Traded in the truck and drove off, 6 months later, I traded in my Mazda CX5 for a Lightning. Back in love with my truck. Love the MachE but the F150 Lightning is second to none
Congratulations! You are going to love it. I’ve heard the new 2024 models have a heat pump installed, which makes the range much better during Winter months.
That's amazing your wife is also driving the lightning also. My wife likes it so much It is now her daily driver also. She had a rental Mache recently and it's not even on the same level as the lightning. One great thing about the lightning guy and it's sleeper. Almost nobody notices that it's electric unless you open the frunk. Usually you get a look of amazement when you go to pick up the groceries and open the frunk. The F-150 lightning catches people so off guard.
I couldn't care less about the politics behind it. I love my lightning. Iv always loved driving f150s. now I don't have to have that crappy 10speed. Also don't have to spend over a 100 to fill out up anymore. And the torque is amazing!

How ironic that Americans restrict their own freedoms when in communist countries such as china, people are free to buy what ever they want without judgement. Anyways, really enjoyed your stories and I am glad to hear you are enjoying the lightning. They are truly amazing trucks. Hopefully, more people such as yourself fight the myth that the vehicle you drive actually has anything to do with politics. As you said, EV's are not for everyone just yet, especially if you do a lot of long distance driving. But if it does suit your use case and you have the ability to install a level 2 charger at home, EV's are an amazing choice.

I’m an electrical engineer looking to sell out of Plano TX in a few years and head west to Kingman AZ. That might just be a good time to slip into one of these. Thanks for the write up.
Thank you for the positive feedback. These trucks so far have still been nothing short than amazing. My wife’s is nearing 9K miles on hers, and mine is sitting around 8500 miles. From the smooth drive, down to the interior comfort, I still believe these are the best vehicles on the road. I can’t speak for every EV, admittedly having very limited experience. But without a doubt, I absolutely love the Ford Lightnings. Both models we have - are the standard range. But it has not been an issue at all. I would highly suggest just taking a simple test drive at your local dealer. You will not regret it, trust me. In the beginning, I was very critical of these vehicles, knowing California’s demand for them come 2035. If I can be convinced these are as amazing as they are (knowing my political stance), it really says a lot.
I really appreciate the video! I have test-driven the lightning Lariat and then also a more basic version, and I walked away thinking these are the nicest driving Vehicles I've ever been in. Hearing your experience, may give me the final push I need to go get it! It also sounds like I would drive this vehicle very similar to your family, mostly driving around my area where I'm sure it would be far less than 80 miles a day. Thanks again, I really enjoyed hearing your experience.
Thank you very much for the positive response. I think you will love the decision, if you take the plunge. I’m still loving these trucks more and more.
Honestly, I think it is because it is has become such a political topic. Here in California for example, come 2035 buying a new car, you are forced into purchasing an EV. It’s really a shame, knowing they truly are an excellent technology. But at least from my point of view, people should enjoy the technology advancements, without being forced into them. In today’s day and age, everything unfortunately has become a political move. I am convinced that if politicians wouldn’t have taken part in the EV technology, we would have seen many more on the road today.
Great video man... I couldnt have said it better.. just got a lightning myself... Im a contractor and it works for me.... not a political decision... an economic one... who doesnt love to save money???
I couldn’t agree more. The money savings are a huge plus. With my latest purchase, I was worried, knowing my Chevy trade in was severely upside down. But not having to pay for DEF fluid, Diesel fuel, and oil changes, it has actually saved me overall. Truth be told, I have been driving this as my work vehicle the last couple of months, even knowing my actual work truck offers free fuel. I may not be saving in a financial aspect, but I cannot get over the comfort of my daily drive. Ive told others, this vehicle hits all benefits. You get the feel of a Cadillac, the power of a high end sports car, and the benefits of a full size truck. Although there are many options today, I truly believe for the money, the F150 Lightning is the best option available.
@californiahigh-desertconce7999 yes.. I traded in my 2019 f250 diesel... loved the truck... but I love this one more I'm also in so ca l... west end of the san fernando valley where they use to film the old westerns
I stand with the same belief system as you. I’ve also owned 3 Diesel trucks that were all full size trucks. I own a Rivian now. It has absolutely ruined me for driving a Diesel truck again. If you truly need the power, distance, and towing for daily use, go diesel. If you occasionally tow like me up to 11,000 lbs, the EV trucks do really well. Charging while on the road is the ONLY set back. But that exact set back has taught me to slow down and relax a bit more while driving. Thanks for your video.
I couldn’t agree more. Not that I ever had a lead foot. But these vehicles are so comfortable, you really never feel rushed. I was telling my wife the other day, these trucks are comparable to my days on a cruiser bike. When the comfort is just right, a longer ride is always welcomed. Since this video, I’ve actually found a sweet spot with speed, for longer drives. If you can maintain a speed of 65 mph, you’ll actually get better range than what has been stated on your vehicle. Once a week I will leave my work vehicle behind, and drive my Lightning out to the job site. I drove round trip 203 miles yesterday. Upon my return, I still had 43% battery remaining. Converting that to miles, I had 103 miles left. I’m glad you are enjoying your truck. I’ve heard great things about the Rivian, but have never been inside of one.
@@californiahigh-desertconce7999 The Rivian is a great vehicle but, It needs a lot of work towards prepared for anything people. Thank you very much for the positive feedback. I do agree, these things are a hidden gem. For those with a style of driving that fits, these vehicles are a no brainer. I’ve had nearly 6 months of power bills while owning these two EV’s. With the discounts provided, my family is literally driving for free. As much as I hate to admit it, I am in love with these things.
Honestly at those speeds, your range may suffer. Prior to owning the EV trucks, I frequently would drive 75-80 along the highways. I have found that keeping speeds between 65mph and 70mph, your range will provide the best benefit. But with that said, I compare these vehicles to my days riding a cruiser Bike. The ride is so enjoyable, I really have no qualms with the slower speeds whatsoever. The comfort is truly incredible.
At 1:25 It worked out great for the US. No foreign country invading US soil because we are pushing Russian aggression back and stifling Russian means to raise $. Sanctions do work to keep aggressors at bay. But, as you did say not to be political. Im glad your family can sleep in peace at night in this country, even though you may be temporarily paying higher gas prices because of Pres Biden. Higher gas prices = the cost of freedom.
I do not. What saves me a little, is when purchasing and EV, you can be set up on different programs. Between the hours of 9pm to 4pm (the following day), I pay .25 cents per KWh. Between the hours of 4pm to 9pm I pay .59 cents per KWh. Prior to purchasing, I paid .42 cents per KWh around the clock. Even with Charging both vehicles daily, my bill has actually dropped. Yes you can drive your Ford F-150 Lightning anywhere at a fraction of the cost of a gas/diesel-powered truck.,I recently drove our Tesla model 3 short-range from San Diego up through Nevada, Utah, Montana, Banff Canada , Vancouver Canada down through Washington, Oregon and back through California without any issues...
... and with FSD or autopilot you didn't actually have to do much driving if you didn't want to ;) I prefer my tesla on long drives even with charging stops because its so much less tiring.
It's comical how you begin by saying you wish buying an EVs wasn't tied to political motivation, then seconds later give a "let's go Brandon" and call sanctions against Russia a "bonehead move". Many other countries also imposed sanctions, and I'm sure any sensible president, Rep or Dem, would have done the same. Innocent people are being killed and forced from their homes in Ukraine, but heaven forbid you have to pay a little bit more at the gas pump. Next time, keep politics out of it and just talk about the damn vehicle. Also, the US pays much less for gas than just about anywhere else in the world. That was a thoughtless comment.
It’s a simple answer. One, Sanctions had nothing to do with the political side of the EV topic. And two, considering we were purchasing oil from Russia, then impose sanctions on that very country we are buying our oil from? That was a bonehead move. It doesn’t make sense to punish a Country financially towards thing, then financially reward them - by buying oil. In a world of common sense, it’s pretty easy to understand what was going to happen. Our cost of oil went up, creating the highest gas prices in our history.
Fortunately there are many EV videos to choose from, that are likely more in line to what you may enjoy watching, and listen to. I am a small portion of that group, and simply provide my own opinions, and experiences. Fortunately for all viewers, they can leave the video at any moment. I’m glad you found that option😉
Hopefully you are right. But I’d still say the sure bet will always be fossil fuels, considering the anaerobic decomposition process that occurs. Regardless of usage - Fossil fuels will continue to be available. But technology wise, I sincerely believe that batteries will eventually provide more mileage per charge, than today’s best gas/diesel powered vehicles. Once the solid state batteries become available, it would not be unrealistic to reach 1K miles in between charges.
Another rocket scientist that has no concept of how gas prices are driven. By the way, thank Brandon for pulling a fast one on OPEC by releasing the US long term oil reserve at top dollar and then buying it back at basement prices.
I have a lightning and I also hate that ev's have become so political. I'm right leaning and i get people assuming things of me also. I actually don't care about the environment too much. I don't let it bother me anymore. It's so much more cheaper to operate than an ICE vehicle and the power is crazy. it's a shame that a lot of people won't even give it a chance because they believe that ev's are a lefty thing. oh well. in the meantime, i'll keep saving money.
Victorville area, 2 years ago we reached $8 per gallon. Last year we reached $6.95 per gallon. Along the central coast last summer prices reached $7.05 per gallon, and $8.10 per gallon 2 summers ago. Primarily Templeton, Atascadero, SLO, and Arroyo Grande.
I live in NorCal. I just paid $5 bucks a gallon yesterday. Last year I drove through the Big Sur area and paid $7.75 a gallon. Still lower than Scott’s Valley that was in the $8 range. Fuel does indeed cost a LOT more than it ever did before. All that said, I’m keeping my current truck because I can go 600 miles between fill ups. And fill ups cost me 15 mins max in time.
He said people are trying to make politics out of Evie’s They’re by far the superior vehicle. Not everyone can charge at their home. I would buy a different home,
I get what you are saying, but live my man, make decisions on how you feel not based on politics … none of the mofos are for us and they attempt to divide us
I wouldn’t say anyone is against great ideas, especially with EV’s. They are against the Government enforcing them as the only option. California for example has set 2035 as a deadline, forcing all new vehicles being sold from then on to be EV’s. Technology is an amazing thing. Especially when the intent is to expand options. Enforcing technology, and removing those options will never be welcomed.
@brainwasher0 banning internal combustion engines by 2030 for one. I could compose a novel for you, but I recommend reading multiple news sources for once in your life. Maybe take an economics and political science course while you're at it. Till then, please refrain from voting.
Things change over time. Was it political when we went from horse and buggy to the automobile? The resisitence is from big oil. No, EVs by themselves aren't going to save our planet but its one step in the right direction away from fossil fuels. Battery technology is moving at an incredible speed and for now lithium is about 95% recycleable and every day our power is getting cleaner. You speak of "choices" but its really about "freedom" and freedom ain't free! We have a responsibility to take care of our planet for our kids. As soon as it becomes political then common sense goes out the window and it becomes tribal with no consideration of the future. I love my Lightning, ICE vehicles and gas stations look like relics to me now. No more oily mess from chaging my oil. No more searching for the cheapest gas. With solar panels on my roof I'm driving on sunshine and loving it. Isn't anything political about that.
I agree with much of what you’ve mentioned. But I will say, if it’s used or not used, Fossil fuel will never go away, considering the anaerobic decomposition process, making fossil fuels a natural earth substance. Arguments can be heard from both sides, and both provide valid points. As of this day however, nearly 70% of the world’s electricity is provided by the use of fossil fuels, making this immediate demand sort of asinine. But in contrast, a man back in the early 1900’s had a theory for a solution, that appeared to be very promising. Unfortunately his backing investors had a strong financial benefit in oil already, which ultimately shut down funding the man’s idea. But with advancement of technology, I couldn’t agree more. Back when leaded gas switched to unleaded, over time, it was proven to be a great transition. But as with many things, the backlash was heavily shown in the beginning.
Nope, no sarcasm. The problem is, when politicians enforce something, it always creates backlash. In this case, California has imposed a law, that beginning the year 2035 - all California residents will not legally be able to purchase a gas, or diesel powered vehicle brand new. They are removing the ability for citizens to have a choice. For that, I can understand. Although some of us are fortunate, and can buy into this technology, I cringe knowing my little girl will be forced into purchasing a $60,000+ vehicle when attempting to buy a new car. This goes along with all citizens heading into the real world struggles, when first getting into the adult world. Technology is an incredible thing. But having choices is an amazing feeling. Everyone should have that option.

Lived in Southern California for 43 years. Gas has NEVER been $7-$8 a gallon. IMPAID $4.08 last week
On PcH Hwy 1 in California I paid $10 a gallon. It’s a long distance between gas stations and if you are low in gas you’ll pay it.
the range is crazy ... costco and a local cheap gas station are @ $3.88 in Fullerton CA
I was paying about 6.65 a gallon in early 2022.
He said people are trying to make politics out of Evie’s
They’re by far the superior vehicle.
Not everyone can charge at their home. I would buy a different home,
I never made EVs a political thing. That sounds like a personal problem.
I get what you are saying, but live my man, make decisions on how you feel not based on politics … none of the mofos are for us and they attempt to divide us
It’s only political to the party which is against good ideas like EV and EV infrastructure.
Who makes it political? I don’t get it. It’s just a car that happens to be electric.
As it should be. They are a great option.
The democrats do
@@whodat9198how?

If your politics are in conflict with your needs, of what use are your politics? What part of California do you live in? This is sarcasm, right?
