@@owene2530 Oh yeah I only really go for UCS sets that are scale accurrate unless that scale would be impractical (star destroyers or death stars for instance), otherwise playscale is better.
A way around the plaque sticker placement issue is to provide a brick built jig. I was pleased to learn a jig like this is provided with modern smartphone screen protectors making it foolproof to locate the protector over the phone. It means that the IMO horrible looking injection point can be hidden, and Lego fans can enjoy perfect placement every time. I’m sure some clever bods could knock this up using 3D printer. A set of (stud?) holes in the sticker sheet would be ideal to locate the sheet in the right position for sticker placement onto the plaque piece.
I’m glad you highlighted the delivery problem - my last 2 lego star wars orders have arrived with heavily damaged boxes and I’ve had to complain. Wonder if other people have noticed packaging issues too…?
DHL really takes it to the next level in getting customers all bent out of shape: not just the customer, but their packages too. At least it was a set you aren't thrilled with anyway.
3:04 I wondered how it would look like using that larger R2. 👍🏽Thank you very much for including that in this video. If only this set incorporated that R2 instead..
You just sent me down a small rabbit hole at 1:17 . So In 1997, there was a "Star Wars: Behind The Magic" interactive CD-ROM that had a TON of behind the scenes goodies, starship specs being one of those goodies. On that CD, it's said that a T-65b X-Wing is 12.5m long. However, in the more recently published (and considered canon) Hayne's "Rebel Starfighters Owners' Workshop Manual", it is stated that a T-65b X-wing is 13.4m long. So according to Legends, the T65b X-wing is 12.5m long, and according to Canon it's 13.4m long.
Thanks for turning the review around so fast. Many things to consider going in to next week. And this doesn't make it any easier. 😂 Guess I'll stick with my trusty 75301 and go for the Fang/Interceptor and Executor combo for the GWPs. Assuming they are in stock.
Honestly, I would recommend buying the Lego Technic rescue helicopter set and building the X-wing B-model found on Rebrickable. You get motorized landing gear and opening wings with that and it looks sick too!
Great review. And GREAT outro.... This is the way. (That was crazy shipping damage... lol. It's so odd when a box arrives mangled in bizarre ways. Rarely happens these days. But when it does... it's photo and Exclamation worthy. I'm not talking shipments of anything. Not lego in particularly.)

I'm finding my existence is a bother to some people so I don't know man... Like I said, I don't really care about the box and was genuinely happy that none of the new elements were destroyed for the purpose of this video.
building this now and I find the side panels you have to click in place are very easy to come off because of the I dont know what to call them but they split the two halves and make the move slightly. When I was ready to put the nose on I found these parts come off all the time, also they could have made it that you could put the mini figure in the cockpit but you can't doesnt fit with the canopy shut.Doesnt really join up together well with gaps not lining up but apart from that it's alright!😉
Thank you for the review Tiago. The damage your mail receives is just amazing, this takes #1 in my book. Pure art! Set is a bit of a let down despite all the new pieces, it seems frail and the $240 will make it extra hard to push that "Pay Now" button....
I would really like a set of official UCS starfighters in minifigure scale. They would take up less shelf space and match the scale of some of the other UCS sets better. My current plan is to build some MOC starfighters in that scale, but I would prefer official UCS sets. Just posting in case Lego is reading. 😅
Great video Tiago, I would love a video on your inside knowledge of Lego costs. In this day and age I believe it would be a very hot topic to put the greed argument to bed of could be.
My problem is that we had so many X-Wing ships through the years, and LEGO still hasn't made the fuselage accurate. Let me explain. If you watched the movies, you will notice that the fuselage has an inclination that follows closely, if not fully, the angle of the cockpit's windshield. That offers a more aerodynamic look to it. All of the sets made by LEGO however have always had the fuselage fully horizontally with maybe an additional plaque in the later iterations possibly to give the illusion of an angle. I can understand the original models being like this, but now LEGO has evolved so much over the years, I think it shouldn't be impossible for them to make this angle.
I'm not done with mine yet, but the wings are "locked" with a rubber band setup... Maybe the weight of the wings will lessen the effect, but it seems like that would be an easy fix by doubling up the rubber bands?
I probably won't get this because I don't see myself having $240 to drop on a Lego set any time soon, but this is definitely the most appealing UCS set to me that's currently available for under $300. It honestly doesn't even seem like a bad value for how big and well-designed it is. $200 would be better, but when I first saw the pictures, I was expecting it to be much more than it is.
Thanks Thiago for being impartial even when Lego has sent you for free the set for review. Honestly...it looks kinda boring and It doesn't look great for a UCS model. The front area looks really weird, the back area looks exposed and not "displayable". When you put the set in "attack mode" It looks flimsy and needs to be displayed horizontally in order to not bend the wing more than the standard position by gravity, so it seems like It will not be possible to display It in other positions. And the stickers, the plate with that hole, not giving at least the R2D2 big head like that UCS Obi Wan Starfighter...IDK It looks like they didn't put a lot of effort to create this set, specially for a UCS set released during the Maythe4th days.
How do you ship a plain cardboard box *so poorly* that you actually manage to damage parts of its contents, which are just *loose pieces of solid plastic*?
I do think mension should be made that getting replacement parts (or sticker sheats) from lego because they are damaged or missing is very easy and quite fast. I dont know if this is the case everywhere as i'm from the Netherlands but still it is a no question asked system which is quite kind as I know from personal experience this system can be misused to get for example a second sticker sheet
I agree on the price that should have been $200 , with additional consideration of the current exchange rate. It costs $270 using the exchange rate 5 years ago.
Hey Tiago! I noticed you said "prints raise a set's price". Do you have any notion how much an extra 2x2 Tile would cost to print as opposed to have a sticker for it? And how would that scale in a small set (a 10 Euro one) vs. a huge one (300-400 Euro)?
The original UCS T-65 was 12.5 meters long. There’s different versions of the T-65, including one with longer dorsal engine exhausts compared to the ventral engines. I don’t know if the T-65B, C or other variants were specifically said to correspond to any particular one screen fighters.
They should have used an actual Technic mechanism for the s-foils instead of the mostly brick built one. It might have made them less flimsy. As it is they open too far, and don't close all the way as they should. Makes it feel cheap, I think.
I'm torn... I still have my previous version of the ucs x-wing mint in box (set 10240) as my definitive Lego x-wing fighter. Should I sell it to get this one? I just not sure, I can't decide. :(
I feel like the play scale sets for the x wing are much better as they are correctly scaled to the mini figure and the droid and above all are much cheaper
I think my main issue is that the photos and box make the model look FAR more stubby and strangely proportioned. When you see it rotated around in three dimensions it looks pretty decent. I'm not a Star Wars guy so I will be skipping this, but it's not a bad looking set!
