Well done. From one guitar player, and a huge Frank Marino fan since the '70s, to another.... Really REALLY well done. Nice phrasing, good timing, solid tone.
Hell YEAH! THIS IS A REAL BLESSING /GIFT THAT THERE IS SOMEONE LIKE YOU BROTHER , ON RUclips, THAT KNOWS THE BRILLIANCE OF FRANK MARINO AND EVEN TEACHES US GUITARISTS, SAVING US A LOT OF TIME , DISECTING & FIGURING OUT FM'S CHORDS & RIFFS, THANKS YOU ARE A GREAT PERSON & GREAT PLSYER YOURSELF. MIKE
Awesome cover and what a cool Strat type guitar. I rally want to try and build a guitar someday. Please keep the Frank covers coming. He's been one of my top 5 guitarists for as long as I can remember.
I notice a lot of guys doing frank covers are over effected if you really listen frank is pretty clean he's even mentioned that frank was a martyr of rock just as important as Eddie or Jimmy but totally sidelined and monikered
I agree. I think I know some of the guys you're referring to. Frank's early albums had a good dose of modulation saturation, but he became progressively cleaner as his career advanced. This tune, as well as Land of 1000 Nights, were about as thick as Frank went on modulation. Too many guitarists hide behind effects. I think Frank realized, very early on, that he didn't have to do that! When someone is as good as Frank, I want to hear EVERY note he plays!
@@fenderbender8556 I believe he was just as important as jimmyH jimmyP and Eddie horribly sidelined and monikered He spent most of his career trying to dispell the monikers
I see u got a HB at the neck bud what is it ? I have a gib paf pro in my SGs neck that I love I can really pour the power to it Frank rules !!!!! Seen him 5x from full circle circa
This guitar is equipped with all Seymour Duncan pups. I have push/pull pots, so I can split the humbuckers if desired. On this tune I was using the Neck in split mode. I can't remember the model # or specs on these. I'd have to dig out the receipt!
@@fenderbender8556 cool split mode !! Frank used splitting going back I'm assuming when he would get that real thin tinny sound prob split the bridge ??????
@@zandig666 With that REALLY thin tinny sound, Frank is actually picking BEHIND his bridge! The tremolo/tailpice he uses has about 3-4 inches of string between it and the bridge. He picking the strings in there!
@@fenderbender8556 yes his 61 sg with the vibrola ??? I believe he said he never found a proper reissue of that vibrola ?? Not even sure if he's happy with that glynn
It's funny you requested this. I have been thinking of making just such a video for a while now! All I can say is, stay tuned. I'll have to start compiling a list on paper (from the list in my head!). Thanks for the extra prodding to hopefully get me going on this project!
Sounds good I can't wait to see your frank marino video lesson soon. His new DVD live at the Agora should give you a lot of ideas of his trade mark licks and phrasing
I apologize for not posting anything in quite a while. Hopefully over this winter I can get back to doing Frank tutorials. I played over 60 gigs this past season (May-Oct) which took all of my time! That's a great song by him. I will chew on it for a while and see if I can do a tutorial. Thanks for the suggestion!

Many thanks! I've also been a fan since I first heard the Strange Universe album in the 70s.

I saw Frank Marino at the Ritz in 1988 in Detroit I'm going to see him September 23rd 2021 in Detroit at the Token Lounge
I'm also going to see him in Derry NH this Sept. It'll be my first Frank show. Been a fan since the 1970's. I'm totally stoked!
