the need to pass me as we’re going at a more than decent pace. It’s just a fantastic bike. And I ride it in all weathers. Out of nearly 40 bikes over the years this is in my top three most fun bikes.
Well, I'm biased - I own an Africa Twin (manual) and haven't ridden the others. It's a great bike, it initially feels a little intimidating after road bikes, but once rolling the size and weight seems to disappear. Occasionally I feel a few more horses would be handy, but after 20,000 miles, long trips, local thrashes, it's been a pleasure. I've seen that guy Bou - it's just mental how he throws the AT around like an old XL250! Great video Shakey, and it'll soon be time for BSB and WSB - Yay!!!!!
Great Video by Shakey, but I am a member of the GS cult because of my height. I might be tempted elsewhere if I could get on & ride confidently. My current GS is exactly what was tested, I very happy with it. My third GS.
This is how a bike review video should be done, Shane is brilliant! 👍 I had a sneaking suspicion that he/you would actually like the Honda best "for what this type of bikes are ment to do". Here in Finland we are still plagued by our national ridiculous taxation on new vehicles that makes the Honda reach almost 30000 eur with the DCT and the adjustable suspension. The GS is starting from 27-something here but I don't think it'll be difficult to get it over 30 with some options so they are a lot of money. While the Hondas power might be all and just what you actually need, I think the Honda have received a lot of bad press for not having enough power just because the benchmark BMW has more. Will be interesting to see if Honda are shooting themselves in the foot at least here in Finland when they are now launching the new Transalp starting at 15990 eur. Even smaller engine yes, but also lighter and almost half the price. Maybe Honda should up the engine 150-200 cc / 30-40 hp even though it doesn't really need it to be able to take on the BMW in "top trumps" and be a serious competitor even in the minds of GS-people and perhaps justify the price more...🤔 Finally I have a question for Shane: It actually seems like Honda has stopped selling the Africa Twin with a traditional manual gearbox at least here in Finland from 2023 so it's really no longer an issue if you are looking at a new bike, but given the choice, would Shane rather get the DCT or a normal manual? I have no doubt the DCT can be trusted technically, and function is rather fantastic really, BUT, does it take away from the feeling of driving a motorbike in the first place or not? At least I like having "something to do" when taking my bike for a ride and being able to perhaps be a little bit more engaged in the process...🤔
Fantastic video and comparison. Particularly I had the BMW LC 1200, then I had the KTM 1290 SAS. Both fantastic bikes, highlighting the poise and agility in curves of the BMW, as well as the KTM engine (for me the best engine in this category). After suffering the immense heat that KTM gives off with its V-twin, I decided to change it. I tried the 2022 version of the AT in manual and DCT version. I tested the Triumph 2022 GT and rally. I finally opted for the Triumph Rally Pro version (20 liters) for the following reasons: 1) More comfortable seat and geometry (I'm 6.10 feet tall). 2) Suspensions are second to none. 3) The handling on mountain roads with a 21 tire is better than the AT. 4) It has a quick shifter similar or better than KTM. 5) The cardan shaft simplifies your life. Maybe I got used to draw a smile under the helmet, with the sensations of the KTM engine. This Triumph engine is the closest (I discard Ducati because of its reliability). Maybe when I'm a few years older and need smoothness, automatic shifting and cushioned sensations, I'll reconsider the AT.
Really enjoyed that vid, and gotta say I’d love to see more reviews from Shakey. He communicates well and has a knack of hitting the nail on the head. The Africa Twin is by far the coolest of the three, looks the prettiest, and I have to say that I’ve always found Triumphs a bit dull and uninspiring to ride. When I test rode the GS, I found it great at slow speeds, but asthmatic at higher cruising speeds, or if you have to pass traffic uphill. In the end I chose a multi V4s, and haven’t regretted it for a moment, but I’m really tempted by the Honda…..just because it’s so cool.
Had a few CRF1000 ATs since launch, after loving the original XRV750 Africa. Ridden the GS, but for me KTM’s 1290 Super Adventure S is a world apart in terms of the motor and power delivery
So... looks like im gunna have to book a bike tour of Wales before i leave. All great bikes, horses for courses. I personally love my 2020 Suzuki V-Strom 1050XT. It's my choice. Thanks Shakey
Three great bikes! I agree on the winner. I just love the DCT. And the power is enough for the bike's purpose. I have the 2019 version with 95 PS and this already is sufficient for my style of riding.
Completely agree with the result. It’s light it’s enough to mile munch but also it will cover rough terrain. Me now at my age, a bit wiser I guess the power ,ok could be better on motorways but it still does no grumble. Would love one.
In March 2021, I bought a Ducati Streetfighter V4S as a bit of a treat. However, six months later I sold it and replaced it with a Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports. I'm never going to sell the Honda. It's just such a loveable bike, and it'll go everywhere and do everything. Glad Shakey appears to love it as much as I do.
I now own a gs rallye hp and I agree with you about the gs feeling very refined and maybe a bit sterile, I've put a can on mine now and it has transformed it I love it , I've ridden the latest at and the motor is fantastic handling is perfect but it's to tall for me otherwise I'd probably had bought it ! More videos please mate 😍
Can’t speak about the triumph or Honda but having a 1250gs i can say that changing tyre brand makes a big difference regarding the noise coming from the front. At least it did it for me.
Nice review Iv’e been riding my whole life and 2 yrs a ago I started getting in to Adventure /Enduro riding. Since I have had a Wr250 BMW 800GSA and A KTM 690. Iv’e enjoyed all of them but they have not hit my happy place. Sold all of them and bought a 2019 AT manual with 4k miles. Setting it up this winter for spring riding. It can’t come soon enough. But I am pretty happy with it so far. Cheers
I've ridden my 2016 AT 95,000 miles now. Can't say ill be moving on to anything else until it dies, but when it does ill be getting another AT. For me, its the best bike ever for touring and it turns a lot of heads when you scoot by on a trail or pass
I have the road version of the Africa Twin, the NT1100. I chose the manual with a quick shifter rather than the DCT. It’s absolutely perfect for touring and not too pricey at 13 grand.
Oooh bike content from Late Brake Show is a nice change. These are all dorky dad-bikes to me, but you can't deny the functional appeal to them. Loved the video, hoping to see more bike stuff in the future !
Great show Dakar this year was full of highs and lows to watch, like you the Africa twin is a lovely bike with off road tyres. Pity the aprillia rxv wasn't included as they attempt another entry as they did with the tuareg in 1989.
Great review of the bikes! Looks like agility over pure power wins. I too always prefer handling over pure power especially in motorcycles. Keep up the great content and we shall hope to see the KTM, Ducati Harley, Honda shootout soon.
Great video and really do enjoy these. I'm glad the Africa Twin got the vote. I always think it gets overlooked but imo it's definitely the nicest looking of the bunch. Might have to get a test ride on one. 👍🏼
I have the new rally explorer and and had it for 2 years now the bike is unbelievable and I cannot see how it can be bettered it has everything and is perfect n all terrains
Filmed in Snowdonia, North Wales. We based it the rides around Ogwen valley and Betwys-y-Coed, and Pen Y pass. All around this part of N Wales is epic scenery, but the weather can be punishing. Perfect adventure bike territory.
I have to agree with you whole heartedly, I've owned approximately 35 bikes in my time and have rode all through winter on my 2017 africa twin DCT not because I have to but because I love to. Al Gore rides a DCT
I don't think people understand the sense of freedom you get riding a motorbike. Great video

Great review, looking forward to next Byrne Out
What a great addition Shakey Byrne is to the channel. Honest, authentic, engaging. Great video!

I’m on my second ATAS DCT ES and your totally right!! Been all over Europe two up fully loaded and never missed a beat ! I bloody love them
Fantastic video Shakey to cook Sunday dinner too. I though the Subaru video last week was good but you’ve trumped Johnny’s effort 😂
Cheers Mike - perfect Sunday evening viewing. 👌🏽
great reveiws shakey awesome mate :)
Those places look surreal. Beautiful shots!
Not surprised Shakey, I own a 2017 Africa Twin DCT and I LOVE it. Great video BTW, i love your episodes of the Byrne Out.
Brilliantly shot and straight to the meat. Shakey is the guy to tell the truth and I loved this video.. Ta.
great video. thank you.
Great quality video. Imagery and scenery.
Plus Shane is brilliant as always.
Greetings from the Netherlands
Many thanks, glad you enjoyed the bikes, the Byrne and the Welsh scenery!
My old GSXR750 only had 106BHP, and I never once needed more. Nice one Shakey, gladens my soul to see you back on bikes, Respect.
I used to live just off the A5 in this area and I totally agree with Shakey, the roads around there are absolutely brilliant, world class even. Great show mate, a real review from a real bloke. Nice one guys....
Any idea where the opening 5 min scenes were filmed ? I'd like to ride that road.
And finishes with a Byrneout. Quality!
Brilliant review Shakey one of the best and most non biased I’ve seen. Cheers mate 👍🏻
Another great video Shane. Loving then Byrne out episodes
👊🏽
I totally agree with your choice.
Awesome. Great video! Picked up my ATAS in last September and can relate to everything you covered here.
Finally an adventure bike video that gives all my GS riding mates a slap in the face, great vid Shakey
Fantastic review video Shakey , really enjoyed it 👍
Down to earth honest review, respect Shanes on track results and his new career on this channel is spot on!
Very pleasant to listen to this man. Cheers
Wow, this is a nice edition to the program! Love it!
Vasko, thank you. We are honoured to host Shakey's bike content on this lil channel.
Absolute class. 👌
Excellent show , all done without notes and on the fly .. .😎
You have certainly found your true vacation in life. Great video.
Good to see someone who knows what he is talking about doing these tests.
Fantastic to see these high quality bike related videos, great work.
Drove one exact same while back ,same jumped on it like I had it for 10 years, great stuff sir well done
This is how a bike review video should be done, Shane is brilliant! 👍
I had a sneaking suspicion that he/you would actually like the Honda best "for what this type of bikes are ment to do".
Maybe Honda should up the engine 150-200 cc / 30-40 hp even though it doesn't really need it to be able to take on the BMW in "top trumps" and be a serious competitor even in the minds of GS-people and perhaps justify the price more...🤔
Finally I have a question for Shane: It actually seems like Honda has stopped selling the Africa Twin with a traditional manual gearbox at least here in Finland from 2023 so it's really no longer an issue if you are looking at a new bike, but given the choice, would Shane rather get the DCT or a normal manual? I have no doubt the DCT can be trusted technically, and function is rather fantastic really, BUT, does it take away from the feeling of driving a motorbike in the first place or not? At least I like having "something to do" when taking my bike for a ride and being able to perhaps be a little bit more engaged in the process...🤔
You can ride DCT in full manual mode. It’s terrific. Most reviewers completely miss this fact
Very nice and sensible choice!
Great review.
Looks like I bought the right bike!
2023 Africa Twin Adventure Sports for the win!!
87 octane is always a nice thing come fill-up time 🤔
In March 2021, I bought a Ducati Streetfighter V4S as a bit of a treat. However, six months later I sold it and replaced it with a Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports. I'm never going to sell the Honda. It's just such a loveable bike, and it'll go everywhere and do everything. Glad Shakey appears to love it as much as I do.
Do you find it has sufficient power? I have the r1200gsa at the moment but very tempted.
@@ericstephenson3607 I lost 108bhp when I switched bikes. I don't miss it 🙂
@@Rawricus thanks Martin appreciate it 👍
I now own a gs rallye hp and I agree with you about the gs feeling very refined and maybe a bit sterile, I've put a can on mine now and it has transformed it I love it , I've ridden the latest at and the motor is fantastic handling is perfect but it's to tall for me otherwise I'd probably had bought it ! More videos please mate 😍
Can’t speak about the triumph or Honda but having a 1250gs i can say that changing tyre brand makes a big difference regarding the noise coming from the front. At least it did it for me.
wind noise...
Cheers
Excellent test, Shakey is brilliant at this.
I agree with you sir, the africa twin is the best compromise to my mind, I'm going tomorrow to ride one, just to see or to buy. Thanks
Well done shacky really enjoyed the video, I must say they are all great bike's but I'm with you on your decision thanks.
Good choice on the Honda, they know how to make a good bike. Great videos, keep it up
I've ridden my 2016 AT 95,000 miles now.
Great video and those bikers coming the other way when he was riding the Honda had no idea who was on the bike! I hope they watch this! 👍
Not a bike rider, but prefer this style of bike over others, so fab episode, great presentation and yes epic scenery! Perfect way to end it too!!
I ride motorbikes but don't watch bike reviews. As always with the LBS enjoyed this. Off to look at touring bikes in the spring
Brilliant! At half the price that Honda is a honey. Best looking too
Fantastic. Having been a Honda girl all of my life, I had no doubt what the winner would be out of the three which u tested.
Oooh bike content from Late Brake Show is a nice change.
These are all dorky dad-bikes to me, but you can't deny the functional appeal to them. Loved the video, hoping to see more bike stuff in the future !
Thank you, glad you appreciated it.
Great show
Dakar this year was full of highs and lows to watch, like you the Africa twin is a lovely bike with off road tyres.
Great video Shakey.
Great video, thanks.
Great video and really do enjoy these. I'm glad the Africa Twin got the vote. I always think it gets overlooked but imo it's definitely the nicest looking of the bunch. Might have to get a test ride on one. 👍🏼
Fantastic video . The noise from teh GSA front end if from the OEM tyres. Change them and it goes.
I have the new rally explorer and and had it for 2 years now the bike is unbelievable and I cannot see how it can be bettered it has everything and is perfect n all terrains
Where was this filmed? It’s stunning. Need to get the bike out and head there. Brilliant as always.
Filmed in Snowdonia, North Wales. We based it the rides around Ogwen valley and Betwys-y-Coed, and Pen Y pass. All around this part of N Wales is epic scenery, but the weather can be punishing. Perfect adventure bike territory.
Get up there in early-mid spring. Often glorious weather and not too hot that time of year.
...and not quite as many midges as you get on the NC500
