Funny you mentioned Jake E Lee and Viv Campbell. Not sure if you know but after Jake E Lee wrote all the rhythms for the Dio Holy Diver album he the got the call from Ozzy to join his band. Viv played all the solos on Holy Diver, which were incredible, so really you got the best of both guitarist on Holy Diver. One of the greatest metal albums out there.

a lot of people talk smack about this album but Jakes parts on it were phenomenal. Some of his best out of the box thinking, phrasing and playing of his career.
Jake E. Lee's guitar work on Ultimate Sin and Bark at the Moon is sooo underrated. I mean, just look at that chord work and guitar arrengement on these songs, the guy was already a very advanced guitar player at that time; beautiful and exotic chords and inversions, great taste for guitar tones and killer vibrato and note choice. He's on the same league of Warren de Martini and George Lynch; southern California guitar players, post-Van Halen guys that were very influenced by them, but took the whole game a few steps further, in therms of creating richer and more beautiful guitar parts. Jake E. Lee; a very inspired player and influential player, and definitly, my favourite Ozzy guitar player of all
The Ultimate Sin is my all time favorite Ozzy album, if not one of my all time favorite albums ever. I still listen to it on a regular basis. So much excellent guitar work on this album. One of the reasons, Jake is my favorite guitarist! Just listen to all those little fills, and unique rhythms!
I'm with you Tim. Ultimate Sin is on my constant replay list. Just like you I love listening the guitar parts over everything else. It's what pulls me to the album.
I have always believed Jake was a wildly creative super Rock God. I am 52yrs. Nearly 40yrs if Rock guitar .... I play and practice. His level for that time extends in to these days . Such good music.... ahhh nostalgia. Good vid.
Excellent job! Jake has such a unique approach to his playing. It’s bullshit how the Ozzy camp treats Jake E Lee like crap. Everyone knows who wrote those songs. Totally immoral.
The album Ozzy had little input on. He was hammered from Drugs and Alcohol during this time. Jake did most of the work. Sharon did Jake wrong. She's a horrible person.
@@jay-shredds NMT kinda has a good bit of filler imo. At that point I think Ozzy was just genre hopping to find something that he could work with. Because…grunge fucked everything up. Great work ,man...Ultimate is my favorite Ozzy album. No idea why it gets a bad rap from some.. Jake is just an incredible talent. Fantastic job you did there Cam.
3 years late, but I’ve read that it’s mostly because of the production. Both Ozzy and Jake had issues with the producer, Ron Nevison. Ozzy says all the songs sound the same, Jake with Bob Daisley wrote practically all songs except ‘shot in the dark’. however, Jake said that working with Ron Nevison was a pain, he said “when I walked into the studio, it was a question of ‘what will we argue about today?’”. Said that Ron would hear songs a certain way, and so the songs had to be wrote ‘his way’ (Ron’s way). Jake’s full creative freedom wasn’t actually on full display on the ultimate sin album I guess.
Great job. Jake is the reason I started playing and the Ultimate Sin album is a ridiculously overlooked masterpiece in my opinion. Jake's playing is brilliant from top to bottom.

Fantastic guitar work on that album, it's one of my favorites for sure. Thanks for putting this up Cameron, great playing. My favorite off that album, even though the riff is not difficult, is Fool Like You. I just love the melody of the harmonics behind those power chords in the opening.
Also, I've never tried to play Never Know Why. That little alternating left hand, right hand sliding down D is pretty slick. It comes across like a delay, but what you did makes more sense. I found a video of Jake playing it and sure enough that's what he did.
