2008 - 2011 was a good time to be a kid that liked LEGO. Practically everyone in the elementary school traded sets or mini figs with each other and I remember everyone being obsessed with the Death Star, and all of us being jealous of those few kids that actually got it.
My favorite set, recently got my hands back on it and still love it, but it's not Lego's most accurate spaceship. Makes sense though, it realeased before the game (The Vader at least is even clearly based directly on Concept Art) A funny side fact being that the only time Vader looks like that ingame with the Rogue Shadow present is the Dark Side ending.
It must have been awesome to get a cool Lego set for only $10 back then. It's so expensive now. I feel like Microfighters used to be $10. I got a cool deal on a Boba Fet starship microfighter on Amazon for only US 8.99, so I was happy because I made a little dock for it at the back of the playset sized Razor Crest right behind the escape pod using jumper plates. It now adds a bit of color to the grey and I pretend that it's actually part of the bigger set 😊
The 2008 Death Star caught the attention of people outside of the Lego space, I remember a Target employee telling me how people actually bought this set to resell it and she thought that was crazy, as in her eyes it was just an expensive kid's toy.
I have the Gunship sealed in box somewhere (very beat up I should note). It was my cousin’s but he never built and just gave it to us with his LEGO collection a few years. I also surprised at how many of these sets I bought at the time and how many of they are still built and on shelves. It really was a great year for LEGO Star Wars
I have a good memories with Anakin starfighter. This is the first time I got a LEGO set with an issue; the sticker was missing from the sheet. It was one of my earlier attempt at assertiveness and I was so proud from having contacted lego to send me a spare sticker sheet which they did. 😄
Probably my most nostalgic year for lego with me being peak child at 4 years old biggest fan of lego and star wars and watching this seeing all the old sets i got for Christmas that year remembering everything i got then. Now being 19 and 20 next year seeing this with a disposable income just wishing i could go back and buy up a bunch of these!!!
Rebel battle pack was my first set along with the twilight, I think it’s a very underrated set as it looks very accurate to the show/movie and was fun to play with as a kid
2008 was a rough year in terms of design, lego was barely getting out of the og design philosophy and evolving to a modern design so a lot of these sets don't hold up that well
I like my 2010 Tie Defender but even it is clearly obsolescent in terms of building techniques. I've added reinforcements to it and some plates to make it a little more smooth and sturdy but I hope Lego releases a professionally designed new one in play scale or even UCS but I'm not holding my breath.
@@sergeipohkerova7211 Maybe with Ahsoka coming out they'll do a TIE Defender. That was Thrawn's baby, and it'd be a cool re-release. Plus they're doing a lot of the TIE line lately, so maybe you can get your hopes up a *little* bit.
Honestly what stands out here is the sheer volume of creativity implemented into these sets. Whilst the designs of today are better, they do seem so much more boring compared to 2008!
The biggest disappointment for me when I got the Twilight, was the fact that it doesn't have any interior or the med bay despite its size, hence why it was never advertised anywhere on the box. but still, the kid me had high expection, and it SHOULD have had something more to it
Damn ryan right off the bat you hurt my feelings!😂 I like the twilight. I feel like it's kinda iconic a bit and underrated. Also a tip for when your building it: towards the end there's gonna be a step that seems impossible but you just have to put it on a certain way.
Fantastic video, but theres some mistakes, the 2016 trash compactor section is shown when Mandr's talking about the 2008 one (11:18), the 2019 y-wing and the 2021 Slave one being shown when he's talking about the downscaled models shown in the 2018 Cloud City and 2023 Yavin 4 (11:57)
Awesome First to Worst! I love every single set this year and it has to be one of my favorite years of Lego Star Wars of all time. The clone wars and the original trilogy sets and prequels sets were all great and I would love to see Lego remake some of these sets one day. Also I am so excited to see you tomorrow Ryan for Brickfair!
My heart broke again when I saw that AT-TE.💔 I wanted that set so bad… I never got it though! 2008 was a great year! Me and my brothers collected a lot of these sets back in the day! I miss when Lego used to make quality sets like these! BRING BACK THE CLONE WARS!!!!
These are some L takes. There is no way you put a buildable figure ahead of the AT-AP. Anakins fighter is better than the storm trooper battle pack? The Death Star is worse than the Magnaguard Fighter? What?
If they would do a THE clone wars anniversary wave to pay homage to this beautiful year in Lego Star Wars history, what 8-10 sets (of various sizes) should this wave include? I imagine something like "Attack on the Rishi Base" with about 1000 pieces, 8 Minifigures and you just have this base with the command center, the viewing Platform, Secret entrance and by flipping something the base would blow up (similar to this Endor Set)
i love how lego says that they cant do fallen order sets because the game is “too violent”, yet they did force unleashed sets and that game is as violent if not more violent than fallen order
Stormtrooper battlepack was my first ever Star Wars set. I was 7 and already a big Star Wars fan. However I had no idea Lego Star Wars existed because Lego in general wasn't very widespread then where I'm from, I fucking shit my pants from excitement when I got it for my birthday. Good times...
When I was a kid my parents and I drove over an hour to the lego store for my birthday. The buildable general grievous box was badly damaged so they only charged me $32 for it. I was a seasonal employee a couple years back at a new closer location and that absolutely does not happen today
One of the problems that I have with LEGO Star Wars; being old enough to remember G.I. Joe and Transformers, is that playing with them depended upon what was going on in the show, even though it was a catalyst for play, you still wanted to recreate everything that you just watched and other than that, isn't canon. So in some ways, I have a love hate relationship with the Clone Wars animated series (there is a lot of great character development in the series.) There are novelizations out there of other stories; I did find an Obi-Wan Kenobi pre A New Hope story (EU content) about him looking for a former Jedi (I need to finish reading that), It would seem as though the people at the Disney Lucasfilm might not be authors, so maybe that's why they suck at storytelling.
Still want that 2008 Republic Fighter Tank to this day, best design. Shame I can only seem to find it for 100+, think that's a bit much for an originally $50 set. New in box, maybe?
The 2008 Gun ship was peak for me and my brother I still have it but I definitely would buy like 2 more they are that good. The Commander Cody had all the accessories as well it was perfect
Before you’ve had a gripe about the droid gunship having a pilot spot but you think the homing spider droid should have a spot for a figure inside? And knocked it a little for that is just crazy
Greetings from Russia! It's interesting, and pretty cool, that you can collect your favorite lego, at the same time, quite a large number of enthusiastic people on the platform, it's a pity there is no such thing with numismatics, sometimes you think. good luck
I really want that rogue shadow set its one of the few big sets id commit too Especially since i loved the force unleashed and it definitely made me appreciate legends continuity more.
2008 - 2011 was a good time to be a kid that liked LEGO. Practically everyone in the elementary school traded sets or mini figs with each other and I remember everyone being obsessed with the Death Star, and all of us being jealous of those few kids that actually got it.
Honestly I agree I finally got my hands on one last week and am still building it
Clone Wars absolutely carries this year
For sure
Not back then. I remember they weren’t really received well at first because of the art style of the figures
Agreed.
Some of them are kinda creepy though
I mean, like 80% of the sets were clone wars so, yeah lol
The Rouge Shadow actually depicted the ship from Force unleashed very well. I wish that LEGO would release more sets for Fallen Order like the Mantis
Agreed, one of my favorite sets of all time
I agree
For more fallen order sets
I feel like it's too hollow & the blaster storage should have been something else, overall it's awesome.
My favorite set, recently got my hands back on it and still love it, but it's not Lego's most accurate spaceship.
Makes sense though, it realeased before the game (The Vader at least is even clearly based directly on Concept Art)
A funny side fact being that the only time Vader looks like that ingame with the Rogue Shadow present is the Dark Side ending.
You're crushing it with the daily uploads! It's a perfect day when there's a "Worst to First" video!
Yeah I'm loving the daily uploads.
I also love that now the cards of the set have the set number, title, piece count, and price! It's a nice detail Ryan and it's much appreciated!
More worst to first please!
How many days has he been uploading in a row it’s a least a mouth now
@@Habsfan56744 Lol it has to be at least 24-25 days

The pure nostalgic joy this video gives me is unreal ❤
The 2008 Death Star caught the attention of people outside of the Lego space, I remember a Target employee telling me how people actually bought this set to resell it and she thought that was crazy, as in her eyes it was just an expensive kid's toy.
Tbh the death star is the best set of that year due to how iconic it is and the amazing build and figures.
2008 is an underrated year in my years, it’s personal to me cause it’s when I really started getting into LEGO

The moment where a child becomes an adult.
Probably my most nostalgic year for lego with me being peak child at 4 years old biggest fan of lego and star wars and watching this seeing all the old sets i got for Christmas that year remembering everything i got then. He wanted to continue the streak of uploading. Good for Ryan.
Rebel battle pack was my first set along with the twilight, I think it’s a very underrated set as it looks very accurate to the show/movie and was fun to play with as a kid

Let’s just all say that the clone wars sets just dominated the list
Honestly what stands out here is the sheer volume of creativity implemented into these sets. Whilst the designs of today are better, they do seem so much more boring compared to 2008!
I think a ranking of every year of lego star wars would make a great video.
Yes
Man if I could only go back to these days! Great times to be a kid.
I miss those days. 1980s kid.
Born in 71. Lego just isn’t the same anymore.
Imagine its Christmas day 2008, you get a ATTE and a V19, the best year of my life
So glad you gave the V-19 the love it deserves!
The biggest disappointment for me when I got the Twilight, was the fact that it doesn't have any interior or the med bay despite its size, hence why it was never advertised anywhere on the box. but still, the kid me had high expection, and it SHOULD have had something more to it
Hello MandR just made a Lego RUclips channel! I made it because of you keep up the good work and inspiring people!
Great video but this thumbnail doesn't cut it, the normal one is too iconic to change it. Amazing series
Damn ryan right off the bat you hurt my feelings!😂 I like the twilight. I feel like it's kinda iconic a bit and underrated.
Also a tip for when your building it: towards the end there's gonna be a step that seems impossible but you just have to put it on a certain way.
Trick question all the 08 sets are amazing
Got scared you weren’t going to post 😂
The V 19 Torrent is one of those sets that would make sense if they remade and downscaled.
I really miss these ranked type videos! Hope you come up with more ideas for this series!
Plus when he talked about how the droid should go into the spider walker when the spider walker is a droid by itself. Not a tank that you get into
Great list except for the Death Star. That is the holy grail of Lego star wars as a whole and you put it halfway!?
Awesome First to Worst! I love every single set this year and it has to be one of my favorite years of Lego Star Wars of all time. Wow, I wasn’t ready for this upload Ryan!? But I’m loving this worst the first!!!
Man awesome vid! I was glad to meet you at BrickFair VA and awesome with the daily uploads, always fire 🔥
Absolutely amazing, we’ve been asking for this for a long time and this is great, thank you Ryan, we appreciate you and the grind 😊🎉🎉
I have insider info that in 2024 we WILL see a mandolorian season three Moff Gideon! By 2025 we will see a UCS jab as sail barge
Nice! Any other cool news?
Yes! Don’t expect midi-scale to stick around!
I wouldn’t say that. According to legos retiring list, midi scale will stay for three more years at least!
You should do a review of the cancelled Snowspeeder polybag, like you did the Tank Droid a few years ago
The 2008 Gunship is one of my favourite lego sets ever. When I was younger I always wanted this set
It’s interesting that a lot of the 2008 builds are worse than today, however the creativity and side builds are way better than today.
Great video ryan, keep up the daily uploads!
always wanted the 2008 at-te but i am super glad i got the republic fighter tank back then was such a great set and was my fav set for years :)
This dude really put a battle pack above the death star 💀
Rebel Scout Speeder is my favorite set of all time and I'd appreciate it if someone made it cannon
These are some L takes. There is no way you put a buildable figure ahead of the AT-AP. Anakins fighter is better than the storm trooper battle pack? The Death Star is worse than the Magnaguard Fighter? What?
I just started rebels No one told me it was this good
Well glad you like it!
force unleashed needs more talk. i want starkiller so bad.
The magna guard flick fire is supposed to be angled a little bit upwards and forward. I remember playing with that feature and I loved it
Now THIS is the video thumbnail we were waiting for
Keep doing these types of videos please 🙏
If they would do a THE clone wars anniversary wave to pay homage to this beautiful year in Lego Star Wars history, what 8-10 sets (of various sizes) should this wave include?

the rebel scout speeder was one of my first sets so a lot of nostalgia for me but i'm glad you also like it
I didn’t know about the bouncy seat in the fighter tank. But now I’m won over. That’s amazing
Love the worst to first lists!! Keep 'em coming Ryan!
when i saw this video i thought, it's been 84 years since a ranking video. gotta love these vids, keep up the good work man
You need to play The Force Unleashed, it's the best Star Wars game in my opinion
The rebel scout speeder was the very first Lego set I ever had! Much nostalgia for that one
For whatever reason, the AT-AP 2008 is one of my favorite sets
It was my first non battlepack set so I have fond memories of it. Still have it displayed to this day.
Wait a minute did call an AT-AP an AT-DP
He did haha
I just wish we were in the old days were clones were simple and everyone loved clones
Yeah born in 1971. Good old days.
Ima keep it real its been a while since one of these worst to first type vids
Great video keep up the great work your my favorite lego RUclipsr
bro your videos are always so good
Yes
The Rogue Shadow better be top 3 Ryan
My Disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined
@@thegreatpiginthesky3904 As a proud owner of it and fan of the games, agreed.
The Anakin's starfighter was my first ever LEGO Star Wars set ever... good memories
13:42 bro on the right got the Skywalker treatment.
i love how lego says that they cant do fallen order sets because the game is “too violent”, yet they did force unleashed sets and that game is as violent if not more violent than fallen order
Who wants mandr to make a clone army video
I thought you would break your video streak today
The polybag V-19 Torrent was an absolutely fire set
Ask mandr: Will you ever make a first to worst for all Lego Star Wars? You could do it in multiple parts
Keep up the daily grind man!
A classic is back!
"i guess kids back in 2008 were just smarter"
they absolutely were and its not even close
Yeah I was reading Dune at age 7😭
For sure, kids these days are stupid as hell
my parents surprised me with the Republic GS when i was young and im so happy it was number one!
Been a while since a worst to first I love them keep them up
Stormtrooper battlepack was my first ever Star Wars set. I was 7 and already a big Star Wars fan. However I had no idea Lego Star Wars existed because Lego in general wasn't very widespread then where I'm from, I fucking shit my pants from excitement when I got it for my birthday. Good times...
If you do worst to first from 2007 (The year Star Wars turned 30) I'm now hoping that now number one will really just be the MTT
Instant classic m and r video. Been waiting for this one for a while now!
What a year!
When I was a kid my parents and I drove over an hour to the lego store for my birthday. The buildable general grievous box was badly damaged so they only charged me $32 for it. I was a seasonal employee a couple years back at a new closer location and that absolutely does not happen today

Would you ever do a poly bag ranking? Maybe like cluster years together or do all of em idk
Still want that 2008 Republic Fighter Tank to this day, best design. Shame I can only seem to find it for 100+, think that's a bit much for an originally $50 set. New in box, maybe?
I have starkiller in a good used condition he goes for like £60-£80
I think you should make a worst to first video for 2007 since it’s prob one of the best years for star wars
Dang the nostalgia along with playing tons of PS2 Lego star wars and original trilogy.
The 2008 Gun ship was peak for me and my brother I still have it but I definitely would buy like 2 more they are that good. The Commander Cody had all the accessories as well it was perfect
6:57 You do realise the DROID gunship is literally a droid...
Before you’ve had a gripe about the droid gunship having a pilot spot but you think the homing spider droid should have a spot for a figure inside? And knocked it a little for that is just crazy
how about a worst to first of all years for lego star wars?

Lots of people don’t realize the dropship can pick up the AT-TE and not just the AT-OT
The Rebel BP speeder is based in the Freerunner Speeder, a actual SW vehicle!
He is about to lose his streak
Honestly my favorite set from this year is the mtt
I really want that rogue shadow set its one of the few big sets id commit too Especially since i loved the force unleashed and it definitely made me appreciate legends continuity more.
good old times when battlepacks used to cost only 10€/$...
Inflation
I absolutely love these videos! Thank you for doing these!!
I was only 1 when these sets came out and I wish i had so many of them
I was 9😂😂😂 I got them all
