Personally don’t mind stickers, but I find it inexcusable with premium top shelf sets like this. For this price I expect nothing less than perfection, regardless of size and piece count.
For $650, prints should be required. Not that many stickers is good, but none would be better. I would love to see people mod this set to include a hanger bay, It would probably require a complete redesign of the skeleton structure. But it would have been very cool for display value. Would have liked a kama for rex, but 3rd party websites sell them for dirt cheap. Otherwise it’s a perfect figure.
Venators are my absolute favorite Star Wars (and probably scifi) spaceship; I'm really glad Lego made a fantastic-looking UCS set for it. Thanks for such an extensive review!
This model is absolutely gorgeous, and I'd have done anything to get it as a kid. But. That being said. The UCS AT-AT, and the Razor Crest, came with a full usable and interactive interior. Sure, this has a bigger visual footprint, but even so at that price I feel like it should've either come with decorated interior parts like the Millennium Falcon or a larger figure count akin to the AT-AT.
Star Wars Greeble "belts" are by far one of the best litmus tests for if a designer has figured out Star Wars in my opinion. Too much and it's more borg cube and too little and you get in generic territory. Beautiful set!
Great video! I’m still building mine but so far I personally really like the build experience. It feels like my kitchen table has been transformed into Kuat shipyard once the main frame was built.
I love your calm and soothing review style. Calms me right down after a stressful day. You’re like the Bob Ross of Lego reviewers. Keep up the great work! I was saving up Lego points to buy this set but I couldn’t resist that 30% off sale on the Razor Crest so I bought that instead and it arrived today. But I hope to get this set eventually.
It’s really well designed and detailed for the most part, but there are some odd little decisions or restrictions that make it a bit meh. I wish it had the maw to open up! And Rex definitely needs printing on the sides of the legs.
I love the set, but the price is just too much for me, especially this year with the cost of living getting so high. Hoping we see the Captain Rex figure in a more affordable set in the future.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this model of the Venator! It is amazing that you spend so much time and money on this hobby! Thank you for making free videos for us to be able to view and enjoy your hobby with you!!
I certainly should have waited a couple years to get this at least 30% off like the Gunship and Razorcrest were discounted recently, I have bad self-control and just couldn't wait lol. What an amazing model.
I’ve saved up for this set but probably gonna wait for a may 4th discount hopefully on Lego similar to the razor crest which they did last year for a 100 points for £100 off
I did not expect you to review this so soon. Thank you Jang! This is one of the only UCS sets i'd actually want. But I simply can't afford this. I hope we'll get a Midi Scale version eventually and both Yularen and Rex as minifigures in cheaper sets. I actually own both of their old versions but these are prime minifigs! Would really hope they re-release both but i think they will remove the print from Rex's arms to make this one more special.
even though this is a "collector's set" I feel like there should DEFINITELY be some functions, like an opening bay and even a TINY interior to put the figures. Not necessarily enough to play with it, but enough to make poseability an option
I was planning on getting it day 1, but my local LEGO store had it on display at a weird tilted angle and it made it seem so flat and small, especially compared to my UCS Star Destroyer. I plan to get it eventually but this video showed how much taller it is than what I saw initially, I’ll probably buy it once there’s a good acrylic display stand for it
I love this. As a Clone Wars fan, I have always loved this. Way more than anything else in it's scale. The only thing I would like LEGO to do, is some bigger playset style UCS sets. Like Cantina or Cloud City being the latest.
Based on my experience with my existing 5 UCS sets (A Wing, R2 (if you count R2 as UCS), Gunship, Land Speeder and X-Wing), I'm expecting I'll be able to pick this up for between 20% & 30% off if I wait until next year - based on Jang saying it's worth $500, I think if & when I see it at those kinds of discounts, I'll grab it.
For some reason, this review and this model woke up in me that feeling I had watching Clone Wars series and 2nd and 3rd prequal movies. I even heard a music. it is very nice and compact and even thou I don't collect UCS sets and I am not from US, $500 is max of the max I think this should cost.
I really enjoy the look of this ship, but like Jang said, for over 600, all the hangar doors should be able to open. Especially when the main hangar was featured so often in the shows and movies. Unfortunately, Lego seems to be losing some of their magic and motivation for these Ultimate Collector Sets.
Never been a fan of that shape of Destroyer. I am a lover of the classic pointed wedge shape from A New Hope's opening battle. Love Jang's work here to let me take a close look without buying.
Great set: in size and and in form. It is a very clever design. Amazing how it stays together. The bottom is just attach with some pins, clips amd rubber pieces. No interior, but that would have bumped up the price towards the 1000,-. Plus I doubt it will hold the extra weight. I really enjoyed building it, ok their are better builds, but I enjoyed it. Hard to form an opinion of the pricetag, but I think you are right. Though it has a lot of big parts, and I think a lot of costs went into the design, but even then. I would say 600, but like you said it depands on someone's pov (and how big your wallet is). Ow about those 6x6 tiles. They cannot be printed, due to the moldmark in the middle. That would leave a gap in the print of the republic logo. On the other hand, if they used tan tiles and printed the outside, that problem was solved. Off topic: will you review chewbecca? I am still doubting if it is worth it, so am curious what you think about that set.
I guess I can accept the UCS not having opening doors. Would b nice if a few years from now a playscale set comes out (similar size and price to things like moff gideons cruiser and the most recent playscale ISD) with doors that work
Thanks for that detailed and in-depth review, JANG. This is a really detailed and spot on representation of the Venator. I appreciate you showing the underside and there is some detail included there as well. That's too bad about having stickers in a high end set though. I don't know why the Clone Wars 20th Anniversary brick is included. I guess just because we happen to be on its anniversary, so LEGO threw it in. But, although the 2003 Genndy Tartakovsky Clone Wars seriew may not be as known or loved as CGI one, it is still a really great series, even though it's not canon for some reason. It is also the inspiration and the precursor of the CGI series.
Love the review, there are some out there but only jangs was entertaining. But I have one suggestion: you have it in your background, what about a comparison? ;)
great set, maybe one day I'll own it! Need more space though, after UCS AT-AT, UCS Star Destroyer, UCS Gunship, UCS Razor Crest, and the countless smaller sets.
Regarding cloth kamas in general, if a kid was finding it annoying to play with the figure when the kama was on, they could just take it off, that's what I did with my 2008 plastic kama. It's Lego, thats not exactly hard to do. As a kid I liked the ability to both have the kama on when I made my few Clones fight my Battle Droids and have it off when I sat him down. Lego does not have an excuse, especially in a $650 18+ collecters item.
I have always found the mould mark in the middle of the display plaque to only be an issue when lego covered it up in photoshop for press releases of the X-wing. False advertising should not be tolerated.
definitely agree on 500. i dont know what it is, i would never actually utilize any play features, but i just HATE when there is absolutely no interior details... something like the even the super star destroyer showing just a LITTLE bit of interior would have been much better.
Incredible model for sure! Price is also... incredible! LOL I can't wait to see this model on display in my local Lego Store, because it's too big for me to own, but it's certainly impressive!
I got this off eBay for around 400 pounds and honestly I don’t care about the mini figs because I never wanted them, I was solely interested in the ship and I’m glad I could get it with a pretty big discount without removing anything I wanted
Very good review. However, at the whopping $849 CAD price tag. This is me favourite Lego set. It’s an absolute monster, has a strong presence in the display. I love it so much, I go and look at it everyday when I come back from work!
Thanks for the honest review. I'm having trouble even believing it's worth $400. I just see too many shortcuts (biggest one no interior) and not much to do with the model (it's purely display). Yep- a lot of detraction from what could have been an incredible set. For $650 you can basically build a small Lego town with lots going on, many figures and vehicles. Yeah I know this is a Star Wars set, but that doesn't mean it can't be fun and good value.
Personally I wish the main hanger doors opened just so we had another option to display say a shuttle or fighters coming out. To me that massive hanger is the defining feature of the venator it’s basically an aircraft carrier. I know why they left it shut but i wish it weren’t so
imho they should make all ships to the same size as the star wars armada table game. With added pieces so you can adapt the ships visually and play the game. with lego. yes. that would be a dream
I feel kinda funny you guys saying that 650usd is expensive, while where I live this same lego costs the comparative equivalent of 6500usd. I WISH i could buy it for only 650
Thanks Jang. And I agree of the price. But let's face it, this is a Collector's Model and has been wanted for so long that people will pay. And Lego knows it.
I really liked this, but the price is crazy to me, bought the star destroyer for 600€. I ain't paying 650€ for the venator when it is significantly smaller. Hoping for a big discount.
My all time favorite Star Destroyer. I've been waiting about 20 years for a UCS Venator since I saw a large-scale Lego model at Celebration III. Going to pick one up. However, and minor nit pick here, I really feel Rex should've had a cloth kama as he has the cloth shoulder pauldron, especially as this is a premium set, also I feel there shouldn't be stickers for the same reason.
I heard lego can't print on 6x6 tiles because of like the injection mark on the top center of the tile? It messes up the print so they had to use stickers for those
Indeed a very nice display model, thanks for the review But at this price point i just don't want to see stickers and "printed on" cloth pieces. Even for smaller sets we are paying a premium price for plastic, so for this scale, for this price it is just ridiculous.
I always wait for Jang’s thoughts before making a decision. I don’t distrust other reviewers but I feel like I can depend on Jang to give a more pragmatic opinion given that he pays for them out of his own pocket. Thanks Jang! Kindest regards.
agree with your review 100%... The Venator is by far my favorite Star Destroyer. This UCS set looks absolutely fantastic. However...the price point is waayyy too high. That being said, I'll still get one but I definitely won't feel I got value for my money. Perhaps that may change when I see it built and on my shelf but I don't know. Lego knows they have SW fans by the short hairs with these sets and that's unfortunate.
A few adjustments to the model and it _could_ be more appropriate in price - the side and top hangar doors should be able to open and close; the bottom should be more accurate with a complete hangar and I think a few more microscale builds could be added to show off the true scale of the Venator (an Arquitens or CR90 for example). The six stickers are huge - I'd hoped for either printed pieces or some brick-built alternative, particularly for the Open Circle Fleet symbol, and really for a UCS set it is disappointing to have any stickers at all. I'd also expect some additional pieces to enable a colour swap with the bridges, much like the Chevy Camaro set. There's also the missing "front" hangar on the tip of the nose of the ship, though given the large doors don't open this is somewhat understandable. I enjoy the idea of the set but for the price it falls a little short in my opinion.
When Jang calls $500 a half a grand it really reminded me of the high cost.
Great review as always and I learned so much.
A set hasn't really been reviewed until Jang has reviewed it.
And that's a fact
Personally don’t mind stickers, but I find it inexcusable with premium top shelf sets like this. For this price I expect nothing less than perfection, regardless of size and piece count.

Great video! I’m still building mine but so far I personally really like the build experience. It feels like my kitchen table has been transformed into Kuat shipyard once the main frame was built.
That first shot really put into display how big this set is, great review!
I love your calm and soothing review style. Calms me right down after a stressful day. You’re like the Bob Ross of Lego reviewers. Keep up the great work! I love the set, but the price is just too much for me, especially this year with the cost of living getting so high. Hoping we see the Captain Rex figure in a more affordable set in the future.
I really appreciate when you compare Lego models to other products on the market, it helps bring the price back to realty sometimes
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this model of the Venator! It is amazing that you spend so much time and money on this hobby! Thank you for making free videos for us to be able to view and enjoy your hobby with you!!
So glad you picked this up.
Been watching you for years Jang, since I was in high school.
Always loved your hard work
We all know what this ship’s guarding with the full might of the Republic: the exclusive and highly desirable minifigs.
I certainly should have waited a couple years to get this at least 30% off like the Gunship and Razorcrest were discounted recently, I have bad self-control and just couldn't wait lol. What an amazing model.
Whoah! I had no idea you're going to bless us with this review so soon!
What a beautiful thing!
Thank you so much for showing it off!
Jang + venator. This is a good day
I’ve saved up for this set but probably gonna wait for a may 4th discount hopefully on Lego similar to the razor crest which they did last year for a 100 points for £100 off

If there ever was a UCS I’d buy it’s this
even though this is a "collector's set" I feel like there should DEFINITELY be some functions, like an opening bay and even a TINY interior to put the figures. Not necessarily enough to play with it, but enough to make poseability an option
Love your reviews Jang. Definitely the most honest and upfront reviews of Lego sets that I've found on RUclips. Keep up the great content!
Thank you so much Jang for continuously providing us top-notch reviews such as this one!
Definitely my favorite looking UCS SW set

The cloth piece is my on issue with this set (I’m so over the helmet holes) the build itself is chefs kiss
For some reason, this review and this model woke up in me that feeling I had watching Clone Wars series and 2nd and 3rd prequal movies. I even heard a music. it is very nice and compact and even thou I don't collect UCS sets and I am not from US, $500 is max of the max I think this should cost.
Until non-sticker, non-color-missmatch, and non-part-vestige i continue with play models rather then with display models.
Great review again!
I really enjoy the look of this ship, but like Jang said, for over 600, all the hangar doors should be able to open. Especially when the main hangar was featured so often in the shows and movies. Unfortunately, Lego seems to be losing some of their magic and motivation for these Ultimate Collector Sets.
Honestly, it looks great but the fact that there is no interior makes me not want to get it
Which one do you like better, Imperial Star Destroyer or Venator Star Destroyer?
Never been a fan of that shape of Destroyer. I am a lover of the classic pointed wedge shape from A New Hope's opening battle. Love Jang's work here to let me take a close look without buying.

Really enjoy the reviews. Best Lego reviewer out there!
Arm printing on Rex looks lovely. Wonder if Lego will put arm printing on any other clones-most of them could use it
Been waiting for this, thank you Jang!
At the costs of these collector sets there should only be printed pieces, never stickers. I don't think Lego can justify this at these costs.
awesome review! thank you!
Thanks for that detailed and in-depth review, JANG.
This is a really detailed and spot on representation of the Venator.
I appreciate you showing the underside and there is some detail included there as well.

Love the review, there are some out there but only jangs was entertaining. But I have one suggestion: you have it in your background, what about a comparison? ;)
I am one of those who purchased Rex alone and turned a blind eye to the rest. Now… kinda glad I did
great set, maybe one day I'll own it! Need more space though, after UCS AT-AT, UCS Star Destroyer, UCS Gunship, UCS Razor Crest, and the countless smaller sets.
hey jang i see ur customised gundam earial behind you would you ever make a video on it over on your other channel
I do love the overall shape and color scheme of this ship, but unfortunately don't have any connection with she, to spend such an amount of money 🤷♂️
Regarding cloth kamas in general, if a kid was finding it annoying to play with the figure when the kama was on, they could just take it off, that's what I did with my 2008 plastic kama. appreciate your honest review of value Jang. Im going to hold on it and hope for a sale some day based on your opinion
I have always found the mould mark in the middle of the display plaque to only be an issue when lego covered it up in photoshop for press releases of the X-wing. False advertising should not be tolerated.
Glad to see you didn’t have to buy the Disney castle to review but save money to do this one
I actually had some dark red 1x4 tiles that were lighter then some of the ones for the bridge. Luckily I could hide them in the center parts.
To me, you’re the Bob Ross of LEGO 😉👍🏼
Best review I've seen so far.
i wish lego would use at least transparent stickers for those 6x6 plates or something to help hide the discoloration
definitely agree on 500. i dont know what it is, i would never actually utilize any play features, but i just HATE when there is absolutely no interior details... something like the even the super star destroyer showing just a LITTLE bit of interior would have been much better.
Incredible model for sure! Price is also... incredible! LOL I can't wait to see this model on display in my local Lego Store, because it's too big for me to own, but it's certainly impressive!
Looking at the review, I think my biggest gripe would be the stickers for the insignia on top. The other 4 stickers I’m happy with.
Definitely picking this up if I ever see it on discount. I've seen the Millenium Falcon and the AT-AT both at 25 % off, so who knows.
I got this off eBay for around 400 pounds and honestly I don’t care about the mini figs because I never wanted them, I was solely interested in the ship and I’m glad I could get it with a pretty big discount without removing anything I wanted
Jangs soothing voice
The review of the Venator I have been waiting for, really good thoughts on value and pricing.
Very good review.
However, at the whopping $849 CAD price tag. This is me favourite Lego set. It’s an absolute monster, has a strong presence in the display. I love it so much, I go and look at it everyday when I come back from work!
Wow looks amazing set awsome review jang enjoyed your charity ngt on twich ch
hopefully, in a couple years we see a sale like we have with other ucs set recently... that would make it much more approachable
Thanks for the honest review. I'm having trouble even believing it's worth $400. I just see too many shortcuts (biggest one no interior) and not much to do with the model (it's purely display). Great review!! I will wait for 20% sale.
I heard lego can't print on 6x6 tiles because of like the injection mark on the top center of the tile? It messes up the print so they had to use stickers for those
Thats big
once im not living in a shoebox, im buying this.
I Hope Jang can review some of the recent Friends lego sets such as the Skii sets etc
Indeed a very nice display model, thanks for the review
But at this price point i just don't want to see stickers and "printed on" cloth pieces.
Aww dang, Jang. Was hoping you’d say this set is terrible so I don’t have to buy it. But you didn’t. So I do.
LOL ...and we all know what a Zweihander sword looks like. Well, now I do.
Good review!
Rivendell, the Venator and Avengers Tower. I want them all but I have no room to put them on display...
Would be nice if it had a play-interior like the Executor...
It used to be my favorite ship, i got a poster of it and noticed that from the front it has the shape of jar jars head💀
Do you think you might do a review of the new lego concorde at some point?
Yep I reviewed that one last month!
agree with your review 100%...
I absolutely agree Rex needed side leg printing. I can accept no cloth kama, but the figures need to still properly represent them through printing
Lego set designers wanted to print the 6×6 sticker pieces but for some reason they can't print in those pieces as of now.
Hanger bay doors not opening is an L for me
I just got the razor crest for $420 last weekend, I’m hoping they do a similar sale for this one at some point lol..
Hello
Nice set but I wish they made it minifig scale :3
Good review
Collectors will lose their minds if that rex becomes anything other than fully exclusive 😂
