7:10 I’m glad you brought up the Razor Crest here. That’s definitely more my style of UCS set because it has a full interior & everything. While the Venator is a cool display model, the Razor Crest just has so much more play value that I can appreciate a lot more that this model doesn’t have & that makes all the difference for me personally, especially when buying a set this expensive. Definitely agree about the UCS Razorcrest. Additional characters, and a fully accessible interior I feel make all the difference here. Still this has been a very long awaited release and update so if money, and space isn't an issue for most fans it's sure to do very well despite the price.
The lack of interior is particularly sad, given that they modeled the Clone Wars Venator. For those not familiar with the ship from the show, that long red stripe across the top. That’s not just a stripe. Those are two massive hanger doors. The difference between the Venator and the Imperial Star Destroyer is the ISD is a Battleship. The Venator is an Aircraft Carrier. It has a full length flight deck and hanger space beneath that stripe. Which then connects to the side hanger doors and the bottom one. It would have been so nice to give us a mechanism where you twist one of the engines and the hanger slides open revealing all the detail underneath.
The fact that the hangar bay, which is the literal open length of the ship doesn't open is an utter deal breaker. After maybe the double bridge design, it's the singular defining part of what makes a Venator a Venator

I'll never understand how there can be stickers in a hugely expensive set like this. Especially since there aren't that many, would prints be too much to ask for? Other than that, I think it looks great. That said, I kinda wonder if it wouldn't have been better if this had been smaller, and about half the price. I thought you will mention the problem with the 20th Anniversary brick... cause its 2023, so it was originally either ment to be released last year, for the 20th Anniversary of Ep. 2 Or, should have been 15 years, cause the TCW aired in 2008. Guys...it is too expensive! There is no way to sugarcoat this. It is 650,- for 5400 parts. It is just way too expensive. That thing AT LEAST should be 100 bucks cheaper and even then, we'd talk a shitload of money. A "comfortable" price for me would be 500! Other manufacturers (I am not talking copycats) showed, how...yeah "worthless" these bricks are and that is coming from someone, who is SURROUNDED by them. Someone, who has the UCS SSD, ISD, New Falcon, Imperial Shuttle Slave 1, X-Wing, Y-Wing, A-Wing and a whole host of other Lego things. I LOVE bricks, but this is just getting ridiculous. You can't even justify it with quality, because Lego bricks have dropped over the recent years, with color inaccuracy and visible injection mold traces, all paired with those garbage stickers, that are now disintegrating on a bunch of my sets, like the UCS X-Wing. I since moved to other manufacturers, that offer MORE for LESS and again: I AM NOT TALKING COPYCATS! I am talking about proper licensed, OR original stuff. A good example is COBI. Their quality is just amazing. They're not the cheapest contender, but they're pretty much, what Lego used to be, which is also ironic, if you consider, that they're basically using the old Lego-complexes, before Lego moved to China. Lego is now basically using the same manufacturer, as everyone else, don't kid yourself. At day, they're making Lego, at night they're making everything else, including the knock-offs and Legos Quality shows that, yet they're still INSISTING on these prices. "Yeah, but licensing-costs and stuff!" - Yeah...doesn't matter. If Disney wants THIS much money for a franchise, that is basically living off of nostalgia, because the last set of movies was a DISASTER, then they're as crazy as Lego, which is fitting. I am not saying, that this is a bad set. It is not. I really like it, but any good product, can be a bad one, if the price isn't right and here, it is not!
@TiagoCatarino Technical question ... for the paneling is it held down with ball joints with studs on the super structure like the star destroyer or did they do something else like use pins to hold it all together. On the ISD there was a section for the top bridge area that litterally just slots into a plate with a hole in it using a single smooth rod protruding from a couple of technic pieces but it was anything but secure. Are the paneling connections on this better than those?
The panels are very well secure with ball joints at the place where they hinge, and then locked somewhere else so it doesn't move. The big red stripe is only held by 2 clip plates, but that section is somewhat heavy so it won't go anywhere
I just can't look at sets like this without getting excited about checking out the interior, it's half the fun for me. Probably not the most suitable set for an interior anyway, but I think it's a shame. Even if I had the money I'd probably pick another set instead, the razor crest maybe
Impressive but so big. Rex being an exclusive hurts to me. I’d love to see this ship made smaller like they did with the Super Star Destroyer set from earlier this year.
No idea how did you manage to build the engines that bad. Mine are perfectly fine and they doesn't fall down a milimeter at all. And no idea why people thinks that interior really can add nothing to the final product. At the end these giant builds will be covered in dust and nobody will open the thing to see nothing inside. For me it is just perfect as it is.
I wonder if it's good or bad that it has so huge empty spaces on the inside. When picked up it feels sturdy, but when panels are touched, it seems flimsy.
I am the sort of person that this set is marketed to but i am giving this a miss due to the lack of interior. Even as a 50+ year old bloke (person) i still want to "play" with, hande and interact with, not just stare at it. My body may be old but my mind and imagination are still young.
But the Venator also has a lot of tiny pieces! All those technic pins and small elements for the greeblies and such. I get your point and I thought about it but it's still an 800 piece difference for $50 less within the same constraints of theme and IP. It does make me wonder where the money went for both models!
Looks amazing on the outside but the lack of interior is a big letdown. I think you missed out on a big question that a lot of fans will ask. How does this compare to the Imperial Star Destroyer 75252 set?
I don't mean the size, I meant the set as a whole. Your thoughts on the two sets as a whole since a lot of fans are going to be comparing the sets and wondering about that same question.@@TiagoCatarino For example, the Venator seems to have done a much better job on the seams and handling, at least based on your video.

@@TiagoCatarino Thank you for the info, ill probs be adding this one to my collection then.
I just can't look at sets like this without getting excited about checking out the interior, it's half the fun for me. Probably not the most suitable set for an interior anyway, but I think it's a shame. Even if I had the money I'd probably pick another set instead, the razor crest maybe
TLG joins the shiptember community ;)
Ahah indeed!! Good times :)
Its cool but the lack of interior makes it way down the list. Republic gunship or Falcon for my first $1000 set.
The set number is a hint to Rex, 75367 without the 3. Think about it
Razor crest has a lot of tiny pieces so does the 800 piece difference matter too much? Enjoyed the review though!
But the Venator also has a lot of tiny pieces! All those technic pins and small elements for the greeblies and such.
I get your point and I thought about it but it's still an 800 piece difference for $50 less within the same constraints of theme and IP. It does make me wonder where the money went for both models!
@@TiagoCatarino fair enough that’s a respectable opinion. What do you think of the play scale razor crest? :)
Never built it so can't really say!
@@TiagoCatarino If you like the smaller Star Wars sets that look good on display it’ll fit in well :) have a great weekend!
Why I can’t buy big Lego sets:
I don’t have space to put it
I don’t have any money
I will definitely knock it over at least once after I build it
Looks amazing on the outside but the lack of interior is a big letdown. I think you missed out on a big question that a lot of fans will ask. How does this compare to the Imperial Star Destroyer 75252 set?
I literally have an image with the size comparison! What do you mean? 😂
@@TiagoCatarinoyeah I don't think he watched the full vid
I don't mean the size, I meant the set as a whole. Your thoughts on the two sets as a whole since a lot of fans are going to be comparing the sets and wondering about that same question.@@TiagoCatarino For example, the Venator seems to have done a much better job on the seams and handling, at least based on your video.
Yea, you're wrong about that.@@zaidiatoranimation3947
Oh I see! Well, I don't have the ISD so I couldn't really tell!@@dtan3902
No doubt us Australians will be paying around the $1200 mark.
Aaah those sagging engines 😭😭😭
the only problem I have is the lack of waist cape on capitan rex but other than that its perfect
Thank you
what scale is this? 1:2000?
“Wulf Yoolarin” 💀
How did I not know about this?
