2024 Ford F-150 Raptor and 2024 Ford F-150 STX Review / Mid-cycle updates and a new trim level
For the 2024 model year, the Ford F-150 pickup truck enters a mid-cycle update. Along with the updated exterior styling, the F-150 gains a new trim option just above the base XL. Does the F-150 STX feel as utilitarian as the base XL and is the Raptor the ultimate off-road full-size pickup truck? Enjoy this review of the 2024 F-150 from one end of the trim spectrum to the other.
The new STX trim of the 2024 Ford F-150 is equipped with a standard 2.7L EcoBoost V6 which produces 325 hp & 400 lb-ft of torque (242 kW & 542 Nm). When the truck is unloaded, this engine has absolutely no problem in getting the 2,241 kg (4,940 lbs) truck moving, whether it be from a stop, up a hill, or merging onto...

Comparison: 2024 Toyota Tacoma vs 2024 Ford Ranger
Просмотров 5 тыс.День назад
Mid-size trucks are not exactly “mid-size” anymore. With each new generation, these trucks are getting bigger and bigger. Two such trucks that enter a new generation and have grown in size are the 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport and the 2024 Ford Ranger Lariat FX4. These two are arguably the most popular “mid-size” trucks in the world. So how do they stack up against each other? As is the trend in...
2024 Mercedes-Benz CLE 300 Cabriolet Review / More C-class or E-class?

In recent years, the Mercedes-Benz lineup has become more and more confusing. It seems as though there’s a model for a third of the letters of the alphabet. Mercedes-Benz has realized this as well and are now streamlining their lineup. The 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLE-class replaces four models with two. The C-class and E-class coupe & cabriolets are now gone. The Nissan Rogue has been a great value for money over the last few years. It was never as much fun to drive as something like the Mazda CX-5 nor was it as spacious as the Honda CR-V. But it was less expensive than both and it came equipped with a lot of the same features. For 2024, the Nissan Rogue receives a plethora of updates including a tweaked design and a new infotainment system. Not too...
2024 Honda SCL 500 Review / An easy riding Scrambler
Просмотров 532Месяц назад
The SCL500 is the latest addition to Honda’s lineup of 500cc motorcycles. It is inspired by the Scramblers of the 60’s and 70’s such as the CL350 & CL72. Honda is betting big on this bike in the hopes that it’ll be one of the most popular Scramblers on sale today. So is it good enough to earn that designation? The Honda SCL 500 uses the same 471cc parallel-twin engine that is found in many othe...
2024 Land Rover Range Rover SV Review / Who is this $300,000+ SUV for?

There’s a lot of things that you can get for around $300,000 CAD. It’s a good down payment on a really nice house. Or a lavish vacation for the next decade. Or a luxury SUV. 2024 Ford Mustang Ecoboost Review / Blasphemy or is the Ecoboost Mustang actually good?
Просмотров 3,9 тыс.Месяц назад
The most iconic muscle car in the world enters its 7th generation for the 2024 model year. Ford calls this the most exhilarating and visceral version of the Mustang yet. Considering that it’s the last of the “big 3” American sports cars, it has a lot to live up to. One change for this all-new 2024 Ford Mustang is the discontinuation of the V6 engine. It is now available with the V8 and the Ecob...

The 2024 Honda Civic Type-R is the darling of all car enthusiasts. It’s a front-wheel-drive pocket rocket with a 6-speed manual transmission and no electronic aids. The 2024 BMW X5 M Competition is not necessarily on the tip of anyone’s tongue when the term Super SUV is mentioned. Usually, it’s SUVs such as the Lamborghini Urus or Aston Martin DBX that are first to mind. Sadly, the end is here. The 2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, as we know it today, will cease production as of June 2024. I have tried 2024 X5 and 2024 GLE - both have the worst hard sport seats you can ever imagine. Especially GLE. The seat was so hard I had back pain in 30 minutes test drive. Also the central consoles for both are ginormous. Means if you are big guy you are squeezed between the door and the central console. Mercedes use to be comfort car. Not anymore. Next month I am buying XC90 PHEV which has the best seats ever. If you want comfort go for the Volvo.

I have the exact car as in the video but without quad exhausts. It is a quiet cruiser, actually very quiet for a sports on city streets and the highway. The exhaust does drone a a bit from low to midrange acceleration...not a fan of that aspect. Last weekend I drove to Niagara and was pleased with the comfort. I had a 2018 Ecoboost which was also quiet and comfortable. The 2024 interior is better, but not by a wide margin. The 2024 suspension has better bump impact isolation than the 2018. I have a light foot so 9.5 L/100 km in the city and 7.0 L/100 km highway driving.

The seats you showed are not nappa leather, they are leather just not nappa. I say this because your car is near identical as the one I ordered (but RH drive). It was disappointing of Mercedes does not to offer an upgrade option to nappa leather especially when I have bought the highest spec'd one currently available in Australia, even if leather is coming out of vogue. Mercedes did make some odd sale choices. Holding back options such as Nappa leather, even wheel options up to a point. Variants are restricted. Whilst, I would not want every option they offer in America (which is way too many for me), some extra options would have been nice, especially as mine is built at the factory. Whilst the seat in the rear looked cramped with you in it, if the driver was not as tall, I suppose it would be less cramped. However, good review and I can't wait for mine to arrive next month.

Thanks for the detailed video. I’m currently deciding between the Nissan Rogue Platinum and the Honda CR-V Sport Touring. They are priced similarly (with the Nissan Platinum being more expensive here in the USA), but the Rogue comes with a range of new technology features like a 360-degree camera, a large touchscreen, Google/Alexa integration, a sunroof, and a heads-up display. On the other hand, the Honda CR-V has a more refined engine and smoother transmission compared to the Nissan. I might end up choosing the cheaper option between the two.

SEL trim should have had an upgraded engine. (The paddle-shifters on that lone trim level look silly without it.) SE trim should have had that upgraded engine as an option. Too many electronic nanny aides on the upper trims. This is like the current Gen. VW GTI, the base trim is the best option. You lose some comfort features on the ES, but you still get a lot.

I'll be honest. I do feel a bit fatigued after driving my 24 Ecoboost for a prolonged period of time.. I'm not sure if it's the weight of the car or if it's the transmission/engine being sluggish due to not knowing where to send the power (my ecoboost doesnt have the high performance pack for the paddle shifters to control the transmission) I feel the GT is really the best way to go as you'll have a naturally aspirated engine which means no Turbo Lag which the Ecoboost suffers from. I'm still not quite sure about the automatic transmission being much better in the GT however.

CRV is a completely different hybrid system than RAV4. The CRV doesn’t use any gearing changes for the engine - it is essentially “stuck” in 6th gear (overdrive). The engine operates as a generator and you are mostly running on the power of the electric motor. This motor has to push through both the transfer case and the rear drive shaft and differential (same or regen on braking). The only time the gas engine is actually attached to the drive train is when driving at mild highway speeds where the “6th gear” is more economical than the “generator” mode. I think this is why the CRV feels so smooth (it’s really all electric drive) but gets slightly less fuel economy (regen differences perhaps?). This unique approach also means you will never get the “combined” power of both the gas and electric motors (there is a theory that both might operate full out at about 160 km/hr when the gas motor can be at max output and still be connected to the drive train. I don’t think this makes one better than the other but I think this is a very significant difference and worth pointing out in a review. Note that there is more to go wrong on the Honda, but if you prefer the way it drives, maybe that is fine.

    Plug-in? What does that mean?

It's a hybrid that you can plug-in, like an EV, for about 55 km of electric only driving after which the engine takes over.

The world isn't just about straight line speed & acceleration.

I have a 2022 Eclipse Cross SEL FWD trim level (US), and love it. Is rated for 28 mpg highway and normally achieve 32 to 33 mpg highway with the summer blend of gas. With a mix of highway and local driving, the car averages 28.5 mpg. Have driven 403 highway miles and took 12.2 gallons to fill up, and the Eclipse Cross shows the car can go another 100 miles until empty. Things to adjust to get better mileage include turning off the emergency braking and stability control and turning on eco mode once up to speed on the highway. When I need to pass another vehicle on the highway, will turn off eco mode, and there's enough power to pass other vehicles. And when using the adaptive cruise control, will have to turn the automatic braking back on. When driving on one lane highways (one lane each direction) in some of the backroads in the U.S., the Eclipse Cross EASILY passed other vehicles, including another car that accelerated in an attempt to not let me pass, but the turbo in the Eclipse Cross had enough pep to pass. I was able to negotiate price and did well. Have had the Eclipse Cross for over 3 years and have not had any problems. Am glad I purchased the Eclipse Cross.
