Thanks soo much for the video, it saved me thousands of dollars. I went to Freightliner dealership to adjust or change clutch brake and they told me there is something wrong with transmission. I told them, don't touch it. I'll fix it my self. So I went on RUclips and check how to adjust the clutch. It took me about an hour to adjust it. Thanks for all the videos here. We save a lot of money.
That’s awesome ! I’m glad it helped you. We have a bunch on how to videos in the playlist if you want to check them out. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment

Any new mechanics will greatly appreciate the manual adjusting mechanical linkage Easy Pedal clutches over hydraulic adjustable type . Mark the vibration dampener where your adjusting bolt is aligned with the inspection hole cover plate .
Thanks you saved me alot of $$
That’s great to hear. Be sure to check out our other videos in the playlist truck fixing.
Appreciate it
We use a 1/2 headed bolt to check the gap
Thank you. Mines gets harder to shift as it warms up. I have no free play also.
You want 1/8 in from fork to throw out bearing. That will put your pedal where it needs to be.
so after i got the clutch brake adjusted correctly , i have about 4 inches of free play in the pedal , take that up by decreasing the linkage ? 2006 pete 379 with a cat c15 and 13 speed
Hey boss I’ve a lot of noise there do you think I need clutch adjust? Thx
First I've heard ...STOP BREAK..... around south Virginia we call it CLUTCH BRAKE
I'm wanting to just a clutch on a full automatic 10-speed 2018 T680
SO YOUR IMPUT SEAL IS BAD ON YOUR TRANS OR YOUR REAR ENG SEAL IS BAD ON YOUR ENG IF THERE IS OIL IS DOWN THERE
Wat about the self adjusting clutch is it done the same way?
Most self adjusting clutches can’t be adjusted.
What’s the part # on that tire inflator with the snap on screw driver handle?
I did a video on it years ago.ruclips.net/video/6MEe2Gk1jpA/видео.html
4 6 mercury changed intake madfold
What do you use to get the 1/8 between the fork and through out bearing
If the shifter is sticking, is that clutch related? I have to fight it sometimes out of 9th to get into 10th. Or 7th to 8th.
Not necessarily, does it come out if you depress the clutch half way without struggling ?
Koon Trucking I’m still struggling when I press the clutch.
Sticking and hard shifting is low or too thick of oil in the transmission.
The nasty bit about having a shop adjust the clutch in your truck is dishonest shops.
A guy I knew a trucker for 40 years had a shop tell him he needed a new client clutch he brought it to me . To get a new clutch I slipped under and found there was nothing wrong accept it was over adjusted. This is VERY COMMON unfortunately. Had a pilot truck stop try and sell me a new clutch on a tractor with 40,000 miles on it.
The rule is if a clutch doesn't last until the transmission wears out fire your driver . Bye I've always used 3/8 inch for gap .
Dumb question, can this be done a hydraulic clutch aswell?
good question , but nobody answered
Negative. Hydraulic clutch is just like a self adjusting clutch.
If this is out of wack will it make it hard to start out in low gears?? I have a Eaton Fuller 10 speed and it’s getting difficult to start out in a low gear.
Nathan Sutton your clutch maybe slipping if that is the case it will be
Can I do the same on cascadia 2014
Yep
1/2¨ -9/16¨ clutch brake 1/8¨ free play measured at the release fork and throw out bearing pedal travel can be up to 3¨ the 1/8¨ is for frame twist under starting load ,use 1/2¨bolt head and a 9/16¨'bolt head use a 1/8¨ welding rod.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
How much would you charge for that service on a truck with that same setup??
Probably half hour labor or $80 ? Just really depends on how long it would take to do.
Most here in TX charge $125 or they do where I'm from.
What if my clutch gets spongy only sometimes and engages way too soon? Like just above the floor.
When Iam sitting still it’s hard to put in gear ? What’s the problem? 🤬
that clutch brake works with grease
I get my wife to hold my clutch in and the adjuster won’t turn. I have hardly any toe play and about 5/8 between the throwout bearing in the clutch brake. Anybody have any idea what going on with it? I am pushing the lock al the way in.
18 speed hooked up to a 550 cat Acert in a 389 peterbilt
Did you find the problem?
Dzl Lactuca yeah I had to tap it with a hammer while trying to turn it. I run in dust a lot so I guess that's what had it seized up.
Dzl Lactuca I broke a tooth on the adjuster but luckily I had and old clutch in the scrap pile and took one out of it.
@@axemurderbambi2995 im glad you made it possible ,keep it going👍🏽
Anyone who believes a clutch should last as long as a transmission needs to stop reading garbage. On average, a big truck, even driven by experienced drivers who are kind to trucks, will go through at least 2 clutches in transmission life. Sometimes 3.
