This album means so much to me. My Dad toured with Ozzy all through the Blizzard and Diary tours, starting with small clubs, then as the album sold the clubs turned to arenas then stadiums! My Dad was always away on tour and this album was what I listened too as I knew it was what he was working on (I was 10!) But I got to meet Randy, Rudy and Tommy at Shepperton studios where they were rehearsing for the US leg that Randy ultimately died on and that terrible day was the one day my Dad was not with the band. It devastated my Dad for years. Randy let me play his white Les Paul through the backline, he showed me the A chord! I just wish I could have appreciated the moment more, I was too young! Great job playing these riffs, you nailed it and with your own flavour, a mark of a great guitarist IMO, thank you, many memories just flooded back (as u can see from the long arsed essay!!!)
CAM...you cant really appreciate randys genius until you sit down and try to learn his stuff....randy is lightning fast with laser accuracy...his phrasing and note choice is pure genius...every note counts....i understand the hard work and dedication it takes to play this....but you already know this...great job!!!!!
Oz has had some greats through the years for sure! Randy was a genius for sure. But you can't count out Brad Gillis who did a phenomenal job on the tour and live album. And you can't forget Jake E Lee! But all time fave is Zakk Wylde. Wylde brought something to the table that was awesome. I love Mr Tinkertrain!
I know he's not your favorite player but thanks for doing stuff like this, referencing and playing Randy's music and doing it justice. Its nice to see a young player having such an appreciation for his music. He really was ahead of his time. Keep up the good work Cam. Loving the vids!
Lots of young players like Randy! Solos like Mr Crowley are referenced by my own kids as a staple of accomplishment. Check out the band Liliac (Crazy Train video). Randy is one of lead guitarists heroes. They're a very young all brother and sister band. You'll love it!
Still one of my all time favourite albums, we are lucky we have the three Ozzy albums with Randy, it was is such a pity he was taken so young, a true guitar phenomenon, great job copying these riffs and solos
In my own humble opinion Diary is solidly in the top five best and most influential rock/ metal albums of all time! Randy was one of the reasons I started playing. Excellent job Cameron, love that superstrat!
I'm old enough to remember when those records hit the shelves brand new. It was pandemonium. Keep carrying the torch high Cameron. Great playing and good memories watching the vid.
Im a 50 yr old dude who started playing this exact same music in 1985. Been doing it for a long time. So cool to see a young dude playing it. Usually the young guys waste their talent on the VERY BORING AFTER 5 SECONDS shred style with all the notes, sweep picking, and tapping they can squeeze into a performance. The backing tracks would be the only way to improve this. Well done. Steve
Great job as always! Again I’d kill for your vibrato! Great clean playing and by clean I mean no extraneous noise between notes. Super tight! Keep rocking!
Hellyeah. Love Randy's darker sound on this album. Minor/diminished chords and scales make it almost spooky sounding. 🤘🤘🤘. Good job makes me wanna jam!!!!
@@CameronCooper yeah, you did top 5's, but i loved that you covered EVERY song from the album here. I use these videos to learn how to play the songs from the way you play it =)
A-PLUS.....incredible,as,always...😐...thanks for a vid of my favorite riffs ever,(p.s. Very fortunate to see this concert,boulder,CO.1981...with my own eyes!..brilliant playing kid!!!a monster guitar talent at the least, wish you all the luck in a future band!!!!?????.😯.....great taste in tunes...wow...big fan.land o' lakes,wi.usa.
One of my favorite albums of all time. I still have it on vinyl that I purchased back in the early 80's. Practically wore that thing out as a teenager. Great choice and great job!
Good timing for Ozzy songs! June 6, Cincinnati, Ohio, is my next concert to attend, Ozzy, with Zakk, Megadeth, just lawn seats but any ticket is worth hearing and seeing these guys! Zakk kicked butt at the Cincy Hendrix tribute a few weeks back, best of show easily! Cameron, thanks for test driving the DK24s recently, that made me buy an Okoume DK24 with my tax return this month. It's an awesome guitar and my first Charvel! Thanks for your equipment reviews!
Cam sir! I swear you top yourself every time put out a new video. Awesome, fantastic, that in my opinion was one of your best!! Please do the same for no rest for the wicked and no more tears!!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Dude! The riffs on Diary of a Madman are 🙌🏻 I wish he'd lived long enough to find killer tone! He's my first ever guitar hero and always my pedestal player, but...his tone always left a lot to be desired. Thank god he doubled everything.
I haven't listened to this album for quite a few years, after some heavy rotation. Never liked the production of the record, especially the bass and drums, but always loved the guitar. However this has just reminded me of just how inventive Randy's genius parts are. As sophisticated as some of the stuff EVH was doing at the time. Re-inspired! Thanks!
The drums and bass were re recorded because they fired Bob and Lee kerslake , but then put everything back the way it was supposed to sound , with the original master tapes
I love the sound of that L.P. copy. It almost reminds me of the Appetite tone on the unwound strings. It has that sharp bite! Freaking awesome job on Diary man, just perfect!
Damn! Just got sucked into a rabbit hole of your videos...great playing and riff selections! Just reminds me of what a talent Randy was. Any Jake .e. Lee riffage on the menu (or did I somehow miss it. Just subscribed 😊)? Nevermind, just found it...the rabbit hole continues 🙄

Hey, how did you do learning the solo to 'over the mountain'? Took me a minute to get my fingers going on that one. Lol!

Very nice job, Cameron.

@@CameronCooper Meant alot to me too!
curious, who is your dad?
Yeah who is yo daddy???? I must know
@FloodyBoy Randal My dads name is Henry Mohan, but he was known as Harry. I presume that is the question you want answered.
Omg that tone is incredible
Thank you ;)
Yamaha THR10X provides that tone
Chorus chorus and more chorus
Fuckin rights. Killer killer tone
Ben McCrea really?? I tried one out in a guitar store I couldn’t seem to get a good tone out of it. Probably just me

Randy Rhodes was a genius. The best guitarist Ozzy ever had . He was very unique . Classical driven metal.
Rhoads

Randy was his best jake e Lee a close second.... sorry not a wylde fan
Great job on the flying high solo. One of the best solos ever. Randy would be proud of your skills.

You're right! I loved learning it. :)
Phenomenal rendition of one of the most groundbreaking R.R's riffs and licks!
Great stuff!
Randy Rhoads ... inspiration beyond forever!!
Agreed 👌
Awesome , my go to video for Randy , thanks Cameron.
You legend! Thanks so much Jim!
Great job on the Randy Rhoads .. He was one of a few great guitarist that inspired me to start playing guitar back in the early eighties .. Rock On .
A perfect reproduction of the album, both sound and style.
Much appreciated Joe! :)
100% agree
Tone is really on point :o

Super cool playing,. Conjured some Memories, I was 14 when this album came out. Thanks Cameron , one of my favorite go to channels.
Much appreciated Jason! Thank you so much!
A badass tribute to a truly iconic and godly (if that's even a word) guitar player. I loved every second of it!

Thank you so much! Would you want to see another lesson on vibrato? :)
@@CameronCooper absolutely!
Well done Cameron!!! Very enjoyable. Thanks!
Superb. . The start of sato sounded like 'alex lifeson' to me.
Loving this though. . Saw randy play it all live in 1980. .
And yes it was excellent
That's interesting since it came out in November of 81.
This album changed my life. I was hooked when it first came out. Never heard anything like it. Love Randys writing and guitar skills

Aaah my favourite Ozzy song - Over the mountain...Love your sound and technique Cameron. Keep going😬
Hell yeah! Great tone and great playing! Thinking about picking one of the Edwards les Paul customs. Sounds great!🙌🔥
Dude. That was so enjoyable. Thank you!
That solo to Tonight is beautifully musical. Just a gorgeous solo, particulalry for rock.
I remember when this album came out. I thought these riffs were impossible to play. You just nailed it.
I have been trying to play RR for years. You are extremely good.
Dude that was sick your vibrato is insane , great job man .
Yes!! Subscribed!! Thank you Cameron!!
Brilliantly made video! Please make it for the other ozzy albums, especially Jake E Lee's! \M/

WOW WOW WOW
Total justice for Randy!
Long live Randy!!!!!
Keep it up Cameron!
Put some Randy lessons up!
Nailed it again, don't change 🤘
Thanks so much! :)
I love the tone of the EVH! We recorded in a studio a couple of years ago and used the EVH through an old marshall cab and it just sounded incredible!
Nailed them all. Randy was so ahead of his time.
Absolutely right! :)
The title track is pure genius. Great work.
Inspirational as usual Cam.

It's weird that ''Blizzard'' and ''Diary'' were written and recorded fairly closely together, but ''Diary'' is such a darker album. Good job, btw.
