I absolutely love the vehicular diversity that is portrayed on this channel. Johnny you and the team have really nuanced the content to engage, influence and educated a broad market and demographic. Although I am Australian and never visited the UK my general love and appreciation for classic, rally, ev's, motorcycles and collections has been enhanced. So much so it has spawned my goal to visit the UK and explore the countryside, visit some of these publicly available sites, races, meets and personalities. Thanks again for transitioning into an online streaming platform it is my go to source to relax, share and strengthen my passion.
Hey Shakey, I'm the apprentice tech at Padgett's (current off due to an injury) and I'm so jealous I didn't get a chance to be in when you visited. It's good to see the amazing bikes I work around everyday being shown off to the public.
Been there countless times. Once rocked up and chatted to clive who showed me around the worksops and incredibly saw the engine that eventually became the yzr that bruce rode at the TT. Clive remembered every detail about my mates big brother who bought a TZ 750 motor from him in the 70’s. A special motor ow31 I believe. Clive was an amazing completely grounded man to give me what would’ve been extremely valuable spare time. I absolutely love the padgett mentality and the fantastic family business they’ve built up
Shane, I cannot thank you enough. As an Australian, we watch in wonder at the road racing and awesome circuits you have around the UK. I have followed the roads closely for decades and Padgetts is a name and family I have come to know and respect. What could I add about Clive that has not been said already. His genuine love and care for both racing and rider is very special. When Bruce Anstey rode the Padgetts bike to win the lightweight class a few years back, the way Clive has brought on Davey Todd, their success and longevity is no accident. If I get to the NW200 one day, I,ll be sure to stop in at a Padgetts dealership, hopefully one that Clive is at on the day. Thanks again Shane, great series.
Saw Bruce win his first Superbike TT on a trip from Oz to IOM in 2015. Lucky enough to meet him the evening before and have a chat and get some pics. So memorable.
Nice one Shakey, another absolutely brilliant TLBS Byrne Out episode...🏍 When you saw that old Superbike tucked away in the workshop that you said you'dlike to dig out, it made me wonder if there's any room for some TLBS Bike Barn Find episodes 🤔 Love this channel and proud to be a Patreon...🎩
Another fantastic episode of the Byrne Out 👍🏻 From being a 9 year old going to Snetterton 'for the 'bikes' with my father we always knew that anyone aboard a Padgetts prepared, tuned and consequently sponsored bike were pretty much guaranteed to win or place in the races we watched 😎👍🏻
Wow ! This was truly friggen fantastic. If the Padgett family don’t have serious Motorcycle Magnetism then I don’t know who does. This just blew me away, the UK really is a special place for motorcycles and Motorcycle Racing !?! Seriously the only RCV 213 dealer ,WTF, this shows you how kick ass Padgetts is. I love the fact that as young kids the desire to race bikes was in the mind already 🤘🏼 so special. I always felt the same and did become a local race champion and Canada’s 1st Ducati Master Tech. Every moment of my journey I’ve been in love with it, even eating that sh** sandwich. Thank you to Shakey and Co. for bringing this killer video to life. You got me now,Subscribed !!!
Man I'm so jealous of ya'll across the pond with how much enthusiasm there is for sportbikes and sportbike racing. I live 10 minutes from some the best twisties in the country but nobody here cares about an on-camber decreasing radius corner.
Interesting watch, that's my closest bike dealers, my mt125 and my daughter's ybr125 both came from there. I remember walking around all the showrooms and being amazed at the bikes on display and tucked away in corners, not just new bikes either.
Great episode of the Burnout. Please please please do a similar feature for Philip McCullen’s shop in Northern Ireland. What a set up he has. The best part is that Philip is the busiest person there. He’ll stop and talk to you all day, but in between the conversation he’s off delivering bikes in his old van or dealing with customers. You name it. What a legend and gentleman. It’s the motorcycle capital of Ireland!
Excellent Shakey!..what a wonderful place Clive is the oracle and so lovely to hear how passionate the girls are to be carrying on the family tradition...you wouldn't get me out of there never get tired if listening to Clive
Fantastic video Shakey. Always watched and loved racing, tried it once was absolutely crap. But my one effort taught me exactly what it took to be a rider and I have nothing but admiration for racers.
I knew Clive all through his racing career(all too sadly cut short) and his brother Gary, such a kind and generous family are rare indeed. Clives dad Peter was always my favourite Padgett though as he never stopped pulling my leg. Thanks for your best episode yet Shakey!
This was a fantastic video, as a 100% YAMAHA man, addicted from my teenage years in the 1980s riding RD LC's i could spend a week in that one section alone i believe. That was a lovely mention about Bruce Anstey one of my all time favourite racers, what he did on that 250c at the Classic TT was outstanding, thanks for making and sharing this video.
Thank you Shane Byrne & Clive Padgett for this wonderful video, Clive helped me out a bit when I raced my TZ250 way back in 1997, enabling me to win two championships & to finish second in another that season, when I raced with the BEMSEE club in 1997 Shayne Byrne had just starting racing in the 600 class 🙏💚
Excellent video. The shop wasn't however the original shop as mentioned by Shakey. The original shop was at the other end of town near Foxes biscuits. As good as this video is, it doesn't even scratch the surface of what this family have acheived or go any ways to uncovering the history. I live nearby and started my own career in the industry there as a saturday lad 30+ years ago. It was a dream come true. Just fascinating.
Great show ..Padgett s is a name I heard in motorcycle racing from the early 90 ies. Wonderful to see the people behind the name. Clive s range of reference and of bikes are astonishing. Bravo to the Padgett s family from South Africa 🇿🇦 👏 . Bravo to the video
Hi shakey, thanks for the great vid! What a great guy Clive is and what a wonderful family!! Seeing this video should be a real inspiration for any one wanting to start a family business in the UK, their passion for motorcycles shines through by the bucketload, I was really moved by their dedication!!
Love the way Clive say us rather the me or I. 😊 Padgetts there definitely no I in team. What a fantastic video as always shakey look forward to the next one. Merry Christmas to everyone 😊
I loved when you got to the RS250 and Clive immediately lit up and said “proper race bikes 250’s”…… I foolishly sold my 1992 TZ250 a few years ago to stop me being tempted to race it, I bought it in 2002 for track days, then had a mate of mine riding it in club races. I was having a problem at Cadwell and rang Padgetts and was put through to Clive who had a couple of ideas of what the issue might be and we sorted it-the man is an absolute encyclopaedia of racing bikes.
Awesome walkthrough, Shakey. Reminds me of when I used to come down to Colwyn's after school to annoy you, Will and Dave lol :D but we never had the full tour like you have here!!
Right, next time i'm over in blighty on my bike, this has got to be on my 'must visit' list. Big hello ftom a bit further south 🇨🇭, bless & thank you all for the great videos, especially Johnny & Shakey for your hard work & putting this on RUclips . Merry Christmas and a great & Happy New Year .🎄☀️🙏✨🤙
Loved watching this Shakey - what a fantastic set up the Padgett family have there. I will be following their riders with improved knowledge and heightened interest next season. Mr Clive Padgett - respect sir.
My ignorance when it came to Padgett was immense before this video. . I thought they were directly connected to Honda in some way, since that's all I've ever seen them run. I thought they ran Yamaha's previously but figured I must have been wrong. Anyway- I had no idea they were a bike dealership and could go with any manufacturer.
I knew 2 guys called Dave and Lenny Padgett, Lenny was famous round our way ( Cadnam , New Forest ) for wheelieing a CBX1000 Honda down a straight mile , only reason he put the front wheel down was traffic lights the other end. .
Great to see shops like this still exist. Unfortunately some bike stores are run with very little culture the people working in them might as well be selling dog food. Going to this store would be an occasion. Great work
I remember looking for a 250 or 150 GP bike, cause you know I was never going to race them, just being nosey. I checked every so often, and Padgett, always had new stock for sell, maybe not every year, but damn they had stuff. Just casually here if needed. Says alot about them. Like when Honda shipped stuff to the Dunlops for testing.
Very very interesting video of a dealership which I have known about for many years. My wife and I bought a pair of CB500Xs from Fiona last year and she is a totally pleasant and very knowledgable lass who made us feel important and valued. Jamie and Jason did the first services, and at all points the service given by this company is such that I would recommend them to anyone, and will certainly return when the time comes for the next bike. Such a difference from my local Honda dealer who seems to have taken ignorance to a higher level than I would have thought possible. *I hasten to add that I have no affiliation to Padgetts other than being a highly satisfied customer!!!*
F'k ya, what a motorcycle shop. What a bunch of amazing bikes in there. You Brits do so much better with motorcycles than us. Can't say I've ever seen an American riding to work with their significant other in a sidecar.
Many visits to Batley to see Clive, Picking up various sidecar engines, one of them being a very special Krauser with special Yamaha top end which we had to keep covered up at all time, think the last visit to the shop we came away with the last Darren Dixon LCR with the ADM engine from when he raced for Clive, remember Helen when she was a toddler at Clive's house. Spent many a Wednesday at Mallory with Clive testing sidecars with Darren and Derek, on one special occasion John Reynolds was there on the 500cc Harris Yamaha.
I remember going in there when I was looking for my first bike, circa 1985, It was a toss up between a dt50 from Padgetts and a Suzuki 50 (xr1 50?) The Suzuki won. Never been back since but the name always seems to crop up.
That is how a business should be run, you give respect and loyalty to everyone and it comes back in spades. I worked for a company for 37 years, the first 35 was a big happy successful family, then the owner sold out to an American conglomerate and the only thing of importance now is profit, most of the employees had been there for years, had a wealth of experience, forged good business relationships with many companies. Sadly most have gone and with them the knowledge.

..that's the spirit that came over on the video of your learning- & work-space. Thx for being a part of it & get well proper 🙏🤙☀️
Clive is one of the loveliest and enthusiastic men is racing. All round top fella

What a great family, that nsr 500v is spectacular too
I'm not really too fussed by bikes but..... the enthusiasm and passion in this video is infectious
Another fantastic episode of the Byrne Out 👍🏻

🤯Wow! this episode was one of my favourites (until now). I absolutely enjoyed 👍🤤👍
Great to see Padgetts. A fantastic world class team from the little town of Batley.
Fantastic, wish this video was 3 hours long! Clive Padgett I’d an absolute gent.
Loved that, Padgett's is the holy grail of motorcycle shops, history oozes outta the walls.
Wow ! This was truly friggen fantastic. If the Padgett family don’t have serious Motorcycle Magnetism then I don’t know who does. Shakey is like a kid in a sweet shop! Great episode.
He got really excited by this one, right?
Man I'm so jealous of ya'll across the pond with how much enthusiasm there is for sportbikes and sportbike racing. I live 10 minutes from some the best twisties in the country but nobody here cares about an on-camber decreasing radius corner.
Absolutely beautiful episode. The bikes, the family, legacy and success is truly awe inspiring.
Padgetts have got a great guy with davy Todd, he's got what it takes. Merry Christmas guys, total professionals.
Interesting watch, that's my closest bike dealers, my mt125 and my daughter's ybr125 both came from there. I remember walking around all the showrooms and being amazed at the bikes on display and tucked away in corners, not just new bikes either.
I could listen to Clive padgett reading the phone dictory. A legend 👏 🙌 ❤️
Great video Shakey, proper trip down memory lane! Really glad you and Jonny teamed up.
Brilliant video.. the enthusiasm of the Padgetts... Thanks Shakey
What a great vid. I grew up in Batley, so i recall my Dad driving me past Padgetts a lot in the early 70s.
Amazing episode. I see why Padgett's are so good.

I'm a late-comer to the "Byrne Out" series and have to say I really love it.... there's a proper 'feeling' in these videos. Love 'em!
So good this! Can't wait to see the Padgett boys and girls back in the BSB paddock next year.
Brilliant video! Thanks Shaky and Padgetts! Need to hop on that YZR laddo!!!

I can't believe how quick 30+mins just flew by. Needs to be waaay longer. More Padgetts please

I was never expecting to see a honda mt5, that was my first bike when I was 16. Love the content keep up the good work 👍

That's what the four colour stripes in their logo represents, red honda yellow yamaha blue suzuki green kawasaki, racing and sales.
Bought my first ever bike from Padgett’s in 2012. A used 2002 Suzuki bandit and it was a minter! Amazing place
What an incredible post , about an incredible family unmatched anywhere in the world. Great job Shakey.
Two absolute legends.
I need to buy a bike from Clive.. That brand new YZF750 looks just the ticket! 😄👍🏼
I knew 2 guys called Dave and Lenny Padgett, Lenny was famous round our way ( Cadnam , New Forest ) for wheelieing a CBX1000 Honda down a straight mile , only reason he put the front wheel down was traffic lights the other end. .
