they're filming scenes for the second one at my highschool this weekend. its pretty cool they've got tons of trailers, trucks, tents, equipment, and wires all over the place
lol got any leaks?
That's awesome man
@MrGonzale09 this is in Atlanta, but it's only some of the school scenes (maybe all im not sure, i know they are also going to be filming in another school here)
You just doxxed yourself
Woah Cool!! I saw they started shooting the second one.
The face Matt made when Holden said fresh off the boat was priceless

There is nothing funny in CW's shazam.

As a 55 year old man who grew up reading the library of comic books going back to the 1930s, it was absolutely CLEAR to me that they were trying to capture the feeling of the Fawcett comics' Captain Marvel, sort of fused with a more contemporary setting and foster family dynamic. This would, of COURSE, be completely alien stuff to Matt and non-comics folks. Dr. Sivana really was Captain Marvel's first/best villain, and I thought Mark Strong did a great job. What are you gonna do, though, right?
I agree with Matt, I complete agree with their attempt at the direction, but it needed a bit more editing and better screenwriting to support it. I loved the borderline kid movie feel, but the final act just felt cheap, like they didn’t realize how they were going to finish the movie until they went to film it.
I wish they would have kept the Sivana from the comics , the smalish scientist mastermind
This is my favourite DCEU movie, this movie surprised me the most, it was funny, sad, dark and had a lot of heart.
Same here, Sad Matt didn't like it.
I feel like I like this movie alot more than I should because of how bad previous movies are
@@fps8786 Is that why you liked Endgame because of how bad Captain Marvel and Ant man and the Wasp where?
@@trevorphilips9065 ant man wasn’t that bad, it was just utterly pointless in both the universe and its own story, but still enjoyable

The guy complaining about all the kids becoming heroes, that is directly from cannon. Modern Shazam is not one person.
Thank you. That was utterly stupid on his part. No offense, but when you can super easily fact check this, you look like an idiot.
@@BIGD-cc7ru nah I agree with the guy whether its canon or not I dont really like it not everything from the comics is golden uno
@@callumgarwood8637 tell that to the marvel fans complaining about movies not being comic book accurate. You guys gotta decide wether you want it comic book based or not. This was great to see if only they had kept the scene with 7th throne referencing black Adam
@@TheICEDoutking I think the scene with the thrones would make it for much better but either way I personally like it being more than one person. I think it’s different. I like the idea of a family of superheroes kinda like the Incredibles and it’s just a different kind of team or dynamic than the usual superhero teams and whether it’s logical or not the movie made it work really well. I feel like it’s one of the things that because it’s cannon from the comics it should stay that way. I can’t really imagine it any other way. That’s not always the case but with this I think it works

The wizard didn’t make the villain. The kid had a terrible father and the 7 deadly sins sensed his corruption.

If a Superhero can't Save His Family, He's not Much of a Hero! That's a Great Quote Right there!
She’s right; my 14-year-old loved it. But I’m in my late 40s and also freaking loved it so... I am aware that parts of my brain stopped at age 12. Nothing creepy, just my tastes in entertainment. Not sure how anyone could just think this movie was okay. I thought it was outstanding.
the ending felt a bit too cheesy
@Garrard In the original stories about the "Shazam" (then "Captain Marvel") character, in the 1940s and 50s, and continuing when he was revived by DC in the 70s and 80s, Dr. Sivana frequently ridiculed him by calling him, "The Big Red Cheese."
For anyone unaware of it, Shazam: Fury Of The Gods, has just started filming this week. Also, Black Adam, which is like Shazam's dark counterpart, is also filming, and it will have Dwayne Johnson playing Black Adam and feature the Justice Society.

I’m absolutely with Prime. It’s a fantastic, fun, good feeling movie. But it doesn’t feel like it is in the DCEU. I know it is. But I feel like it’s only in the DCEU because we’re told it is. Not because we’re shown that it is.
@@Niop_Tres I’m under the personal belief that with the release of Snyder Cut and the success of Joker, WB has a unique opportunity to make a multiverse that audience can understand.
Make the “canon” DCEU a cinematic experience, keep the solo films like Joker and The Batman coming, and then Snyderverse can be an HBOMAX exclusive.
On a side note, strictly based on people I’ve talked to, I think the state of the DCEU is very clear that out of all the announced projects from WB, the most anticipated is The Batman (the only announce DC movie not in the DCEU).

Matt is not a movie guy. That's why you get all these 1st time watches of famous movies.
Matt is a lot like me when it comes to superhero movies. He needs that these movies follow their own rules. Im cool with super-powers and non-realistic physics, but when a movie establishes "magic" they also need to establish what that means and dosent mean. I think Matt didn't love Shazam because anything can happen and the characters just shrugs their shoulders. A dragon could enter the battle and everyone would be like "ah cool a dragon" there seems to be no limits
@@pettergundersen263 I'm totally in agreement with this. It's also important to be consistent with how magic or powers work based on how they're presented.
@@pettergundersen263 to be fair the magic system in Shazam was well established in the movie about how powers from multiple Greek Gods are passed down to individual humans. First with the Wizard Shazam trusting to give all his powers to Billy, and eventually Billy trusting his foster family by giving them individual powers of each Greek Gods. The theme of the movie is about trusting your family (contrast to his mom who abandoned him) and when Billy said "What good is power, if you got nobody to share it with." which is contrast to the villain who killed his family for his obsession with gaining power.
when is the falcon and the winter soldier reaction?

The first Thor movie I can understand. I like it because I think arrogant fish out of water Thor is hilarious, but Thor 2 is straight trash. Would never willingly watch that movie again unless I was getting paid to.
@@bulletproofman323 and what is wrong with jen liking thor 2. its called opinions and everyone have different opinions
@@Wlof25 well, good movie and entertaining don't necessarily go hand in hand. A Streetcar Named Desire and 2001 a Space Odyssey are considered "good movies" but are boring af to some people like me. You don't like Thor, that's fine, I can totally see how it was boring to some people. It's not particularly exciting and not much happens. I just happen to like Thor being a joke in it. Things like him flipping out in the hospital and getting backed up into by a car and Darcy literally carried the movie for me. I don't think it's great, but I think it's simple enough in its straightforward plot that it didn't really mess up in any way for it to bother me and solid with it's characters to make it at least enjoyable enough to watch for some people like myself. Good movies should reach certain bench marks to be considered good, entertainment is heavily subjective.

I totally didnt think Jenna was enjoying this😂😂
To be honest the most jarring thing for me was that I didn't think the grown shazam and billy seemed like the same character. That's not to say the acting was bad, I just think they were basically two different characters. Billy was so cynical of the world and mostly grumpy and antisocial, but when he was grown Shazam he was all like 'WOAH', performing in front of crowds 'LIGHTING WITH MY HANDS' 'AWesOME'. But then back to young Billy he was all serious again. Neither of the interpretations of the character are bad, I just think they were just so jarringly different to me that I couldn't believe they were the same person and therefor didn't feel close to either of them.
"Edit THAT part out!" Lmao.

That's why this whole movie watching gimmik payed off in the first place. Because he hated everything when you expected him to be a fan.
They have already announced a Shazam 2 a little bit ago I believe Shazam:fury of the gods
A pretty coherent film and well executed story telling via the medium of cinema. It stands out in the DCEU just for that. It has a lot of underlying themes and it delivered a lot more than I thought it would.
Well they started production on Shazam 2 this week. Zachary levi (Shazam) confirmed that this week.
Matt needs to learn about the Shazam Family. It's straight out of the comics.
“From the comics” doesn’t = good though. The concept of the power Ranger kids is neat, but it is done really awkwardly. They learn and master their powers so much faster than Billy it almost invalidates his training in the movie.
He'll hate it in the comics too.
I admit that I think they moved a bit too quickly on the Shazam Family... kinda wished they would have eluded to it and dealt with it in the sequel, but that's not what we got. I still enjoyed the film though.
This movie looked so stupid on paper, but it worked out fine. Not the greatest movie ever, but I had a pleasant time watching it
I mean, that’s fair. Trailers left me skeptical too. But I loved the movie. I figured the least someone would like it is to find it kind of young for their tastes.
please show Jen and Matt the Kingsman movies. SO much fun to be had... also an unexpected twist for your friends in the way hero movies can be presented.
Supposedly, Henry Cavill was p&ssed that they didn't actually ask him to cameo for the final scene. He really felt that scene (Superman showing up to have lunch with a bullied kid) reflected more of Superman's spirit than just tossing cars.
You should watch Birds of Prey after this one!!!
I'm closer to Jen and Matt on this one (not the score) on how I feel about the movie, I'm at around a 6.5-7. I enjoyed this more than any of the other DCEU movies, except maybe MoS that I think is underrated, but I felt the writing wasn't particularly great overall, I didn't feel the really dark tone they set with the bad guy meshed well with the tone of the kid side, the bad guy/monsters weren't all that interesting or utilized very well imo, I felt they should have leaned more into the kid learning to not use the power for selfish reasons (which could have tied back into the deadly sins), etc. It honestly felt like there was more unnecessary studio interference as there has been with every single one of these DCEU movies
I completely agree with you. I would give it around a 6.5. It's fun movie to watch but the writing always felt like there were dozens of people trying to give their two cents on how the movie should be. I thought the first half was great and that they portrayed how a kid would react to becoming a superhero accurately. I wasn't a huge fan of how they became the Shazam family at the end. It feels too early and unearned.
"More than any other of the DCEU movies" Wonder why 👀
Starring Billy Braxton as an orphaned boy who gets adopted by a family who takes him in. When he meets an older mystic with the ability to transfer his power to him by turning him into a hero known as Shazam played by Zachary Levi against the evil executive played by Mark Strong
