    Pricing went up $10k to $13k on the Tundra across all models with the recent change. I respectfully disagree with your comment about cost control. This was a major recast and a pricing increase which was substantially more than necessary. It’s abusive and has effectively disenfranchised many customers from being able to buy even a low end model. So disappointing given Toyota’s history for actually caring for customers. The company is changing and not for the better. Market cap, aggressive growth targets and competition are driving these changes in company tenor as they try to keep up. They have no awareness that they are alienating their customers. I am a very long term Toyota/Lexus customer (including 5 Tundras), and I am so disappointed by what I am seeing. Will be most interesting to watch this evolve.

      Price increases in almost all vehicles have way more than necessary. Really, shouldn't prices decrease some? Look at how long vehicles have been produced on assembly lines. Why do they constantly get to be more expensive?

      Agree!!! They truck companies are in for some change. It’s starting already. Used cars are not selling at auction and the new cars will get hit also. It will take 4-6 more months. Be patient. I would have traded in my 2019 tundra for a new one, but I’m with you! It’s principle for me!

  • @Rcol4427

    Good info but all the truck companies need to change the PRICE! I suspect some trouble for all pick-up makers from what I’m seeing, as the prices have become unreasonable. Still holding strong with my 2019 tundra for this reason.

    For interior, use better materials for those plastic components, the trucks are expensive and we deserve quality materials. For exterior, would like to see a built in step for the tailgate. Maybe add a power on board option like the Ford Powerboost. Also recovery hooks. Trucks need proper front and rear recovery hooks especially the off road models.

    David, I don't understand how you got your TRD Pro so early after going into production. I've been the first customer on a waitlist at a top-producing Toyota dealership here in Ontario since the day they started accepting deposits. It's the end of January 2023 and I'm still without my TRD Pro. Rates are up, and prices are up. The Lunar Rock colour is no longer available for the TRD Pro and I'm being told the end of March or sometime in April 2023 is the earliest I can expect to take delivery. Any suggestions that you can provide for someone like me that has been patiently waiting for over a year now?

    • @AutomotivePress
      @AutomotivePress  Год назад +1

My dealership is also working hard to go above and beyond now by bringing in the prototype TRD Pro used for press purposes so that I can at least get my eyes on the colour before having to take delivery.

    David, As you said, the cramped interior won't be addressed in a facelift. Your recent photo, where you are towering above 5'5" Akio Toyoda, has me very worried that he is having the whole Toyota fleet custom built to his personal dimensions. 😉😉 I do hope Toyota comes up with a more fuel efficient drivetrain option for people who want a high quality Toyota work truck but don't need to tow 10,000 pounds. Other manufacturers are offering turbo 4s in full size trucks maybe Toyota should consider the turbo 4/Hybrid option in base models. 🤔 I think I might be asking too much if I requested a single cab, 8 foot bed Tundra with the 4.0 V6 and 6 speed manual. 😁😁

  • @stevedemarest276
    @stevedemarest276 Год назад +1

    i would expect limited, market-trailing changes only for a refresh. Hopefully they'll take your suggestions for the truck's enormous schnozz. The colors will be updated more frequently. The interior electronics won't change much, but they may add some software-based updates. They'll add several smallish usability improvements. That's pretty much it.

I think Toyota missed alot of features on this new Tundra and shouldn’t wait 4-5 years to fix those misses. Also the Toyota dealer that I WAS ordering from jacketed the price up $1800 above MSRP. Do you not remember the changes between the , example, 2012 model and the 2017 "upgraded" Tundra. 30 things were dropped from the 12 to the 17 double cab. Little things like dual glove compartments, storage in the rear doors, and most important as I have gotten older, the assist handle to get in on the driver side. What happened to not only the transmission temperature gage inside, but the automatic transmission cooler on the outside. You didn't comment on the point that the turning radius has been increased by 4 feet on the new model or that the inside measurements have the legroom reduced both front and rear on the new double cab. I was ready to trade this year because of the illusion of 30 mpg. None of these things really worked out to well, they did finally return the assist Handel on the driver side door, but it's not worth the $50k to $70k price they are asking. Color choices are so poor I can't wait until 2028 until they "improve " things again.

    Not having auto 4wd is one key reason I wont buy a tundra. every other high end truck comes standard with it. The other thing i really dont like is the lack of built it remote start. i know they have something but its sketchy (e.g., may go away at some point and isn’t just a dedicated remote start
    button on the fob. I dont want an app subscription either!)

    I am a Toyota fan. I have been for many years. The new Tundra was quite the disappointment IMO. I can remember seeing so much footage of Toyota testing the new Tundra with a Ford, Chevy or Dodge close by. It seems that Toyota was comfortable with just bringing the Tundra up to meet the basic metrics of the competitors. Dodge is getting better MPG with a V8 than Toyota's twin turbo V6/hybrid. I don't see how Toyota expects to compete with the other manufacturers with this truck. It seems that they are completely satisfied with bringing up the rear in the full size truck market. If this is Toyota's best...I think the entire management team for the Tundra should be replaced. There are plenty of improvements that could be made without sacrificing Toyota's known reliability. Who does not put a full rear bumper, tow hooks and many other things on a full size truck? Also...they have taken one of the more manly looking trucks and turned it in to a Metrosexual looking truck
