He's a lovely guy i met him in 1992 after a Badlands show in Bristol U.K ( still have his pick) i was a fan right back to the mid 80s when i first heard Ultimate Sin and Bark at the Moon. Randy and Jake were my favourite Ozzy guitarists.
Jake is one of my all-time favorites! His work on BATM got me interested in guitar and his Badlands material was stellar, just crazy hard rockin blues guitar! He also had a bigger then life stage presence while staying very humble.
Jake knows his tech stuff. Not everyday we can hear what he has to say about his gear. Now He is always my favourite for music, guitar and attitude. Now, where is Paul’s comment about the mystery pedal?
Total legend anyone who had to follow in Randy' s footsteps and pull it off like he did and still sound and make a name for himself deserves more than he got from the Osbourne camp👍
From using carbon based 9v batteries in germanium fuzzes to placing them before any buffered pedal, I learned a lot from this vid. Jake is one of the most underrated guitarists there are!
One of the best guitar players of my youth. Always loved the blue burst ever since I first saw it on the Ultimate Sin video. He's been passed over for much of rock guitar's recognition. Jake always stood out as unique among a sea of copy cat hair metal guitarists. Love ya, Jake! \m/
Yup, & I'd say with even more certainty that the original line up with Bob D. was truly a "world class" rock band. Nearly every bar of those 1st 2 albums kicks some seriously tasty ass.
@Ross Moriarty In those few short hours alone that thankfully did get recorded lies all of the evidence one could ever need. But of course "better" is always subjective to a large extent in the end. I did always find it odd just how many people missed the bus regarding those 1st 2 "Ozzy" albums, & not just RR Vs. whoever but the quality of the "band" itself.
Jake was the guitarist in a band called Teaser when I was a lad in the late 70's. Strat through a Hiwatt loud as hell at Strait Ahead Sound in San Diego. Me right in front stealing every lick I could. One of the reasons I started playing. Nice guy too.
I met him at the Iridium in NY. What a champ. Such a nice person and he loved and signed my guitar. I offered to build him a guitar and he accepted. Cant wait to deliver it to him. Everyone in the band is great. Darren (the lead singer) is too funny. I bumped into him in Manhatten. The drummer Phil is a comedian...
In 1992 my band practiced at Mates in Burbank / N. Hollywood. Badlands was rehearsing there as well. THE LOUDEST guitarist I've ever experience up close. In a tiny room too. The kinda volume pressure where fight or flight starts kicking' in teeth rattling insane shit. Loved it.
Jake has been my favorite guitarist for forever. The thumb technique, which is not easy by the way, really put a staple in setting him apart from other guitarist. And the idea of bends with no whammy bar,,,incredible. A true inspiration to the phrase, " dare to be different. " Awesome !!
3 minutes in I liked this vid, he's just the funniest and humblest guy ever, and boy did he provide me with some ultra-tasty riffs to munch at for days on end

The concert film from Salt Lake City in ‘84 features Jake & Bob Daisley in top form. I still have the VHS I taped from the Much Music “big ticket” broadcast.
I learned more in the time it took to watch this than 30 years of playing. Jake is the true rockstar! Deserves everything good he earned along the way! Sharon needs to pay the man now!
I knew Jake E. way back in his Teaser days at the Straight-ahead Sound rock 'n' roll dance club in San Diego. I used to call him Jake Van Halen, on the occasions that I would run into him, since he covered Van Halen's licks so perfectly. I think that he used to cover Sails of Charon, by the Scorpions, at those shows as well. Great times! Wish I could transport back there. Good to see you still doin' it well Jake. Rock on! Side note: Craig Goldy & Warren DiMartini were hanging around that area as well. Playing in their respective cover-bands. I knew them all. Just couldn't put down the coke and drink long enough to get anything started for myself.
When you hear Jake shoot the breeze so casually about his tone, journey, and guitars one would not naturally assume his impact on so many players. Dude is such a laid back human being but he’s undoubtedly a living legend IMO. I enjoy supporting Jake in any way that I can. 1a. Randy 1b. Jake
One of my favorite guitarists, I can totally relate to the arthritis, after over 25 years of playing you need reinvent the way you play, but never stop playing.....
The lead guitarist for steel Panther mentioned the arthritis thing and I think Dokken’s lead guitarist has some sort of disease that affects his hands. But they still keep playing.

Jake is beyond underrated. The man is incredible. Ozzy found another gem when he got Jake. Bark at the Moon is a beautifully complex song on the guitar. The solo is one of the best ever and to play the song the way Jake played it is almost impossible.
I love trapeze tailpieces for that exact reason, knowing the sweet spots when playing the behind the bridge stuff can really add some cool harmonics to your sound
I was 2nd row in DC for that tour, same as you, on Jake's side of the stage, and he was phenomenal! He ruled that stage like a proper Rock Star! What was also really amazing, was that he did all of Randy's dives just by bending the neck!! (Or at least, that's what I could tell, and remember.)

John Miller shes a real piece work.... useless parasite. Made her millions on others talent.
Agreed
@@MrJackal43 It runs in the family! Sharon learned from the best as Her father ( Don Arden) fucked The Small Faces and many other British bands out of millions. She & her dirt bag father are pure trash.
Jason Young never knew that thanks. Talent brings leeches and filth...
One of the best uses of harmonics. I love his solos. The way he looked. Super cool. Back in the day
People say Jake E Lee and many others are the most underrated guitarists. If you’re still making music and people search for you on RUclips... YOU’VE MADE it! God bless Jake for sticking to his style and tone.
Jake E lee just got shot while walking his dogs. October 15th on a Tuesday early after noon, I was just playing bark at the moon ending solo and main riff cover YESTERDAY. such a cool cat get well soon Jake!
He's a lovely guy i met him in 1992 after a Badlands show in Bristol U.K ( still have his pick) i was a fan right back to the mid 80s when i first heard Ultimate Sin and Bark at the Moon. Randy and Jake were my favourite Ozzy guitarists.
Could listen to Jake talk shop for hours.
My fav OZZ guitarist barre none.
@Yeah Whatever No Q whatsoever imo
Pete Mcgregor there’s really no comparison both had there own styles
Yup, & I'd say with even more certainty that the original line up with Bob D. was truly a "world class" rock band. Nearly every bar of those 1st 2 albums kicks some seriously tasty ass.
@Ross Moriarty In those few short hours alone that thankfully did get recorded lies all of the evidence one could ever need. But of course "better" is always subjective to a large extent in the end. I did always find it odd just how many people missed the bus regarding those 1st 2 "Ozzy" albums, & not just RR Vs. whoever but the quality of the "band" itself.
@Ross Moriarty Yup, thats for sure. Ozzy always did have a knack for finding great guitarists though.
Thank U. Jake for being so humble and showing us your rig......love you and GOD BLESS......
Jake was the guitarist in a band called Teaser when I was a lad in the late 70's. Strat through a Hiwatt loud as hell at Strait Ahead Sound in San Diego. Me right in front stealing every lick I could. One of the reasons I started playing. Nice guy too.
Teaser is the title of Tommy Bolin's solo album, one of Jake's main guitar idols.
The last time I saw him was in 1990 in Arizona with his band Badlands. He had the coolest hair back then. Very seasoned and humble gentleman.
jake practically wrote all the songs on the 'ultimate sin' yet got no credit for it thanks to sharon osbourne.
True. I wonder how he's been able to make a living all these years.
@@josearalat He's had other bands and has managed to maintain a status among musicians so I'm sure he's not financially hurting right now.
@@michaelgraham9774 I'm betting on the wife having a good paying job.
@@josearalat He's worth about $113 mil from all his recording/touring gigs, he's fine haha
@@fenz7219 he is not..not sure where u got that info but its wayyy off !!
Jake inspired me to play guitar back in the mid 80s. Glad to see him still around. Man, what a legend
Badland's first album is still on my mandatory playlist.
I ordered my Bronco Badlands edition and the only music that can be played in her, you guessed it.. Badlands :-)
Every playlist I've had in 25 years
25 minutes passed like 2minutes and a half. Such a nice guy.
Get a video and post it please!
@Chalon Bembry In his dreams...
Did you build him a guitar.
@@stillnotwoke maybe in your dreams NOTHING will be achieved... and yes, I did build him a guitar.
@greg hollis sorry for the late reply. Yes I did build him the guitar and he loved it. I have lunch with him two or three times a year now.
Jake is a living legend! I am a glad we got finally a Rig rundown! Easily my all-time favorite!! Thank you so much Premier Guitar!
Loved it.
Absolutely love this guy’s playing and writing. He’s so unbelievably underrated. His creativity on the Ozzy albums is fantastic 👍🏻
WAY TO GO PREMIER GUITAR, HELL YEAH!
Jake has been my favorite guitarist for forever. The thumb technique, which is not easy by the way, really put a staple in setting him apart from other guitarist. And the idea of bends with no whammy bar,,,incredible. A true inspiration to the phrase, " dare to be different. " Awesome !!
Yeah the thumb chord in BATM is hard as shit to execute smoothly
3 minutes in I liked this vid, he's just the funniest and humblest guy ever, and boy did he provide me with some ultra-tasty riffs to munch at for days on end
One of the best guitarists and song writers in this world.
Badlands was such an awesome band! Still digging the Ozzy years and his RDC band too.
Jake E Lee, the best Ozzy musician of all time!! Bark at the moon is one of the greatest solos of all time. Jake E Lee is one of the greatest musicians of all time, PERIOD!!!
Jake is so laid back and cool.
Would love to meet that dude after a gig have a beer and listen to some stories. And his playing is the best, blues on FIRE!!
Jake E Lee has always been my favorite guitarist from the 80's...next would be his old friend Warren D Martini. Those guys both had a cool style.
What about Vito Bratta?
@@FullMataCorrida I enjoy Vito Bratta's work too.
chord voicings is what those two have down beyond evryone else
I’ll take those two and round them out with Vivian Campbell
YES! NO ONE else does it like Jake! That sound is iconic, live or on record... just tremendous !!!
My favorite Ozzy guitarist
Jake & Randy (R.I.P.) are the two guys who've taught me a lot on shredding.
Mine too, actually
Yup same here 👍🏻
I will never forget first time i saw Ozzy/ Jake live on tv , it was the marathon gala from Dortmund Germany1983 (Also Maiden , Judas ,Leppard + others, That was mindblowing !!!
Matte Wennberg That was great!I love Jake e lee and he was amazing but the guy that amazed me the most at the Dortmund gala was Michael Schenker.Jävlar va impad man va.Fina minnen :)
Aaaaa yeah!!! I was 15 years old and I stayed up all night. Every European hardrock fan must have watched that show. Good old times!
remember it to, remembers jakes solo? guy was a maniac
I was there as well... Awesome time
I was also there!! Front stage right in front of Jake during Ozzy’s set!
No BS with Jake E. Lee, real dude - just it is what it is
Jake is nothing less than a genius on guitar
(Jake E. Lee) my favourite Ozzy guitarist.
Love All the 80's Ozzy guitar player's, love Randy and Zakk but 'a think Jake is probably me favourite out of the 3, Bark at the Moon is probably my all time favourite riff
The concert film from Salt Lake City in ‘84 features Jake & Bob Daisley in top form. I still have the VHS I taped from the Much Music “big ticket” broadcast.
Jake E. Lee is a guitar god, although he uses effects, his style is in his fingers, thanks Premier Guitar for posting 👍
I learned more in the time it took to watch this than 30 years of playing. Jake is the true rockstar! Deserves everything good he earned along the way! Sharon needs to pay the man now!
Saw Jake play w/ozzy at the US festival/Heavy Metal Sunday. Jake kicked ass that day from what I remember.✌❤⚡
this guy needs to write a book . , lived through the 80's metal scene, traveled the world he's seen and done it all
Love Jake. Such a unique, inspiring player. One of a kind.
Great share !
When you hear Jake shoot the breeze so casually about his tone, journey, and guitars one would not naturally assume his impact on so many players. Dude is such a laid back human being but he’s undoubtedly a living legend IMO.
I enjoy supporting Jake in any way that I can.
1a. Randy
1b. Jake
One of the best players of all time.
One of those hidden treasures in U-Tube. Jake is a Class Act... Love you man!!!
@@latsnojokelee6434 I just got to the point in my career that I feel comfortable and confident in my playing, that John 5 or Nuno level. then last month I broke my middle and index left fingers. Ugh, sucks I have months of rehab ahead of me and I hope I get back to where I was prior the the accident...
Wow. Never knew just how cool of a dude Jake is. The world needs more guitar players with this mentality. 🤘🏻
I was lucky enough to see him on the Ozzy Ultimate Sin tour. Great show!
The guys a legend and deserves more for what he did for ozzy. They’re with their millions and talent like his is what made them that money
Great interview as usual John! Jake is the man...Their new album is amazing!
One of the most accomplished shredders in the world. Former Ozzy sideman. Regular looking dude in a hoodie and beanie 😆 Loved this rundown.
Jake is the Man!!! Saw him with Ozzy when I was 11, Mind Blowing!! What a cool Cat!!
Saw Jake on the Ultimate Sin Tour and spent the whole show watching him from about 5ft away. He was just mesmerising. He inspired me to play guitar and cannot thank him enough for the pleasure it has brought me. The intro to killer of giants ge5s me everytime!
Jake - you are classy and I tell you what - I went to see these guys this year, and my head almost came off. Holy cow - what a great show and a must-have album. Patina is killer.
Played a show with Jake. He was SOOO loud. The FOH took him out of the mix and there was no issue hearing him at all. This was in a 750 cap. room.
Jake, as always, played great. This was during the time of the RDC singer carousel.
Underrated player, truly.
Was front row Jake side of the stage Ozzy Bark At The Moon tour in SLC Utah in I think 86... was blown away... Class act guy.
Always interesting to watch these rundowns and Jake is just a killer guitarist!!
Of all the Guitar Players in the World, Jake is one of Them...
🤣
Jake E. Could kill it with a hello kitty 4 string. Love his style and sound. Long live RDC.
Man that ‘Bark at the Moon’ solo.... I freakin’ love that. Killa.
