I've owned both a Ram 1500 and a Tundra. I don't think I could bring myself to buy another Ram regardless how well it is rated. It just isn't going to last like the Tundra.
Research shows New vehicle buyers rate reliability as 5th or 6th on their list of priorities. Probably because most people when they buy new they only keep 4-6 years.
Just took delivery of a feb 2022 tundra sr5, endless problems... door lock failure on drivers side, floor behind passenger seat buckled still having it looked at, leaking passenger door seal from, rain, and just yesterday I got some random lights on dash ... taking it back soon... definitely want my money back.. should have just bought a gmc .. live n learn
@@m.b8257 With the new twin-turbo V6, that remains to be seen. I have a 16 Tundra with the 5.7 V8. I have no intention of buying the new Tundra and am shopping for a new RAM after twenty years of owning Toyota trucks all the way back to the T100. Toyota has completely dropped the ball as far as I'm concerned.
Hi David, love your videos and appreciate your knowledge. As a licensed automotive technician and also having taught automotive technology for almost 20 years i like to think that I’m pretty well versed in this subject. I agree with you on all your points. The only thing I’d like to add is that the longevity on the RAM will be know where close to the TUNDRA. Front end components such as steering linkages, wheel bearings, and all sorts of electric issues and water leaks are all issues that RAM continues to struggle with.
Some people are uninformed and full of bullshit. Do your research, Ram has been named the most reliable and has the largest percentage of loyal owners of all the truck brands. I should know since I owned 7 in the last 25 years. Very few issues and most were small.
David your review was extremely well done. I've had seven great Toyotas in my life and you could say all those things you mentioned about the Tundra with regard to every other Toyota I've had but my current one. After two Tundras in a row, I stepped back from pickups and bought a Highlander Platinum. This SUV has all the advances you pointed out in the RAM but is still a Toyota. I really am blown away by the Highlander and at the same time wondering how it is that Toyota can make this SUV as great as it is and on the other hand fall so far short in making the new Tundra. Thanks for this review of the very best looking and most feature packed truck on the market. Sorry for the Tundra.
I agree with your assessment also. I have a 2020 Ram and it is very nice. Toyota's I've had in the past were very reliable, but I'm concerned about the move to turbo's in the market. More parts and software tinkering with those and it makes working on them all the more expensive. I switched from the 2018 Ford due to the 10 speed transmission which IMO was junk (in the shop 4 times with never really being repaired). I wanted a transmission and engine that had been through years of refinement, not brand new designs especially in the first few years.
Co-worker had a '11 F-150 FX4 w/ Ecoboost motor. She had it in for the dealer to replace turbos three different times. Traded it in with less than 110,00 miles on it. She told me that she'll never buy another car/truck with a turbo engine again.
Unbiased clear review. I just traded my GX460 for a Gen 2 1794 Tundra actually, mostly due to the reliability issues of the 3rd gen, the as you say "busy" V6, and the supply chain issues ongoing. I'd like to see Toyota up its game here and bring back an efficient V8, it can be done, and make some improvements on their interiors to complete with a RAM.
Awesome video David. Both are great trucks. I have a 2022 Ram 1500 V6 eTorque. It has the best interior of any truck I’ve owned and the smoothest ride. The V6 eTorque is good for me because I don’t have any heavy towing or hauling to do.
I have money put down here in Alberta for a 1794 Tundra with the iforce max engine since I want to upsize and upgrade from my 2013 Tacoma. I’ve been working in industrial sites for years and it is a rare site to see a ram as a work truck. All I see are Fords, Chevy, GMC and the occasional Tundra. More fleets are now starting to get what ever they can get their hands on and that’s when I am now seeing some rams with fleet stickers. But I am still going to go with the tundra as I will be keeping it for the foreseeable future
Thank you for this review. My two finalists… My focus is value and reliability. Tough choice, but the Ram still has Chrysler/Dodge DNA, which isn’t a plus. I’ll wait for the Tundra to get past these teething issues. 👍🏼
Excellent video, I couldn’t agree with you more. I’m on my 3rd Tundra and couldn’t be happier. I’ve owned Dodge and Ford in the past and would NEVER buy another Dodge after having to go through the Lemon Law process. Looking forward to a new Tundra in the fall.
I’m a tundra owner 2015 1794 edition 76000 miles and still going strong 5.7 . Once I see a review about the iforce max with 100,000 - 150,000 miles on the odometer, then I can determine if the new tundras are reliable
Hi David I would buy the Ram 1500. Thanks for your videos from Carlos. Both nice trucks but Ram still has an interior that nobody comes close to it. My cousin had a 2015 the only issue was backup camera. He liked it. Wanted a new truck. Someone got a really nice truck.
I would take Ram all day every day…. Ram has come along way in reliability. In the past they had a bad rap yes. Through experience they have greatly improved. Hopefully they continue to improve. All manufactures need to practice Toyota and Honda reliability. You have done an excellent review like always. Love watching your videos. Cheers.

The newest RAM's have seductively cushy interiors and a comfy ride, but the durability of the mechanical componets is the same now as it was 5, 10, 15 years ago - disasterously poor.
Main problem I have with the Tundra is that I could not find one to even test drive. I did find a RAM 1500 Limited and a Ford Lariat. I chose the RAM over the Ford for a few reasons. The Ford with the 3.5eb was more powerful and faster than the RAM but the sound was not good and it did feel busy. I really don't need a truck to go fast and the RAM is more than fast enough. The interior was much better finished in the RAM. The Ford was good but the RAM was much more classy. The ride of the RAM was better. It felt more planted on the road while the Ford seemed to be easily upset by small to moderate bumps. However the biggest factor was that the RAM dealer was $2K under the MSRP and the Ford dealer was $3K over MSRP. You should have seen the look on their face when I told them that I was unable to do business with a company that insisted on gouging their customers. I mean.....the RAM dealer still clearly made money on the deal but the Ford dealer got none of my money. Too bad that I couldn't even compare the Tundra. If Toyota really wants to gain market share they have got to up their production. Thanks for the video and you confirmed all of my conclusions. Oh and I don't really think there will be that much of a difference in reliability. I gave my son my 2009 RAM 1500 and he is still driving it with 260k miles. We have not had anything out of the ordinary break. I think that with regular maintenance and not much abuse most brands are pretty reliable these days.
People that trade off their new dodge/ford/Chevy every two of years or so will probably be happy with their brand. But people like me can’t afford new so we have to look at reliability and longevity. I’ll be making my decision about the 2022 Tundra in ten years from now.
RAM is the better truck for the money. Better interior better bespoke options. Only question is reliability, and we don’t know for sure how these new Toyota platforms compare to the older ones. Everyone is assuming that reliability will be the same. I would not bet against Toyota but I will say this: if you want to order a truck that is exactly as you want it, go domestic. With Toyota you get what’s allocated. And I’m not against Toyota and pro domestic. I think they make a great product.
If you price a RAM 1500 to have everything that a Tundra has you pay $3000+ more for the RAM, if you get into the higher models it's closer to $6000. You pay for that interior and it definitely isn't worth that much a price difference.
I find it interesting that you think Ram is domestic since it is built in Mexico and only 58% of parts are manufactured in the US. Tundra I built in San Antonio and over 75% of its parts are made in US. Your logic is backwards
I will spend my hard earned money on Tundra 22 which I already ordered SR5 Off road edition since I would like to keep it for the next 10-15 years in Alberta .

Great video. I ordered a Tundra a month ago, hope to get it soon. My last two vehicles were Toyotas and I am sold on their quality, customer service and reliability and my research has not found anything else close to a Toyota.

This is exactly what I needed to see. Haven't been able to make up my mind. Test drove both and kinda like the RAM a little more. Something about the interior/ride quality. I think I will go with the Capstone/TRD Pro as it's slightly cheaper to buy and maintain than the limited 1500, gets almost equal performance and is better on fuel economy. There's also Toyota's proven reliability. Now to wait a few more months. Great video. Thanks. Will you do a Capstone vs TRD Pro at some point?
I bought the 2007 brand new off the lot. Best 34k I've ever spent. It's 4x4 5.7 SR5 with 282k, runs great. I live way up north in the snow/salt roads. The nearest car wash is 30 miles away. So, I hooked up the hot water heater to the outside hose. Works great. Hardly no rust on truck.
I had a 2008 Tundra. That generation and this latest generation (2022) of Tundra have little in common. It's not just the turbo issues in 2022, but axle issues and low quality build in both exterior and interior. My 2008 was the best and I wish I still had it. I will avoid the new Tundra till Toyota gets it right. Toyota just seems to be trying to put a muzzle on the problems rather than fixing the problems. Disappointing. It was such a good truck.
David, Like the comparison but like you said reliability is a big for me. I’m in the construction business and most of my coworkers have huge problems with the Ram trucks. Yes agree they are very luxurious inside but they are always in the shop and that’s what I hear out on the construction sites. I usually see more Chevy and Fords of late and a few Tundras so far. Thanks for the comparison segment.
You're in luck, they are replacing the V8s with the new GME-T6. It's an in-line turbo-driven 6 with horsepower around 500HP and torque at close to 600ft/lbs. 😄
Great and honest review. I agree 100% whit what you are saying. I’ve owned several Dodge products in the past and now a faithful Toyota & Lexus customer. At the end of the day, I would buy the Tundra, for what I value the most: reliability and low cost of ownership.
Good luck with the strength of build. My wife owned an '07 Tundra and it rode like a buckboard. She traded it in for a new 4-runner in '18 and had it for about 3 months. Ended up hitting a 16" concrete ditch drain in a small 2' deep ditch of a property owner's driveway. She hit at less than 20 MPH and the only visible damage was the driver's side wheel was moved back a few inches. She hit it at such a slow speed that the airbags didn't deploy. Claims rep. wanted to send it to a local body shop and give her $2800. I requested that it go to the dealer we bought it from. They had it for two weeks and determined it totaled. We got her a GMC Sierra SLT and even though they had to replace the entertainment center after one year and it took them two years and four different visits and another dealer along with three new batteries to fix a slow battery drain. She still loves it and will not ever buy another Toyota.
I'm not a Ram guy, but any of the big 3 are years a head of the Tundra. Always have been and the sales figures reflect that. Tundra has always been a distant 4th place. And now a V6 as the only option. Bolt a turbo on an engine and you're forcing it to be something it's not. Reliability and longevity suffer. Tundra has come along way, but it's got a long way to go to seriously compete.
You say that, but two of the big three sell to fleet. On a half-ton pickup you would be hard pressed to find a pickup with more hp and torque when comparing them to the tundra hybrid. I'm sure you will say they can have a higher payload and tow more. Normally that comes to HD trucks (so not half-tons), certain truck configurations. Yes you can get more power specced a certain way, but on average with half-tons when compared apples to apples, the Trundra is a great truck. Also problems with turbos are normally aftermarket slap-ons. Cars built with turbos in mind have better longevity. No mechanical devices are full proof.
I just traded in my 2018 Tacoma TRD Off-Road long bed for a Ram 1500 Night Edition Off-Road with the 6'4" bed. This video played a major part in the decision. The other major player in the decision is that there are no Tundras available right now, where I live. Maybe I will get one in a few years.
Perfectly said! Lease a RAM. Buy a Tundra! Keep in mind, only 1 of these companies had to change their branding (name) in an attempt to escape their reputation of selling terrible quality vehicles. That alone keeps me from buying one until another decade proves out the current design reliability. Don't fall for the additional bells and whistles if your vehicle won't reliably run for 10yrs +.

Everyone evolves ram has become a better reliable truck not on Toyota level but better than the past reputation my problem with Toyota it takes 20 years to redesign and if I leave something on the market for 20 years are more it should be reliable . I’ve owned a Camry great car very reliable but that’s only thing I could say like my vacuum nothing special
I've had a 1500 Chevy for 20 years. Not many problems. Love the interior space in the dodge plus I'm a V8 kinda guy. It's the dodge for my next pickup. Been looking at imports and domestic over the last two years. Dodge ram 1500 is my choice.
I agree with everything you said. I think short term the F150 and Ram is a better choice with more options and tech. If you’re looking at overall value and long term I believe the Tundra would be the right choice. Less expensive up front and less overall cost of ownership and better resale value.
I think history is turned on its head with many vehicle related pricing trends. I don't see why a Tundra would have better resale value than Ram or any other truck when the model years features are lacking. Historically, the parity between trucks is not the same. Disagree with the conclusions in this regard.
The v8 was something else but the new twin turbo v6 pretty much outperforms it in almost every way imaginable including power and efficiency. I was skeptical as first but now I totally get why Toyota did away with the V8. If anything, I’m disappointed they didn’t go this route years ago
Glad I found this video. Thanks for providing an unbiased opinion. I also appreciate many of the comments. I have a ‘22 Tundra (will be a ‘23) on order and was considering the Ram. Consumer Reports rates both as average reliability. I’ve only owned one Chrysler product over 20 years ago and it was such a bad experience, I’ve never considered Chrysler again, until recently with the ‘22 Ram! My gut feeling is that the Tundra would be the better choice for long term reliability, but this sitting around and waiting for a truck is very frustrating!
I like them both. I owned a Ram for 5 years no issues minus a recall on a part of the rear axle. Peace of mind of not having mds issues and having a full size suv with a useable 3rd row sold me on the Sequoia.
Great unbiased video, David. That Ram is nice!!! If I was in the market for a truck, I would choose a Tundra, as I already own one. I tend to keep my vehicles 15+ years. It will probably take more of my hard earned money to keep that Ram on the road.
4WD auto is a really nice feature to have. I used it a lot when I had it. I’ve had both newer models and the ram is very comfortable and very quiet inside plus the sound system sounds years better then the tundra. Except I did have to fix a bunch of stuff In the ram.pick your poison
Love my 2022 ram eco diesel iam getting over 30 miles per gallon on the ram bighorn. It drives nice and smooth with lots of power and plenty of space.I test drove the tundra but Ram was far better in everything.
This was a great review. I personally own a 2019 Limited 4x4 with 48K miles. Its held up pretty well in the 3 years I’ve had it but if i was buying a truck for 10+ years it would be a Tundra.
Sorry readers I have a 2013 ram 1500 with 138000 miles this month marks 9 years of ownership & the only issue with water pump 2 years ago & last year radiator.This Ram 1500 is a Laramie with the Ramboxes tow package so people stop hating love this truck.
Limited is my choice. I have a hard time warming up to the Tundra styling. What's with that grill treatment? I have owned Toyota before. Nicley built, but they are not immune to problems unlike represented here. I had a cam shaft go bad just out of warranty but a heartfelt plea to Toyota Corporate got it repaired for nothing out of my pocket other than inconvenience. My brother had two Toyota trucks that had terrible frame rot. In summary, every make and model can have issues. I am retired, and when I spend this kind of money for a cruiser truck and want quiet comfort and luxury the Ram 1500 Limited cannot be beat today.
That is personal perspective. Nothing is immune to problems. All manufacturers have issues. Also it's the way the person takes care of their car after purchase that contributes to how great of longevity a vehicle has. Environmental conditions too.
David, I find your videos informative and you very articulate. I will buy a new pickup in 2023 hoping prices will come down a bit. I have a 2014 ram 1500 which at about 6 years old I had issues with the air suspension. Nothing is more important to me than long-term reliability. I'm leaning toward a Tundra in hopes that it will live up to toyota's reliability and durability standard. Thanks again and keep up the great videos.
David, great informative video rendering a very neutral honest opinion. Your comparison of the Ram vs. the Tundra was fact filled and accurate. I agree 100% with you; for short term ownership opt for the Ram, for long term dependable ownership opt for the Tundra. The twin turbo V6 Tundra hasn't proved itself, but wearing that 'TOYOTA' emblem is a true confidence booster. Toyota's reputation for durability is 'tried and true'!
David, my choice as well to be able to enjoy driving both. Long and short term lease of the Ram, and buy the Tundra for it’s reputation and proven reliability.
That was a great review. Thank you so much. I am presently in the market. My only concern about the RAM It's what they call the ramp tick Which is an internal Malfunction in the engine, which stops the oil from reaching the Cam shaft. Do you know have they updated it yet.
Very nice review. Really appreciated the upfront honest opinion to determine the best of the best. It always comes down to who's going to be 1st or 2nd in an very demanding Automotive industry. Sure RAM and Toyota have their strengths and weaknesses but are they able to improve in short and long term? I only have 2 key points to make. For Toyota, that ugly front face is very similar to Chevy's or GM truck "Butt Ugly" front end. For RAM, long term quality of the a few components but they have improved a lot over the years. Now that all manufacturers have displayed their product, what's next in the new chapter of EV"s pickup trucks and who will come out on top on the next round of reviews?
Once you have to say I can always listen to somebody and take their advice when they're not biased and they're honest he is one honest person I will pick the tundra all day
@@sanfordalston4466 Several years back Ford had a video of the Tundra going down RR tracts and it shaked badly. The reason is the way they built the frame, while Ram and Ford had come out with fully boxed frames, Toyota made it into 3 sections. The flex of their frames were ridicules.
@@sanfordalston4466 I have a 2010 Tundra with 141K miles that I use for work. No issues? I don't know about the bed shaking but I know that I load it with 1500lbs+ on a weekly basis and never had an issue 💪
I bought a 2021 Ram and was a little sad initially I didn’t wait for a new Tundra, not so much anymore. I love my Ram and feel better about the reliability being I have just the regular 5.7 hemi without Etorque.
Great review especially the exterior-have been a mopar guy all my life literally. Yet I have been lucky the only issue I had with the dodge/ram was gen 3 and it was under warranty-I haul and tow sometimes. Also maybe it's the American in me love a V-8. 4th gen Ram no issues and rode it into the ground-finally got the 5th gen and it's not the top of the line-it need not be yet has worked very well and as all things man-made we will see. But Toyota's still look dated for me and those extra 2 gears not sure if they are need but then again the V-6 has improved over the years. Ultimately a person will buy what they want.

Just watched TFL Ike Gauntlet tow challenge video with the Big Horn Ram and the Limited Tundra. Guess what the Ram won both in better towing MPG and overall quality. So the good old Hemi beats the turbo V6 in the F-150 and Tundra. Also, they said the prices were comparable at around $57,000 Just like David said the Ram had a nicer interior.
I have been leasing a 2019 RAM Rebel. Mechanically its been good. Complaints, cracks have started on edge of drivers seat at 1 year old. I can't get the air temperature mix right, either too hot or too cold. I have had times when the radio wouldn't work, but haven't seen that problem in a long time. I have the 12" infotainment and I've had issues of it flickering from bright to dim, during twilight hours. And worst of all, I have a 6 mile commute, mostly highway, I'm getting just 12.6mpg... I want an electric this time and considering a Mustang Mach E or a VW ID.4.. Which one would you choose?
Great video. I drove an 05 Ram in college and it fell apart quicker than any car I have ever driven. I am way too scared to trust them ever again. Toyota is so much more reliable.
Gee, my son bought an '05 Rumble Bee and had it for '98 to '18. Had 198,000 miles on it and then got a '16 EcoBoost with all the bells and whistles. Hint, he loves both and still has the '05 for fishing and hunting. Just doesn't put very many miles on it anymore and plans to restore. My daughter has a '03 SLT since '09 and loves it. I had seven since '97 and never had any major problems.
@@marcraymond7741 The engine may or may not have to work harder, but the turbos will. And turbos create heat, intercooler or not. Heat is the enemy of long engine life.
It's basically personal preference It's great we have so many manufacturers I rather have a king ranch ford but I don't have anything bad to say about other manufacturers.
Great review. The RAM surprises me because I'm in my 60's and still view Chrysler products as being very unreliable. Obviously, they have come a long way and deserve a look but for me Toyota reliability is the deciding factor. I have a Platinum Edition on order with the advanced package. I feel that it has the most bang for the buck of all the Tundra models. I never use my trucks off road or to tow anything, so tow hooks mean nothing to me. The lack of auto 4x4, and double pane glass is a disappointment I will say. I like a truck that looks pleasing to the eye and there I think the Tundra is miles ahead in looks. Purely a personal opinion I know but made my choice watching videos such as yours. Thank you for sharing.

Nice job. However this is all initial quality. If you’re just commuting, buy whatever. Overall, there is no question the tundra will work better, drive better and be way way more reliable. If the ram is smoother, ask why. How well behaved is the ram vs the tundra when towing 9000LBS…..? Finally, how many people leave driving a tundra to go with a RAM? And, how many leave RAM, buy a tundra and are disappointed? RAM is a light duty truck. Well, I suppose the new tundra has a lot to live up too, but there’s no question if I’m a betting man, TOYOTA will perform best over all.
Sorry to disappoint you, but Ram is the fastest-growing truck manufacturer. Must be why Ford is worried and copying them along with Toyota/GM and Nissan.
J.D.Power is just a paid advertising agency.. That's it. If you keep your vehicle forever and do all the maintenance yourself either truck will do. However, the Tundra is an overbuilt truck.add, quality, reliability and resale value the Tundra wins!
You touch on things noone else does and I appreciate that such as the paint and alignment of the body. I am always so scared of buying a "new design" vehicle such as the Tundra. I was burnt by Nissan in 2005 with the new Quest model. I'm sure Toyota would back things much better than Nissan North America did. They convinced me never to buy a new Nissan ever again. If the Tundra was available, I'd be driving one in the next week but I don't have time to wait months or even years to get one so will be getting a Ram Limited in the next week.
I, must admit, that Ram has been changing my mind lately about their trucks. I’m a current owner of a 2018 Tundra Crew Max Limited with the off-road package. I am going to hold out for the 2023 GMC Sierra AT4 but if I were to get rid of my Tundra…it would be between the Ram or the GMC. I really love the big crew cab of the Ram and that’s a big selling point to me!
The 2022 Toyota Tundra crewmax is basically the same size as the RAM 1500 crew cab. Most specs are exactly the same size, a few are less than 1 inch in difference. Then there a few that are a little bigger than the RAM 1500, for example leg room is just under an inch more for the Tundra. So the cabins are so similar in size that you could just say they are the same.
@@craptainofsea Head space in the back seat is in fact smaller. Height of the cabin interior went up by 1", but the rear seat sits 4" higher than the precious Gen to facilitate underseat storage/hybrid battery.
@john indries It's pretty clear you don't know how they measure the 'legroom' the actually difference is 0.75" in RAMs favor surprisingly. The legroom measurement is from the back of the seat line the track (front seat) to the further back point UNDER the seat. RAM has no electronics underneath the seat as such it can go much further back whereas Tundra has 5.5 Inch box of electronics at the bottom to support full rear window rolldown. Just consider for 3 seconds that they list these measurements in the 40s... the average person is 68"... You're not sitting in that back seat with your legs fully extended. What people actually care about is the front of the rear seat to the back of the front seat which for RAM is 21.25" and for Toyota is 20.5". Like I said they're within an inch. Toyota has slightly more in the front with a difference of 0.25", again within an inch. These trucks are very similar in size. Don't believe the marketing tactics as they're very sneaky. And just incase it wasn't clear, I'm a RAM fan boy even though I drive a Tundra. I just can't do the stupid little back window, I love the full rolldown window too much.
Ram still has not fixed the Cam shaft Lifter issues that have plagued the HEMI since introduction. Worse for the 6.4l because if it happens to the 6.4l it usually trashes the engine. That being said they have determined engines that idle long periods like contractors and Emergency responders has had the most issues. They still seem to be problem free until around 100-130k miles before the issues arise which is better than Ford and GM which have had much more engine issues with their latest models. If Ram would redesign the Hemi engine and fix that Camshaft damage risk it would be the best truck engine out there IMO.
The exterior styling of the Ram is very nice but slightly plain looking with simple rounded edges. I enjoy the aggressive lines and body edges of the Tundra much better.
Hi David, love your videos really good content thank you for sharing! I'm hoping you can help me with question. I put a $500 refundable deposit down towards Tundra trd pro iforce max. My dealer said the only colors I can choose is black, luner gray, white and orange color and that's it. Will they have other colors available for trd pro this year? I want it in the Magnetic Gray. To pay that much I want the truck I want not settle what they have available.
David the Powertrain “numbers” are not the driving experience, reliability or performance. Thank you for speaking to the “feeling.” Trucks are not purchased on paper. Toyota needs to get this through their head. They are going to destroy the 4 Runner with a small displacement motor. My 4 Runner gets worse gas mileage with a V6 than my neighbors new Tahoo V8. That’s just sad. If fuel efficiency is going to be a problem, they should at least perform.
I like the tundra but im so disappointed that the tundra didnt get tow hooks and that it didnt get a v8 option. And im not a fan of a quiet v6 twin turbo i want to hear that v8 sound.
The V8 could be gone in the Ram very soon as well. The Hemi V8s are being dropped next year in the Dodge Charger and Challenger. Possibly the 1500s also. Being replaced with an inline 6cylinder twin turbo
Great review bro, just one issue. You kept praising the Ram the entire time and at the last minute you pulled the rug from underneath us! Just about everything was built better in the Ram and then you chose the Tundra at the end???? I own a Ram and I can personally tell you this truck will do well over the next 10 years. Toyota was known for building reliable products, but that narrative has changed. Don’t be biased and give us your real opinion.
How did the narrative change? At this point in time, no one can say that about the new tundra. I bet you will point out a few hiccups they have had. I'm sure you will tell me that Ram never had issues, but please, we know the truth. Also he said the Ram had the electrical engine and gas. So he didn't compare apples to apples. Toyota hybrid rips the Ram with a V6 with power and torque. On a side note, I love the new Tundra. The next choice would be Ram.
Toyota in my area is dead..went to one dealer to try to order a Tundra.. they didn't act like they wanted to do it then they also wanted a 10.000$ up charge and had basically nothing on the lot. So after wasting a hour there I went to a bigger Toyota dealership a little farther away.. They wanted 500$ down and said that you could pick trim but color and options you couldn't pick .. lmao 🤣 a new 60k truck you can't pick color or options and wait the best part was they said it might be there in 6 months 🤣🤣🤣 ..I said I can't imagine that you are selling any trucks. They said people order and then keep cancelling.. I guess I'll have to get a new f 150. Toyota is completely a joke. Toyota should immediately take down there Tundra build option online..so people like me don't waste hours trying to pick out a truck just to go to the dealership and be told that you can't pick color or options..it just really makes Toyota look bad.
As much as I love Toyota, I also like the Ram 1500. So if I had the money to spend I would do it on a Ram 1500. Specially the one just viewed on this video. Awesome…

Just took delivery of a feb 2022 tundra sr5, endless problems... door lock failure on drivers side, floor behind passenger seat buckled still having it looked at, leaking passenger door seal from, rain, and just yesterday I got some random lights on dash ... taking it back soon... definitely want my money back.. should have just bought a gmc .. live n learn

I have no intention of buying the new Tundra and am shopping for a new RAM after twenty years of owning Toyota trucks all the way back to the T100. Hi David, love your videos and appreciate your knowledge. As a licensed automotive technician and also having taught automotive technology for almost 20 years i like to think that I’m pretty well versed in this subject. I agree with you on all your points. The only thing I’d like to add is that the longevity on the RAM will be know where close to the TUNDRA. Front end components such as steering linkages, wheel bearings, and all sorts of electric issues and water leaks are all issues that RAM continues to struggle with.

Some people are uninformed and full of bullshit. Do your research, Ram has been named the most reliable and has the largest percentage of loyal owners of all the truck brands. I should know since I owned 7 in the last 25 years. Very few issues and most were small.

I've had seven great Toyotas in my life and you could say all those things you mentioned about the Tundra with regard to every other Toyota I've had but my current one. After two Tundras in a row, I stepped back from pickups and bought a Highlander Platinum. This SUV has all the advances you pointed out in the RAM but is still a Toyota. I really am blown away by the Highlander and at the same time wondering how it is that Toyota can make this SUV as great as it is and on the other hand fall so far short in making the new Tundra. Thanks for this review of the very best looking and most feature packed truck on the market. Sorry for the Tundra.
I agree with your assessment also. I have a 2020 Ram and it is very nice. Toyota's I've had in the past were very reliable, but I'm concerned about the move to turbo's in the market. More parts and software tinkering with those and it makes working on them all the more expensive. I switched from the 2018 Ford due to the 10 speed transmission which IMO was junk (in the shop 4 times with never really being repaired). I wanted a transmission and engine that had been through years of refinement, not brand new designs especially in the first few years.
Co-worker had a '11 F-150 FX4 w/ Ecoboost motor. She had it in for the dealer to replace turbos three different times. Traded it in with less than 110,00 miles on it. She told me that she'll never buy another car/truck with a turbo engine again.
Unbiased clear review. I just traded my GX460 for a Gen 2 1794 Tundra actually, mostly due to the reliability issues of the 3rd gen, the as you say "busy" V6, and the supply chain issues ongoing. I'd like to see Toyota up its game here and bring back an efficient V8, it can be done, and make some improvements on their interiors to complete with a RAM.
Awesome video David. Both are great trucks. I have a 2022 Ram 1500 V6 eTorque. It has the best interior of any truck I’ve owned and the smoothest ride. The V6 eTorque is good for me because I don’t have any heavy towing or hauling to do.
I have money put down here in Alberta for a 1794 Tundra with the iforce max engine since I want to upsize and upgrade from my 2013 Tacoma. I’ve been working in industrial sites for years and it is a rare site to see a ram as a work truck. All I see are Fords, Chevy, GMC and the occasional Tundra. More fleets are now starting to get what ever they can get their hands on and that’s when I am now seeing some rams with fleet stickers. But I am still going to go with the tundra as I will be keeping it for the foreseeable future

I’m a tundra owner 2015 1794 edition 76000 miles and still going strong 5.7 . Once I see a review about the iforce max with 100,000 - 150,000 miles on the odometer, then I can determine if the new tundras are reliable

I would take Ram all day every day…. Ram has come along way in reliability. In the past they had a bad rap yes. Through experience they have greatly improved. Hopefully they continue to improve. The newest RAM's have seductively cushy interiors and a comfy ride, but the durability of the mechanical componets is the same now as it was 5, 10, 15 years ago - disasterously poor.
Main problem I have with the Tundra is that I could not find one to even test drive. I did find a RAM 1500 Limited and a Ford Lariat. I chose the RAM over the Ford for a few reasons. The Ford with the 3.5eb was more powerful and faster than the RAM but the sound was not good and it did feel busy. I really don't need a truck to go fast and the RAM is more than fast enough. The interior was much better finished in the RAM. The Ford was good but the RAM was much more classy. The ride of the RAM was better. It felt more planted on the road while the Ford seemed to be easily upset by small to moderate bumps. However the biggest factor was that the RAM dealer was $2K under the MSRP and the Ford dealer was $3K over MSRP. You should have seen the look on their face when I told them that I was unable to do business with a company that insisted on gouging their customers. I mean.....the RAM dealer still clearly made money on the deal but the Ford dealer got none of my money. Too bad that I couldn't even compare the Tundra. If Toyota really wants to gain market share they have got to up their production. Thanks for the video and you confirmed all of my conclusions. Oh and I don't really think there will be that much of a difference in reliability. I gave my son my 2009 RAM 1500 and he is still driving it with 260k miles. We have not had anything out of the ordinary break. I think that with regular maintenance and not much abuse most brands are pretty reliable these days.
People that trade off their new dodge/ford/Chevy every two of years or so will probably be happy with their brand. But people like me can’t afford new so we have to look at reliability and longevity. I’ll be making my decision about the 2022 Tundra in ten years from now.
RAM is the better truck for the money. Better interior better bespoke options. Only question is reliability, and we don’t know for sure how these new Toyota platforms compare to the older ones. Everyone is assuming that reliability will be the same. I would not bet against Toyota but I will say this: if you want to order a truck that is exactly as you want it, go domestic. With Toyota you get what’s allocated. And I’m not against Toyota and pro domestic. I think they make a great product.
If you price a RAM 1500 to have everything that a Tundra has you pay $3000+ more for the RAM, if you get into the higher models it's closer to $6000. You pay for that interior and it definitely isn't worth that much a price difference.
You forgot resale value as well. At least for the V8 Tundra models
I find it interesting that you think Ram is domestic since it is built in Mexico and only 58% of parts are manufactured in the US. Tundra I built in San Antonio and over 75% of its parts are made in US. Your logic is backwards

I've seen both comming to the dealership on tow trucks and left after that. Ima wait for toyota to fix the issues with the tundra.

Great video. I ordered a Tundra a month ago, hope to get it soon. My last two vehicles were Toyotas and I am sold on their quality, customer service and reliability and my research has not found anything else close to a Toyota.

This is exactly what I needed to see. Haven't been able to make up my mind. Test drove both and kinda like the RAM a little more. Something about the interior/ride quality. I think I will go with the Capstone/TRD Pro as it's slightly cheaper to buy and maintain than the limited 1500, gets almost equal performance and is better on fuel economy. There's also Toyota's proven reliability. Now to wait a few more months. Great video. Thanks. Will you do a Capstone vs TRD Pro at some point?
I bought the 2007 brand new off the lot. Best 34k I've ever spent. It's 4x4 5.7 SR5 with 282k, runs great. I live way up north in the snow/salt roads. The nearest car wash is 30 miles away. So, I hooked up the hot water heater to the outside hose. Works great. Hardly no rust on truck.
Toyota reliability has taken a serious drop with this Tundra. Consumer Reports ranks Toyota 9th in quality last time I checked about a month ago.
I had a 2008 Tundra. That generation and this latest generation (2022) of Tundra have little in common. It's not just the turbo issues in 2022, but axle issues and low quality build in both exterior and interior. My 2008 was the best and I wish I still had it. I will avoid the new Tundra till Toyota gets it right. Toyota just seems to be trying to put a muzzle on the problems rather than fixing the problems. Disappointing. It was such a good truck.

Like the comparison but like you said reliability is a big for me. I’m in the construction business and most of my coworkers have huge problems with the Ram trucks. Yes agree they are very luxurious inside but they are always in the shop and that’s what I hear out on the construction sites. I usually see more Chevy and Fords of late and a few Tundras so far.

You're in luck, they are replacing the V8s with the new GME-T6. It's an in-line turbo-driven 6 with horsepower around 500HP and torque at close to 600ft/lbs. 😄
Great and honest review. I agree 100% whit what you are saying. I’ve owned several Dodge products in the past and now a faithful Toyota & Lexus customer. At the end of the day, I would buy the Tundra, for what I value the most: reliability and low cost of ownership.
Good luck with the strength of build. My wife owned an '07 Tundra and it rode like a buckboard. She traded it in for a new 4-runner in '18 and had it for about 3 months. Ended up hitting a 16" concrete ditch drain in a small 2' deep ditch of a property owner's driveway. She hit at less than 20 MPH and the only visible damage was the driver's side wheel was moved back a few inches. She hit it at such a slow speed that the airbags didn't deploy. Claims rep. wanted to send it to a local body shop and give her $2800. I requested that it go to the dealer we bought it from. They had it for two weeks and determined it totaled. We got her a GMC Sierra SLT and even though they had to replace the entertainment center after one year and it took them two years and four different visits and another dealer along with three new batteries to fix a slow battery drain. She still loves it and will not ever buy another Toyota.
I'm not a Ram guy, but any of the big 3 are years a head of the Tundra. Always have been and the sales figures reflect that. Tundra has always been a distant 4th place. And now a V6 as the only option. Bolt a turbo on an engine and you're forcing it to be something it's not. Reliability and longevity suffer. Tundra has come along way, but it's got a long way to go to seriously compete.
You say that, but two of the big three sell to fleet. On a half-ton pickup you would be hard pressed to find a pickup with more hp and torque when comparing them to the tundra hybrid. I'm sure you will say they can have a higher payload and tow more. Normally that comes to HD trucks (so not half-tons), certain truck configurations. Yes you can get more power specced a certain way, but on average with half-tons when compared apples to apples, the Trundra is a great truck. Also problems with turbos are normally aftermarket slap-ons. Cars built with turbos in mind have better longevity. No mechanical devices are full proof.
I just traded in my 2018 Tacoma TRD Off-Road long bed for a Ram 1500 Night Edition Off-Road with the 6'4" bed. This video played a major part in the decision. The other major player in the decision is that there are no Tundras available right now, where I live. Maybe I will get one in a few years.

Keep in mind, only 1 of these companies had to change their branding (name) in an attempt to escape their reputation of selling terrible quality vehicles.
That alone keeps me from buying one until another decade proves out the current design reliability.

I've had a 1500 Chevy for 20 years. Not many problems. Love the interior space in the dodge plus I'm a V8 kinda guy. It's the dodge for my next pickup. Been looking at imports and domestic over the last two years. Dodge ram 1500 is my choice.
I agree with everything you said. I think short term the F150 and Ram is a better choice with more options and tech. If you’re looking at overall value and long term I believe the Tundra would be the right choice. Less expensive up front and less overall cost of ownership and better resale value.

I think history is turned on its head with many vehicle related pricing trends. I don't see why a Tundra would have better resale value than Ram or any other truck when the model years features are lacking. Historically, the parity between trucks is not the same. Disagree with the conclusions in this regard.

The v8 was something else but the new twin turbo v6 pretty much outperforms it in almost every way imaginable including power and efficiency. I was skeptical as first but now I totally get why Toyota did away with the V8. If anything, I’m disappointed they didn’t go this route years ago

Glad I found this video. Thanks for providing an unbiased opinion. I also appreciate many of the comments. I have a ‘22 Tundra (will be a ‘23) on order and was considering the Ram. Consumer Reports rates both as average reliability. I’ve only owned one Chrysler product over 20 years ago and it was such a bad experience, I’ve never considered Chrysler again, until recently with the ‘22 Ram! My gut feeling is that the Tundra would be the better choice for long term reliability, but this sitting around and waiting for a truck is very frustrating!

4WD auto is a really nice feature to have. I used it a lot when I had it. I’ve had both newer models and the ram is very comfortable and very quiet inside plus the sound system sounds years better then the tundra. Except I did have to fix a bunch of stuff In the ram.pick your poison

Love my 2022 ram eco diesel iam getting over 30 miles per gallon on the ram bighorn. It drives nice and smooth with lots of power and plenty of space.I test drove the tundra but Ram was far better in everything.
This was a great review. I personally own a 2019 Limited 4x4 with 48K miles. Its held up pretty well in the 3 years I’ve had it but if i was buying a truck for 10+ years it would be a Tundra.
Sorry readers I have a 2013 ram 1500 with 138000 miles this month marks 9 years of ownership & the only issue with water pump 2 years ago & last year radiator.This Ram 1500 is a Laramie with the Ramboxes tow package so people stop hating love this truck.
Limited is my choice. I have a hard time warming up to the Tundra styling. What's with that grill treatment? I have owned Toyota before. Nicley built, but they are not immune to problems unlike represented here. I had a cam shaft go bad just out of warranty but a heartfelt plea to Toyota Corporate got it repaired for nothing out of my pocket other than inconvenience. My brother had two Toyota trucks that had terrible frame rot. In summary, every make and model can have issues. I am retired, and when I spend this kind of money for a cruiser truck and want quiet comfort and luxury the Ram 1500 Limited cannot be beat today.
That is personal perspective. Nothing is immune to problems. All manufacturers have issues. Also it's the way the person takes care of their car after purchase that contributes to how great of longevity a vehicle has. Environmental conditions too.
David, I find your videos informative and you very articulate. I will buy a new pickup in 2023 hoping prices will come down a bit. I have a 2014 ram 1500 which at about 6 years old I had issues with the air suspension. Nothing is more important to me than long-term reliability. I'm leaning toward a Tundra in hopes that it will live up to toyota's reliability and durability standard. Thanks again and keep up the great videos.

I agree 100% with you; for short term ownership opt for the Ram, for long term dependable ownership opt for the Tundra. The twin turbo V6 Tundra hasn't proved itself, but wearing that 'TOYOTA' emblem is a true confidence booster. Toyota's reputation for durability is 'tried and true'!

Very nice review. Really appreciated the upfront honest opinion to determine the best of the best. It always comes down to who's going to be 1st or 2nd in an very demanding Automotive industry. Sure RAM and Toyota have their strengths and weaknesses but are they able to improve in short and long term? I only have 2 key points to make. For Toyota, that ugly front face is very similar to Chevy's or GM truck "Butt Ugly" front end. For RAM, long term quality of the a few components but they have improved a lot over the years. Now that all manufacturers have displayed their product, what's next in the new chapter of EV"s pickup trucks and who will come out on top on the next round of reviews?
Once you have to say I can always listen to somebody and take their advice when they're not biased and they're honest he is one honest person I will pick the tundra all day

@@sanfordalston4466 Several years back Ford had a video of the Tundra going down RR tracts and it shaked badly. The reason is the way they built the frame, while Ram and Ford had come out with fully boxed frames, Toyota made it into 3 sections. The flex of their frames were ridicules.

I bought a 2021 Ram and was a little sad initially I didn’t wait for a new Tundra, not so much anymore. I love my Ram and feel better about the reliability being I have just the regular 5.7 hemi without Etorque.

Great review especially the exterior-have been a mopar guy all my life literally. Yet I have been lucky the only issue I had with the dodge/ram was gen 3 and it was under warranty-I haul and tow sometimes. Also maybe it's the American in me love a V-8. 4th gen Ram no issues and rode it into the ground-finally got the 5th gen and it's not the top of the line-it need not be yet has worked very well and as all things man-made we will see. But Toyota's still look dated for me and those extra 2 gears not sure if they are need but then again the V-6 has improved over the years. Ultimately a person will buy what they want.

Just watched TFL Ike Gauntlet tow challenge video with the Big Horn Ram and the Limited Tundra. Guess what the Ram won both in better towing MPG and overall quality. So the good old Hemi beats the turbo V6 in the F-150 and Tundra. Also, they said the prices were comparable at around $57,000 Just like David said the Ram had a nicer interior.
I've had a brand new Chevy 1500 for 20 years. Not many problems. Dodge looks impressive. Love the interior space and I'm a V8 kinda man
I have been leasing a 2019 RAM Rebel. Mechanically its been good. Complaints, cracks have started on edge of drivers seat at 1 year old. I can't get the air temperature mix right, either too hot or too cold. I have had times when the radio wouldn't work, but haven't seen that problem in a long time. I have the 12" infotainment and I've had issues of it flickering from bright to dim, during twilight hours. And worst of all, I have a 6 mile commute, mostly highway, I'm getting just 12.6mpg...
I want an electric this time and considering a Mustang Mach E or a VW ID.4.. Which one would you choose?

Great video. I drove an 05 Ram in college and it fell apart quicker than any car I have ever driven. I am way too scared to trust them ever again. Toyota is so much more reliable.
Gee, my son bought an '05 Rumble Bee and had it for '98 to '18. Had 198,000 miles on it and then got a '16 EcoBoost with all the bells and whistles. Hint, he loves both and still has the '05 for fishing and hunting. Just doesn't put very many miles on it anymore and plans to restore. My daughter has a '03 SLT since '09 and loves it. I had seven since '97 and never had any major problems.

Hello David just want to say I love your reviews but do you have anything coming out for the Sierra or Silverado
David, as an auto engineer could you comment on whether the twin turbo V-6 engine will have to "work harder" during its lifetime compared to a V-8?
I am interested to hear David on that. I’d say for sure your waller works harder to keep this gas tank full on the V8 then for the 3.4 TT.😁
@@marcraymond7741 The engine may or may not have to work harder, but the turbos will. And turbos create heat, intercooler or not. Heat is the enemy of long engine life.
It's basically personal preference It's great we have so many manufacturers I rather have a king ranch ford but I don't have anything bad to say about other manufacturers.
Great review. The RAM surprises me because I'm in my 60's and still view Chrysler products as being very unreliable. Obviously, they have come a long way and deserve a look but for me Toyota reliability is the deciding factor. I have a Platinum Edition on order with the advanced package. I feel that it has the most bang for the buck of all the Tundra models. I never use my trucks off road or to tow anything, so tow hooks mean nothing to me. The lack of auto 4x4, and double pane glass is a disappointment I will say. I like a truck that looks pleasing to the eye and there I think the Tundra is miles ahead in looks. Purely a personal opinion I know but made my choice watching videos such as yours. Thank you for sharing.
reliability has been one of the downsides for the tundra so far, probably the worst of the pick-ups right now.

Nice job. However this is all initial quality. If you’re just commuting, buy whatever. Overall, there is no question the tundra will work better, drive better and be way way more reliable. If the ram is smoother, ask why. How well behaved is the ram vs the tundra when towing 9000LBS…..?
Finally, how many people leave driving a tundra to go with a RAM? And, how many leave RAM, buy a tundra and are disappointed? RAM is a light duty truck. Well, I suppose the new tundra has a lot to live up too, but there’s no question if I’m a betting man, TOYOTA will perform best over all.
Sorry to disappoint you, but Ram is the fastest-growing truck manufacturer. Must be why Ford is worried and copying them along with Toyota/GM and Nissan.
J.D.Power is just a paid advertising agency.. That's it. If you keep your vehicle forever and do all the maintenance yourself either truck will do. However, the Tundra is an overbuilt truck.add, quality, reliability and resale value the Tundra wins!
You touch on things noone else does and I appreciate that such as the paint and alignment of the body. I am always so scared of buying a "new design" vehicle such as the Tundra. I was burnt by Nissan in 2005 with the new Quest model. I'm sure Toyota would back things much better than Nissan North America did. They convinced me never to buy a new Nissan ever again. If the Tundra was available, I'd be driving one in the next week but I don't have time to wait months or even years to get one so will be getting a Ram Limited in the next week.
I, must admit, that Ram has been changing my mind lately about their trucks. I’m a current owner of a 2018 Tundra Crew Max Limited with the off-road package. I am going to hold out for the 2023 GMC Sierra AT4 but if I were to get rid of my Tundra…it would be between the Ram or the GMC. I really love the big crew cab of the Ram and that’s a big selling point to me!
The 2022 Toyota Tundra crewmax is basically the same size as the RAM 1500 crew cab. Most specs are exactly the same size, a few are less than 1 inch in difference. Then there a few that are a little bigger than the RAM 1500, for example leg room is just under an inch more for the Tundra. So the cabins are so similar in size that you could just say they are the same.
@@craptainofsea Head space in the back seat is in fact smaller. Height of the cabin interior went up by 1", but the rear seat sits 4" higher than the precious Gen to facilitate underseat storage/hybrid battery.

@john indries It's pretty clear you don't know how they measure the 'legroom' the actually difference is 0.75" in RAMs favor surprisingly. The legroom measurement is from the back of the seat line the track (front seat) to the further back point UNDER the seat. RAM has no electronics underneath the seat as such it can go much further back whereas Tundra has 5.5 Inch box of electronics at the bottom to support full rear window rolldown.
Just consider for 3 seconds that they list these measurements in the 40s... the average person is 68"... You're not sitting in that back seat with your legs fully extended. What people actually care about is the front of the rear seat to the back of the front seat which for RAM is 21.25" and for Toyota is 20.5". Like I said they're within an inch. Toyota has slightly more in the front with a difference of 0.25", again within an inch. These trucks are very similar in size. Don't believe the marketing tactics as they're very sneaky. And just incase it wasn't clear, I'm a RAM fan boy even though I drive a Tundra. I just can't do the stupid little back window, I love the full rolldown window too much.
Have u noticed problems with door gaskets in the tundra? Also the headlight has a gap between it and the frame. Tundra has quality issues…
Ram still has not fixed the Cam shaft Lifter issues that have plagued the HEMI since introduction. Worse for the 6.4l because if it happens to the 6.4l it usually trashes the engine. That being said they have determined engines that idle long periods like contractors and Emergency responders has had the most issues. They still seem to be problem free until around 100-130k miles before the issues arise which is better than Ford and GM which have had much more engine issues with their latest models. If Ram would redesign the Hemi engine and fix that Camshaft damage risk it would be the best truck engine out there IMO.
The exterior styling of the Ram is very nice but slightly plain looking with simple rounded edges. I enjoy the aggressive lines and body edges of the Tundra much better.
Even with the Godzilla front grill and missing tow hooks? 😄
Hi David, love your videos really good content thank you for sharing! I'm hoping you can help me with question. I put a $500 refundable deposit down towards Tundra trd pro iforce max. My dealer said the only colors I can choose is black, luner gray, white and orange color and that's it. Will they have other colors available for trd pro this year? I want it in the Magnetic Gray. To pay that much I want the truck I want not settle what they have available.
Definetly I prefers the Ram 1500 nice truck is my favorite! I would love to have in V8 Diesel.
David the Powertrain “numbers” are not the driving experience, reliability or performance. Thank you for speaking to the “feeling.” Trucks are not purchased on paper. Toyota needs to get this through their head. They are going to destroy the 4 Runner with a small displacement motor. My 4 Runner gets worse gas mileage with a V6 than my neighbors new Tahoo V8. That’s just sad. If fuel efficiency is going to be a problem, they should at least perform.
I like the tundra but im so disappointed that the tundra didnt get tow hooks and that it didnt get a v8 option. And im not a fan of a quiet v6 twin turbo i want to hear that v8 sound.
The V8 could be gone in the Ram very soon as well. The Hemi V8s are being dropped next year in the Dodge Charger and Challenger. Possibly the 1500s also. Being replaced with an inline 6cylinder twin turbo
Great review bro, just one issue. You kept praising the Ram the entire time and at the last minute you pulled the rug from underneath us! Just about everything was built better in the Ram and then you chose the Tundra at the end???? I own a Ram and I can personally tell you this truck will do well over the next 10 years. Toyota was known for building reliable products, but that narrative has changed. Don’t be biased and give us your real opinion.
How did the narrative change? At this point in time, no one can say that about the new tundra. I bet you will point out a few hiccups they have had. I'm sure you will tell me that Ram never had issues, but please, we know the truth. Also he said the Ram had the electrical engine and gas. So he didn't compare apples to apples. Toyota hybrid rips the Ram with a V6 with power and torque.
On a side note, I love the new Tundra. The next choice would be Ram.

Toyota in my area is dead..went to one dealer to try to order a Tundra.. they didn't act like they wanted to do it then they also wanted a 10.000$ up charge and had basically nothing on the lot. So after wasting a hour there I went to a bigger Toyota dealership a little farther away.. They wanted 500$ down and said that you could pick trim but color and options you couldn't pick .. lmao 🤣 a new 60k truck you can't pick color or options and wait the best part was they said it might be there in 6 months 🤣🤣🤣 ..I said I can't imagine that you are selling any trucks. They said people order and then keep cancelling.. I guess I'll have to get a new f 150. Toyota is completely a joke. Toyota should immediately take down there Tundra build option online..so people like me don't waste hours trying to pick out a truck just to go to the dealership and be told that you can't pick color or options..it just really makes Toyota look bad.
As much as I love Toyota, I also like the Ram 1500. So if I had the money to spend I would do it on a Ram 1500. Specially the one just viewed on this video. Awesome…
My 2000 Ram 1500 is still going strong and rides smooth with 350k
