It's underrated? Its perfectly rated
Shazam is one of few that could actually match Superman in battle.
He actually beat Superman in the 70s, when the DC writers were still thinking clearly and didn't give Superman all these powers.
The Director, David Sandberg is a RUclipsr who became a director. He also plays Billy’s mom’s boyfriend and the alligator people.
He did great directing Shazam and Annabelle
And his wife played the assistant who died touching the door
Zachary Levi (adult Billy) was great in the TV show “Chuck”. You’ll love it!

I don’t get the DC vs Marvel war. Neither is better than the other in any way. One has been more successful just because of better management.

He was called Captain Marvel since he was created in 1939.
The character was originally called Captain Thunder or Captain Marvel (Shazam was the name of the wizard) but that got DC in a legal dispute with Marvel obviously, so they just renamed the hero/comic to Shazam as well in the end. He actually makes a lot of appearances in older DC material (like a cameo on the Justice League cartoon show) with the old name.

Shazam (Billy) has 6 powers. These powers got distributed among his brothers and sisters, so each of them has only one.

When he was first created he was known as Captain Marvel and Shazam was the wizard and the word he said to gain his powers. He was owned by Fawcett Comics and outsold Superman numerous times in terms of sales. DC Comics sued them because of the similarities between the two, they later settled out of court with Fawcett paying DC and agreeing not to publish anymore Captain Marvel comics. DC later bought Fawcett in the 1970s and used a lot of their characters in their own universe. They officially changed the name of Captain Marvel to Shazam because by that time Marvel had already trademarked it since all the copyrights and trademarks to Fawcett had already lapsed.

His name was supposed to be Capt Marvel but Marvel took the rights to that name so he has the name of the magic word that calls his hero form. I think his new name should be Capt Lighting.

I like that this movie has the power of flight is something that has to be earned.

This character was originally created as Captain Marvel by Fawcett comics. But Fawcett was bought by DC AND to avoid confusion they have taken to calling him Shazam
DC let the Copyright on the name Captain Marvel lapse so Marvel comics used it for their Captain Marvel in the 70's- Mar-Vell and Marvel has not let the Copyright lapse. DC had to change his name to Shazam. In the 40's DC's CM actually was more popular and outsold Superman in the comics. Also his outfit and short cape were big influences on Elvis who was a huge CM fan.
Originally he was Captain Marvel and the rest were Marvel Family and had powers too. So hope it stays in second.

12:34 Actually, Henry Cavill was actually supposed to be in the Shazam movie as a confirmed cameo appearance. Unfortunately, he couldn't make it due to a scheduling conflict. So his stunt double for Man of Steel actually was brought in to help out.
Shazam used to be called "Captain Marvel" but they didn't copyright the name so Marvel was able to use it.

yes, it's no coincidence that he has similar powers to Superman lol...Shazam was probably the first Superman rip-off created by a rival company (tho he was called Captain Marvel back then)...but then DC bought the character. since then he has been part of the Justice League several times, and he's fought Superman a lot--usually winning.
and the running gag of not knowing what to call him in the movie is a meta commentary on how DC isn't allowed to use his original name anymore, because while DC wasn't printing Captain Marvel comics, Marvel created a different character with that name, and laid claim to the name...and DC never really settled on a new name for him, since most other characters call him "Shazam", but he can't say that without transforming...
The Russia House 1990 with Sean Connery, Michelle Pfeiffer and Roy Scheider is a hidden gem. It's a romantic drama that's highly overlooked.😄😄👍👍💥

I love this movie. It is my favorite DCEU movie.
To give ya an idea of how much of a kid Zachery Levi really is, keep in mind he also voiced Flynn Ryder in Tangled. I heard someone mention he only took that role in the hopes he'd be able to reprise it one day in the Kingdom Hearts series. Which he did in Kingdom Hearts 3.
The main message in this movie is all about abandonment.

He said Shazam to change into Captain Marvel. It's too bad he lost the name Captain Marvel. DC successfully sued the creators of Shazam, calling him a ripoff of Superman, and it went off the stands for years, leaving the name Captain Marvel free to be taken by Marvel.

Who’s editing your videos where they’re just skipping the key dramatic parts? (The stuff with Billy’s mom, the family dinner, etc) It seems like your editor is just trying to get the “big” moments. It just doesn’t feel like we’re watching you enjoy the character’s actual emotional journey. I’ve noticed this with other videos, but haven’t said anything. It was just glaring for this video. Btw -- I understand the 10-minute time limit, but again it’s an editing issue, not a time one.

I really like this movie…I usually either love or hate a DC movie for anything after The Dark Knight trilogy but this one having such an element of comedy and fantasy to it made me love it. The casting and acting was so great! I really loved the message/themes of family as well. I think because it didn’t take itself too seriously is why it worked for me. Though this one is a little on the weirded side the happy and silly moments really moved this movie up the list for me. I’d put it competing for 3rd place with Aquaman for favorite DC movie after The Dark Knight trilogy….just below 1st) *THE* Suicide Squad and 2nd)Wonder Woman
