- In 2023 LEGO Star Wars celebrated the 20th Anniversary of The Clone Wars & 40th Anniversary of Return of the Jedi plus The Mandalorian Season 3 & AHSOKA show released! This means we finally saw some LONG OVERDUE LEGO Star Wars sets in a UCS Venator, Tie Bomber, The Ghost, Clone Trooper Helmets, a Super Star Destroyer, and more! While there were some amazing LEGO Star Wars Minifigures in Bo Katan, Ahsoka, the 501st Specialist, & Boba Fett, there were also some that just weren't up to todays standards with Captain Rex, Commander Fox, & Captain Vaughn... all Clone Troopers of course...

Despite all the controversies with the clones, this year was a great one for Lego Star Wars.
Feels like a lot of the controversies are just ridiculously forced by peeps like Mandr. Like helmet holes are something so insignificant that I only hear from people who have watched these videos first.

@@omarbaba9892 Yea, loads of RUclipsrs, because they're critics who feel the need to generate controversy for views. Never heard anyone complain about the holes unless they had first heard their favourite RUclipsr talk about it first. It's also absurd that for Mandr this is enough to put several sets down a few pegs, but the fact that an entire side of Ahsoka's ship is completely barren is seen as no big deal because "collectors won't display that side" is absurd.
Glad you put the Tie Bomber so high. It's always been one of my favourites from the films and to get such a great lego model was amazing. I've seen it on sale for months so i dont know how well its sold, but glad to see you call out how great it is (even if I agree the 40th anniv brick makes no sense).

Lego Star Wars had lots of ups and downs this year. HOWEVER, I feel like the most well-rounded set this year was the Ghost & Phantom
It’s definitely been a great year for some great ships!
I have huge hopes for a Jedi Temple after we got Yavin 4. I’m not hanging them too high, but using this style for a Jedi Temple would be amazing if it’s done correctly

@@frost973 Well I think that their should be kamas and there is no excuse, but I think that the main focus of a UCS set is the build, not to say that you can’t enjoy the figures. However I don’t think that a decent figure warranted such a bump down on the list. But this is my opinion and you can have your own as long as you’re not hurting anyone :)
Solid list. I definitely need to pick up the Ghost at some point. I will say for me personally I enjoy the Spider Tank a whole lot more than you did. The legs are so satisfying to move around.
I actually like the Darksaber. Always a upgrade from the normal black saber

For me the ucs venator is my #1 I've been wanting one for years.
I built the special forces tie fighter from 2015 and put it next to the 2023 coruscant gunship and the tie fighter is actually bigger in size. I miss how big Lego sets use to be and piece count to cost. 1999-2019 Lego, where yah at????

@MandRproductions Love how you expose ALL of Legos false advertising issues and ALL bad things about minifigures and sets. Lego is way to expensive and mistakes like this shouldn't be tolerated. Even worse - similar laziness extends to other themes as well - just look what they did with Majistos workshop or Orient Express for example. Slowly but surely profit is going to go down - from me at least, because I Refuse to buy garbage. And let us not forget: ONLY THE BEST IS GOOD ENOUGH. Keep up the great work Ryan🌟👑💎
I wish I could still afford to collect Lego. It has priced itself to ridiculous levels that just isn’t affordable.
Lego needs more midi star wars sets. I love the invisible hand, the tantive iv, and the executor, but we really need a midi scale Resolute bc nobody has 650$ to buy a ucs venator in todays economy nor do they have places to display it.

Nah I disagree 332 battlepack is one of the best sets of 2023 and even better than the 501 Specialist in my opinion And this set shouldn't be in the last one because there are much worse sets above this battlepack

@@MandRproductionsWell I have 4 boxes of the 501st specialists and I don't think I need an army of several heavy Troopers or snipers compared to the 322 which the vast majority are generic troops and easier build an army Although Captain Vaughn should be in the bigger set and I really wanted him to have an exclusive helmet too but that's just my opinion

I contradict everything I said, because you are doing injustice to LEGO 75359. Is it considered the worst because it is just the same shape as the characters? For me, it is considered the best because it contains almost everything. As for LEGO 75345, you consider it the best because you love it.

Vaughn has a SECOND difference to the troopers- Vaughn has a printed Commander Jetpack on his back
EDIT: Also, Baylan and Shin do have something wrong with them- they have red lightsabers. In the show, their lightsabers are ORANGE. It's the main reason I love Baylan so much- his orange lightsaber is so cool.
UCS Venator should be #1, it's the most beautiful Lego Star Wars set I have ever seen
Im not usually one to gripe about how figs look at all bc idc, but man oh man. The fox is just an absolute abomination. Not to mention the chest on mine is EXTRA translucent. Also, what was stopping lego from making a 10 piece slide out rack with extra stud shooter ammo in the front compartment of the gunship. Like cmon now who let them release it just empty?!

Ryan i find a bit contradicting that you complain about Reys inaccurate lightsaber colour (16:33), whilst saying that the Baylon Skull & Shin Hati minifugeres has "nothing wrong with them", (26:41) when their lightsabers also are inaccurate...
The color of their blades is much more open to interpretation, a lot has been said about this online.
The T6 shuttle is great for the mini figs, but the price for the ship is just bad to me. Amazon had it for $70 so i thought that was the price, then find out it is actually $80 was crazy. Luckily Costco had on sale for $50 😁. My major issue with this set is no interior on the hero ship of the series.

I agree with a lot of your takes, but tbh I fucking hate the cloth poncho on Leia. To me it doesn't look like an actual Lego minifig build, it looks like someone shoved a minifig into an ugly little bag. I got the new version from the advent calendar two days ago, and rather like it. I agree that dual molding the boots on would have improved it, but I'm in no way disappointed.
The Throne Room is way too high 😂 such a mid set for me. Definitely overpriced

Putting the 332nd battle pack in last is absolutely criminal
Kinda deserved though. The Vaughn figure is terrible in multiple ways (at least 3 details are objectively wrong and would've been trivial to fix if the designers just glanced at a picture of him) and there is the issue of the helmet holes on the regular troopers. Those holes don't ruin the figures for me like they do for some people but they do still look pretty bad relative to what we used to get and are inaccurate when used with an accessory other than the visor.
At least they made the last-minute decision to not raise the price to $27 like they had originally planned, though some countries did still see an increase (e.g. £19 in the UK when the 501st specialists pack was £18) and Walmart in the USA still released it at the original $27 price which also puts the set down for me.
Edit since I forgot to include it: the build itself also isn't great. It's a small and inaccurate rendition of a swamp speeder which we never saw the 332nd use and also never saw in any colour scheme other than grey and red, not the blue used in this set.

My issue with them is how much they stick out. The bigger issue I have with the new helmet mould though is the ridge that goes all the way around. This was not present on the previous mould and is not a feature on 'real' Clone helmets. If they added the holes but not this ridge I'd be much more forgiving of the new design, and I do believe this ridge is what is actually to blame for issues with the 212th helmet print.
As for Vaughn, you can't use him as a plain trooper due to his rank badge and jetpack prints. Sure, he could be a generic officer (which is what I use mine as) but at that point you're just making stuff up to justify LEGO's poor effort.
@@callumpears1523The ridge is absolutely a feature on real clone helmets (movie realistic style only), that's why it was added. It's just not that big. I personally preferred just having it printed black

One suggestion - I like that you put the details in a stripe on the bottom, but it would be good to put the number for which the set is ranked so that we can see it as well as hear it.

You’re honestly crazy if you think the buildable figures, micro fighters and the 4 plus set are all better than the 332nd battle pack.
Zero minifigs in the 332nd Battle Pack are good to me. 0 for 4. Plus one of them is a named character in a Battle Pack. Pretty clear why I feel the way I do. You obviously don't have to value the same things I do but that's my take.
@@MandRproductions I think that they’re all pretty good, excluding Vaughn, Vaughn is absolutely trash, I’ll give you that. Buttt imo, helmet holes aren’t the end of the world to me on the new clones. Yes, they could look incredibly better design wise, but there really isn’t a great way to make the holes look any better than how they do. If they were to move the hole downwards and completely remove the bump on the side, the holes would look significantly better, but then the visor attachment wouldn’t align properly above the actual visor. So honestly, I think it’s a fair compromise, unless they did decide to remove the holes completely, which would alleviate the problem, but I for one, want the holes to exist on the new clones. I like being able to have the option to customize clones and put different accessories on them, like Lego has always done for clone troopers (for the most part). So imo, this set definitely deserved a lower ranking, it isn’t nearly as bad as people make it out to be. But hey, everyone has their own opinions, that’s what makes everyone different.
One more thing I would like to add, the main build for the 332nd battle pack is actually very solid, as you stated in the video. So honestly, for me at least, the main build being pretty solid should put this battle pack much lower in my personal opinion (as much as the swamp speeder build doesn’t make sense to be on mandalore).

I personally think the MIDI-Super Star Destroyer or the Emperors throne room are the best sets this year. I also really love the two clone head display sets and of course the ucs venator

My thoughts exactly, the 332nd battle pack doesn’t deserve to be put in last. Regardless of what you think about the helmet holes, you do get three great massable figures and one very solid main build. Definitely better than the micro fighters, buildable figures and 4 plus set imo.

“IKEA astromech” still busts me up. I agree on the Ghost, but I’d have but the Venator higher, but I wanted the Clone Wars version over Episode III. They really could’ve done Rex better. Cloth capes isn’t be much to ask for in a UCS set.

I’d have had it higher if it was the version of Venator I liked more and the Rex was actually a UCS quality fig, just thought there were 5 better sets for me.

The actual crime of putting the Venator below the Ghost purely based on a mini-figure choice :( I understand the bias, but its objectively the ugliest ship out there
It wasn't purely based on the figure, as I explained the style of Venator they chose I find to look worse than the ROTS style.
Before I finish this, I’m voting on the gunship, we haven’t had one on 10 years of play set scale, and it brings new clones to LegoStar wars, I find it’s a great set, even if there’s a few little downsides like lack of play features, but I love it, it looks great for a decoration!

Personally i think the mechs are worse than the 332nd battlepack but the low ranking is worth it. I bought 5 of the of 501st and have 3 of the new specialist one, and planning on at least 1 more, but I just can't get behind getting a bunch of the new 332nd. I'll probably only get 2 to have a decent squad
