He mentioned it like once even though most of the times they’re in this wave the clone minifigs are the whole point of the set and the helmet holes make them completely irredeemable. Honestly super reserved review that should’ve shat on the unnecessary design “compromise” more
Kinda deserved though. The Vaughn figure is terrible in multiple ways (at least 3 details are objectively wrong and would've been trivial to fix if the designers just glanced at a picture of him) and there is the issue of the helmet holes on the regular troopers. Those holes don't ruin the figures for me like they do for some people but they do still look pretty bad relative to what we used to get and are inaccurate when used with an accessory other than the visor. At least they made the last-minute decision to not raise the price to $27 like they had originally planned, though some countries did still see an increase (e.g. £19 in the UK when the 501st specialists pack was £18) and Walmart in the USA still released it at the original $27 price which also puts the set down for me. Edit since I forgot to include it: the build itself also isn't great. It's a small and inaccurate rendition of a swamp speeder which we never saw the 332nd use and also never saw in any colour scheme other than grey and red, not the blue used in this set.
@@Theshadow12i I literally did not mention the helmet holes affecting the print anywhere in my comment. My issue with them is how much they stick out. The bigger issue I have with the new helmet mould though is the ridge that goes all the way around. This was not present on the previous mould and is not a feature on 'real' Clone helmets. If they added the holes but not this ridge I'd be much more forgiving of the new design, and I do believe this ridge is what is actually to blame for issues with the 212th helmet print. As for Vaughn, you can't use him as a plain trooper due to his rank badge and jetpack prints. Sure, he could be a generic officer (which is what I use mine as) but at that point you're just making stuff up to justify LEGO's poor effort.
@@callumpears1523The ridge is absolutely a feature on real clone helmets (movie realistic style only), that's why it was added. It's just not that big. I personally preferred just having it printed black

@@omarbaba9892 Yea, loads of RUclipsrs, because they're critics who feel the need to generate controversy for views. Never heard anyone complain about the holes unless they had first heard their favourite RUclipsr talk about it first. Zero minifigs in the 332nd Battle Pack are good to me. 0 for 4. Plus one of them is a named character in a Battle Pack. Pretty clear why I feel the way I do. You obviously don't have to value the same things I do but that's my take.
@@MandRproductions I think that they’re all pretty good, excluding Vaughn, Vaughn is absolutely trash, I’ll give you that. Buttt imo, helmet holes aren’t the end of the world to me on the new clones. Yes, they could look incredibly better design wise, but there really isn’t a great way to make the holes look any better than how they do. If they were to move the hole downwards and completely remove the bump on the side, the holes would look significantly better, but then the visor attachment wouldn’t align properly above the actual visor. So honestly, I think it’s a fair compromise, unless they did decide to remove the holes completely, which would alleviate the problem, but I for one, want the holes to exist on the new clones. I like being able to have the option to customize clones and put different accessories on them, like Lego has always done for clone troopers (for the most part). So imo, this set definitely deserved a lower ranking, it isn’t nearly as bad as people make it out to be. But hey, everyone has their own opinions, that’s what makes everyone different.
One more thing I would like to add, the main build for the 332nd battle pack is actually very solid, as you stated in the video. “IKEA astromech” still busts me up. I agree on the Ghost, but I’d have but the Venator higher, but I wanted the Clone Wars version over Episode III. They really could’ve done Rex better. Cloth capes isn’t be much to ask for in a UCS set.
My thoughts exactly, the 332nd battle pack doesn’t deserve to be put in last. Regardless of what you think about the helmet holes, you do get three great massable figures and one very solid main build. Definitely better than the micro fighters, buildable figures and 4 plus set imo.

I'll probably only get 2 to have a decent squad
My number 1 set for this year is the Emperor's Throne Room diorama. I love how clean it looks, and it's such an iconic scene. The 1 downside is that Palpatine's eyes look horrible. I'm going to have to buy another Palpatine head and replace it.
75356 Super Star Destroyer - hands down THE best LEGO set in 2023. Best set in the last 2 or 3 years. Need a petition to make sure Lego release more midi-scale ships. Perfect 18+
Yeah, I think you're right on regretting not putting the Midi-ISSD at 1st place. That's where I'd put it. And I'd have put the Throne Room Diorama in 3rd place with the TIE-Bomber in 2nd place...only because LEGO insists on using that new garbage molde for the Emperor's "hood" that looks more like he has a shower towel draped around his head. The UCS Venator is a nice 4th place in my book mostly because I think it's a bit overpriced and it's a The Clone Wars set, which is something I really couldn't care less about. It'd be higher if they had made it either a Republic Venator or an Imperial Venator as seen in Revenge of the Sith. The Ghost would be a comfortable 5th place to me.
I would love for Lego to release a UCS Super Star Destroyer in 2024. I missed out on the first 1 because I had a new baby and wasn't able to pick it up. So I would love to be able to add 1 to my collection and the mini scale falcon and the Neb B I haven't picked up yet but I can find those fairly easy and plan on those. I agree with your list and placement. The number 1 and 2 spots would have been the hardest to place with both of the sets being easily a number 1 set of 2023.
Not sure if you’ll have time for this but doing the best minifigure of 2023 would be cool, either for just Star Wars or u could do all themes just the most detailed accurate best looking figs of the year
Finally a video where you aren’t just bashing the Corusant Gaurd gunship. Also I can see your hatred to the Commander Fox but at least we get Fox instead of getting what we got with commander Vaughn where it was a regular clone trooper with a visor
Explanation for the Lego Magazin why it is only available in Germany (and some other parts of Europe): The publishing company of this magazine is a German company, not Lego itself. But meanwhile it is also available in the UK, so there is an english version.
I built the special forces tie fighter from 2015 and put it next to the 2023 coruscant gunship and the tie fighter is actually bigger in size. I miss how big Lego sets use to be and piece count to cost. 1999-2019 Lego, where yah at????
At 8:40 how do you get that affect where you take a shot from the show that isn’t perfectly the same dimension as RUclips videos so the edges get blurred if that makes sense. My number 1 set for this year is the Emperor's Throne Room diorama. I love how clean it looks, and it's such an iconic scene. The 1 downside is that Palpatine's eyes look horrible. I'm going to have to buy another Palpatine head and replace it.
Lol I never looked at the box hard enough to know there was a named character in the 332nd battle pack, I was just using him as a grunt
75356 Super Star Destroyer - hands down THE best LEGO set in 2023. Best set in the last 2 or 3 years. Need a petition to make sure Lego release more midi-scale ships. Perfect 18+
I love your videos!!!
36:20 “ they had us in the first half, not gonna lie
I would love for Lego to release a UCS Super Star Destroyer in 2024. I missed out on the first 1 because I had a new baby and wasn't able to pick it up. So I would love to be able to add 1 to my collection and the mini scale falcon and the Neb B I haven't picked up yet but I can find those fairly easy and plan on those. I agree with your list and placement. The number 1 and 2 spots would have been the hardest to place with both of the sets being easily a number 1 set of 2023.
Not sure if you’ll have time for this but doing the best minifigure of 2023 would be cool, either for just Star Wars or u could do all themes just the most detailed accurate best looking figs of the year
Nice to see the old sig fig make an appearance at the end.
You Americans are really lucky that the Venator is only $650, here in Australia it goes for $1100!
Saw this and thought it was all Lego Star Wars sets ever at first 😂
The 332nd trooper I mixed up Vons chest with a different characters torso
The studs in the Super Star Destroyer ia great
Finally a video where you aren’t just bashing the Corusant Gaurd gunship. Also I can see your hatred to the Commander Fox but at least we get Fox instead of getting what we got with commander Vaughn where it was a regular clone trooper with a visor
I don’t get why people complain about the venator it’s not supposed to be ROTS it’s the yularens flag ship from the clone wars hence the red bridge
@@49erswestcoastoffense fair enough lmao
"IKEA astromech droid" lmaooo Ryan
Got Ashoka T6 for 42$ this black friday, now thats a great price! The secret to lego is never buy sets when they new and wait for the big holiday's
Bro in the UK Amazon the mechs are some of Lego Star-Wars’ best sellers!🤦♂️
I actually like the Darksaber. Always a upgrade from the normal black saber
Lets go One of the best series is back, love it Ryan
I think the leia hate on the speeder chase is unwarranted because it’s still a great figure
Me having this set and not realizing till now I put the wrong body on Vaughn.....
Explanation for the Lego Magazin why it is only available in Germany (and some other parts of Europe):
The publishing company of this magazine is a German company, not Lego itself.
Interesting opinions - they don't remotely align with mine, but interesting.
For me the ucs venator is my #1 I've been wanting one for years.
I have a question about the Ghost… can you fit the original ORIGINAL Phantom on there?
Damn. Realisation hit me when he said the 2013 x wing was 10 years ago
At 8:40 how do you get that affect where you take a shot from the show that isn’t perfectly the same dimension as RUclips videos so the edges get blurred if that makes sense. Hopefully IMovie has that feature because that’s what I use. My channel is movie centric (hence my name lol) so this technique would be very helpful to me.
Not an iMovie feature unfortunately. My editor uses premiere pro I think.
editor here - just fit to screen, make copied layer with blur underneath.
After having to put my Lego's away for a few years, watching this is makes me miss it so much 😭😭
Great video! ❤
If I had a nickel for every time M&R mentions how bad the helmet holes are, I'd be richer than Bruce Wayne, which is a lot, and it's weird how this happened so many times.
LEGO keeps putting them in sets and keeps making bad clones it sucks all around.
@@MandRproductionsI love it when you complain for me. I don’t get why everyone hates you complaining about the helmet holes cause it just gives us a better product
The "IKEA" Astro-Mech droid😂😂😂😂
Don't forget that with captain Vaughn he has exclusive back printing as well.
My easy favorite for this year is the Ghost and Phantom II. Fingers crossed for getting it on Christmas Day
