  • The supreme commander of the Asgard fleet (Thor) and three Goa'uld System Lords (Cronus, Nirrti & Lord Yu) meet at Stargate Command to negotiate a treaty modification, but subterfuge and treachery threaten not only the success of the negotiations, but Earth itself.

      Chronos wanted the one who tried to kill him Earth got it Stargate.
      Jackson foiled Osiris attempt to murder Yu. Yu spares Tealc.

    Out of all the system lords, I like Ba'al the most, he was willing to at least work with Earth, potentially the Jaffa if only to keep them from being a problem. In Continuum is a perfect example, he shows up to Earth, calls the president, and says, "Hey, no worries, Im not here to threaten you but do business with you." Sure he would have done it for self serving reasons, but it would have kept the humans at bay. So not so much because he likes humans, but in that they stand to be a serious problem that can be stopped, if in the beginning, simple small concessions are made and bam, problem solved. Same thing with the Jaffa _"Hey Tealc, I know you want to free the Jaffa, you know what, sure why not, have a planet, hell have two planets for all I care, Want to come work for me? Sure why not."_ Ba'al would have the entire galaxy in the palm of his hand, what's a few planets compared to that.
    That's why I like Ba'al he may be prideful but he's not so prideful he can't be a bit pragmatic on certain things.

    • @lifeinjersey9846
      @lifeinjersey9846 2 года назад +14

      Well Ba'al also had hindsight compared to the Other System Lords. He wasn't a major system lord until Anubis was defeated. Before that he was probably a midranking Goa'uld. He saw for years how the Tauri who were technologically more primitive essentially chip away at the Goa'uld empire for years. Were finally able to build weapons that could match the Goa'uld in less than 10 years with help from the Asgard. He realizes how much of a threat they were by continuum and how the Jaffa rebellion turned out as well. You have to remember Ba'al is old, he saw the systems lords rule unopposed for ages only surpassed by the Asgard then comes little Earth and in what less than 10 years of gate traveling, essentially brought the system lords down to their knees leaving just him at the end. He's not as arrogant because most of that time he wasn't a major player who had his empire ultimately destroyed by the Tauri or the Jaffa. By the time he got to be so powerful he realized just how dangerous the Tauri were. I mean compare to the Tokra which spend thousands of years trying to bring the Goa'uld down, the Tauri managed to show up and accomplish it in 10 years, with help of course. But Ba'al by the end knew his time was limited and was only willing to negotiate and work with them to prolong his reign.

    • @kaboom-zf2bl
      @kaboom-zf2bl Год назад +5

      Yup he learned from the human's ... a little comprise can lead to BIG rewards ... giving the Jaffa their freedom made for very loyal guards ... sure they may not kill themselves for frivolous reasons anymore ... BUT they will fight and die for the cause they believe in ... and their freedom would go hand in hand with defeating the other system lords with Ba'al leading ... they would do no problem

      @@kaboom-zf2bl not to mention by removing the Tauri from the galaxy he also essentially removed 2 additional enemies. @@rosemaryjones5550 That's the thing, he was waiting but he also picked a point where the system lords were at their weakest. By the tine Baal made his grab for power a good portion of the system lords were dead, the remaining ones were weak after fighting each other, the Tokra and the Jaffa Rebellion. I think Lord Yu and Amaterasu were the only systems lords left who could even remotely challenge Baal. And even then they approached the Tauri for an alliance.

      Earth being a prized meat... For the Goa'uld, no they gave up earth after a minor rebellion. Until it became a minor threat after that it was protected by treaties then force. For the Ori, Earth was an obstacle keeping them from the potential worshippers in the milky way galaxy. And for the Wraith who were going through a major food shortage. Yeah, Earth was the ultimate prized meat.

    • @danielk5780

      In a galaxy mostly dominated by the Goa'uld, a planet developing a civilization counting up to 7 billion people was unheard of. Most of the galaxy was in a somewhat medieval state, scattered around in smaller villages, with the system lords capitals having some sort of resemblence to a bigger medieval city. I think it's even likely that there are more humans living on earth than Jaffa soldiers in the entire galaxy.
      For the Ori and the Goa'uld that both meant lots of people that could praise them as gods and be their slaves. For the Replicators they probably just posed a threat, as their weapons could destroy them, unlke Goa'uld or Asgard weaponry.
