Usually LEGO retires sets after two or three years of production. The fact that this set is still on the market after five years shows that it is still selling incredibly well.
You forget to mention those fees include sales tax and even if it reaches lego retail price, that retail price has to tack on the sales tax and from there on Stock X still seems viable.
If so, additional to mention that not buying directly from LEGO means they don't get the profits to support the company, and you won't receive VIP Points of any free sets given away with certain price points. A set of this price will give probably $50-60 (approximate guess), with 1 or 2 free sets depending when bought, is easily $100 of value after purchase in the form of extra and free LEGO for another purchase
Stockx also has massive issues with authencity. Nike has already proved that with their shoes, so in this case, very high chance that you're getting a lepin instead of Lego.
It feels very old and nostalgic, cause most of these LEGO boxes for the sets have a realistic background while the more recent ones (Titanic, The Pyramid of Giza, etc.) are pitch black. Another thing about the set is that the pieces. In person, the set looks very big with the of pieces in exterior view. The pieces inside is probably the most. I love this set for it's exterior look. It look complex at first but once you start to really see the potential for creativity, the set will feel like a whole spaceship being built and in progress.

Even though the Millennium Falcon is my favorite spaceship by far and I've even spent thousands of hours over the course of six years working on my own 1:70 scale model, I still think getting this UCS set wasn't such a smart idea since it's taking up about a fourth of my building table (and has been sitting there since 2017, since I don't have any shelves large enough to fit this hunk of junk.) What everyone seems to forget is how this model doesn't just take up space when you build it, but actually every day and every night in the future. The falcon isn't particularly high, but its footprint is insane. The UCS AT-AT could probably be crammed into the darkest corner of a room, but unless you feel comfortable mounting the Falcon on a vertical display stand, it takes up enough real estate for Mr. Ditkovich to ask for rent.
Such an impressive set! I'm not the biggest Star Wars fan, but this is truly epic. This is one set I'd love to build, but unfortunately I just have no way to properly display it...
Since you mentioned wanting a full interior, perhaps it would be a cool chance to check out the brickvault UCCS millenium falcon. It is a third party set but I think it would be a cool comparison and would provide the unique insight of an actual lego designer looking at 3rd party building techniques and designs.
I have the UCS Millennium Falcon, and I still feel slighted for not getting R2D2, Luke Skywalker, and Lando Calrissian, considering all three of them were in The Empire Strikes Back.
I have the new UCS set now, but I used to have first one before it got sold at a garage sale while I was in a different state... along with the Death Star II... those sets are my Holy grail now
As much as I love Star Wars, I hope this is the last UCS falcon for a long while. As you say we’ve already had 2, a third isn’t necessary. What I’d rather see redone in UCS is the Imperial Shuttle and B-Wing. 2 amazing sets that could be even better redone.
They'll prioritise original trilogy sets for UCS for sure, but with the falcon probably being one of the best-selling sets of all time, I'm not sure they won't make a different, more expensive one that is inflation adjusted, has some more interior and maybe exclusive minifigures to excuse the much higher price. I expect about 5 years without a falcon before they bring it back, though.
Thank you for recommending Stockx, it's always so difficult to find LEGO sets cheap. One of the few times I'm actually glad with a sponsor of a video on RUclips!

a big point of the original 10179 is that it was "swooshable" and you could hold it by the inside structure after removing the top center panel. (I have one of those, numbered :-)
One of the best builds I've done - up there with the UCS AT-AT for sure! The final model size is impressive, to say the least, but the build experience was very well designed - not a "structure then panel" build like the UCS Star Destroyer.
Only really like the Star Destroyer out of those as the ATAT more so than the Falcon are nothing to hold your breath over i've seen them in person and the Star Destroyer is the only one that gets me the playscale version for the other two will do just fine but the Star Destroyers size lends well to UCS and has a more grander feel.

Great video 👌 I'm currently in the process of finally building mine after owning it for a few months. Very enjoyable build. Definitely happy I invested in more sorting trays for this one!
There are third party kits available to build a vertical (well, nearly vertical) display stand. It works quite well and reduces the footprint of the model by a LOT. Mine is currently sitting next to my monitor on my computer desk, and my desk is not very large. It tips it up on it's side with the cockpit up top. The panels on the top that are just laying there still stay put just fine. After placing it where you want it you may have to fiddle with the panels, but mine are all in place and haven't moved or fallen off in the several months it's been sitting there. I will say if you want to go this route you should definitely do what I did and purchase the stand before assembling the Falcon. It's much easier to attach when the build is about halfway done than after it's fully assembled. Once you have the bottom of the ship finished, but before you start putting the outer panels on the top, is the best point to attach the stand. Otherwise you need to remove all the panels that are designed to lift off the top, and the radar dish, and then very carefully flip it upside down and lay it on some pillows. Then you can attach the stand, and once it's on it makes a nice handle to move the ship with.
Back in the day I wanted this so much I considered buying the knockoff version, nowadays though I question what the point of having a minifigure scale model without full interior is
Nice video! Funny because I only got it last November after i got the UCS AT-AT! (It's simply a must-have, right?) A school district program that I’m doing is still using the LEGO Mindstorms EV3 but getting rid of them next year… probably to throw them away. My friend and I had so much fun making it, and called him “Hotmess” or “Hot Pocket” due to the large wires swinging all over the place. I added a bunch of antennas and added a long stick for the touch sensor thing too. This inspired me to start doing LEGO again but sadly my school is replacing them with the Sphero BOLT as a newer “robot” for the program. I will miss the “obsolete” EV3 that we had good memories with programming and such. :)
In my case the bags where not put at random but in matching build order. I bought it from Lego 2 years ago now but I don’t know any good reason why they would change that. Perhaps is it done manually and you had a set packed on a Friday 😅
How do you feel this compares to the UCS Star Destroyer? Just got mine and was considering picking this one up - I absolutely love the size and the look of the ISD, but the details on this look incredible.
I had a chance to buy this years ago and passed. So when I got the chance again last year, I finally pulled the trigger and bought it. And I have to admit- I have never regretted buying a Lego set more than this one. Don't get me wrong- it looks great when finished. But my problems started when I opened the box and found out that Lego had packed it backward, and that the instructions were on the side it told you NOT to open. Then there was the fact that all the bags were mixed up between the four interior boxes- I figure they learned from that and started organizing them better in later sets. Then there was building it, and I have never had more problems putting a set together than this one. Those engines in the rear would pop off every time I had to shift the model- I finally ended up supergluing them in place. And moving it is a chore. I thought about getting a stand that puts it up on its side, but now I'm terrified to do that, because the last time I had to pick it up (like directed), I still managed to knock a bunch of pieces off. Just an unpleasant experience from top to bottom. The only upside is that it looks great (though out of scale) next to my UCS Star Destroyer.
Still working on mine and boy is this set sooooo fragile. Pieces barely want to stay together and the pizza shaped fuselage is a pain to keep together too so be weary because this is a very frustrating one to get done.
I bought this the other day on a sale which is around £570. The original retailer price is still nearly £800 so it was a bargain. I haven't opend it yet and im debating if i should. If i open and build it will it lose value in years to come?
I really wanted to buy this set, but where i live (in Italy) i can't find it anywhere plus that costs a lot of money and even if i have it my father doesn't let me spend all that money for a lego set even if the money are mine. But there's another problem, the set is so big that i don't really know where to put this in my room
few years too late? Depends if that was before the price jump. The set is supposed to finally retire this year which makes me wonder how far we are from yet another UCS of the Falcon. Very cool despite just being a casual Star Wars fan. But sadly I don't have room for it...
What kind of sick person doesn’t like Technic!?
A lot of Lego fans?
I really wanted to buy this set, but where i live (in Italy) i can't find it anywhere plus that costs a lot of money and even if i have it my father doesn't let me spend all that money for a lego set even if the money are mine. But there's another problem, the set is so big that i don't really know where to put this in my room
few years too late? Depends if that was before the price jump. The set is supposed to finally retire this year which makes me wonder how far we are from yet another UCS of the Falcon. I kind of wish they would take a break from it.
That said... I just started building up my falcon collection and I need to shell out for the $800 set before it retires.
Impossible to build for me. My building desk is only 40 x 60 cm. And the price of the set.
I have the smaller version and i love it
