- Clip from Stargate SG1's season 4 episode 14 "The Serpents Venom" where Heru'ur meets Apophis for a "peaceful" meeting but doesn't realise Apophis took an entire fleet with him.
Uploaded because it is one of Elliot's favourite scenes and he now lives in Hartlepool and doesn't have regular access to my DVD collection.
If you want to see the whole episode buy Stargate SG1 season 4 on DVD today! (or wait till it is repeated).
I DO NOT OWN THIS CLIP. MGM/SONY DO. NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT IS INTENDED. IF I HAVE COPYRIGHT INFRINGED THIS I AM SORRY AND WILL TAKE OFF ON REQUEST. I DON'T ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT INFRINGEMENT MEANS LOL.
''The deception is yours!'' Says the guy who brought an entire fleet with him when they were supposed to meet at neutral grounds....
My friend I know it's countless years later but each gou'ald is genetically related so basically he didn't take his nephew at his word and kills his brother ra son because he thought he would stab him in the back because that is what he would do if there position were reversed what a fucked up life form I bet you the atlantian were responsible for the creation of the goa'uld accident or not they were probably put in those lakes for the unas to eat 😀
@Mackenzie Bauroth Apophis did too, actually. Him coming to the SGC in "Serpent's Song" is him committing suicide-by-Tau'ri. Hoping Sokar would take them out along with him. He was talking tough but seemed to know it as the end.
You can always trust a dishonest man to be dishonest. Basically if your surrounding by lying backstabber's it's better to be the betrayer than the betrayed.

This is a rough translation but Apophis basically said, and I quote, "Kiss your ass good bye, Heru'ur."
He says "know this Her'ru! You will die at the hands of Apophis"

could've been
"yoo-hoo her'ur, i think your dead now"
"Your so dead, heru'ur."
In Heru'ur's defense, it was deception.
They could've gotten far more mileage out of Heru'ur. He seemed cool but highly under utilized.
Yeah, a good bit of that happened with this show, then next thing you know, they're having to break out ridiculous stuff like the unkillable Anubis with his absurd levels of knowledge and resources or the lazy jab at christianity known as the Ori, because they used up practically all the interesting villains too soon..
.
How Baal managed to make it to the end is a testament to actor playing him's charisma.
@@InfernosReaper Having n+1 clones of himself helped, too.
Same with Sokar; Sokar is still my favorite SG1 villain.
@São João do mundo Both Islam *and* Christianity are notorious for conversion by sword and war for their god. It's something they inherited from Judaism.

Aphopis: "Listen here you little shit!"
Heru'ur: "Bruh"
Ever since that episode where they mentioned that "Cree!" was an equivalent to "Yoohoo" I can't take them seriously whenever they say it XD
Kree not Cree
It’s like saying Shalom
Jack O'Neill "You heard me, I said Kree"! or when he said "back at ya".
I think "Kree" has varied uses, depending on the context of the situation, but typically, it kinda means "hear me!" or "listen up!"
YOO HOO HERU-UR!!!!!!
That “Oh Shit” expression gets me every time
If I had been Heru'ur I would have ordered the ship's commander to go into hyperspace immediately after he realized that Apophis was there with an entire fleet.
He wouldn't have had time to maneuver away from Apophis' ship before being fired upon. Seeing as Apophis' weapons were strong enough to wipe through Heruurs shields with only a couple shots, he was dead anyway.
As soon as his ship detected something happened, he should've gotten the hell out of dodge
It's all down to writing. They wanted Horus dead so they killed him. Realistically that's what the should have done though.
no you wouldn't - you'd have done exactly as heru-ur did, because that's what heru-ur did.
Amazing character. Died after being in 3 episodes 😢
So nice when an episode introduces an ability for the bad guys that is mysteriously dropped without explanation despite it being a game changer. Cloaking a big ship never happens again until Atlantis or S10 even though S4 established Apophis / Sokar pulling it off right here in S4.
The Goa'uld don't share technology with each other so the technology and/or techniques required to construct a cloaking device capable of hiding a Ha'tak was lost after the death of Apophis in 2001, as no further Ha'taks were ever equipped with a cloak.
It's entirely possible that fleet was an experiment. Why not use a disposable "subordinate" to test a system that may not work?
Heru’ur failed the number one Rule of the System lords, Kree before you are Kree’d
RIP Paul Koslo. I really love how he nailed the Goaulds' both darkn and weak sides in Terok here. 2019 seems to have taken so many SG-1 actors already..
@IJN Yamato As far as i know, Paul Koslo(the goauld Terok in this one) and Carmen Argenziano(Jacob Carter in the series)
@IJN Yamato true enough. but i still feel bad about already having lost 2 imo very good actors from my favourite show so early in the year. It's just a surprise every time you google someone's name to find out who played them and you see they died only 2 months ago.

Everything about your profile pic and your comment is totally 90's :D
they never did a translation thing Goa'uld to English I think, so writers just sort of muddled through the linguistic bit
I've always thought it was something like 'attention heru'ur now you shall feel the wrath of apophis'.

@@real_cashew Sokar didn't have this mothership :/
@@logthemini Sokar originally designed it before Apophis took over his empire.
Heru-Ur: "Would it help if I said I was sorry? You always were my favorite uncle, pushing me to be a better conqueror... but kudos Uncle Apophis, kudos kree."
Jack's thinking maybe Star Trek wasn't the best torture device they had...
Damn Romulans.
I'm mostly disappointed in Heru'ur compared to other System Lords. He's said to be so powerful and feared by many but one time he got a knife stuck through his hand by O'Neill and this time he got killed without fighting back. Sokar was a dud too but at least he managed to scared off the Tauri to return him the dead body of Apophis.
I think he's a better villain that he didn't fight back here. He knew he was done. He wasn't happy about it, but he accepted it. If he'd tried to attack the fleet despite knowing he'd get obliterated... that would've been predictable and annoyingly desperate. This way he had a few moments of dignity.
That's not really my point. My gripe with the handling of his character is that he never came off as a true feared evil boss. He certainly looked the part but every time he showed up he only got his ass kicked in the end. Every single time.
true i always saw him as a bad ass but he always got shafted
If Heru'ur had fired the minefield would have destroyed his ship, instead of Apophis's ship, the only reason Apophis got away with firing, was his fleet of ships their to cover his exit.
he had the face of someone who knew he is going to die, but at the very least he died with his snakehead held high
If only Teal'c had a dollar for everytime someone called him shol'var.

Only for his time but they could have shown more of each system lord throughout the series
He brought Stargate to live Ball was ok I say Ball was more of a joker System Lord then a bad one in my books Apophis was the true bad ass he even out did Ra I say they should have let Maj Kawlski lived and let him and Lord Apophis have a few episodes more then what we seen

Translation? "fuck you Heru'ur how dare you trick Apophis!"
If "Kre" is the translation of "fuck" well... Jaffa Kre get's a whole new meaning...
Kre, I think, is one of the words with multiple meanings, so, who knows?
To be fair, "fuck" also has multiple meanings.
It was established not all that far into the series that "kree" has a lot of meanings.
jaffa kreeeeeeeeeeeeee
it was a shame they decided to kill off Apophis half way into the shows run. other Goa'uld were great too but Apophis was there from the beginning writing him out was like losing a main character. they could still have done things with him. just imagine having him during the Anubis story line. now SG-1 suffers a bit from the 'big bad guy' followed by a 'bigger bag guy' followed by the 'BIGGEST BAD GUY' cliche.
On the other hand, you do want to avoid the villain that keeps dying but always coming back though.
Stargate had an issue with the “bigger bad guy” cliche. Defeat Apophis and Anubis takes his place, defeat him and the Ori show up.
It would however have been interesting to see how Apophis would have dealt with the competition instead of being replaced by them.
Maybe he would side with SG-1 against a common enemy, maybe he would be forced to serve Anubis. Maybe he has a redemption arc.
I feel they could have done more with him. (Especially his connection to Teal’c and his people) but, they likely didn’t realize they would get 5 more seasons, would they have killed him off if they knew?
@@henkman00 I don't think it's a loss to not see how Apophis side up against a common enemy because we already see Ba'al do that. Redemption arcs don't fit the Gou'uld at all because if it was possible there wouldn't be a need for the Tokra. Apophis holds the unique position of being a standard for all Gou'uld that we have never met. If you start having things like redemption arcs it kind of kills the whole thing. He remains comically egomaniacal almost the entire way through and gets killed off. There's no other Gou'uld in the series like that. I think Heru'ur got the short end of the stick if anything. Having a knife personally thrown through his hand must have opened the way for interesting future interactions.
The "aww fuck" look on Heru'ur's face is priceless.
Kree means "attention", "listen up", "Yoohoo", "OI!" etc
Kree jaffa
Losing 15 big ships just like that.
No wonder Apophis eventually lost
He sacrificed 15 ships like that because he could replace them with ease. Firstly absorbing Heru’ur fleet, and Delmak. Delmak is a high industrial world. Capable of pumping out war equipment with ease,
They also look to be the old style hatak. So probably the worst of his fleet. How he had them cloaked I don't know. Can't remember any other hataks do that in another episode
Funny, considering he previously lost his System Lord status just by having two hataks blown out of the sky
@@daveyb454 I think that's a misnomer. The difference in Ha'tak design is down to graphics limitations of the time. The only thing that separates the Anubis Ha'tak from these Ha'tak are augmented shields and weapons (and maybe cloaking devices).
@@Elydir Those two ships were carrying most of his best warriors at the time. We never see the ships here blowing up there taking the mines impacts on their shields best case he might have only had a crew of 4 piloting each of the ships.
That and by right of conquest he just got all Heru'ur territory and resources. The Tok'ra set up this plan to get the two of them to fight and weaken each other since Heru'ur had the next biggest fleet out of the system lords.
Damn this show was awesome
it is a stolen ship from sokar's technology
One thing that has always gotten to me is why would Sokar's soldiers be so loyal to Apophis after the death of their boss, Sokar? Unless Apophis tricked them into believing that he killed Sokar and the Jaffa have a rule that they follow a system lord that manages to kill their overlord. I kind of wish the show had elaborated more on this after the death of Sokar.
they did , when teal'c was captured by heru'ur did you see that part
Probably because with the death of their overlord, they didn't have anyone else to fill Sokar's shoes and since Apophis was already a very polarizing figure in the Gould Empire. They decided to make him the new 'Sokar'. Otherwise Sokar's considerable forces would have been headless and be at the mercy of other system lords out there looking to pick them apart. I mean just look at what happened when Ra died.
barbiquearea Apophis was a conqueror among his kind, so it stands to reason they sided with him. He was only ever toppled by SG-1. In the absence of Sokar, Apophis was their best choice.
kytim89
My thoughts exactly. And besides he did at least took responsibility for 'killing' Sokar which according to Gould laws, allows him to inherit all of Sokar's assets.
in turn this allowed anubis and baal to rise to power

+Rob Fraser bahahaha... your comment was... gold... GOA'ULD!
Laughed at this much harder than i should have
That fleet was totally pointless, Apophis's flagshhip could easely destroy a single Ha'tak, but still gotta love Apophis, he showed his fleet and gave the middle finger to Heru'ur before killing him.
If SG1 didn't interfere and/or Teal'c had found a way to secretly escape, HERU'RU would be considered a more honorable system lord than Apophis in this particular scenario.
1:07 Heru'Ur is toasted now!
doug and peter really nice guys in real life,r.i.p carmen
Two things:
1) "What is this" is something a "god" should never have to ask.
2) What are those metal plates on Apophis' face? He wore a shard of metal as a mask to cover disfigurement when he was Sokar's prisoner but the sarcophagus should have healed that after he took over.
Rooster Montgomery But I have never seen him in a sarchophagus at the end of "The Devil you know"; when he leaves Ne'tu we don't see him heavily disfigured, but there are no news that he used a sarchophagus after then; this probably is the motivation because he didn't completely healed from the injures and he has those two plates.
See you soon.
Guido.
Well good for you there is an episode where the people questioned a Goa'uld after asking such a thing.
Rooster Montgomery metal plates where probably for intimidation
Hey I'm answering late so I don't think you'll see this. However, from memory, I think that Apophis face was injured somewhere in a previous episode, but I'm not 100% sure (I must admit, I didn't watch Stargate for a while).
#FromAnOldFan
Apophis' face was disfigured when he was Sokar's prisoner. However I would imagine the plates are for intimidation and a mark of pride like "I journeyed through the underworld, killed the god of death and took his power!" They're battle scars.
You are right the sarcophagus would heal the scars, hence why he has the metal plates to keep them in tact.
And yes he must have used a sarcophagus as his host is nearly two thousand years old, we see in a previous episode that if he goes for a long time without a sarcophagus his host will age rapidly.
Heru'ur owns by the tollan, owns by the asgard, owns by o'neill and owns by apophis .
Apophis was affraid of Heru'ur, the son of ra just as he was affraid of ra that is why he brought his whole fleet
just when i was hoping that Heru'ur would win. he would have been a great main villain.
If it wasn't a TV show, he just would've jumped into hyperspace.
and that was the moment he realised he fucked up.
I akreed with the earlier statement that herour should have brought his strongest ally, heroin to the battle.
Say what you will about Apophis, he was literally the only system lord (before anubis) who was making new technological advances for his fleet, like shown here, able to cloak his fleet.
Seeing as we never see a cloaked Ha’tak again I believe the cloak was made by Sokar and Apophis (having taken over his forces) used all the ships with them here but didn’t know how to make more
1:14 Heru'ur taking it like a champ lol
Mans didn't even put shields up. RIP
Funny how a cloaked mothership never appears again in this show.
It's possible only Sokar knew now to make them and he took that knowledge with to the grave. Apophis probably had only a few dozen ships (prototypes) with a cloaking device because Sokar hadn't finished experimenting with the technology yet.
@@Not-Ap I suppose it's also possible those prototypes are the ones that got a exploding star to the face.
Heru'ur looks like he's about to cry. :D
I can't believe five of Heru'ur's Jaffa actually survived that.

Clearly they're a member of the Dominion
I had no idea Jason Statham were possesed by an Goa'uld all along.
Wait that was Jason... seriously?
That was not Jason Statham that played as Heru'ur. It was Douglas Arthurs.
Dany: The common people pray for my return.
Jorah: The jaffa pray for food, health, and a summer that never ends. They don’t care about the game the system lords play.
dude i wish they woulda kept Heru'ur around... he was the most bad ass lookin out of all the goa'uld
This is from the episode Serpent's Venom
according to daniel it means many things, including contracdicting stuff like come here, go away, do as i say etc
Say it with me: GOOOOOOOO APOPHIS!!!!!!!!!
i think he said "attention heru'ur. You will feel the wrath of apophis"
Not even screaming...
Heru'ur was dying like a Warrior!
No the guys who escaped in the death glider were Teal'c(the shol'va) and another Jaffa. Teal'c was supposed to be sent to Apophis's mothership but a Jaffa called Rak'nor saved him and sent the goa'uld torture master Terok instead(the guy lying dead at Apophis's feet).
I wonder if Apophis placed Terak in the sarcophagus
Oh shit, guess I'm watching SG-1 again.
Good video!
That jaffa of Apophis messed things up for Heru ur. He could have said an explosion happened but he screamed Heru ur attacks sort of sealed the deal while everyone else was confused
That was the Tok'ra spy who planted the beacon that drew the mine to Apophis' ship.
Apophis was a good villain during the begining, BUT....i dont think he can outmatch Anubis, since Anubis had the Kull Warriors, his fleet, and ancient technology
When does he not get owned? His first appearance had him running with his tail between his fins when Thor showed up, later he gets a knife to the hand thanks to Jack, and now this! Heru'ur is useless!!! lol
i still think heru'er got more owned when o'neill threw the knife through his hand that was awesome.
WTF would Heru’er’s plan here be exactly? Send Apophis the wrong person and attack him with ONE mine!? How the hell would that take him out!?
It matters not what his scheme was! Only that he has one!
You seem to have missed the whole point. They were in the middle of minefield, that are programmed to intercept ships when they fire. The reason he brought the whole fleet so they could surround his ship, protecting it, while he made a getaway.
1:06 "Let alone a fleet" Huh? Surely if you can cloak one you can cloak more than one
Wathc the series, season 8 fisrt episode clearly states that Baal is the one who gains control over the majority of Anubis' possesions (though it is later revealed he's serving anubis actually)
Jacob is always willing to leave teal'c behind
When Anubis came back he became the most powerful Goa´uld since he was half-assended and possesed some knowledge of the Acients and his Kullwarriors made him even stronger
Anubis was when the series got a bit excessive with the power escalation, because the dude had the weakest motives of everyone thanks to not having a normal body and was too capable to the point of making some of his loses unbelievable at times.
@@InfernosReaper The writers made a mistake of making him in destructible
Heru'ur must be thinking: Oh Shit.
Actually O'Neill has appear already, and i'm pretty sure i read somewhere that Amanda tapping will appear in a episode as well.
Apophis was powerful before his capture by Sokar. After Ra's death he was the most powerful of the system Lords. It just takes time to assemble an invasion fleet. The hard part being troops not hataks
Jakob: "The Goa'uld have never been able to cloak an entire Mothership before. And now Apophis will easily be able to take over the galaxy."
And then we never saw a single cloaked mothership EVER again! Hell, even Anubis didn't give them cloaking abilities!
Apophis was a powerfull System Lord, the problem is when Earth destroyed two Ships from Apophis the other system lords look at this as a weakness and started to attack Apophis, then Sokkar comes to play, and start to attack Apophis too.
Ow... That looked painful. I want Apophis's mothership and his fleet. Then I could show Baal and his clones who are the fuck ups.
No Heru'ur dies, but Teal'c escapes the destuction of the Ha'tak
Yes. By firing on Heru'ur Ship the mines directed themselves on Apophis's Mothership and had Apophis not brought his fleet to take on the mines, the mothership would have been destroyed.
Heru'ur is Apophis's nephew in case the family tree isn't clear.
Yup killed by his Uncle
One question what was attacking them after apophis shoots that ha'tak
Apophis is really pissed off!
Indeed
Did he really need all those ships!
I only have SGU season 1 here in my apartment.
Sokar was poised to overthrow the system lords, I gather after his death, many refused to bow to Apophis and joined other system lords.
I never really understood,
who were these guys?
In the "bigger picture" that is, were Apophis and Heru'ur system lords?
They seemed very weak compared to the rest, were there lesser Goa'uld around that were independent of the system lords? Why did the system lords allow this? Why did they sit idly by as Apophis increased his power base?
They were system lords. Maybe weakest of them but still. System lords were not alliance they were rather opposing council who united only against superial and common enemy. There were lesser goaulds who didnt have realms or who were vassal of süstem lords. Ssytem lords alaways fighted with each other to gain more power. And every lesser goauld dream that one day they will rise to be system lords. Good example is Apophis. He lost everything and were captured by Sokar. And he become servant of Sokar and slovly gained influence and power and then betrayed Sokar and took his power. This is how system lords work.
Well, remember when Teal'c said about Heru'ur that he is a powerful System Lord, feared even among the other System Lords, it was in the episode when Heru'ur attacked the asgard protected planet, Cimmeria. After Ra died, Heru'ur gained much of Ra's power and became really powerful.
Also, Apophis was not weak at all even before SG1 destroyed his armies above earth. In his defense, the other System Lords took Apophis's loss to Tau'ri as a weakness and they started to hammer on him, he took heavy losses especially to Heru'ur, also, Sokar popped his head up and started to attack Apophis as well....so yeah, when you're attacked like that it's quite hard to win. To be honest, we've seen Apophis a lot and the other System Lords very little, so there is no way of knowing how to rank the System Lords. Anyway, since Sokar's death, Apophis's power skyrocketed, think about this, if an alliance of just 2 System Lords (Apophis and Heru'ur) would come to be enough to overpower all the others, they have to be really strong. Even the Tok'ra wanted to stop the alliance and took great lengths to make sure it wouldn't happen.
Btw, a small fact about Apophis and Heru'ur, they were the only System Lords that fought alongside their Jaffa, which was quite cool, knowing how the Goa'uld are cowards and lazy and like to hide behind others...and let others do their job.
I like how losing two ships in season 2 was something that made him vulnerable but sacrificing whole fleet to shield himself is apparently fine. Yeah, I know he would take over Heru'ur's forces but how and why?
At that time and place, he was had already claimed Sokar's forces. A domain much greater than his original forces.
Why didn't Apophis start attacking the other system lords? Why didn't he attack Earth? The asguard warned O'Neil that Sokar's fleet would easily overwhelm the asguards, so he doesn't have to worry about the treaty. My point is that despite Apophis gaining new power, we didn't see him do much with it, and for me, that doesn't really justify his return. Should've died in s2 and let Sokar be the main villain till Anubis returned, at least he seemed to have aspirations of his own that would've really paid on screen. Also bringing Sokar back would've allowed us to see more gou'ald Unas, which were also underutilised.
As in Egyptian mythology, Apophis and Ra were both enemies and brothers, so it's natural that he is enemies with he's brother's son. plus they are goauld, they are sneaky!
Guess Apophis didn't fear him
Wait did they just kill all them betties damn a lot of cakes where lost that day
Where and who is building those ships? That's what I would like to know.
I think Apophis was the best villain of the Show.
True he even managed to kill most of the main cast himself however briefly it turned out to be with the Nox bringing them back to life.
@0:04 So are we just gonna ignore the fact Apophis' "lady friends" are wearing clear heels......
Was it ever explained how Apophis was able to cloak motherships?
Apophis took over Sokar fleet. Must been Sokar plan to kill the 10 system lords like he was planning to defeat and take over their forces. Like what happen with Heru'ur.

"Oh shit I am screwed"
Something like "Oi, Heru'ur, how dare you betray Apophis"???
