Jakes been a huge influence on me as a player. My favorite Ozzy guitarist. The others are all great players, but Jakes phrasing has always just been so amazing to me. Funny, cause my buddy and I were just talking about the raw deal he got yesterday. Ray Gillens caught aids and was spreading it to women knowingly, they got sued, and the label locked up their masters and no longer released their albums. Jake didn't make much money from Ozzy as a hire on, they kept the royalty ownership for all the songs he wrote for Ozzy and ended up broke in Las Vegas. Raw deal. Great playing as always Euge. Nice video.
Shot in the dark is probably the most underrated Ozzy song that’s basically unheard of outside of ozzy fans now a days and that’s criminal in my opinion !! Love your playing!
Jake used a Marshall JCM with EV speakers boosted with a Boss Distortion and a chorus on BATM. On Ultimate Sin I think he used the same Marshall, only it had been modded bythis point, I think by Jose Arredondo. I heard he may also have boosted it with a ProCo Rat, but I'm not sure about it. Never heard him confirm that. Jake still used the Boss Distortion, but just to tighten the Marshall because once the mod was done it needed some tightness, so he had the level up and the drive turned all the way down. You may remember that Boogies used to come with EVs and the five band EQ helped tighten the low end. In Jake's case he used his Boss pedal to tighten the low end because of how much gain he used on Ultimate Sin. Jake and Ozzy were hoping for a heavier mix but Ron Nevison made it a lot poppier sounding than it should have sounded. Ron was hired by the record company to produce a hit album. One thing about Jake regarding technique. He does NOT do things the easy way. He does a lot of stretches for chords and solos. He does what he thinks sounds best. Great player. And you have done a brilliant job of capturing his style. Good job!
@@EugeValovirta230V As one who learned to play a lot of Randy and Jake material back in the 80s, I think Jake's stuff is a bit more difficult to play. Not just BATM, but a solo like Journey to the Center of the Universe and Thank God For The Bomb. They are even harder to play than they sound.
Wow Euge!!! That was flawless playing!! Thanks for sharing the love my brother. No matter what amp you plug into you know how to dial it in!!! Marshall should be paying you!! You are a master of tone and ability!! THANK'S AGAIN for your YT channel!!!! ROCK ON MY BROTHER! 🤪🤟🤟🤟👏👏👍
I have three main contemporary (in my time @80s) heroes: Viv Cambell, J. Sykes and Jake. I absolutely love Jakes riffage and chord voicing - rather sophisticated playing imho!
Jake is my favorite Ozzy guitarist, even more than Randy. I thought he wrote great guitar parts. Too bad is during the Randy, Eddie era or he'd get the credit he deserved (oh and the money, damn you Sharon!). Your playing and tone is always spot on, been binging these vids. Late to the party.
So thorough, perfectly executed, and so much emotion and feel equipped with the perfect tone and the brilliance of your abilities is axiomatic. Truly incredible. Also loved Jake E Lee in Badlands and witnessed his blazing performance up close in the final year of the 80’s at the Palace in Hollywood, Ca. I too saw him with Ozzy in 86 when Metallica opened for them with Cliff Burton on bass. Good times. Thank you for your generosity and time.
Great lessons and that is the tone! I remember how learning the bark solo improved my technique more than maybe any other single solo/exercise before, everyone should do it! Especially those runs in groups of 4, it was a huge step up from just fooling around with pentatonic shapes. And the solo is so good that it's easy to stay focused at it
Wow. Nailed the tone!! It's impressive how much of 80's classic tones come from a boosted JCM800 or Plexi Superlead. The Flange on the solo sounds great too.
My first Ozzy tape was Live & Loud, so I´m more used to Zakk´s version of this song, thanks for bringing back awesome memories... will be on my guitar noodles playlist for tonight!
Just wanted to say I enjoy watching all of your videos. I've been playing for around 30 years, and the last year I've been in a rut. I feel like I needed that kick in the ass. You've made me want to play again. I hope you make more videos. I changed around my home studio and I feel I learned so much, and would love to talk to you about the possibility of Skype lessons soon. Love your tone and gear. By the way , I now own the the Red Wolf digital album which is amazing! I've also been buying from your links. Cheers!
Fantastic playing, phrasing and tone Euge! I really like your interpretation of the solo. Very Jake inspired with your own flavour tastefully added. Rock on!
Thank you Euge. I was looking for a channel like this for a long time. I'd say that I have pretty similar music taste. Love your tone, playing and gear. Cheers!
Euge....you and Alex, the instructor of Guitar Force keep my 60 yr old fingers moving😊 Thanks....so much. Do you know Alex? He never mentions his last name. Ya'll both keep it simple on teaching and are great players. Cant leave out superstar Paul Gilbert. He instructs great for such a guitar hero. Most guitar heros dont teach very well.....
You need to do more song break downs/lessons for Jake and Zakk, both with Ozzy and other projects!!!! Love your tone and playing!!!!! I just recently purchased a 50 watt Marshall Combo from 1982 and Suhr reactive load!!!! Waiting for a speaker cable I ordered, but also been using my Axe FX3 to jam those older Marshall tones, which sounds fantastic too!!!
Espectacular como siempre!!! Sos de los mejores profesores del Internet. Gracias !! Esperando el próximo video de otro gran guitarrista. Abrazo desde Argentina!😃 Y viva el heavy metal 🤘
I love both of those songs and the Shot in the Dark solo. Nice job and thanks for making the video! The strat sounds awesome! Did you make a video for it?
JUST FUCKIN AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jake plays the ways as he does, on the riff, since it sounds more aggressive/has more punch to it. A whole lot a stretches there the man can surely satisfy a woman as he satisfies the guitar!! hahahaha :'D cheers happy friday!

Jake really laid two fantastic LPs> Blizz of Oz. Excellent work, Euge. Y’know, he’d composed the ‘R&R’ riff> Ratt. Strat; the things are friggin’ miniatures, man! 👍🦡
Wicked track to feature! I think I read in an interview that Jake used a Lexicon DDL for those really cool muted triplet parts where the DDL did most of it but am not 100% it's been so long - If true, I think it's cooler picking all the notes like you did ;)
That "Charvel" that Jake played was a Strat too. His buddy worked at Charvel and painted it white for him, and when Jake got it back, his friend had put the Charvel sticker on the guitar. The blue one WAS a Charvel.
Jake's playing always represents 80s metal perfection .. love his work

Fave ozzy song ever! Pure definition of a sunset strip era song!!
It was a huge hit in '86, the big single off that album.
Best song!!!

killer of Giant is one of greatest song of Jake e. lee nice job
Yeah that is indeed 👌. Thanks!
The riffing during the chorus is some of my favorite of the 80s. Just killer.
