Superb reflections and compositions John would be hard to choose a favourite but I especially liked the close up waterfalls. Next time you are in that neighbourhood you may like to visit the Allt Camghouran stream. The directions are as follows....Travel along the south shore of the loch to Camghouran where the road splits, park here and walk about 700yards along the left road following the stream, here you will find excellent waterfalls and glides. Beautiful area with the stags roaring in the background (in season). The W3W's for the main falls is ...strutting.octagon.riots ...you will not be disappointed.
Beautiful conditions, John, It is a perfectly flat Loch with wonderful reflections and lovely shots of the burn and falls. Hopefully, no one will Nick it this time.
Wonderful photos, John! A nice contrast between the openness of the Loch and feel of the forest and streams! I really like how you handled the large branch cutting across the stream. The way you cropped it and your post-processing drew it into the composition in a way which, at least for me, was not distracting at all. I thought it worked well. The reflection shots were beautiful. When you shot the part of the lake where the water was slightly rippling, the effect on the reflected images of the trees was really cool! Thank you for another great video.
Thanks James! Glad you liked it. I really wasn't sure about this one and almost didn't release it, but because there was also a "Tales from..." video involved I stuck with it. I'd been hoping for slightly more autumnal colours and less blue sky for this trip!
@@JohnMcKennaPhotography I imagine autumnal colors will be spectacular. I hope you do get back there when the leaves have turned. It would make for a great contrast with this video. On another topic, I'm curious about your process when out on the scene. For a video like this one, how many images do you take to get the "right" one?
The autumn colours around this part of the country are usually incredible, so I'm looking forward to getting back here in a few weeks. Regarding the images, if it's a straight forward shot, i'll usually take 2 identical images (just in-case a stray insect or bird has popped into the scene and I've not noticed it!). If I'm taking an exposure blend (or a focus stacked shot) then it's usually 2 - 3 shots per image. I don't really hang around for long, so I rarely take any more than 1 or 2 compositions of the same scene, so the one in the video is usually the 1st or 2nd shot I took of that particular subject.
Superb photos and location you captured the moment very well reflections were so good my favourite were the water fall images, watched on TV only just got round to comment. Thanks for sharing John.
Fantastic John, the reflections are amazing, brilliant shots of the waterfall. I love your post processing. Looked forward to watching the video this week, haven't been out for a month due to family life.
Great shots again John although I’m a sucker for waterfalls and really liked all of them I think my favourite was the telephoto shot of the tree reflections, tough decision though😊
@@JohnMcKennaPhotography hopefully the colours will turn soon. Not managed to get out this week. Might pop out later today but will definitely be out this week sometime. Should be up your neck of the woods mid October, not sure if the date but will try time it to make a day or two of it!!
You had some amazing reflections in the lake. Very nice photos. However my overall favorite was the small cascade at about 14:30 in the video. Also, concerning the thin branch intruding on your shot that you deleted in post processing, I have no compunction about removing such clutter before taking the shot (if I can reach it). I don't think of it as staging a scene - I regard it as improving my lie.
Thanks! I must admit I don't really have an issue with removing elements from a shot. I do feel a little uncomfortable about adding things though (like sky replacement, for example)

@@JohnMcKennaPhotography I agree. For a landscape shot, that's a step too far.
