- TMNT 2007 has been coined an "Underrated Masterpiece" in Modern times but I feel a lot of people ignore 1 glaring issue & it happens to be with the Blue Bandana Katana wielding Leader of the group Leonardo. I feel Nostalgia has blinded so many they ignore this part of the story & While I love the Training scenes we got to to see with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles I wanted to take my hand at fixing this character.
In this video, we're looking at how many calories Spider-man burns in a day. From jumping to swinging to hanging from webs, Spider-man burns a lot of calories!

@@shadowdramon01 immaculate choice
Always 2003 Leo supremacy
2012 Leo.
2018 Leo
Leo going himself to catch the Nightwatcher and prove something is definitely something he would do but it also comes back to my main gripe with this entire movie: WHY would you send a LEADER away from his TEAM to learn to lead a TEAM better?!
How to be a better leader: Just don't
Iir he left to mainly perfect his skills, the reason why he left is expanded on in the video game version
My biggest issue with the setup they chose, but maybe its a way to test his skills alone?
@AllFather I see that, but to me it also makes no sense because it's on obvious weak spot to have only one turtle be super advanced. They all should be roughly the same in terms of skill, just with different skillsets to be a well rounded team
@@melody4444441 not saying it does but ig because he's the leader his skillset has to be more impressive than his brothers I guess
My favorite Leo is 2012. They managed to balance a competent leader and a goofy teenager without overstepping over the other and gave him realistic flaws within his situation.
yeah he's my 2nd favorite For sure.
@@tortugadave8765. What's the first?
@@erikbihari3625 03 Leo, partly becuase he's OP as hell but also they gave him flaws like his guilt over the events of Exodus 1-2, a certain cockiness to him and his willingness to not only listen to his brothers but learn from them. He isn't as well rounded as 2012, but considering how much of a pushover he was from the 1987 toon 03Leo is badass.
@@tortugadave8765 agreed. Even though I grew up with 2012 Leo, 2003 Leo is SO cool! He’s definitely my second favourite iteration, (2012 is first), but a very CLOSE second.
2012 leo is more teenager then 2003 leo is like teenager near young adult...2012 leo is pretty cute and funny
The part I always found strange was that Casey recognized him because he looked like "a big metal turtle" and Leo couldn't until he knocked his helmet off.
🤣🤣🤣
This movie is just inconsistent.
Either that or Casey is just smarter than Leo.
Or Casey is normal and Leo is actually dumb.
Either way, that simple line implies that there’s a difference of intelligence between the two characters if one could figure it out from a glance and the other couldn’t.
Casey literally said “it wasn’t that hard.”
Something that “wasn’t that hard” to figure out for Casey completely fooled Leo lmao
That was a deleted scene where Casey didn’t recognise Raph at first which could have served as foreshadowing, but they cut the scene down. In fact, a lot of scenes ended up being deleted or shortened, even though they could have helped the story along and give more development to other characters (Mikey in particular).
I find it funny how Casey (2007 version) has the voice of Buzz Lightyear (and Captain America) and Leo has the flanderized/self-inflated personality of that human version!
@@tompotter8703 imo I think the deleted scenes led to mishap in the movie with leo
The main reason I loved this film as a kid even when I didn't get the story, was their designs it looked so badass and that fight between Leo and Raph wow.. **chef's kiss**
me too it's so epic
And the PS2 game.
Leo fix:
Honestly I kinda wished this movie explored a bit more of those darker themes. Showing how much Leo was changed by his year away from his friends and family so when he returns he really shows that discipline and seriousness he gained from dealing with the horrible people in Costa Rica. Perhaps adding that child trafficking or something similar to that being used at the end of the fight with Raph when he actually talks about why he stayed away for an entire year and maybe even how helpless he felt without his brothers with him. Then on the flip side showing how fed up Raph was with sitting around and doing nothing, watching the streets get worse and worse to the point where he felt like he HAD to be out there. Have their egos clash but in the end have them relate to wanting to do good and help others like they were trained to do.
Oh as a quick movie fix I guess? Just delete the 13 monsters and stone statues. It was a weird parallel that they tried to do between both families which ultimately didn't work. So either remove them both and have the conflict be like the Purple Dragon gang fighting other gangs for territory or bring back Winters and make him a full on bad guy that is tryin to use Apirl and her research about the planets alignment to summon 13 monsters to help him rule the world.
I loved this movie as a kid and had nothing but good memories of it as a kid, and I never doubted that Leo was in the right. Rewatching it as an adult, I literally had a moment where I was like "Actually? Raph was right the entire time, wth was I on about??"
Yeah me too
I knew that because Leo is feeling his way too high and mighty here. Full of himself indeed. He tried to stop the night watcher because someone taking over protecting the city image if that.was Casey Jones. Hypocrite
This movie feels like Leo and Raph: The Movie and the rest of them are special guests. And the dynamic between them is just a mashup of the worst feelings Leo and Raph could have towards each other with not NEARLY enough context or reason for them to be that way.
Just like how dragonball super was the goku and vegeta show, i do wish it was a movie about all of them
LEGIT FACTSS
@@jayceallen6530 it’s alright. It’s the past. I still like the movie tho.
Well it was suppose to be apart of a trilogy. Something we never got 🗿
You're absolutely right man! Let's not also forget Donnie and Mike are barely in the movie
I can definitely agree here. Leo was unnecessarily aggressive towards vigilantes, and apparently forgetting he and his brothers ARE vigilantes. My main love for this movie is the fight scenes, I just love how well they’re choreographed and this might just be my nostalgia hitting me, but I loved the designs of the villains more than I liked their personalities. I knew the moment we saw them get revived on screen that betrayal was coming
Yeah I agree if Raph was being overly aggressive and was beating people to an inch of their lives. I can understand Leonardo being "Hey buddy, appreciate what you doing but you're going to far and you to stop". Maybe have it that Leonardo unknowingly start saying some things about how the Nightwatcher runs things that begins to trigger Raph to point to he starts the fight. Both turtles now how a point in this fight Raph to prove his way while being brutal get's results, while Leo's is to prove that this madman (not knowing it's Raph) is not what the city needs but them and Casey instead which keeps the ego thing around.
That ironic consider Leo killed the first guy in the beginning of the movie so that does not add up. I think tmnt 2007 takes more in tmnt 2003 and mirage comics consider they killed shredde
Leo fix, 2012, reason: he acts a lot more like a teenager than the other iterations of him
I haven't finished Rise of TMNT, but I liked that they had Leo be a jokey guy to hide his insecurities and not yet having "a thing". Where Mikey was the cool jokester, Donnie was the Smarts and Ralph was the Muscle, then there's Leo who doesn't have anything to set himself apart.
It's frustrating to him and maybe the audience to see him being so nonchalant in the face of danger and pretending he's got it all figured out. Then eventually he learns that he's got something that makes him unique and a leader
Rise Leo is a very refreshing take of him! Rise, honestly had SO MUCH potential for character arcs but it was cancelled, so S2 was rushed out and te movie tries to give him his growth the only way Leos ever do: trauma.
just wait till you get to the movie.
Bit too much of a change imo.
And this is why we need more Rise, to really see how the events of the movie changed him and help him be a better leader.
LeoFix: I don’t really mind 2003 Leo personally but I’ll always love 2012 Leo for how he was more of a teenager than his previous versions and the fact he wanted to be like the heroes he watched on TV really gave him that nice relatability
My favourite is rise Leo
He's so complicated, with all his charismatic facade and tons of insecurities underneath, while also being openly loving and compassionate (he always supports his brothers and encorages them, feels bad about Bullhop etc)
Leo was always my favourite character, in almost every version (well, Raph is my favourite in 87), but rise one is just THAT good :D
As a younger sibling, I have always been able to recognize that Leo’s main problem in most universes is that his entire personality revolves around First Born Stndrome.
He simply cannot understand that being the leader and the oldest does not make him universally right and no one actually left him in charge of anything other than what he was directly told he was in charge of.
Why I like the rooftop fight scene so much isn’t necessarily the Leo Vs Nightwatcher part of it, but rather the Leo Vs Raphael part of it. When Leo finds out that the vigilante he’s been trying to take down is actually his brother, he gets a mixed range of emotions. He says that if Raph were to get caught by the authorities then his family would’ve been discovered, but I think Leo was just offended by Raph’s disobedience. While Raph, who claims that everything was better than ever when Leo wasn’t around, deep down inside really just missed his brother. He just didn’t want to admit it. I do think that this scene could’ve been so much better if there were changes with the Nightwatcher and Leo’s perspective on him. Like if they made the changes you suggested, then when Leo finds out that the Nightwatcher, the vigilante he thought replaced his brothers, is actually his brother fighting crime without them, it would show to Leo how distant Raph has really fallen from his family and really show how much apathy it appears he has for them (even if his actions don’t necessarily reflect his feelings).
Nah raph was in the right and leo become so distance from all thing over a year that he gets jelly of another person protecting the city image if that was Casey and he still try to stop himm
I 💚 the 2014/2016 rendition of Leo because of how focused and determined he was in saving not only his brothers and father and April, but saving the entirety of New York itself.
He ended up being a bit of a chump too though for hiding the truth about the purple ooze from Raph and Mikey though.
The emotional part for me in this film is Splinter saying “We should do this more often!” Hearing that, knowing this was Mako’s last role, along with Uncle Iroh, always hits hard.
As for the Leo Fix, this version is my least favorite Leo. I adore that character but they fell short for a lot of the reasons you touched on. I remember the pathos of the first film. That string of somber moments and narration while we watch the brothers fall back and ache is hard to match
I’m the first to admit I’ve fallen out of the loop on the Turtles but I usually come back to the first film and some of the comics as my favorite Leo. Now, Donny as an exasperated tech support tech- PERF.
I think the reason leo is so hypocritical of the night watcher is because of how far gone he had become without his brothers. He lost himself out there as well as failed and now hes trying to keep his brothers from going down the same path. He’s projecting his own self hate onto the nightwatcher. At least thats my thoughts.
I agree it makes more sense Leo has a lot of self hate and it makes sense he would take it out on someone else I just wish they made it more apparent so people could get that idea but they failed
As the oldest brother of three, I have always appreciated the way 2012 portrayed sibling dynamics at that age (15-19, I think it ended with them at that age). I also saw a lot of myself in this Leo more than the other versions.
I always loved and will prefer the 2003 Leo because he tried to BE Master Splinter, rather than taking the lessons and apply them as he best sees them. Of course, he’s a teen and teens tend to rebel against their parents.
This Leo was definitely trying to pretend like he was still top without expecting that things change. Raph still shows his anger when he nearly killed Leo when they fought but yeah, Leo’s ego is something he always has to fight.
#LeoFix
Leo fix. 2012 was my favorite. He was a good leader, that made many mistakes, and learned to be better not only for the team... but for himself. I think the fact that he was open to being not good enough for his own expectations instead of only fearing the teams really resonated with me. Plus the scene when he gets brutalized by Shredder after going through all those enemies, and the screen shatters Foreshadowing his shattered confidence as well as shattered bone, was just expertly done. I wish the process of him overcoming that wasn't linked to so much filler (although as a horror fan I loved the monster of the week) but still it killed me to see him become humbled by his own ego to a detrimental degree. Having to overcome his own mental fragility to become like the heroes we watched with him on his TV was just empowering for me on a deep and personal level that no other iteration has accomplished.
I've always thought it'd be cool if all 3 of them were the nightwatcher; like they all kinda take turns. Then, when Leo finds out, he can get all upset that his brothers are an okay team without him. But in the end, they teach him that he's more than just their leader, he's their brother, and he has inherent value and doesn't need to earn his place.
Loved this movie. I kind of had the same feeling about Leo as I rewatch this many
times. And it makes sense on why he acted like that. The rooftop fight is the best fight, especially when it was raining.
I tried to make it make sense when I kept rewatching it but it just dont cause A) It literally is not built up and comes outta nowhere & timestamped to make sure I didnt miss anything & B) He's Already friends with Casey Jones at this point, The Teacher of class Pain 101 with criminals & like all of yall are vigilantes so I wish they wouldve built up that more rather than it feeling like they cut a scene out loll
@@JaxBlade I agree bro. And the game is a lot better than the movie.
I'll be honest, Rise Leo is my favourite variation of the character. It's such a creative choice to go with a goofy, arrogant but strangely emotional version. Not to mention he is the most powerful version of Leo of all time, including the dragon one from '03.
Agreed. Rise Leo is best Leo.
@@superstarultra28 THANK you
Rise Leo is GOATED
Yes Thank you 🙏
That not Leo the show was just wearing tmt as skin its not creative if you just change another character that you didn’t create personality
Leo did make a lot of good points on how Raph wasn't ready but that last one of Him being better then Raph, that was totally uncalled for and it made me side with Raph a bit. I mean Raph has to live in Leo's shadow when all he wants is independence and to prove he doesn't need to be "Babysat" by his big brother anymore. That's what was Raph's beef. Leo had it wrong. All that time away to be a "better leader" and he learned barely anything. The best thing a Leader can do is to let go of his responsibility as Eldest brother and let his brothers become independent. He did the exact opposite and kept his brothers by his side like a leash and that's why Raph became the Nightwatcher, to show he is capable of protecting the city.
To me, I have always just ignored the reveal scene. Because throughout the movie it seemed like Splinter and Leo, knew that Ralph is the Night Watcher. Leo finds the Night Watcher after Splinter tells him to go look for Ralph. And even at the start of the movie Leo asks “What does he do at night then?“.
But in the end, your argument still stand perfectly fine, since mine rely on deleting a scene
My favorite version of Leo is probably Batman Vs. TMNT Leo. Might be an unpopular opinion, but I don't know. Eric Bauza plays him amazingly, and I love that the movie shows he'd go to hell and back for his brothers. Even having his greatest fear being him losing them. The conflict Leo overcomes in the film with his blinding anger to protect his brothers is something I appreciate, and hope to see more of in later iterations of the turtles.
that leo is basically 2003 leo
@M if Batman vs TMNT Leo didn't exist, 2003 would def be my favorite
Has 2003 Leo kicked anyone in the nuts? Don't think so
@@THATRANDOMDUDE99999
I mean that’s what he reminded me of heavily his look and character is almost identical to 2003 leo even the same fears and everything so his fear of losing his brothers wasn’t all that special but It works
2012 and 2003 leo are still the best iterations of him imo, though his rise character design with the black ninja ties is my favorite leo design.
Rise does have a pretty sick design!
My two favorite Leos are 2003 and rise. For 2003 I just love the growth he goes to and him getting depression and having to go through it. As for rise Leo I just think he’s super entertaining and his character arc is so unique to me bc of how they show it especially in the movie.
I grew up on the 2003 turtles and that Leo was and still is, to me, the most badass of all the incarnations. But, the 2018 version might be my favorite. It's the only one where his personality isn't just "Leader." He actually acts like a teenager and similar to his brothers. All other versions, you would think he was adopted into the adopted family!
As a kid, I really never understood very well the reason why Leo was so mad with Raph, the only reason I thought was because he was worried about him doing it alone but still I didn't get it very well.
Leo fix, I get what you're saying about Leo. I always liked, not loved, that movie; I always thought Leo was jumping the gun with that accusation but didn't even consider that he was killing people at the start. Maybe his meeting with April and coming back home "woke him up", so he saw that as wrong. But Raph was basically going full on Spiderman with his foes, even webbing them up with chains lol. I've always felt for Leo and Raph. They internalize a lot differently. My fav Leo is from the 2003 cartoon, but he's usually done really well.
Man, im glad you made this video! Tbh? I’ve always felt weirded out by how they made Leo in the movie as this egotistic ninja who felt like he was the better one. Now granted thats a really good story beat to go down on, showing how big Leo’s ego truly is being the leader, but in the end I just found myself clicking with the other turtles instead of Leo. He’s my favorite turtle! And don’t get me started on how emotional the acting was on the rooftop and the fighting, but like you said, the problem stems from how we came to this plot point. I love your videos every-time you post them Jax, keep doing what your doing! “Leo Fix”
#LEO FIX The coolest parts of this movie was the choreography, Raph's nightwatcher suit and the Shellshocked song at the end. Also Karai, always Karai.
I've only seen the 80's and 2003 turtles personally, but the 2003 Leo is rad in my opinion. He's given enough time to learn how to humble himself, work well with his brothers and confide in them. Also, the dude was real smart and badass .
Leo Fix : my fav is 2012, always. He's such a dork lmao and I love how he tries so hard to pull cool one liners it's adorable
My theory is that Leo is scared for the guy.We all know Leo is a compassionate person .He just wants to make sure he was safe so he couldn't get hurt
Leo had an ego, Raph had an attitude problem. There was only one way to resolve their issue. Sometimes emotional issues gotta end in such a manner.
maybe if Raph ( Night Watcher ) was a lot more aggressive while beating up bad guys i would understand why Leo would not like the Night Watcher and would go to confront him.
LITERALLY WHAT IM SAYIN! While Leo goin MORTAL KOMBAT on some criminals loll
@@JaxBlade heck yeah
Leo fix, favorite version of Leo is 2003 partly cause I grew up with that generation of tmnt but also enjoyed his character arcs he goes through and how each one affects him and everyone else in each season,
On a side note definitely agree the game is better write and people are acknowledging its existence, also the writing you suggest would make that fight much more meaningful and make the film much more memorable. TMNT franchise is still the goat
As someone who seen the 2007 movie only recently, I think the biggest issue with the film is that it feels like season two of a good show.
I get this might be a sequel to the live action movies but we don’t know what really breaks the family apart so it’s hard to know what drives the beef with each other or how the tmnt even operated normally before they separated.
I feel like this would've been great as a show. Much more fleshed out.
I agree, this film didn't explain why the family fell apart at the beginning. Throughout the film, they didn't even mention how did it happened. If there was an incident that caused this to happened. All we get was that Leo went away after Shredder was defeated and that's it.
Just so you know this movie takes place continue to the tmnt 2003 with this tmnt 2007 . Just watch the series it connect to this. Who said it's connected to that tmnt 1990 movie LMFAO when shredder there looks hella cheap looking and turtles was too goofy. And secondly tmnt 2007 has. Shown shredder looking like his tmnt 2007 let alone a tie in movie game of tmnt 2007 shows shredder literally is tmnt 2003 and add that karai takes over the foot after which shredder was consider dead by tmnt 2003 and aprile and Casey are together. And the Leo and raph rivalry continues to tmnt 2007.which raph says all leader fearless the same thing in tmnt 2003 for making take orders that cost them to loose.
I said this recently in reddit. The idea of the movie (and its planned sequels) would be great if done as a show. Personally I'd start the show the same way the movie started and show the events leading to Leo leaving in flashbacks.
@iancruz6617 It's not connected to 2003 that's for certain (although there seems to be things carried over eachother such as Leo leaving to train and the art style in the final season was adjusted to match the 2007 film for merchandise reasons)
The connection to the 90s films is shown through the props seen on Splinters shelf at the end of the film (shredders helmet, ooze cannister, and the time sceptre) as well as Kevin Munroe claiming it to be connected. I personally don't buy it though and see the film as its own continuity.
Honestly this felt more like a dedication to the drama between Raph and Leo because that's literally all I can remember from this movie, not the villains, not the story, not the other characters, just another reincarnation where Raph and Leo are at each other's throats for stupid s**t.
As if we didn't have enough of that already.
Odd to see you of all people making videos about a movie but it's cool to listen to you talk about something you're passionate about man, keep it up- you're doing good work here.
I've loved this movie since I saw it in theaters. I think i was 11 when it came out? But I've always known it wasn't terribly well written, and I've never been able to put my finger on why or how I would have fixed it. Thank you for finally putting it into words!!
awesome video man, I love these types of videos you do! :)
I always thought the big issue was Splinter being too passive in the face of Leo and Raph’s beef, and/or Leo being too reliant on Splinter’s orders and being a stubborn teacher’s pet.
Me too. Honestly, even with the actor's great performance, Splinter is even worse than Leo here.
@@yobabycolin2933it's not splinter's fault that they choose not to get along
*LeoFix* , the 2003 Leonardo:
He's perfect, he's flawed, he's
learning,He's sometimes clueless
he's everything they followed the
comics and fleshed him out even more.
I remember having the DVD for this movie!! I’m glad you unlocked a new memory for me
2003 Leonardo will always be my favorite Leo, even if he won't ever be my FAVORITE Turtle. Leo in the 2003 series was just like a SOLID character. I actually never really understood his POV, his responsibility until it was actually Michelangelo who would state that Leo being the leader meant that Mikey could goof off, Don could spend hours at a time in his lab, and Raph can go top side and make some punk sorry he was ever born. That moment actually made me appreciate my own older sister quite a bit more; us younger siblings really don't understand the pressures the older siblings face.
And I don't think we're ever meant to, which is WHY Raph and Leo always butt heads, while Don and Mikey kinda just leave things be. I actually always felt really bad for Donatello in this movie, because Splinter chose him to be the one in charge, when that's clearly something Don never wanted and it caused yet ANOTHER rift in the family. A thing that kinda bothered me in the 03 series too was that Don was never used as a foil for Leo-Donatello witnesses his brothers die one by one in SAINW. After that horror show, he OBSESSES with the lair's security, but aside from that there's no real closure in the show for that kind of trauma.
I think Donatello should've been the one to smack some sense into Leonardo, not Raphael when Leo was in his depression funk when the gang was at the farm house, after Leo was beaten into a coma. It for one would've been a good moment to see them together which we rarely did, and could've continued in the iconic Leo depression arc, with Don acting as a good counter to Leo's obsession with training, with making sure his brothers listen to him, because he'd have that experience of losing his family. Leo only came close to losing everyone he loved; Don actually did lose everyone he loved. They should've had a conversation about that.
BUT other than that the 03 run and 07 movie are still really good TMNT content. Top tier content.
Thank you,
There was always something about this movie more specifically the interactions between Leo and Raph, that I felt like there was some sort of disconnect or screw up in the writing, but I couldn’t put my finger on what.
So to sum it all up.
If the first scene with NightWatcher was more brutal which later could be explained with Raphael giving to his rage (maybe even because of reasons that are not all his fault like a bystander getting hurt) and Leo saw that on the news after coming back without the context... It would be cool, climactic and reasonable.
I can totally relate to that since I really liked that movie when I was younger but that storyline did not let me enjoy it.
TMNT (2007) and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie (2022) are my favorite Ninja Turtle films, honestly. Loved your two bit about nonverbal, visual storytelling, by the way.
If Ralph was being more hardcore and borderline killing people then Leo’s hate would make more sense and could have actually been compelling. I still like the movie for what it was tho.
Leo Fix. My favorite iteration of Leo is a tie between Rise and 2012 Leo.
Nice Choices!!
Leofix!
Jaxblade's Turtle Takes are all super spot on. Sorry I'm late to viewing and commenting but I'm on a scheduled calendar for workouts right now since I bought a few of Jaxblade's programs.
Well said, sir. Felt the same for years.
Also, I kinda like the villain. Not the stone generals, but their immortal brother. He gave me Vandal Savage vibes.
I miss these type of vids jax hope to see more.
I hope to make more :D
I would like to ask, when can we expect your next TMNT movie video. I'm asking because I love your last TMNT videos. Keep up the great work.
This video got you a sub. This is dope 💯
im bias but 2012 leo is definitely my favorite he feels more like a teen here then other incarnations yet still has that responsible side to him as well.
Leo Fix
Real talk, how am I not subscribed to you? I genuinely thought I was with how I watched those Horror Movie villain contingency plans.
@JaxBlade, you know your on point on leonardo not recognizing that the nightwatcher was Raphael. Cause I recall only Casey figured out it was him.
I honestly can’t say I have a favorite Leo, at least not yet. I recently decided to get back into the fandom after years off not paying attention to it. The only memories I had of the media before I watched anything tmnt for the first time in years, is a bit of 2012 and the 2007 movie. But I decided I few months ago to give Rise a try. Which also made me decide to watch 2012. I’m in the process of watch 2012 and then plan on watching the other cartoons. But it’s so hard for me to pick a favorite Leo because both Rise and 2012 are so different. I just like both of them a lot!
When I first caught clips of this movie online, the way you explained it was actually how I thought it went. Knowing now that the actual plot was so lacking, it's sort of disappointing and hollow.
Ngl, I’d be down for Jax becoming a light TMNT youtuber
I think the writers wanted a Leo vs Raph fight and wrote the plot around that.
Everything u said is pretty spot on, I love this movie still and I will admit there be flaws. Kickass vid btw just saw ur channel here and will definitely watch more
If they showed Leo learning vigilanteism ends in a bad way as to why he dislikes it (and why he stopped doing it) and why he doesn't want his brother making the same mistakes it would have been way better.
Ever since i watched this movie
It always felt like the writers wrote all the cool Raph and Leo stuff but then was like "eeh we have to make a movie around if"
The 2000's animated series Leo was my favorite, honestly
All of us here from Twitter already know
Let the RAGE Begin 😈
Hehehehe
BRO I HAVEN'T WATCHED THIS SINCE A KID LEOS MY FAV SINCE I WAS A KID WHY YOU GOTTA HURT MY NOSTALGIA 😭😭😭
Great video. Where would you place TMNT among the other Ninja Turtles films?
For me what I remember most from that movie is how the animated the hair. The hair was so good to me back in the day. I dont rewatch stuff much so dont know if was just younger me thinking that but to me thats what I remember the most from the movie and was like the gateway/step up to the animation world for me.
I like how raph just became a mobster during the impression LMAO
I really like RISE a lot, more so with Leo I like how he kind of wants to be in the spotlight without the responsibility and hiding insecurity with arrogance and show boating. While yes he is a jokester, and incredibly cocky, he truly loves his brothers and will defend them. Not to mention is the one with a more grounded view point like when wanting to start off small for hero missions, or pointing out the red flags of other bad guys, it's more nuanced and not as obvious as other incarnations but then again he's a teenager and I like seeing RISE turtles steadily grow up. Plus overall RISE turtles feel more like a family to me, the fact they call Splinter "Dad" more then "Master" is just very heartwarming.
Now I wanna rewatch this movie.
I grew up with this but on recent rewatches I had similar problems you had.
I remember seeing it in theaters wondering wait a minute why is he mad at Rafael when he was doing the same thing in the jungle lol
I still love this movie, but I totally agree that Leo wasn't as fleshed out as he needed to be.
Raph is surprisingly well rounded. Like you said, he's not really perceived as a bad guy, when he probably should be in order to justify his tension with Leo.
Also, this may just be me reading too into things, but I feel like in TMNT movies where Raph and Leo have this dynamic, it gets really fleshed out and it's pretty great, but it doesn't leave Donnie and Mikey to do much.
Like, even in this movie, they don't do a whole lot-neither does Splinter.
I feel like it takes a little away from the whole team bonding/family message if the whole family isn't involved nearly as the other two.
I did grow up with this movie, and even as a little baby i thought that fight (and Leo's character in general) was really weird. I might have to rewatch it, but it doesn't seem to ever get resolved? Like, it comes down to "Leo is in the right, Raph is wrong, go beat up some dudes" i dunno it was a weird movie.
I think Leos problem was that he and his brothers have been ninja training their whole lives but to his knowledge Nightwatcher had little training if any at all so he was just some guy in a suit getting himself into trouble.
All I had to do was look at the thumbnail and title and think for a moment before clicking on the video to realize what this was about lol
Leo fix:
You covered all the parts I felt off about this 2007 Leo. So I won't extend.
80s-90s uh.. idk grew up on them but it felt like everyone was the same from time to time...
2003 hit and miss but definitely the most developed. And maybe.. 2018-2020 must I explain why?
2012 This just feels like testing grounds or mess about for me and I don't know why...
LeoFix: the 2003 version went through a paradigm shift from each passing season as his character develops.
Can u make a Mma workout routine, how much you should do S&C and a workout for it love the vids
Big Dog Imma need that movie comparison video!! Sliiiideeee ittttt naaaoooo
I think my favorite Leo is definitely 2012 Leo. The reason why is that I love how Leo became a teenager to a full leader and master.
"Don't do this Raph."
"I'm done taking orders."
🔥 🔥
I have this on DVD and completely forget I had it but once the scene where Leo "kills the dude" just gave me flashbacks of the whole movie also I don't remember the villains at all
I was sort of only half listening while eating, and heard the whole Raphael "How do you know you ain't misunderstanding the situation?" line, and without context, my first thought was
"When Raphael is being the reasonable one to you, it's time to dial things back."
The thing i was how was Leo becoming a better leader away from his team? Also the TMNT are vigilanties themselves and pretty sure Leo killed Shredder as it is in all of tmnt. Leo has no right to tell Raph to stop being nightwatcher as hes basically doing the same thing as him but Raph is getting shit done
I love this video. I’m a massive Leo fan and I can’t really defend the hypocrisy. I try to explain it away that Leo wants to be more hidden and not brutal but the prequel comics detail is damning. Also I can’t defend out of the shadows version who hid the human formula. The hypocrisy in tmnt is disappointing. Love your suggested fix. It would have given Leo an arc of sorts. I don’t really understand his arc in tmnt. He didn’t learn anything did he?
Ironically this version has been my favorite version of the ninja turtles because I had the game and movie. And when I watched it recently this was the one thing that made me a little confused. But regardless I loved the movie because of Raph as the night watcher and Mikey’s skateboard scene. It’s actually more I like but those were my core memories for this movie.
As a Raphael stan, I was happy to finally see him get one over on Leo in that rooftop scene.
So was I but I think that I had the same reaction both of them did when I realized that Raph had broken Leo's katanas.
I for one never ignored it. I may be a Raph fanboy but I absolutely hated how much they disrespected Leo in this movie. He doesn't even feel like Leonardo.
Good job talking about how the disciplined and balanced Leo savagely killed dozens of people (even though it was ENTIRELY justified), because he gave in to an ENTIRELY just rage - while the ever conflicted and temperamental Raph managed to keep his anger and emotions in check for so long. That is even more noticeable during that epic and memorable rooftop fight. At one point, Leo tries to stab Raph in the neck (mere seconds before they lock blades and Raph disarms Leo) and Raph only survives thanks to his quick reflexes. But, when Raph has the upper hand, he still has enough control to spare Leo, by choosing to stab the ground next to his head. Also, most of Leo's moves consist of wild and careless swings of his blades directed towards Raph's vital organs, while most of Raph's attacks (when using his lethal sai) are aimed at Leo's swords, to block or trap them. Yes, it's Raph who grew and learned to be more focused and less angry. All that time, Leo didn't realize he could have killed his brother by accident. He didn't stop, even after nearly stabbing him in the neck. And, all that time, Raph was keeping himself in check. Also, the leader didn't even take into account the fact that the main purpose of a pair of sai (Raph's weapons) was to trap and break swords. So much for knowing your teammates and their abilities. Not exactly a master tactician, either.
I think it's mainly because Leo learned nothing and all that violent crime in Central America got to his psyche making him more volatile and unstable when enraged where as Raph learned to direct his rage else where without being volatile and unstable
03 Leo and IDW Leo are my two in all around preference. The TMNT 07 Leo has one of my favorite voices for the character and I generally love the more lean physique of these turtles.
Raph wearing the Nightwatcher armor without the helmet almost makes him look like he turned evil and joined the Foot Clan, which would be awesome to see on screen. I know we already have thanks to TMNT 2012 and TMNT 2003 but I want to see him join willingly and serve The Shredder and fight his brothers.
"BUT!!" MAN did that catch me off guard lollll you can never forget how much of a BADDIE 1980s April was!
