  • Pickup trucks and off-roading go together like peanut butter & jelly. Or Saturday mornings and cartoons. The latest full-size trucks to arrive on the scene are the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X and 2022 Ford F-150 Tremor. The F-150 has been completely updated last year and the Sierra 1500 received a major mid-cycle update for this 2022 model year. So how do they stack up against each other?
    The Ford F-150 Tremor is only available with one engine, despite there being many other engines available for other F-150 trims. It has a 3.5L twin-turbocharged V6 that produces 400 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque (298 kW & 678 Nm). Although it is turbocharged, this engine is very responsive. Peak torque isn’t reached until the 3,100 rpm mark but it has plenty of grunt below that rpm threshold.
    The 2022 GMC Sierra AT4X is also available with just one engine, a 6.2L naturally aspirated V8. It can produce 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque (313 kW & 624 Nm). With this engine being naturally aspirated, it too is responsive but it doesn’t have the same “kick” at lower rpms as the turbo engine in the F-150. So at times, it can feel as though this truck isn’t as quick.
    With both these trucks having 400+ hp, you’ll be paying a pretty penny, and then some, at gas stations. The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X is rated for 16.5 L/100km (14.2 MPG) in a city and 13.2 L/100km (17.8 MPG) on a highway. The Ford F-150 Tremor is a little bit better at 14.3 L/100km (16.4 MPG) in a city and 11.8 L/100km (19.9 MPG) on a highway.
    The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X is the more expensive of the two with a starting price of $93,203 CAD ($81,700 USD). The 2022 Ford F-150 Tremor starts at $63,145 CAD ($61,110 USD). As equipped, the Sierra costs $95,303 CAD ($83,290 USD) and the Tremor costs $85,240 CAD ($74,855 USD).

    I just bought a 23 Black 402A last week. I believe it is an amazing product. The clearance angles (very good all around- not the best), bash plates, Raptor transfer case, Raptor Torsion Diff, new suspension, additional suspension travel..etc provide unique off road offerings. I love the fact it comes straight from the factor w/these options to include prewired auxiliary switches
    The overall biggest win for me is the monster 3.5! The Tremor is as fast as a Raptor in the 1/4 mile @13.9 sec! Read that again... It is .1 sec slower in 0-60 at 5.3 vs 5.2 (Car Driver review) It heaps buckets of torque on you at cartoon like low rpms. This engine coupled w/the gearing (3:73) and dual exhaust is unreal. It sounds amazing as well. It pulls as hard or better in normal mode as my 18 Platinum 3.5 did in sport. This is just my experience at lower RPMs as mine isn't broken in so no high revs yet. I love the speed/torque and I'm sorry, nothing out there comes close for me. Yes, the 6.2 GMC is quick but the extra torque and how/when you feel this ( 1700 rpm) from the Tremor is just so early, instant and violent. The wheels are awesome and love the tire set up -very quiet for ATs.
    Not hating on other options as I do like and have owned GMC. The Raptor heritage alone is no joke when compared to what the competition offers. Couldn't be happier with my choice. Can't wait to try out Sport mode as I've heard it is blistering!

    Ok my opinion about the tailgates..you don't need to have anything else but just a step because is you load your truck with plywood or anything longer than your bed you usually do it with your bed close, I drive ram now but I had f150 before and I really miss that step on the gate is not shaky like you said very easy to use and quick to deploy. Now, if you have like very busy multipro tailgate this makes the gate very heavy people like me I clouse and open the gate very often on my job site you will hated a heavy one so I will choose Ford gate over any other one

The Ford looks cheap overall, and the seat leather does not look tight with a good fit. Both of these trucks still need to take a page from RAM's interior when it comes to fit and finish. • @kylesummers1565
      @kylesummers1565 Год назад

      @@MGReviewsBlog Our trucks get a little more pseudo-off-road "use" than your average 1/2 ton. We work in the 4-corners region of New Mexico, but never haul anything so we usually stick with 1/2 ton trucks. That truck had a few warranty issues early, but after having to replace the transmission, pinion gears, motor mounts, electronics, etc. at less than 60K miles, I'm done. It probably is just a lemon that didn't marinade quite quickly enough to be covered by the lemon-law because we have another identical truck that has had fewer issues (but less mileage). I don't think I can blame the driver too much, because he loves both Chevy and Ford and hasn't torn up any other trucks (generally takes very good care of them). When I told him I was going to sell the 2013 Tundra with 110K miles, he asked if he could drive that instead and have me sell his truck (and he is a redneck that doesn't really like Toyotas). The 2013 Tundra had an A/C regulator go out a few years ago (basically that's it), and a 2016 Tundra we bought used at 20K miles has had a speed sensor on a tire get damaged by gravel but no other problems. I'm not a "pure Toyota" guy and I just order a 2023 Tremor for myself because I still have Dodge nightmares from the past and now a GM nightmare to add to it. I just don't like the looks of the new Tundras, but I would have no issues buying them for work trucks just for reliability. Peace, Love!!

    You should try using the AT4 step when there is a trailer hitch installed. I think your preference will change when you see that engineering miss on GM’s part. The step is not usable unless the hitch is out. I know many owners that have a dimple in their tail gate now because they opened the step onto the hitch

    • @MGReviewsBlog

Ford's tailgate step is beautifully simplistic and doesn't detract from the appearance of the truck like the GMC mess does. Also when you swing down the GMC step it has been a common problem to make contact with the Hitch /Ball and damage the gate. Not a good design at all.

Yes, the step is better integrated in the Ford and the tailgate is lighter but the GMC has more functions built in. Why should I pay extra for a bed extender when it's already built into the tailgate? (or other accessories that provide the same features as in the Sierra tailgate)
      As for the hitch/ball, just remove it when you're not using it or use the switch inhibit function so that you don't accidentally press it and drop the inner gate. I'm not saying that the MultiPro gate is perfect but it offers more functionality and feels sturdier than the Ford's.

      @@MGReviewsBlog I'd rather have clean simple perfect functionality than a poorly thought out disaster. When you use the ford step it doesn't wobble at all. Your wobble test would only apply if you decide to drive out on the road with the gate open and step extended .... why would anyone do that .

      Simple tends to have less problems… but the multipro tailgate is sick! Fords design functions just fine as a step…gmc went beyond that

    The AT4X has a far superior engine and drivetrain(especially with the Duramax). Both nice trucks, but to attempt a comparison is silly.
