"He looks like Sting" I love that you came across this in reverse order! When Sting went from colourful to a darker character, Scott Hall suggested he take his new look from The Crow :)
On every Crow video someone comes out with this same comment. In reality, Chad was on set for TWO DAYS and that was AFTER Brandon had died. Jeff Cadiente was Brandon's stunt double for 99% of the film, just as he was on Rapid Fire.
It is chopped. Because Brandon Lee died before all the planned scenes with him were shot. They had to rewrite the rest to f the script, use a lot of digital effects, and a stuntman stand-in to work around the problem in order to finish the movie. By the way, the stuntman stand-in later directed the four John Wick movies.
Every word true. Also the director cut his teeth making music videos which have a similar style that imho really worked to bring the heart of the story to life through flashback vignettes. The magic of this movie was never the plot, but the vibe. The grief over the loss of Brandon Lee also added a layer of gravitas that I think newer viewers tend to miss out on.
Biss already knows this. She googled the film first. She is just repeating what she read, so that she can appear to have keen insight into the art of film.
Perfect revenge! The knife guy died with knives, the explosives guy blew up, the druggie overdosed, the lady taking eyes lost her eyes, and the guy responsible for all got to feel all the pain he caused to Shelly! It's a classic! No to the new one...
Firstly, i'm glad you enjoyed it, to me this movie has a very special place in my heart. You're right about the choppiness, that was mostly due to Brandon's death on set while in production, they did a great job in finishing the movie and still honoring Brandon's memory throughout.
i remember when it happened, we were shocked, and worried that it was a cash grab because of th death like so many would have done but they handled it well
Destroying instruments from time to time is a necessary sacrifice in the more passionate genres of rock n roll. Fun fact: Kurt Cobain almost destroyed the acoustic guitar from the Nirvana Unplugged session, but stopped at the last moment. It became the highest-priced guitar ever sold at auction ($6M).

The cast really nailed their roles. Its the main reason why this movie is so beloved to this day. Especially the antagonists, they are able to come off as likeable in one form or fashion, yet still able to make their looming deaths seem likeable as well. Each scene is quick and to the point and then makes The Point for the future scenes. Great Movie!!
The reason why the film is chopped, as you put it, is because Brandon died on the set of the movie before they finished filming it. For a while there the director wasn't going to finish and release the film at all. Fortunately for us Brandon's fiancée and family urged the director to finish the film. It finally came out a bit over a year after Brandon's death. Kinda ironic. The film was completed using a body double for Brandon, a little CGI and first person perspective shots. This film remains a memorial for Brandon who died too soon.

Biss will only allow Kurt to smash a guitar without being scolded. And that's fair enough. The Crow was a movie with a lot of heart. The bad guys were genuinely despicable, and the cop, the girl, and Eric were all easy to love. The loss of Brandon made it all even more bittersweet (just like the loss of Heath Ledger years later). Btw, the movie also had an incredible soundtrack. Totally worth reacting to Nine Inch Nails "Dead Souls" (a Joy Division cover), and The Cure's "Burn."

I used to watch this movie everyday at the movie theater while it was out. Back then I lived in a small town (for just over a year) with one movie theater and the people that ran it were friends, so free. It went like: band practice > smoke out at the wharf > eat at the mall > smoke out again > town museum > smoke out again > movie. Like clockwork. We didn't have internet, or TV at home, smartphones, ect. So that was it. Eventually they would have another movie and we'd watch that for as long as it was in the theater.
"As a Romanian we are always happy to see a good impalement being done." If I wasn't already a fan I would be after that. I like people that can make light of their own history and don't take things too seriously.
This movie has a very sentimental place in my life. It is a 10 out of 5 stars for me. I still remember exactly where I was when I heard the news of Brandon Lee's death. Brandon and his dad are buried about 90 minutes south of me in Seattle. I have visited the grave a few times. I have never watched any of the sequels and will never watch the remake.
If you know American culture, you'll know this movie is absolutely universally considered a masterpiece. It's hard to find a movie as beloved over here
For a time in my life I was heavily into Goth culture, and this movie is forever linked to it. Due to my style people said I looked like the Crow. I also bought the amazing comic it’s based on, which goes deep into his mind and memories.
When the Pawn shop gets blown up and officer Albrecht is distracted by looters, the looter carrying the TV from the destroyed shop is James O'Barr, the creator of The Crow comic strip making a cameo appearance. After his death in the scene at Fun Boys appartment, the movie was shelved with the intention of not giving it a release and leaving it unfinished, however, Brandons fiance Eliza insisted that the film be finished using Chad Stahelski (later to direct the John Wick franchise) as Brandon's stand in, and some CGI wizardry, as a tribute to the man she loved. A fitting epitaph it turned out to be.......
8:18 First off HUGE props for you knowing who Sting is that is so cool you're familiar with him! He was one of my favorite back in the day. Sting's Costume in that era was inspired by the popularity of this movie. Before that in the late 80's early 90's he had a "surfer" persona and had short blonde hair and colorful face paint, when he came out with The Crow look, it was the beginning of a whole new era for him and created an absolute legendary persona. It's such a tragedy that we lost Both Bruce and Brandon so prematurely, both of them were primed to be absolute mega stars and their lives were cut so short. I haven't seen the reboot, but from everything I've heard, it's kind of a stinker. The only person I would have wanted to see as Eric Draven in a Crow reboot was Heath Ledger, but sadly that could never happen.
This is my first experience of this channel. It was so fun and I loved it.. Who knew you were so dark and twisty, You're comment " I'd prefer the puddle!" was spot on.. I laughed at your darkness.. And as a Hungarian, I get your delight of the impalement.. We too love a good impalement !! haha.. thank you for this, what a way to discover your other side!!
This movie was based on a gorgeous comic book, that the author based on his true life loss of the woman who loved him, despite the author not feeling he was deseving of love. Brandon Lee was a personal fan of the comic, and heard the movie was stuck in Hollywood Hell, so he stepped in to help make the film right. It was supposed to be his big break, after several promising small movies he had starred in, but he tragically died during filming, just as his father Bruce Lee died after his big break Enter the Dragon. RIP to both martial arts legends.
I only now recognized the bad guy in the car that Draven taped to the seat and crashed to explode. That bad guy played the main bad guy in The Warriors.... the dude that clanked the beer bottles together and sang: "Warriors! Come out and play! Warriooooorrrrrrs!!! Come out and plaaaaayeeeeeeeyaaaay!!!!!"
Devil's Night is also referred to as Mischief Night. Much of the pranks that happen on Devil's Night used to happen the next night on Halloween, and it would even get violent and dangerous in some instances. Trick-or-treating was essentially started to give children something else to do on that night, but the tradition of pranks basically just moved to the night before. Though it had become less violent and usually involved mild acts of vandalism like throwing eggs at houses and toilet paper rolls into trees, it became a night known for cases of arson in cities like Detroit. These days, you hear much less about Devil's Night, possibly because there's far more video cameras to deter the vandalism, or it's possible that people would prefer the relative ease of digitally harrassing people online instead.
This movie's soundtrack was THE soundtrack of the mid 90's music scene. The score is also one for the ages. There were almost as many cuts of this movie as there were cuts of Evil Dead 2. Even though there are something like 5 sequels to this one, as well as a TV series that ran for years, none of them came close to the emotional investment of the original. None of the newer actors apparently had the range of Brandon Lee. Even Billy's portrayal seems like a reskinned Pennywise. The littlest Scarsgard should have remembered his humble, yet seriously decent beginnings on a little 3 season run of Netflix's Hemlock Grove.
Now you know where the inspiration for The Dark Knight's Joker came from. The movie has also inspired many others. I don't know why you even assumed it was a horror movie. This is a comic book adaptation in the field of revenge. Like the Punisher.
A bit of explanation, in case you're not familiar with firearms: Semi automatic (autoloading) firearms cannot function properly with blanks, because they rely on backpressure, and without a bullet in the barrell there is not enough of it to cycle the gun - they have to be especially modified to work with blanks. Revolvers, on the other hand, will work with anything, because the cycling is mechanical, actuated by the trigger. Problem - when a revolver is loaded with blanks, you can see it looking at the gun from the front, so for close-up shots, dummy rounds are used. Only with The Crow, the team did not have professional, inert bullets, so they made their own, by pulling the bullets, and dumping the powder charge, but they did not deactivate the primers (which would have been as simple as sticking the empty case into the gun, and firing it. So when the dummy was "fired", the primer went off, and pushed the bullet into the barrel, creating what is known as a squib load - dangerous when using live rounds, but with blanks, it simply "converted" the blank round into a live one (since there was a bullet in the barrel, so using the blank for the "action shot", Brandon was hit in the abdomen as if it were a live round in the gun (inspections were not carried out, because it was late, and the armorer was no longer on set. After The Crow, rules in the industry changed regarding the handling of firearms on set (until Alec Baldwin fucked up, and killed Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust).
Well you explained it for people who are familiar with firearms - But do you think she understands, "They made their own, by pulling the bullets, and dumping the powder charge, but they did not deactivate the primers" 😂
Thank you Biss for watching this classic. This movie is beautifully dark with touch of light. It is horror but also a tragic love story. Yes, this movie has revenge, but it is much more Eric comes back to take out the bad guys, but to help the good people too..Like Sarah's mom and Ernie the good cop. The remake forgets this aspect and focuses on revenge which is NOT the case...in a way Eric was angel of vengeance and mercy/compassion for those that need guidance. The lines in the movie are iconic and really good lessons. "Each one of these is a life you helped destroy." Truth..the pawn owner was horrible. "Nothing is trivial" Yes appreciate the little things those that love you do...."Mother is word for god on the lips and hearts of all children"...truth. Your daughter is out there looking for you....hits you right in the heart. RIP Brandon Lee..this movie is amazing and never needed a remake. Erine, Brandon and all the cast did stellar job. I think Sting go the idea from this movie :)
Sting based his crow character off of this movie. At the time this movie came out in theaters, he was out with injury if I remember correctly and decided to change his character. Sting was originally supposed to have Hogan's spot in the NWO had Hogan decided to not turn heel but then Hogan decided to do so and this Sting was the babyface/good guy.
This is one of my go to movies (in general and for Halloween), and one I like to try to watch around every Devil's Night. I also enjoy a good revenge movie, but I also really like the love story aspect of it. We don't get much of it, but the flashbacks and chemistry help sell that this was a romantic couple very much in love, happy, and might have had a good life, were it not for their tragic deaths. Also, Sarah and Officer Albrecht help humanize him and Shelly, and give just about the right amount of insight into the kind of people Eric and Shelly were before. And the ending quote always gets me.
This, along with Casablanca, are THE prime examples of what I call a 'lightning in a bottle' film. That is, a film that is far better than it should have been, on paper. On paper, it is a violent, revenge B-movie based on an extremely violent and nihilistic graphic novel. Nothing is really explained very well and the whole film, particularly the many villains, are all two dimensional and other than Ernie Hudson, pretty much everyone in the film is unknown. Brandon Lee had gotten some recognition for being pretty good in some Martial Arts B-movies, but mostly he was still best known for being Bruce Lee's son. Despite all of this, it manages to be a great movie. Brandon Lee delivers a beautiful and darkly poetic performance (not my words, originally, but I whole heartedly agree), the rest of cast, many of whom went on to become well-known character actors, deliver great performances too, delivering far beyond the script and characters. The whole thing is brilliantly shot and brilliantly scored. Even with how good a movie it is, the only reason it was anything more than a cult-classic is the tragic on-set death of Brandon Lee. Studios keep trying to do sequels and remakes, not understanding that why the movie was both good and a mistake is completely unable to be replicated. Really enjoyed your reaction, and your running joke about Romanians appreciating impaling continue to amuse me.
Reacting to one of my favorite movies of all time! Thank you! I knew you would appreciate the impalement! 😉 Again thank you for reacting to Brandon's final performance ❤
I think the jumpiness actually adds to how surreal it feels. It's not 'neat', it's grimy, raw, disjointed and messy. And that's the point. It felt like you never really understand what's happening. Some things are just unexplained, even though the main story was clear and simple. Side note - I was the most blonde, cynical, whitebread, lower-middle-class teenager ever, but this movie still got inside my head and is there decades later.
Should I react to the remake ?

haha thanks, glad you enjoyed it
"Rapid fire" was anouther movie buy brandon lee you might want to watch some day brandon didnt make many movies because he died so young
"Impalement, oh that's nice!" LOL Love you going with it. "As a romanian, we're always happy to see an impalement being done."
If you know American culture, you'll know this movie is absolutely universally considered a masterpiece. It's hard to find a movie as beloved over here
It's hard to find a movie in America, that is as beloved as The Crow. (?? 🤔)
Oh wow, thanks for the info
This is my favorite movie, and contains my favorite movie soundtrack. Sting changed his gimmick to be like The Crow.
Thanks for watching
I only now recognized the bad guy in the car that Draven taped to the seat and crashed to explode. That bad guy played the main bad guy in The Warriors.... the dude that clanked the beer bottles together and sang: "Warriors! Come out and play! Warriooooorrrrrrs!!! Come out and plaaaaayeeeeeeeyaaaay!!!!!"
Havent Seen Warriors
Quite possibly my favorite movie. A perfect little piece of the 90s. Great job, Biss. 🤘😉
The wrestler Sting did indeed base his black-and-white makeup on this character. Great reaction, Biss! ❤
The car was called the "Yugo" in America, but it was a licensed design from a Fiat 128.
This movie is where Sting, the wrestler, got the idea for the black and white face makeup and style.
I love that every time it's a revenge story, your Romanian starts showing😂
"Let her go.."
"Alright" (drops her)
Damn, first time I noticed.

A bit of explanation, in case you're not familiar with firearms:
Semi automatic (autoloading) firearms cannot function properly with blanks, because they rely on backpressure, and without a bullet in the barrell there is not enough of it to cycle the gun - they have to be especially modified to work with blanks.
Here's a bit of small trivia. The car that Skank was driving wasn't a Lada, but a Yugo. Yes, it was an import from Yugoslavia.
Thanks for the trivia
The part where you talked about romania and loving a good impailment made me laugh. 😂😂
Good one, Biss! I enjoyed rewatching this with you. Thanks for sharing it.
My pleasure
Pass on the remake.
Noted
I like when you drop an F bomb & cover it up with a duck sound & picture. It’s funny 😂
Sleepers is a great revenge film.
That pause moment was an in remembrance
My pleasure, thanks for watching the reaction
Sting based his crow character off of this movie. At the time this movie came out in theaters, he was out with injury if I remember correctly and decided to change his character. Sting was originally supposed to have Hogan's spot in the NWO had Hogan decided to not turn heel but then Hogan decided to do so and this Sting was the babyface/good guy.
Nice, thanks for watching
Sting looks like The Crow. Early Sting had short blonde hair and more Ultimate Warrior look in his face paint.
If Batman was a supernatural being and a killer; thats the Crow.
My wife and I had our reception on Halloween. It was masquerade themed so it was both formal and dress-up.
Oh nice
That Sting reference - I never knew that you know WCW Wrestling - I'm impressed. Very cool. :)
bisscute if you could would you do a reaction to the song called it won’t rain all the time from this movie it’s a amazing song 🥺🙏
Maybe someday

This is one of my go to movies (in general and for Halloween), and one I like to try to watch around every Devil's Night. I also enjoy a good revenge movie, but I also really like the love story aspect of it. We don't get much of it, but the flashbacks and chemistry help sell that this was a romantic couple very much in love, happy, and might have had a good life, were it not for their tragic deaths.
Also, Sarah and Officer Albrecht help humanize him and Shelly, and give just about the right amount of insight into the kind of people Eric and Shelly were before. And the ending quote always gets me.
"Victims........aren't we all?" sooooo good
"Mur-de-RAWR!!!!!" I loved his delivery there.
Biscuit I am part Romanian and I agree with you I do love a good impaling of the bad guys makes me feel good
"IMPALEMENT!" 🥰
*Clears throat* Your.. "Romanian" is showing. 😂
Hahaha
Reacting to one of my favorite movies of all time! Thank you!
I knew you would appreciate the impalement! 😉
Again thank you for reacting to Brandon's final performance ❤
My pleasure, thank you for watching
"As Romanian we're always happy to see a good impalement." Heeeeey I see what you did there! 😂
Haha, glad you like it
"Impalement, that's Nice!" Hahahaha
38:35 OMG Qu'est-ce que c'est ? I did NOT expect to hear a Vlad reference today, and from you mon chère... c'est Perfect!
Thats so awesome that you made the connection to the Crow and Sting!
Thank you
"As a Romanian, we always enjoy a good impalement." Funny !!
Best Channel ever .
