@@SimonJerromes thanks Simon! I dont normally shoot macros (mainly because my eyesight is shocking for close ups) but really enjoyed doing it that morning!
Thanks for another informative video. It's particularly interesting and very useful that you share your thought processes as you compose your images. Harsh light doesn't need to be avoided after all. 😊
Thanks again John. I agree with you regarding the latter droplet shots - stunning! The colours you brought out in the high contrast shots are beautiful.
Good video. I especially enjoyed the water droplets shot at the end. I often have similar conditions with bright dappled sunlight in a forest setting. This gives me some ideas on how to make the most of such difficult lighting.
Happy Birthday John. Another great video. Thanks for giving me a different way to view shots especially in high contrast conditions something I have struggled with for ages. Reflection shot of the water drops first class
I really enjoyed this video John because being a lazy old so and so I often don’t get out until late morning and get these conditions often. Now you’ve given me some encouragement 😊 I really did like the water droplets on the leaves but my shot of the day was the minimalist shot of the grass surrounded by the cloud reflection superb.
@@malcolm.thomson5310 thanks Malcolm! That was my favourite too! Had to climb up onto a 6ft rock to get the angle so i could avoid the sky but definitely worth it.
Hello Birthday boy! I think this is my favourite video that you have done, the first photograph of the leaves with the dew drops reflecting the sky is just sublime! I'd love it if you did some more of these high contrast photograph videos!
It's a long time since I went out to specifically get High contrast images and you cracked it with these, John, the Light and Dark worked beautifully. The Final close-up shots of the Leaves worked very well the almost Black backdrop really projected the foreground Colours and the Reflections on the Droplets was Super. Really liked the Melancholy music that really suited your Video. And congrats on your Birthday🎉🎉
@@douglasritchie2836 thanks Douglas! To be honest i went out thinking it was going to be misty but got there and it had all burned off already so this was plan B!
Happy birthday John! Catching up on many of your videos on RUclips - I've been away for awhile. Very nice and calming video. Loved the close up photos with the water droplets - lovely work as always!
Belated birthday wishes! I just got back from four days of beach photography on the southern Oregon coast. I could have benefitted from this video on that shoot. Some very, very harsh light contrasting with seastacks of various kinds in deep shadow on one side and brightly lit on the other. Challenging! Sunsets were especially difficult. I love what you did here by picking smaller, more intimate details which were almost spotlit by the brightness and then exposing so that the background would fade into shadow. A great lesson! Also, the water droplets on the leaves were very cool! Thank you again for another great video.

John, I’ve finally finished the editing. I’d rather not post the link to this chat line. Is there a better way for getting you the link? I can forward the email I sent to my friends with the link in it if that works.
21 again eh ☺ I'm a big fan of chiaroscuro. The longer the lens the easier it becomes, as long as you have a steady hand. Really nice shots, although being the odd one out I preferred the watery ones ... very Sino-Japanese.
Beautiful as always, and many happy returns Sir.
Thanks! The birthday badge was under duress!
Many happy returns, John. I loved the colours and reflections of the water droplets on the leaves, so glad you captured those.

Enjoyed that John, nice to see the close up intimate shots of the water droplets 👍👍

Love the video - especially the amazing images of the reeds in the water and the water drops.
